D.E. McGlothin Jr., 33, and infant son
Graveside funeral services for Daniel Eugene McGlothin Jr., 33, of Maysville, Okla., and formerly of Herndon, and his son, Daniel West-Cole McGlothin, 11 months, were held Oct. 28 at Dibble, Okla., cemetery, with the Rev. Joel Betow, pastor of Maysville Methodist Church, officiating. Mr. McGlothin and his son died Oct. 25 of injuries they received in an automobile accident near Pauls Valley, Okla. Born June 23, 1967, in Frederick, Md., Mr. McGlothin grew up in Herndon, where he attended public schools before serving in the U.S. Army in Korea and then moving to Oklahoma, where he met and married the former Rebecca Mayo of Maysville. Their son was born Nov. 12, 1999. In addition to his wife, Mr. McGlothin is survived by his parents, Daniel E. McGlothin Sr. of Jacksonville, Fla., and Marilyn McGlothin of Herndon; a brother, James McGlothin of Herndon; his grandmother, Christine Schoemaker of Boonsboro, Md.; numerous aunts, uncles and counsins in Maryland, Florida, Kentucky, Indiana and Missouri; and his father- and mother-in-law in Oklahoma. Nicholas Winslow, 58, auto-parts store owner
Nicholas Winslow, 58, of Lorton, a former U.S. Marine, died Nov. 7 at his residence of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Mr. Winslow graduated from George Washington University, in Washington, D.C., and lived for the last 25 years in the Northern Virginia area, where he owned several local auto parts stores. During his military service, Mr. Winslow was stationed in the Dominican Republic and Vietnam, and received two Purple Hearts. He also was awarded a Bronze Star for rescuing a civilian while serving in the Dominican Republic, and a Silver Star during his service in Vietnam for rescuing a fellow Marine from behind enemy lines. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Arlington National Cemetery's Columbarium. Mr. Winslow is survived by three brothers, New York Supreme Court Judge F. Dana Winslow of Glen Head, N.Y., Kenelm Winslow of Fairfax, and Peter Winslow of Ashville, N.C.; three stepsons, Richard C. Taylor of Herndon, Anthony M. Taylor of Iowa and Thomas Taylor of Clifton; two stepgrandchildren; five nieces and nephews; and five great-nieces and -nephews. Teresa Torres-Kelly, 38, N.Va. nanny
Teresa Torres-Kelly, 38, of Burke, a nanny who had worked in McLean and Oakton, died Thursday from injuries suffered in a car accident. Ms. Torres-Kelly had worked as a nanny since 1987. She was the parent, along with her husband, P.J., of a 4-year-old girl, Kaitlyn. In addition to her husband and daughter, Ms. Torres-Kelly is survived by her mother, Genara Laura, of Falls Church, and her father, Fernando Torres, of Peru; two sisters, Belinda, of Lima, Peru, and Giulliana Doll, of Chantilly; and three brothers, Martin, Alejandro and Raul, all of Falls Church. A viewing will be held at the Advent Funeral Home, 7211 Lee Highway, Falls Church, tomorrow between 3 and 5 p.m. and 7:30 and 9:30 p.m.. A funeral mass will be held at noon Wednesday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 5121 Woodland Way, Annandale. A burial service will follow at Fairfax Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family will establish a memorial fund at a later date.

W.A. Wright Jr., 60, lived in Falls Church
Former Falls Church resident William Alexander Wright Jr., 60, died of a heart ailment Feb. 13 at his home in Shelby, N.C., where he had lived for the last year. Born Oct. 11, 1940, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of William A. Wright and the late Parle Liptrap. Mr. Wright grew up in Arlington and graduated from Wakefield High School. He suffered from diabetes, and when his condition allowed him to work, he was employed at the Cameron Station Commissary stand in Alexandria and the Navy Annex concession stand in Arlington. He was a member of the Glen Carlyn Road Baptist Church in Arlington. In 1953, Mr. Wright and his parents were among the first members of the congregation to be baptized there. Mr. Wright's survivors include his father and a sister, Teresa W. Round, both of Shelby. Services were held for Mr. Wright on Friday at Glen Carlyn Road Baptist Church. Burial followed at National Memorial Park in Falls Church. Remembrances may be sent to his father in Shelby.

