Virginia, U.S., Marriage Records, 1936-2014

Ruby Harris

DANVILLE, Va. - Ruby Marie Harris, 58, of 46 Laurel Ave., died Thursday, May 10, 2001, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born April 7, 1943, in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of Norman and Gertrude Gunn Williams, who survive.
She was married to Waverly Harris Jr., who survives. She was a member of Bibleway Worldwide Cathedral and previously worked for Dan River Mills Inc.
Survivors, in addition to her parents and husband of the residence, include four sons, Thomas Davis, Michael Davis, Alex Davis and Ronald Davis, all of Danville; one daughter, Bernice Davis of Danville; one step-daughter, Vernita Harris Coleman of Danville; five sisters, Mary Ferrell and Minnie Eva White, both of Danville, Ceciel Grasty and Josephine Perkins, both of Ringgold and Violet Williams of Washington, D.C.; two brothers, Norman Williams Jr. of Ringgold and Eddie Williams of Alexandria and a number of grandchildren.
The funeral will be held 1 p.m. Monday at Bibleway Worldwide Cathedral with Apostle Lawrence G. Campbell officiating. Interment icon will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the residence.

Annie Harville

DANVILLE, Va. - Annie Katherine Chumley Harville, 74, died Friday, May 11, 2001, at Danville Regional Medical Center after two years of declining health.
Born July 8, 1926, in Eden, N.C., she was the daughter of Oscar Henry Chumley and Annie Ellen Brown Chumley.
She was married to Eugene Harville, who predeceased her. She had been a resident of Piney Forest Health Care Center for one year. She attended Brosville High School and spent most of her life in Danville where she worked for Dan River Inc. for 29 years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include four daughters, Barbara McDowell and Judy Smith, both of Danville, Kathy Dickson of Greensboro, N.C. and Debra Lewis of Winston-Salem, N.C.; one son, Edward Harville of Danville; two sisters, Gladys Mycek of Philadelphia, Pa. and Elsie White of Roanoke; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased, in addition to her parents and husband, by one son, Randy Harville and one brother, George Chumley.
The funeral will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard Markham officiating. Interment icon will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Sunday at Swicegood Funeral Home and other times at the residence of Judy Smith, 1261 Twin Arch Drive.
Swicegood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mary C. Hinson

DANVILLE, Va. - Mary Elizabeth Cullop Gobble Hinson, 85, of Pinecrest Adult Home, died Wednesday, May 9, 2001, at Danville Regional Medical Center after three weeks of declining health and two and a half weeks in the hospital.
Born February 18, 1916, in Washington County, VA, she was the daughter of Arthur Cullop (deceased) and Ida Elizabeth Parris Cullop (deceased).
She was of the methodist faith. She lived most of her life in Danville, VA. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include daughter, Sylvia G. Hughes of Danville, VA; brothers, Gaylord Cullop of Bristol, VA, Fred Cullop of Bristol, VA and Kenneth Cullop of Bristol, VA; sisters, Eloise C. Miller of Bristol, VA and JoAnn C. Blalock of Bristol, VA; grandchildren, Mark B. Hughes of Danville, VA, Lynn J. Hughes of Danville, VA, Sandra H. Self of Greensboro, N.C., Gena B. Hughes of Danville, VA and Jon M. Hughes of Danville, VA and 8 great-grandchildren.
The Graveside service will be held Friday, May 11, 2001, at 2:00 P.M. with Elder Doug Curry officiating. Interment icon will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens.
The family will be at the residence.
Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Martha Liverant

YORK, Pa. - Martha "Anne" Turner Liverant, 76, formerly of Danville, Va., died Thursday, May 10, 2001, at Colonial Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born Sept. 28, 1924, in Danville, Va., she was the daughter of Robert E. Turner Jr. and Lena Stultz Turner.
She was married to Spencer R. Liverant, who predeceased her. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of York and Daughters of American Revolution.
Survivors include one daughter, Anne Peyton Liverant of York; two brothers, James M. Turner Sr. and Robert E. Turner III, both of Danville, Va. and two sisters, Alice T. Ray of York and Scott T. Gailey of Malverne, Chester County.
The memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Monday at John Calvin Chapel at First Presbyterian Church of York, 225 East Market St., York, PA 17403 with Rev. Dr. John E. Morgan and Mrs. Donald R. Zobler officiating. A private interment will be held at Highland Burial Park in Danville, Va.
The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church of York.
Heffner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Luther Holley

DRY FORK, Va. - Luther Carter Holley, 90, of 660 Whitmell School Road, died Friday, May 11, 2001, at Roman Eagle Memorial Home.
Born March 26, 1911, in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of Cabel Holley and Cora Grant Holley.
He was married Dec. 25, 1934, to Lalia Oberia Stowe Holley, who predeceased him Sept. 10, 2000. He lived his entire life in the Whitmell Community where he farmed for many years. He was a member of Whitmell United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Ronnie M. Holley of Whitmell and David L. Holley of Quinton; two daughters, Esther H. Wood and Sylvia H. Tate, both of Danville; one brother, Charlie H. Holley of Dry Fork; two sisters, Annie H. Stowe and Thelma H. Stowe, both of Dry Fork; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased, in addition to his wife and parents, by two sisters, Leslie H. McCroskey and Virginia Mae Holley and one brother, Fredrick D. Holley.
The funeral will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel with the Rev. Don Warrick officiating. Interment icon will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Sunday at Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel and other times at the residence.

