Allen Reynolds

CALLANDS, Va. - William Allen Reynolds age 85 of 17811 Franklin Turnpike Callands, Virginia died Jan. 12, 2000 at his residence. Mr. Reynolds was born Sept. 8, 1914 in Pittsylvania County. He was the son of the late Henry O. Reynolds and Metilda Collins Reynolds. He was a retired farmer and was of the Christian Faith.
He was married to Louise Aron Reynolds who predeceased him. He is survived by two sons; Allen Wayne Reynolds of King William, VA and Stanley C. Reynolds of Callands; one sister, Iris Reynolds Farthing of Callands; one brother, Henry Lynwood Reynolds of Callands; four grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by two brothers Lee B. Reynolds and Harold C. Reynolds; and one grandson Sterling Christopher Reynolds.
A graveside funeral service will be conducted Friday, Jan. 14, 2000 at 2:00 pm from the Aron Family cemetery by the Rev. Darryl Joyce.
Interment will be in the Aron Family cemetery in Callands, Va. The family received friends Thursday Jan. 13, 2000 from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at Scott Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the residence. Scott Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The family suggests in lieu of flowers that donations be sent to your favorite charity.

Harry Woodall

DANVILLE, Va. - Harry Lee Woodall, 81, of 14 Elizabeth St., died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, at Piney Forest Health Care Center after two years of declining health.
Born Aug. 18, 1918, in Henry County, he was the son of Henry Woodall and Lizzie Watson Woodall.
He was married to Lucille Canady Woodall who survives.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Phillipines during Word War II, receiving the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Medal with three Bronze Service Stars; the Phillipine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Service Star, the Good Conduct Medal, and the American Defense Service Medal.
Woodall spent most of his life in Danville, where he was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was a deacon for 20 years.
He was chairman of Community Mission Committee of the church and a member of the Hoyt Tate Men’s Bible Class of the church.
He was a member of the A.T. Gammon Chapter No. 19 DAV and the VFW Post No. 647. He worked in fire protection, installing Auto Sprinkle systems all over the country.
He received his 45-year membership certificate with the United Association of Journeyman and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipefitting Industry of the U.S. and Canada.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include one son, E.J. Woodall of Atlanta; one sister, Lorene DeRosa of Michigan; one brother, Willie Woodall of Alabama, and one grandchild.
A funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. J. Richard Markham officiating.
Interment will follow at Mountain View cemetery where military honors will be performed by the American Legion Memorial Post No. 325 Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends at the residence.

Frank Farmer

GRETNA, Va. - Frank Mailon Farmer, 61, of Sycamore Road, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2000, in Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born Aug. 22, 1938, in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of Eloise Rowland Farmer, who survives, and the late Mailon Lee Farmer.
He married Ora Irby Farmer, who survives.
He was a retired truck driver with the Lane Company.
In addition to his mother of Charlotte, N.C. and wife of the residence, survivors include one son, Frank Dennis Farmer of Gretna; four daughters, Virginia Charlene Chambers of Eden, N.C., Brenda Lee Farmer of Gretna, Linda F. Witcher of Chatham and Norma F. Henley of Gretna; two sisters, Carrie Mae Trembley of Ringgold and Nancye Baker of Greenville, S.C.; and four grandchildren.
A funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Prillaman officiating. Interment icon will be in Gretna Burial Park.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Saturday at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home Chapel and at other times at the residence of his son, Frank Dennis Farmer, 1996 Rockford School Road, Gretna.
Colbert-Moran Funeral Home Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy Guill

HALIFAX, Va. - Dorothy Mills Guill, 88, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2000.
Born Jan. 10, 1912, in the Millstone Community, she was the daughter of Leslie Dibrell Mills and Katherine Blanks Mills.
She married William Nolan Guill, who survives.
She was a member of Beth Car Baptist Church in Halifax. She worked as a clerk in trial justice court for many years after attending Virginia Intermont College.
She also worked as post master in Halifax Post Office until her retirement in 1976. She was charter member of Banister River Garden Club.
She was a National Flower Show Judge in 1997, and the National Council of State Garden Clubs, Inc. honored her as Master Judge Emeritus for many years of hard work and devotion.
In addition to her husband of the residence, survivors include one son, William Nolan Guill Jr. of Hillsborough, N.C.; one daughter, Mary Guill Doherty of Raleigh, N.C.; one sister, Margaret Mills Bowman of New Hope, Pa.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Beth Car Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Stewart and the Rev. Dr. Melvin Bradshaw officiating.
The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Saturday at the residence.
Powell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Nannie Horsley

