COX, Edna Louise Weil

Edna Louise Weil Cox, 93 of Dublin, passed away Monday, December 13, 2004 at the New River Valley Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Cox. She attended the Dublin Baptist Church and was a member of College Road Church of Christ, Palatka, Fla. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Jacqueline Earnist and Jerry Watson of Dublin; a brother, Edward Weil of Hinesville, Ga.; two granddaughters, Piper Earnist Balch and Sonja Young; one great-grandson, Ryan Cody Balch; and many other precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren and family. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 18, 2004 at 11 a.m. at the Masters Funeral Home in Palatka, Fla. with Pastor C. L. Overturf officiating. Interment icon will follow in Palatka Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Joy Ranch, P.O. Box 727, Hillsville, Va. 24343. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday at the Masters Funeral Home and also from 5 until 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford, Va.

CROWDER, Glenn Thomas

Glen Thomas Crowder, 56, of Pulaski, passed away Monday, December 13, 2004. Funeral 11 a.m. Thursday from Stevens Funeral Chapel. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski.

DALTON, Everett Johnson

Everett Johnson Dalton, 66, of 3780 Lead Mine Road, Hiwassee, passed away Monday, December 13, 2004 at the Pulaski Community Hospital. Born December 10, 1938 in Draper, Virginia, he was the son of the late Garfield Dalton. A son, Larry Dalton also preceded him in death. He was a member of the Max Creek Baptist Church and a former employee of Xaloy, Inc. with over 30 years of service. Surviving are his wife, Belva Dishon Dalton, Hiwassee; son, Steve Dalton, Snowville; mother, Maggie Marshall Dalton, Pulaski; grandchildren, Bronson Dalton, Travis Dalton, Kari Dalton; brother, Burley Dalton, Draper; sisters, Agnes Rumley, Pulaski, Lorraine Kemp, North Carolina, Nita Dalton, Maryland; daughter-in-law, Donna Dalton, Snowville; mother-in-law, Hassie Dishon, Snowville. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at the Max Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Michael Coleman officiating. Interment icon will follow at the Dishon Family cemetery (Snowville). The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bower Funeral Chapel, 1631 Bobwhite Blvd., Pulaski. Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski is handling the arrangements.

DICKERSON, Wiliam Harman

William Harman Dickerson (Buster), 80, of Floyd, passed away Monday, December 13, 2004. He was a faithful member of New Haven Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher. Buster served his country in World War II in the Navy as a Gunner Man 3rd Class. He retired from Radford Army Arsenal Plant. He was preceded in death by a son, William Dickerson; grandson, Matt Phillips. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Annie Dickerson; four children and spouses, Roger and Sheila Dickerson, Floyd, Lona and Michael Sowers, Floyd, Dr. Bruce and Becky Dickerson, Biscoe, N.C., Anna Matz, Salem; four grandchildren, David and wife, Kristen Dickerson, Floyd, Katrina and husband, Josh Ferguson, Copper Hill, Josh Dickerson, Brittany Dickerson, both of Biscoe, N.C.; great-granddaughter, Kaitlin Ferguson; two sisters, Elsie Radford, Floyd, Blanche Correll, Woolwine; two brothers, Charlie Dickerson, Bassett, Chris Dickerson, Floyd; special friend, Jerry Long, Floyd; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 16, 2004 at New Haven Baptist Church with Rev. Leon Wood officiating. Interment icon will follow in Jacksonville cemetery with military graveside rites by Floyd V.F.W. #7854 and American Legion Post 127. Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Gardner Funeral Home where the family will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Gardner Funeral Home, Floyd, is in charge of the arrangements.

HUNT, Louvenia Malenda Buford

Louvenia Malenda Buford Hunt, 93, of Pulaski, passed away Friday, December 10, 2004. Funeral service 2 p.m. Friday at the Randolph Avenue United Methodist Church, Pulaski. Arrangements by Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski.

JOHNSON, Kathryn Anne Haynes

Kathryn Anne Haynes (Kitty) Johnson, 77, died Sunday, December 12, 2004. She was born in Christiansburg to the late Minor and Pearl Haynes. In addition to her parents, brothers, Bill and Jim and a sister, Mary Virginia, precede her in death. Kitty is survived by her devoted husband of 53 years, Tom Johnson of Christiansburg; a sister, Jo Shufflebarger, Carlisle, Pa.; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jay and Amy Johnson, Blacksburg, Tim and Loleta Johnson, Roanoke, David and Alison Johnson, Yorktown; nine grandchildren, Erin and Katie Johnson, Blacksburg, Matt, Kristen, Chaz, Preston and Josie Johnson, Roanoke, Tommy and Sammy Johnson, Yorktown. Kitty will be fondly remembered for her absolute devotion to her family, her smile and sense of humor, her gentle nature, and her love of music and singing. Especially dear to her was choral music and she performed with several groups during her life. She was a lifelong member of the Christiansburg Presbyterian Church and sang in the chancel choir for approximately 50 years. The heavenly choir has just gained a fine alto. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests remembrances to the organ fund or the chancel choir at Christiansburg Presbyterian Church. A service celebrating her life will be held at Christiansburg Presbyterian Church on Thursday, December 16, 2004 at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends immediately thereafter in the Fellowship Hall. The Johnson Family is being served by Horne Funeral & Cremation Service, Christiansburg.