Shirley Logan

ALEXANDRIA, Va. - Shirley Lucille Birch Logan, 47, died Thursday, May 10, 2001, at Mount Vernon Hospital in Alexandria.
She was married to Johnnie Logan, who survives.
Survivors, in addition to her husband of Alexandria, include three daughters, Angela Logan, Amelia Logan and Annette Logan, all of Alexandria; two sons, Jonathan Logan of Washington, D.C. and Johnnie Logan Jr. of Atlanta, Ga.; four grandchildren and one brother, Rober Birch.
The funeral will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Crawford, Garrett and Burton Funeral Service Chapel in Halifax with the Rev. James Traynham officiating. Interment icon will follow at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church cemetery in Nathalie.
Crawford, Garrett and Burton Funeral Services Inc. is in charge of arrangements.

William A. ‘Bill’ Moore Sr.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - William A. "Bill" Moore Sr., 68, died Sunday, May 13, 2001, at his residence in Charlottesville.
Born July 5, 1932, in Danville, he was the son of Adolphus D. and Elizabeth Dunevant Moore. He was employed by Sperry as an electronic technician for 34 years. He was a member of Jefferson Park Avenue Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Thomas Edwin Moore.
Survivors include his wife, Anne Moore; one son, William Moore Jr. of Charlottesville; one daughter, Patricia Davis of Blacksburg, Va.; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at Jefferson Park Avenue Baptist Church, with Jeff Riddle officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Benevolent Fund, Jefferson Park Avenue Baptist Church, 2505 Jefferson Park Ave., Charlottesville, VA 22903.

Mable Morris

DANVILLE, Va. - Mable Edith Ferrell Morris, 85, of 10 Oakland Ave., died Friday, May 11, 2001, at Danville Regional Medical Center after four years of declining health and five days in the hospital.
Born March 26, 1916, in Danville, she was the daughter of Frank Thomas Ferrell and Mary Elizabeth Jennings Ferrell.
She was married Oct. 12, 1935, to Richard Daniel Morris, who predeceased her Jan. 10, 1962. She was a member of St. Mark Pentecostal Holiness Church and served on the Board of Trustees, as a Sunday School teacher and secretary and treasurer of the Ladies Auxiliary. She lived her entire life in Danville and retired from Dan River Mills Inc. where she worked in the No. 6 Wind Department.
Survivors include two sons, Richard Lee Morris of South Boston and Larry Gene Morris of Danville; one daughter, Joyce Ann Lewis of the residence; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased, in addition to her parents and husband, by two sons, Charles Alvin Morris and Michael Dean Morris; two sisters, Mattie F. Moore and Dorothy F. Lawhorne and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be held 4 p.m. Sunday at St. Mark Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Henry W. Taylor officiating. Interment icon will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Saturday at Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel and other times at the residence.
The family suggests memorials may be made to St. Mark Pentecostal Holiness Church Building Fund, Route 3, Danville, VA 24540.

Ronald Oakes Sr.

BLAIRS, Va. - Ronald Gene Oakes Sr., 55, of 501 Chestnut Level Lane, died unexpectedly at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Feb. 14, 1946, in Danville, he was the son of Charlie Edward Oakes and Lois Cassada Oakes, who survive.
He was married to Gail Watlington Oakes, who survives. He was a member of Christian Heritage Church and was a veteran of the National Guard. He was Vice President of Eagles and was a 32nd Degree Mason. He was a member of Eno Golf Association. He worked with the Danville Fire Department for 16 years and worked as a construction worker and welder. He owned and operated Arnette Blvd. Amoco and Riverside Amoco stations.
Survivors, in addition to his parents of Danville and his wife of the residence, include one son, Ronald Gene Oakes Jr. of Dry Fork and three sisters, Brenda O. Hoover of Cedar Grove, N.C., Kathy O. Newcomb of Winston-Salem, N.C. and Sue Hair of Ringgold.
The funeral will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Christian Heritage Church, Route 29 North, with the Rev. Barry Crumpton officiating. Entombment will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday at Christian Heritage Church and other times at the residence of his parents, 146 Orchard Drive.

Randall Owen

DANVILLE, Va. - Randall Trent "Randy" Owen, 57, of 172 Knollwood Terrace, died Thursday, May 10, 2001 at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Owen was born on September 30, 1943 in Halifax County, the son of the late Walter E. Owen, Sr. and Lora Trent Owen who survives.
He was married to Judy Brandon Owen who survives at the residence.
Mr. Owen was a member of North Main Baptist Church. He was a past member of the Danville Civitan Club. Mr. Owen was employed by Safety-Kleen of Reidsville, N.C. where he was an Accounting Manager.
Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by two sons, Brandon Trent Owen and Trevor Gordon Owen, both of the residence; one daughter, Teresa Owen Blanks and a granddaughter, Kristin Leigh Blanks, both of Scotch Plains, N.J. and one brother, Walter E. Owen, Jr. of Gaylord, MI.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, May 13, 2001, 2:00 P.M. at Townes Memorial Chapel. Rev. Freddie Vicks will be conducting the services.
The family will receive friends Saturday, May 12, 2001, 7:00 to 8:30 P.M. at Townes Funeral Home. Other times the family will be at the residence.
The family suggests that in Lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to the Danville Life Saving Crew.

Edward Price

DANVILLE, Va. - Edward Columbus Price, 72, of 421 Freeze Road, died Saturday, May 12, 2001, in Chippenham Medical Center.
Born Feb. 10, 1929, he was a son of Columbus Price and Lurendy Coles Price. He was married to Irene E. Price, who predeceased him.
Survivors include two sons, Ronnie Price and Barry Price, both of Richmond; and two grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Smith Chapel Baptist Church in Pelham, N.C., with the Rev. Scovens officiating. Interment icon will follow in Memorial Gardens cemetery.
A viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Beavers Funeral Home, 355 Holbrook St.
