Virginia, U.S., Marriage Records, 1936-2014

Randolph Andrews

BLAIRS, Va. - Randolph Carson "Randy" Andrews, 53, of Route 29, died April 29, 2000 at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born May 13, 1946 in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of Charlie Donald Andrews and Mary East Andrews. He was a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Donald Andrews of Danville, Tony Andrews of Pelham, N.C. and William King of Danville; one daughter, Lisa A. Glore of Cornelia, Ga.; a devoted friend, Patricia Francis of Blairs; three brothers, J.T. Andrews of Greensboro, N.C., Wayne Andrews of Halifax and Ralph Andrews of Blairs; four sisters, Joan Crowder of Halifax, Raye Henderson of Vernon Hill, Peggy Walker and Ruby Betterton, both of South Boston; and eight grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Ollis Andrews and one sister, Alease Stephens.
A funeral was held at 2 p.m. Monday from Powell Funeral Home with the Rev. Rudolph Jacobs officiating. Interment icon will follow in Mt. Vernon Baptist Church cemetery.
The family received friends Sunday evening.

Christopher Lee Hughes

ROANOKE, Va. - Christopher Lee Hughes, 30, formerly of Danville, died Sunday, April 30, 2000 at Avante Hospice in Roanoke, Virginia, following a brief illness.
Born May 27, 1969, he was a son of Michael and Angela Hughes.
In addition to his parents of the Mount Cross community, survivors include a daughter, Kimber Dawn Hughes of Roanoke, Brother and Sister-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Andrew Hughes, two nieces, paternal grandmother, Virginia Hughes; maternal grandmother, Mildred Isom and a paternal great grandmother, Ella McClanahan, all of Danville.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 3rd, 7:30 p.m. at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, other times the family will receive friends at the parents home, 1180 Campview Road, Danville, Va.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a favorite charity or a special fund at Mount Olivet United Methodust Church, 229 Mt. Olivet Lane, Danville, Va. 24540.
Wilkerson Funeral Home in Reidsville, N.C. is in charge of arrangements.

Hattie Marshall

RINGGOLD, Va. - Hattie Stone Marshall, 81, of 2196 Cedar Road, Mountain Hill Community died Tuesday, May 2, 2000, at Danville Regional Medical Center after several years of declining health and a four-day stay in the hospital.
Born March 20, 1919, in Danville, she was the daughter of Dwight William Stone and Versie Sauls Stone.
On Sept. 23, 1939, she was married to Lloyd Lee Marshall, who predeceased her Aug. 31, 1994. She had lived all of her life in the Mountain Hill community of Pittsylvania County. She had worked for a number of years in the nursery and labor and delivery department of the former Danville Memorial Hospital. In her earlier years, she attended the former Mountain Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Lloyd James Marshall of Danville; three half brothers, Dwight Stone of Danville, and Steven Stone and Ikey Stone of South Carolina; two half sisters, Gracie Stone of Danville and Aileen Holder of Dover, Del.; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A graveside funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Highland Burial Park with the Rev. Neal Isom officiating.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday at Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel and other times at the residence.

Charlie Pruitt

RINGGOLD, Va. - Charlie Willard Pruitt, 78, of 4325 Kentuck Road, died Tuesday, May 2, 2000, at Durham Regional Medical Center.
Born March 30, 1922, in Caswell County, N.C., he was the son of Charlie Pruitt and Martha Terrell Pruitt.
On Dec. 15, 1966, he was married to Charlotte Tate Pruitt, who survives. He worked at Dan River Inc. as an Overseer until his retirement. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Army, having reached the rank of sergeant. He was a former member of the V.F.W. post in Danville before his health failed. He was of the Methodist faith.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include one daughter, Vickie D. Cambell of Ringgold; one step daughter, Debra R. Carter of Penhook; two step sons, Danny Raynor and Steve Raynor, both of Ringgold; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by one brother, Presly Pruitt; and two sisters, Garnetta Williams and Florence Pruitt.
A graveside funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Floral Hills Memory Gardens with the Rev. Claude Bailey officiating. Graveside military honors will be performed by American Legion Memorial Post 1097 Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Barker Funeral Home and other times at the residence.

Rebecca Rowland

GRETNA, Va. - Sarah Rebecca Rowlnd, age 87, of 685 Hodnetts Road, Gretna, died May 2, 2000 in Piney Forest Health Care Center.
Born January 14, 1913 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Henry David Rowland and Mattie Lovelace Rowland. Mrs. Rowland was a member of Greenfield Baptist Church where she was a member of the WMU, a member of the Mattie Rowland Circle and a former Sunday School Teacher. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Buford B. Rowland of the residence; a sister, Clara McMann of Danville; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 4, 2000 at Greenfield Baptist Church by Rev. R.G. Rowland. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2000 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times at the residence, 685 Hodnetts Road, Gretna.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Gretna Resque Squad, P.O. Box 14, Gretna, Va. 24557.

Willard Stewart

DANVILLE, Va. - Willard Lenoard Stewart, 43, of 1444 Aspen St., died Sunday, April 30, 2000, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Nov. 12, 1956, in Roxboro, N.C., he was the son of Willie E. Stewart and Mildred Glass Stewart.
He was married to Francine Payne Stewart, who survives. He was employed for many years at Dan River Mills Inc., in the distribution center.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include three daughters, Christina Stewart and Kimberly Stewart, both of Roxboro, N.C., and Chantelle Reed of Danville; one son, Quentin Reed of the residence; two sisters, Annie L. Stewart of Roxboro, N.C. and Evelyn Stewart of Burlington, N.C.; four brothers, James Earl Stewart and Larry D. Stewart of Burlington, N.C., Carl B. Stewart of Timberlake, N.C., and Keith W. Stewart of Roxboro, N.C.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bible Way Cathedral with Apostle Lawrence Cambell officiating. Interment icon will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the residence.

