LAURA M. BLINCOE

Laura Mae (Barnette) Blincoe, 79, widow of Harold E. Blincoe, of 502 College Circle, Staunton died at 8:40 p.m. Sunday (July 27, 2003) in her residence.

She was born May 13, 1924, in Albemarle County, a daughter of Vernon and Clara (Marrs) Barnette.

Before retirement, Mrs. Blincoe was employed as a sales clerk for Leggett Department Store and a housewife.

She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Charlottesville, and had attended Linden Heights Baptist Church, Staunton. She was also a member of the Staunton Senior Club, Women of the Moose, and helped with Meals on Wheels.

Family members include a son Harold E. Blincoe, Jr. of Ruckersville; two daughters, Phyllis Arnette of Scottsville, and Toni Blincoe of Staunton; four grandchildren, Laura Jones, Jarrett Arnette, Adam Blincoe, and Joe Blincoe; and one great granddaughter, Lauren Jones.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

A funeral service will be conducted Thursday (July 31, 2003) at 11 a.m. in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. David Anderson. Graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. in Monticello Memory Gardens in Charlottesville.

The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2003 at the funeral home and other times at the residence.

Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels Program, Senior Center, Memorial Baptist Church, 224 Taylor Street, Staunton, Va. 24401, AMC Hospice of the Shenandoah, P. O. Box 215, Fishersville, Va. 22939 or American Diabetes Association, P. O. Box 2855, Staunton, Va. 24402.

Betty Lucas Byrne

Betty Frances King Lucas Stone Byrne, 79, of Radford, died Tuesday July 2003 at her home. She was born November 4, 1923 at Saint Albans Hospital. She is survived by her children: John R. Lucas, Jr., Richard C. Lucas, his wife Lisa, Lee Lucas Woodford, her husband Hugh and James A. Stevens.

She is also survived by her grandson, Jason C. Lucas of Raleigh, N.C.

A memorial service will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, Radford, Va. on Saturday August 2, 2003 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Christ Lutheran Church Memorial Garden, 205 Harvey Street, Radford, Va. 24141.

Johnny E. Corbin

Funeral services for Johnny E. Corbin will be held today at 11 a.m. at the Preddy Funeral Chapel Orange with interment in Graham cemetery wilt full military honors by American Legion Post #330 of Culpeper. The Rev. Mort Robson and the Rev. John Hodgen will officiate.

A graveside service for Page Warren Foster will be held at 11 a.m. today, at Mountain Plain cemetery in Crozet, Va. with Rev. David E. Collyer, officiating.

Brain P. Gibson

Aviation Structural Mechanic (Aviation Warfare/ Navel Aircrewman) First Class Petty Officer Brian Patrick Gibson, 33, of Greenwood, Va. died on Wednesday July 16, 2003 in a helicopter crash near Naval Air Station Sigonella located in Sicily, Italy. Brian "Gibby" Gibson served in the United States Navy for over 12 years. He was born May 28, 1970 in Charlottesville, Va.

He arrived at Helicopter Support Squadron Four (HC-4) in 1992, where he attained qualifications as a MH-53E Helicopter Crew Chief, Quality Assurance Inspector, Assistant NATOPS Instructor and Functional Checkflight Crewchief. While at HC-4, he detached to such locations as Babrain, Italy, Albania, Sierra Leone, and Libera where he participated in Operation Assured Response in 1995.

In 1998 he transferred to NAS Sigonella Operations to fly on the UC-12 and the UC-26 aircraft. He attained qualifications as NATOPS Program Manager and compiled over 1200 hours of flight time in these model aircraft. AM1 Gibson returned to HC-4 in November of 2001 where he was the Leading Petty Officer for detachment "Team Bravo". He will be greatly missed by HC-4, friends in Sigonella and the United States Navy.

He is survived by his wife Daniela Gibson of Motta S. Anatasia in Sicily; his parents Clyde and Margaret (Peggy) Gibson of Greenwood, Va.; his brother, Mike and his wife Norman. Gibson and their son Joshua of Waynesboro, Va.; his sister, Michelle Moran and her children Ryan and Kayla of Greenwood, Va.; his sister-in-law Lora and her husband Larry Colquitt and their children Charmiela and Darien from Sicily; he is also survived by a number of Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.

Brian "Gibby" Gibson will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Funeral arrangement information will be available from Teague Funeral Home.

Monica J. Johnson

Monica Jackson Johnson of Palmyra, Virginia died on Friday, July 25, 2003. She was born January 31, 1955 in Fluvanna County the daughter of Leo and Nora Jackson Young, Jr.

Her Maternal Grandparents Robert Jackson and Emma Jackson Bradley preceded her in death.

She was employed with the U.S. Postal Service in Charlottesville, Virginia. She was an active member of Evergreen Baptist Church, Palmyra, Virginia where she served on the Usher Board and was a member of the Women's Ministry. She was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother and sister. Her caring nature was a quality she possessed that was admired by all.