Kevin P. Foley, 52, veteran journalist
Kevin P. Foley of Herndon, a veteran journalist and assignment editor in the Washington, D.C., news bureau of Radio Free Europe and Radio Liberty, died of a heart attack Tuesday at George Washington University Hospital in Washington. He was 52. A native of Michigan, Mr. Foley began his journalism career in the Indianapolis bureau of The Associated Press before taking a reporting assignment with RFE/RL in its Munich, Germany, headquarters, where he worked for five years. He was promoted to RFE/RL's Washington bureau as deputy news director in 1986 and later became the bureau's assignment editor. During his career, Mr. Foley reported on a wide variety of news topics, specializing in recent years on health issues. He received a master's degree in health promotion management from Marymount University. Earlier, he received a master's degree in European history from Butler University. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Brock, and their daughter, Emma, both of the home; and three sisters, Frances Muck of Sun City Center, Fla., and Ann Wierchioch and Veronica Foley, both of Plymouth, Mich. Friends may call at 10 a.m. Saturday at Money & King Vienna Funeral Home, 171 W. Maple Ave., Vienna. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be private. Dolores E. Gaarder, 76 Retired World Bank employee
Dolores ``Loli" Escudero Gaarder, of Arlington, a retired employee of the World Bank in Washington, D.C., died of heart failure Oct. 8 at Virginia Hospital Center-Arlington. She was 76. Gaarder grew up in Mexico City, the daughter of Eduardo and Carmen Suarez Escudero, and graduated from Helen Herlihy Hall, a business school for young women. She also studied piano. She married Bruce Gaarder in 1946 and lived in Sioux City, Iowa, and Baton Rouge, La., before the family moved to Falls Church in 1959 and to Arlington in 1962. Mrs. Gaarder worked at the World Bank, principally in the External Debt Division, from 1965 until she retired in 1986. Since then, she had made trips to Mexico, France and Italy. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Gaarder is survived by a daughter, Ingrid Kauffman of Arlington; three sons, Craig Gaarder of Ellicott City, Md., Eduardo Gaarder of Falls Church and Conrad Gaarder of Oakton; a brother, Rafael Escudero of Mexico City; and six grandchildren. A service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at the Unitarian Church of Arlington, 4444 Arlington Blvd., followed by a reception.

Marjorie Thresher, 70, Northern Virginia resident
Marjorie Joyce Thresher, of Alexandria, a resident of Northern Virginia since 1957, died of pneumonia Thursday at Alexandria Hospital. She was 70. She is survived by her husband, Wesson L. Thresher; two sons, Michael D. Thresher of Alexandria and Richard B. Thresher of Dale City; two sisters, Becky Murray of Clayton, N.C., and Dorothy Preston of Fayetteville, N.C.; a brother, Bruce Parker of Benson, N.C.; and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mountcastle Funeral Home, 4143 Dale Blvd., Dale City. Interment will be private.

Martha U. Seeley, 83,
real estate developer
A memorial service for Martha Ulfelder Seeley, founding partner of West Group, a leading Tysons Corner commercial real estate development firm, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Emerson Gallery of the McLean Project for the Arts in McLean Community Center, 1234 Ingleside Ave., McLean. Mrs. Seeley, who with her late husband, Col. Rudolph G. Seeley, was a prominent supporter of the performing arts in Fairfax County, died of emphysema Feb. 20 in her home in McLean. She was 82. Interment will be private. A longtime resident of McLean, Mrs. Seeley was born in 1918 in Mexico City, the youngest of four children of Dr. Sidney and Ethel H. Ulfelder. Her father, a prominent surgeon, was a founder of the American-British Coudrey Hospital in Mexico City. In 1925, the family purchased Maplewood Farm, a 512-acre dairy farm in McLean, in order to have a home in the United States so that the children could attend school here. Mrs. Seeley's first husband, John N. Poto, died in Portugal in 1942 while serving there in the U.S. Army. She married Col. Seeley in 1949 and together they took over operation of Maplewood Farm. Maplewood later was developed as West Gate and West Park office parks. After her husband's death in 1988, Mrs. Seeley served as a general partner, secretary and member of the board of directors of West Gate, and as a general partner of West Park. Mrs. Seeley participated in local theatrical programs as well as the McLean Arts Club; she was particularly interested in pottery. Col. and Mrs. Seeley supported the Fairfax and McLean Symphony orchestras and Wolf Trap Farm Park. They also supported the Virginia 4H Center in Hume, the Hospice of Northern Virginia, and numerous animal welfare organizations. Mrs. Seeley was a major contributor to the McLean Project for the Arts and co-chaired its first capital fund drive. MPA's Rudolph G. Seeley Learning Center is named in honor of her late husband. Surviving are two daughters, Julie of Falls Church, and Maggie of San Diego; a son, Jack of Great Falls; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The family will provide flowers for the memorial service. Donations in Mrs. Seeley's memory may be made to a charity of choice.