Jack Turner

DANVILLE, Va. - Jack Andrew Turner, 68, of 600 Main St., Apt. 106, died Monday, May 1, 2000, at Danville Regional Medical Center after a one-day stay in the hospital.
Born May 30, 1931, in Danville, he was the son of Leonard Turner, who survives, and the late Ila Harrison Turner.
He had spent all of his life in Danville where he was a self-employed painter before retiring at the age of 62. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his father of Danville, survivors include two daughters, Diane Turner Walker of Danville and Joyce Robertson of Ringgold; one sister, Lillian Gravley of Danville; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends at the residence of Joyce Robertson, 4257 Ringgold Church Road, Ringgold.
A graveside funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Schoolfield cemetery with the Rev. Daniel Lakey officiating.
Swicegood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Artie Watlington Yeatts

RICHMOND, Va. - Mrs. Artie Watlington Yeatts, of 708 Holly Grove Lane, Richmond, Va., formerly of Dry Fork, Va. died in Danville Regional Medical Center, May 2, 2000 after a period of declining health. She died peacefully as she had lived.
She was born on April 19, 1903 in Gretna, Va. the daughter of George E. Watlington and Lemma Simpson Watlington.
As a small child, her family moved to Victoria, Va. where she was reared. On April 19, 1920 she married the Reverend Dr. Dewey Yeatts who predeceased her in death on August 1, 1980. She served faithfully with her husband of sixty years in his pastoral duties and the years her husband served as the Supt. of the Western North Carolina Conference of the Pentecostal Holiness Church. She touched many lives with her gentle, kind Christ-like life. On August 22, 1926, she united with the Emmanuel Pentecostal Holiness Church, Dry Fork, Va. and remained faithful to her church until God called her home.
Survivors include six daughters and two sons: Elsie Y. Arnn and husband, Harold, Dry Fork, Va., Faye Y. Taylor and husband, Rev. Henry W. Taylor, Danville, Va., Helen Y. Lewis, Poquson, Va., Alma Y. Stowe and husband, Rev. Curtis Stowe, Eden, N.C., Barbara Y. Hardy and husband, Rev. Thomas Hardy, Richmond, Va., Rachel Y. Hall and husband, John, Blairs, Va., Harold Yeatts and wife, Carol, of Dry Fork, Va. and Rev. Dail Yeatts and wife, Claudine, Midlothian, Va.; also fourteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and one brother, Ernest Cullop of Alexandria, Va.
She was predeceased by: her father, George E. Watlington, her mother, Lemma Watlington Cullop, her step-father, Charles P. Cullop, her grandsons, George "Little Henry" Taylor, Danville, Va., and Stanley Lewis, Poquson, Va., her son-in-law, Edgar Lewis, Poquson, Va., her sisters, Anna Shields, Roanoke, Va., Fannie Baldwin, Newport News, Va., and Thelma Fletcher, Tampa, Fla; and her brother, Hugh Watlington, Virginia Beach, Va.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, May 5, 2000 at 1:00 p.m. from Townes Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Roger Collins, Rev. Harry Marly and Rev. Charles Arnold officiating. Interment icon will be in Highland Burial Park.
Townes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements and the family will receive friends at the home of the Rev. and Mrs. Henry W. Taylor, 526 Crestview Drive.

Susie Andrews

DANVILLE, Va. - Susie Dunn Andrews, 84, of 169 Rocklawn Ave., died Monday, May 1, 2000, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Aug. 25, 1915, in Danville, she was the daughter of William Rhinaldo Dunn and Lucie Walker Dunn.
On Dec. 27, 1938, she was married to Edwin Randolph Andrews, who predeceased her Dec. 5, 1993. She lived her entire life in the Danville area where she was a member of Moffett Memorial Baptist Church and the Loyal Workers Sunday School Class. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include one son, Edwin Jack Andrews of Danville; two daughters, Loretta Lea A. Stowe of Axton and Betty Carol A. King of Danville; one sister, Frances D. Fredrick of Berlin, Md.; one brother, Frank E. Dunn of Richmond; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by four brothers, Edmund "Ned" Dunn, Julian W. Dunn, John L. "Jack" Dunn and George Clifton Dunn.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Highland Burial Park with the Rev. Lee Ellison and the Rev. Alan Holder officiating.
The family received friends from 7:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel and other times at the residence.

John Boone

HURT, Va. - John Jasper Boone, 75, of 3020 Dews Road, died Tuesday, May 2, 2000, at his residence.
Born Jan. 31, 1925 in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of Oscar Boone and Frances Gilbert Boone.
He was married to Cora Stone Boone, who predeceased him. He was a member of Staunton Baptist Church and a self-employed carpenter.
Survivors include three sons, John Boone of Clinton, Md., Randy Boone of East Orange, N.J. and Billy Boone of Accokeck, Md.; two daughters, Arlene Pannell and Mary Berger, both of Long Island, Va.; one stepson, Russell Stone of Oxen Hill, Md.; one stepdaughter, Juanita Gilbert of Long Island; two brothers, Harold Gilbert and Irvin Boone of Long Island; two sisters, Rosa Grasty and Erma Carroll, both of Willow Grove, Pa.; 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday from the Chapel of Miller Funeral Home with Elder John Boone officiating. Interment icon will follow in Staunton Baptist Church cemetery, Long Island.
The family will receive friends at the residence of Hayward and Arlene Pannell, 5285 Level Run Road, Long Island, Va.