Monica leaves to cherish her memory a devoted son, Orlando "Marty" Jackson and his wife Monica of Charlottesville, VA.; loving parents, Leo and Nora Jackson Young, Jr. of Keswick, Virginia; two grandchildren, C'Aira and Omar of Charlottesville; loving sister, Tanja Carter of Keswick, VA.; devoted Uncle, Nelson Jackson and his wife Thelma; devoted Aunt Margaret Brown and her husband, Roger; Uncle George Vest and his wife, Gloria; and Aunt Debra Payne all of Palmyra, VA.; Aunt Dorothy Crews of Richmond, VA.; a nephew, Jamie Carter of Columbus, Ohio; a devoted goddaughter, Nakisha Carter; and a host of devoted cousins and loyal friends.

Funeral services for Monica will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, July 31, 2003 at Evergreen Baptist Church, Palmyra, Va. with Rev. Brian Taylor officiating. Interment icon will follow in the church cemetery.

Her remains will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.

Nannie P. Jones

Nannie P. Jones, 87, of Charlottesville entered into eternal rest Thursday July 24, 2003 at UVA Medical Center.

She was the daughter of the late Joe and Hattie Jones. She was a faithful member of The Bible Way Community Church. She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, District Elder Frank Reeves of Goochland and Dallas Reeves of Lynchburg; three daughters Mary Johnson and Lilly Faggans both of Charlottesville and Pricilla Scott of Baltimore, Md.; 5 sisters Alease Johnson, Lou Jennie West and Arlene Jones all of Baltimore Md., Octavia Jackson of Richmond, and Julia Wells of Charlottesville; 20 grandchildren; 49 great grandchildren; 17 great great grandchildren and a host of other beloved relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday July 30, 2003 at 2 p.m. at The Charlottesville Church of Christ with the Bishop Rufus Hayes officiating. Interment icon will follow at Riverview cemetery.

Services of comfort are entrusted to the staff of McClenny Funeral Service Inc. RB and Doris A. McClenny Morticians.

Joyce M. Keasley

Joyce M. Keasley, 60, of Charlottesville, VA departed this life on Friday, July 25, 2003 at a local nursing facility.

She was born in Greene county, Va. June 3, 1943 the daughter of Hesterline Jackson of Alexandria, Va. and the late Thomas Jackson. She was the wife of Allen Burleigh Keasley.

She was a customer service representative at Centel/Sprint for twenty-five years. She was a 1963 graduate of George Washington Carver Regional High School and a member of Bethany Baptist Church, Ruckersville, VA.

In addition to her Husband and Mother she leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Angela M. Taliaferro and her husband Nelson; one brother, Thomas L. Jackson and his wife, Clara of Barboursville, VA.; Three Sisters, Shirley A. Jackson of Alexandria, VA., Othelia J. Brock and her husband, Fred P. of Barboursville, VA., and Laura J. Jackson of Alexandria, VA.; a brother-in-law, A. Shirley Keasley; three grandchildren, Anthony, Arian, and Keon; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. today, at Chestnut Grove Baptist Church, Eheart, VA. With Rev. Holmes officiating. Interment icon will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens.

Dorothy D. Mauser

Dorothy "Dot" Drumwright Mauser born September 22, 1919 in Fork Union. passed away September 15, 2002 in Lake Worth, Fla. Survivors include her devoted husband of 53 years, William C.; son, William R. and wife Jeannie; daughter, Barbara Townsend and friend, Jerry Catoe; son Robert K. and wife Rebecca; grandchildren, Doug, Joe, Amanda, Ginger, Erica, Holly, Stephen, Sabrina and Emily, all of Palm Beach County; niece, Bonnie Drumwright of Sacramento, Ca.; nephews, Don Drumwright or Sacramento and Den Drumwright of Albuquerque, Nm.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 1, 2003 at the Fork Union cemetery with Pastor Bill Bess officiating. A celebration of life luncheon will immediately follow the service at the Village Restaurant, SR 15, in Fork Union.

Irene Schneider

Irene Koch Schneider, 90 of Charlottesville formerly of Euclid, Ohio died Sunday, July 27, 2003 in a local hospital.

Born March 27, 1913 in Buchtel, Ohio she was the daughter of the late Karl Koch and Ampha Grinstead Koch.

She is survived by her three sons, William J. Schneider and his wife Marty of Willoughby, Ohio, Ronald L. Schneider and his wife Mary Lou of Earlysville and Larry Schneider and his wife Sherry of Newcastle, Maine; and by 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

A service to celebrate Irene’s life will be conducted at 11:00 am Wednesday, July 30, 2003 at the Fist Baptist Church, Park Street with the Rev. Joel Jenkins officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am Friday, August 1, 2003 in the chapel of the Brickman Funeral Home Euclid, Ohio with burial to follow in Knollwood cemetery, Mayfield Heights, Ohio. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brickman Funeral Home.