MARTINSVILLE, Va. - Nannie Love Tuck Horsley, 92, of 4345 Sunset Drive, formerly of Leatherwood Community, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2000 at Memorial Hospital.
Born Sept. 8, 1907, in Museville, she was the daughter of Gus Tuck and Amelia Kendrick Tuck.
She married Moncie King Horsley, who predeceased her.
She was a member of Museville Christian Church and attended Granberry Methodist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Iris Evelyn Moore of Martinsville; eight grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two sisters, Connie Robertson and Louise Powell; one brother, Gary Tuck; and one grandchild.
A funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at McKee-Stone Funeral Chapel with the Rev. J.D. Hunt and Rev. Alvin Joe Nunley officiating. Burial will be in Museville Christian Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Lemma Myers

DANVILLE, Va. - Lemma Roxie Myers, 99, of 7014 Lakeview Terrace, died Thursday, Jan.
13, 2000, in Piney Forest Health Care Center.
Born Oct. 17, 1900, in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of Scott Reynolds and Elizabeth H. Reynolds.
She married Christopher C. Myers, who predeceased her.
She was a member of Watson Level Baptist Church and served as church mother until her health declined.
Survivors include four stepchildren, G.W. Myers of Washington, Martha Dickerson of Union Dale, N.Y., Mary A. Fuller of Danville, and Liza Jones of Flushing, NY; 19 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Watson Level Baptist Church with the Rev. Katie McKenzie officiating. Burial will be in church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the residence of the Rev. and Mrs. Wainwright, 7014 Lakeview Terrace.
Howerton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Keister Perkins

HALIFAX, Va. - Keister Conelious Perkins, 79, of 1105 Union Church Road, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2000, at his residence.
Born Sept. 29, 1920, in Halifax County, he was the son of Joseph Perkins and Mamie Lee Simmons Perkins.
He married Margaret Conner Perkins, who survives.
He attended Revelation Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife of Halifax, survivors include one daughter, Wanda Womack of Scottsburg; one sister, Bernice Spencer of Crystal Hill; five brothers, Branford L. Perkins,
Theodore E. Perkins, Wesley M. Perkins and Thurman F. Perkins, all of Halifax and Lawrence Perkins of Cluster Springs; and four grandchildren.
He was predeceased by one son, Keister Vann Perkins; two brothers, Uley W. Perkins and Howard Perkins; three sisters, Ethel Perkins, Aileen Stevens and Doris McDaniel.
A funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Rudolph Jacobs officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Saturday at Powell Funeral Home and at other times at the residence.

Joyce Wilson

DANVILLE, Va. - Joyce Lee Wilson, 63, of 1156 South Main St., died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Oct. 1, 1936, in Danville, she was the daughter of Fred Howard and Inez Holdness.
She married James T. Wilson, who survives.
She worked in the housekeeping department at Danville Regional Medical Center prior to her retirement.
In addition to her husband, survivors include one daughter, Diane Wilson Onwuchekwa of Columbia, Md., one son, David Lee Wilson of Danville; three sisters, Peggy Hairston and Geraldine Brockmond, both of Danville and Rose Richardson of Hampton; one brother, Charles Holdness of Danville; and three grandchildren.
A funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Fisher and Watkins Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lawrence Carter officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the residence.

Ruth Barker

RINGGOLD, Va. - Ruth Chaney Barker, 94, of 1140 Countryside Drive, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2000, at Danville Regional Medical Center after declining health of one year, and a two week stay in the hospital.
Born Jan. 10, 1906, in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of James Henry Chaney and Lily Dodson Chaney.
She married Hugh Willard Barker, who predeceased her in April 1967.
She had lived all her life in the Sutherlin and Ringgold communities of Pittsylvania County where she was a homemaker.
She was a member of Ringgold Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Nancy Barker Snead of Ringgold, Joan Barker Sanger of Linville, and Mary Barker Seely of Mechanicsville; three sisters, Mary C. Bennet of Sutherlin, Patsy C. Guill of Altavista, and Helen C. Burton of South Boston; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and two great great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by one son, Ronald (John) Barker, and one grandson.
A funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday, at Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel, with the Rev. Carl Burger officiating. Interment icon will follow in Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends at the residence of Nancy B. Snead, 1140 Countryside Dr.
Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