KINSLEY, Betty Paulette Shaver

Betty Paulette Shaver Kinsley, 55, of Christiansburg died Sunday, December 12, 2004, at Montgomery Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, December 15, 2004 at 11 a.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. Interment icon will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens Christiansburg. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, SW, Blacksburg, Va.

MITCHEM, Nellie Gray

Nellie Gray Mitchem, of Elliston, was reunited with her family that had preceded her in death on Monday morning, December 13, 2004. Her surviving family include her husband, Henry Eskell Mitchem; a son, Charles Henry Mitchem and his wife, Mary; daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth and Sammy Doss, Nellie Mae Sparks, Lucy M. and Jake Gobble; grandchildren, Charles David Mullins, Jr., Jessica Mitchum, Franklin Mitchum, Jr., Alvin Sparks, Jr., Samantha Witt, Marlena Gobble, Heather R. Mitchem, Heath Mitchem, and Nathan Mitchem; brother, Frank Wright; sisters, Molly Miller, Rosie Davis, Pat Puckett, Dorie Thompson; three great-grandchildren. The family is planning a private service this week and would like to thank the doctors, Clifford Culpepper and Richard Prokopchak for their excellent care given to Nellie. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation at 5001 W. Broad St., Suite 217, Richmond, Va. 23230. Arrangements by John M. Oakey & Son, Salem.

MOORE, Raymond Clifford

Raymond Clifford Moore, 81 of Radford, passed away Monday, December 13, at the New River Valley Medical Center. He was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church in Radford, a retired employee of Burlington Mills with over 47 years of service, and a veteran of the US Army. Survivors include a brother, Huston Moore of Greenville, S.C.; two brothers-in-law, Melvin Dobbins of Radford, and Ralph L. Dobbins of Christiansburg; and a sister-in-law, Lucille D. Newman of Hillsville. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 16, 2004 at 11 a.m. at the Gethsemane Baptist Church in Radford with Pastor Jerry Gibson officiating. Interment icon will follow in Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin, where members of VFW Post #776 will conduct military graveside rites. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.

MURDOCK, Olga Elizabeth

Olga Elizabeth (Candy) Murdock, 83, of Blacksburg, died Sunday, December 12, 2004 at Montgomery Regional Hospital. She was born in Erie, Pa. on August 22, 1921 to the late Dominick and Rachael Calabrese Izzi. She was a member of the Blacksburg Baptist Church and the Mt. Tabor Ruritan Club. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth L. Murdock of Blacksburg; a son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Mary Ellen Nowak of Winter Springs, Fla.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Tilley and Tommy Eulano of Anaheim Hills, Calif., Gilda and Jerry Wall of Encino, Calif.; four grandchildren, Tommy Nowak, Susan Guzman, Michael Nowak, Ann Cassen; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, December 16, 2004 at 2 p.m. in the Blacksburg Baptist Church with Dr. Tommy R. McDearis and Dr. Don McKinney officiating. Interment icon will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time at the church. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr., Blacksburg.

DALTON, Walter Reynolds

Walter Reynolds Dalton, 81, of Chesterfield, Va., went to be with the Lord on December 13, 2004. He was a former resident of Pulaski, Va. and was retired from McLean Trucking Company after 30 years of service. He was also a veteran of World War II. Mr. Dalton was a member of Fair Haven Methodist Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Josie Finn Dalton; three sons, Terry and Sherrie of Richmond, Steve and Pat of Mechanicsville, Stuart and Kim of Powhatan; one daughter, Dreama and Ken Whitaker of Hanover; two daughters-in-law, Susan and Joyce Dalton; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Edith Brown of Radford and Alice Knode of Pulaski. The family will receive friends at the Morrissett Funeral Home, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rt. 10), Richmond, Va. from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday. Interment icon in Dale Memorial Park. Edrie (Tootie) Speese Snyder, 90, of Front Royal, died Sunday, December 12, 2004 at The Southerlands Retirement Community in Front Royal. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 18, 2004 at 1 p.m. at The Southerlands conducted by Dr. C. Thomas Rhyne. Mrs. Snyder was born March 28, 1914 in Roanoke, daughter of Earl and Lillian Speese. She attended Roanoke College in the class of 1937. She was a member of the Front Royal Presbyterian Church and a volunteer for the Warren Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, a member of the Front Royal Chamber of Commerce and a Rotarian Paul Harris Fellow. She was an active gardener and an avid golfer. Surviving are her husband of 63 years, Albert E. Snyder of Front Royal; two daughters, Sande Adams of Springfield, Missouri and Dottie Moore of Front Royal; one sister, Cathlyn McInteer of Richmond, Va.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandsons. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Auxiliary of Warren Memorial Hospital, c/o Warren Memorial Hospital, 1000 N. Shenandoah Ave., Front Royal, Va. 22630. Maddox Funeral Home, Front Royal, Virginia, is in charge of the arrangements.
