Gloria Wilborne

CLOVER, Va. - Gloria Randall Wilborne, 69, died Sunday, May 7, 2000, at Woodview Nursing Home, South Boston.
She was born April 6, 1931 in New York City.
She is survived by her two daughters, Denise Dance of South Boston and Debora Bates of Clover; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Delores Shun of Staten Island, N.Y.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday from Bethel Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Robert Vanhook and the Rev. James Coleman officiating. Interment icon will follow in the church cemetery.
A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. The family will receive friends at the residence of Charity Garrett, 1212 Garrett's Trail, Clover.
Crawford, Garrett & Burton Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.

Terry Cashen

DANVILLE, Va. - Terry Cashen, who was born December 7, 1945, died Monday afternoon May 8th. He was the son of Wilford and Dorothy Cashen.
He is survived by his wife Jennifer Samuels Cashen of Danville; a brother, Richard Benson, his sisters, Alice Young, Gloria McCarthy, and Dorothy Kessler all of upstate New York.
A private memorial service will be held for family and friends.
In Lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity. It's something Terry would have preferred.

Pauline Eanes

MARTINSVILLE, Va. - Pauline Hankins Eanes, 72, of 15 North Fork Road, died Tuesday, May 9, 2000, at her sister's residence in Ridgeway.
Born Sept. 20, 1927, in Axton, she was the daughter of Lawrence C. Hankins and Lizzie Eanes Hankins.
She was married to James A. Eanes, who predeceased her. She was owner and operator of Pauline Eanes Grocery in Leatherwood for 45 years. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include two brothers, L.C. Hankins Jr. of Mechanicburg, Pa. and Melvin Hankins of Brosville, and three sisters, O'Beria Furr of Brosville, Inez Ball of Danville and Juanita Yarbrough of Ridgeway.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Clarence A. Hankins and Woodrow H. Hankins.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Norris Funeral Services with the Chaplain Paul Been officiating. Interment icon will be at Roselawn Burial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday at Norris Funeral Services, and other times at the residence of Juanita Yarbrough, 79 Kilarney Court, Ridgeway.

Rebecca Farris

TROUTVILLE, Va. - Rebecca (Becky) Bauserman Farris, 39, of Troutville, passed away Saturday, May 6, 2000. She was the daughter of Lester A. and Carrie R. Bauserman. She is also survived by her daughter, Amber R. Beasley, Troutville; grandson, Christian Nathaniel Thomas, a brother and sister-in-law, Allen and Amy Bauserman, Clemmons, N.C.; four nieces and six nephews; and a beloved pet beagle, Snoopy. Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2000 at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel, with the Rev. Charles H. Ward officiating. Interment icon was in Evergreen Burial Park. Arrangements by Oakey's Roanoke Chapel.

Alice Marlowe

CALLANDS, Va. - Alice Elizabeth Marlowe age 82 of 2557 Robinhood Road Callands, Virginia died May 9, 2000 at her residence in Callands. Miss Marlowe was born January 7, 1918 in Pittsylvania County Virginia.
She was the daughter of the late William David Marlow and Mary Giles Marlow. She is survived by two sister, Callie M. Wells and Eva Marlow Atkins both of Callands; one brother, Hassell G. Marlowe of Callands. She was predeceased by three sisters and four brothers, Elsie M. Gauldin, Mary Rebecca Gauldin, Nannie M. Hankins, Harvey Marlowe, H.L Marlowe, Henry Marlowe, and Arthur Marlowe. She was a member of County Line Christian Church. Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday May 11, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. from the County Line Christian Church by Dean Ashby, Minister and J.D. Hunt III, Minister.
Interment will be in the County Line Christian Church cemetery.
The family received friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday May 10 at County Line Christian Church and at other times will be at the residence of her nephew Glenn Marlowe 2561 Robinhood Road, Callands, Va.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Martinsville, Va. Scott Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Willie Moorman

CRYSTAL HILL, Va. - Willie James Moorman, 91, died Sunday, May 7, 2000, at Piney Forset Health Care Center, Danville.
He was born March 18, 1909 in Halifax County.
Survivors include two brothers, John Moorman and Linzie Moorman of Crystall Hill; two sisters, Mary Holt of Crystal Hill and Velmous Cousin of Albany, N.Y.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sunflower Baptist Church, Nathalie, with the Rev. Robert Tucker officiating. Interment icon will follow in the church cemetery.
A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service.
The family will receive friends at the residence of Linzie Moorman, 1049 Lenning Road, Nathalie.