Owen Shirley Taylor

Owen Shirley "Frog" Taylor, 70, of Ruckersville passed away Monday July 28, 2003 at a Charlottesville hospital.

He was born Oct. 9, 1932 a son of the late Cencil Lloyd and Mary Early Taylor and wife Dawn all of Madison; a daughter, Brenda Sue Maupin and husband Charles of Charlottesville; a sister, Katherine T. Clore and husband Edward of Madison; two half sisters, Betty Lamb of Stanardsville and Mary Ann Mitchell & Gene of Falls Church; two half brothers, Lloyd Junior Taylor and Charles Taylor of Alexandria; and five grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Thursday at Ryan Funeral Chapel in Quinque with interment in the Breeden Family cemetery. Pastor Jeffrey Shifflett will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday at the Ryan Funeral Home in Quinque.

Jason W. Thurston

Jason William Thurston, 17, of Columbia died Wednesday, July 23, 2003 in an auto accident on Route 15 near Palmyra.

He was born January 17, 1986 in Charlottesville, son of Ernest William and Debra Sue Thurston. Jason was a student at Fluvanna County High School.

He is survived by his parents, Ernest W. and Debra Sue Wolfe Thurston of Columbia; one brother, Robert William Thurston, of Palmyra; and one sister, Kimberly T. Duncan of Palmyra.

Jason was preceded in death by a brother, Boyd Andrew Reidalbach.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday July 30, 2003 at the Sheridan Funeral Home Chapel, Kents Store, conducted by the Brother Kerry Rhoades. Interment icon will follow in Memorial Baptist cemetery in Columbia.

Family will receive friends at the Sheridan Funeral Home from 7-8 p.m. today.

Jane Wilson Tingley

Jane Wilson Tingley, 82, of Charlottesville died Saturday, July 26, 2003, at the University of Virginia Medical Center.

She was born in Lancaster, Ohio, to Richard Warren Wilson and Jeannette Elder Wilson. She left Lancaster to attend the University of Chicago where she met and married Loyal Hobart Tingley, Jr. She lived in Vermont, Illinois, for a number of years before moving to Urbana, Illinois. In Urbana, she was the Records Supervisor for the Alumni Association of the University of Illinois until 1986. She has lived in Charlottesville for the last ten years.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Tingley Schnatterly and her husband Stephen Schnatterly of Charlottesville; her son, Loyal Tingley III (Terry) and his wife Margie Moeller Tingley of Ft. Myers, FL; her sister, Sally Wilson Jenkins and her husband David Jenkins of Columbus, OH; her grandchildren, Karen Schnatterly and her husband Robert Doljanac of Minneapolis, John Schnatterly and his partner Pamela Rogers of New York City; Kimberly Tingley, Loyal Tingley IV (Derek), and Hilary Tingley of Ft. Myers; her nieces, Linda Bambach of Minneapolis, Jo Snedeker of Columbus and Shirley Lindamood of Vinton, VA, and her nephew, Douglas Jenkins of Columbus.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA, Woodburn Road, Charlottesville, VA 22901.

James A. Wannop

James A. Wannop passed away Saturday, July 26, 2003 at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Charlottesville, VA.

He was survived by one daughter, Carol Wannop Cassidy and one sister Mary Paul Dunning. He was much loved by all who became part of his life.

He was an auto mechanic for a majority of his life. He retired from American Service Center in Arlington, Va. after 30 years. He loved motorcycles and was a member of the BMW Bikers of Metropolitan Washington. He received many awards over the years including the American Service Center Award for Outstanding Professionalism and the Good Samaritan Award.

A remembrance service will be held at the Wannop residence on Saturday, August 9, 2003, at 1006 Morningside Lane, Charlottesville, VA 22903, between 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Charlottesville/Albemarle Rescue Squad, PO Box 160, Charlottesville, Va. 22907; for all the times they were there with a helping hand.

Douglas Ware Cash

Douglas Ware (Doug) Cash, 70, of Lake Nelson Lane died suddenly Friday July 25, 2003 at his home in Arrington. Born June 5, 1933 in Nelson County a son of the late Walker Hampton Cash and Eleanor Campbell Cash. In 1955 he founded the Alexandria Drywall Company Inc. where he served as owner/operator for 45 years. He was a Partner and Vice President of CC & H Associated Building and Construction Contractors. Along with his wife Emily; Doug was owner and operator of the Nelson Campground at Lake Nelson in Arrington. He was preceded in death by his first wife Mollie Lawhorne Cash (1989).

He is survived by his loving wife Emily Smith Cash; four daughters, Hazel C. Cobb of Fredericksburg, Patricia Martini of Spotsylvania, Faye Cash and Kaitlin Cash both of Arrington; a son Wayne Douglas Cash of Spotsylvania; two sisters, Audrey C. Gibbons and Dayton, Wa. And Violet C Noland of Spotsylvania; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home and all other times at the family residence. A graveside will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Mount Comfort cemetery in Alexandria with Rev. Greg Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the chapel of Mount Comfort.