Beatrice Snyder

CHATHAM, Va. - Beatrice Bryant Snyder, 81, of 120 Hunt St., died Tuesday, May 9, 2000, at her residence.
Born Aug. 1, 1918, in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of George Washington Bryant and Dora Bennett Bryant. She was of the Christian faith.
She was married to Robert G. Snyder, who predeceased her.
Survivors include one sister, Edna B. Adkins of Chatham; one brother, Louis Bryant of Chatham.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Erma B. Cocke and Eva B. Willis, and one brother, Noel Bryant.
A graveside funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Bryant Family cemetery with Rudolph A. Hearn, Minister officiating.
The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Thursday at Scott Funeral Home.

Hattie Terry

SOUTH BOSTON, Va. - Hattie Womack Terry, 61, died Sunday, May 7, 2000, at Halifax Regional Hospital.
She was born Feb. 22, 1939, in Halifax County.
She was married to Henry Terry, who survives.
In addition to her husband of South Boston, survivors include three daughters, Thalia Traynham, Avaris Terry, and JaDaylyn Terry, all of South Boston; one son, Derwin Terry of Cusetta, Ga.; two brothers, William Womack of Halifax and Oscar Womack of Nathalie, and four grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul CME Church, Halifax, with the Rev. Moses Goldmon officiating. Interment icon will follow in the church cemetery.
A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service.
The family will receive friends at the residence, 2001 Siani Road.

Nora Throckmorton

SCOTTSBURG, Va. - Nora V. Throckmorton, 88, of 2057 Green Level Road, died Tuesday, May 9, 2000, at the Woodview.
Born June 7, 1911, in Halifax County, she was the daughter of Greer Hewill Vaughan and Maude Langford Vaughan.
She was married to Walter Abraham Throckmorton. She was a member of the Scottsburg Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Eulalia T. Thomas of Scottsburg, Rebecca T. Whitt of Virgilina, and Nora Lee T. Whitlow of Clover; one son, Henry Hewill Thorckmorton of Scottsburg; four sisters, Dorothy Martin of Mechanicsville, Margurie Ritt of Richmond, and Mae Butler and Virginia Bracy, both of Scottsburg; three brothers, Andrew, George, and Ed Vaughan, all of Scottsburg; seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by one grandson, Glen Whitlow.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Scottsburg Baptist Church with the Rev. H.V. Conner and the Rev. Bob Richards officiating. Interment icon will be in Oakland cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday at Powell Funeral Home.

Iris Wilkerson

DANVILLE, Va. - Iris Hutchinson Wilkerson, 75, of 32 Old Halifax Road, died Wednesday, May 10, 2000, at her residence after four months of declining health.
Born Aug. 16, 1924, in Fries, she was the daughter of Walter R. Hutchinson Sr. and Blanche Roberts Hutchinson.
She was married to Charlie B. Wilkerson, who predeceased her Oct. 27, 1995. She had lived most of her life in Pittsylvania County and Danville. She was employed by Dan River Inc. as a spinner in the #4 Spin of the Schoolfield Division for a number of years until her retirement due to health reasons. She was an active member of State Line Baptist Church for more that 20 years, where she was a member of the Dependable Sunday Class and a nursery worker. She was also a member of the Thursday Afternoon Delight Bowling League.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry Wayne Wilkerson and Ronnie Lee Wilkerson, both of Danville; two brothers, Carlon R. Hutchinson and Walter Ray Hutchinson Jr., both of Danville; four sisters, Doris H. Hankins and Lois H. Moss, both of Danville, Edith H. Hancock of Pelham, N.C. and Wanda H. Doss of Virginia Beach; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by one daughter, Judy Ann Wilkerson Pruitt.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at State Line Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Wallace and the Rev. Fred Cox officiating. Interment icon will be in Danville Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Friday at Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel and other times at the residence.

Duretha Woody

SOUTH BOSTON, Va. -Duretha Jones Woody, 98, died Sunday, May 7, 2000, at her residence.
She was born May 2, 1902, in Halifax County.
Survivors include five daughters, Rebecca Fabian, Virginia Lipscomb, and Helen Terry, all of South Boston, Rosa Williams and Inez Miller, both of New York; one son, Granville Woody Jr. of New York; 36 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Williams Temple CME Church with the Rev. George Brown officiating. Interment icon will follow in the church cemetery.
A viewing will be held one hour prior to service.
The family will receive friends at the residence, 7078 River Road, South Boston.