Bertha B. Bowman, 79,
died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002 at her home in Woodbridge. Survivors are three sons, Laymond Thomas of Dale City, Raymond Thomas of Big Bear, Calif., and Rasul Salim of Silver Spring, Md.; one daughter, Shirley O. Robinson-Cruz; three sisters, Clarabell Baker of Triangle, Thelma Bates of Fredericksburg and Virginia Tisdale of Woodbridge; two brothers, Christopher Bates of Quantico, and Robert Bates of Dumfries; 14 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at 8 a.m. Friday at Star of Bethlehem Missonary Church, 19068 Bethlehem Church Road, Triangle, where services will be held at 9 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Frederick S. Charles Combs Jr. 55,
of Woodbridge died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002, at his home. He was born March 29, 1946, in White Post. He worked at AT&T as a technician. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Dale City. He was preceded in death by one brother, Keister Combs; one sister, Patricia Combs; his father, Charles W. Combs Sr. and his mother, Edna Combs Jackson. Survivors include one daughter, Kathy Marshall of White Post; three sisters, Sylvia C. Griffin of Pittsburgh, Sharlene C. Harris of Winchester and Sallie J. Beasley of Richmond; two brothers, Gary B. Jackson and Lionel M. Combs, both of Winchester; one grandchild and several nephews and nieces. Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. today at Cartwright Funeral Home, 232 East Fairfax Lane, Winchester. Louis O. Walz Jr., 83,
of Manassas, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, at Annaburg Manor in Manassas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rita Viola Walz. He is survived by his daughter, Beverly A. Schutte of Manassas; his sister, Milda Biardi of Connecticut; and three brothers, Edward and Frank Walz, both of Massachusetts, and Henry Walz of New York. Stella Cook Harold, 73,
died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, in Woodbridge, at her residence. She worked for Electrolux for 10 years as a sales representative, earning several awards. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking and sewing. She was active in the Baptist church. She was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Harold. She is survived by her son, David Harold of Dale City; two daughters, Betty Wells of Lake Ridge and Mary Ann Harold of Woodbridge; two brothers, Houston Cook and Wayne Cook, both of Pelham, N.C.; one sister, Hazel Pruitt of Pelham; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Selba M. Kintz 66
formerly of Lovettsville, died Saturday, Feb. 23, at her home in Martinsburg, W.Va. Mrs. Kintz was born in 1935 in Lovettsville, where she was raised and attended the former Lovettsville High School. Funeral services were set for 11 a.m. today at Stauffer Funeral Home in Frederick, Md. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery, Lovettsville. Robert E. Tatum Jr., 40,
formerly of Leesburg, died Sunday, Feb. 24, of undetermined causes at his home in Winchester. Mr. Tatum was born in 1961 in Huntington, W.Va., and grew up in Leesburg, where he attended Loudoun County schools and participated in sports. He was an electrician and was formerly employed by Southern Electric, Brown & Roudt, and Residential Applications, Inc. At the time of his death, he was employed at Glaize, Inc. He attended the First Baptist Church in Winchester. Survivors include his parents, Robert E. and Nancy W. Tatum of Leesburg; three sisters, Rhonda Harrell of Berryville, Jaymie Crider of Warrenton, Julie Tatum-Athey of Sterling; his fiancee, Tina Jones of Winchester; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins Viewing is tomorrow at Loudoun Funeral Chapels, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Services and interment will be private. Barbara Burgbacher Surkamp, 76,
of Middleburg, died Sunday, Feb. 24, at Warrenton Overlook Nursing Center in Warrenton. Mrs. Burgbacher was born in 1925 in New Jersey. Survivors include three daughters, Lynda McCann of Grey, Maine, Robin Rowe of Middletown, Conn., and Elizabeth Hume of Sinking Springs, Pa.; one stepdaughter, Susan Anderson of Boston, Mass.; two stepsons, James T. Mary Loy Smith, 77,
a former school bus driver for Loudoun County Public Schools, died Feb. 17, at Prince William Hospital in Manassas. Mrs. Smith was born in 1924 in Shelby, N.C., and was a longtime resident of Arcola. She drove a school bus to Broad Run High School and Arcola Elementary for 26 years. Survivors include her husband, Bernard Smith of Arcola; two daughters, Dianne M. Nicely of Manassas and Teresa N. Yoakum of Manassas; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Services were Friday at Lee Funeral Home in Manassas. Interment was at Quantico National Cemetery.

Lena Foster Allison Dutton, 83,
formerly a department head for First American Bank in Tysons Corner, died Thursday, Feb. 21, at The Godfrey House in Berryville. Mrs. Dutton was born in 1918 in Middleburg, and was formerly a resident of Sterling. She graduated from Aldie High School in 1933. Survivors include her son, Alan W. Dutton of Sterling; one sister, Louise Daniels of Nebraska; and six grandchildren. Services were Monday at the Adams-Green Funeral Home in Herndon. Interment was at Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Herndon.

Georgia Helen Ball, 82,
of Potomac Falls, died Feb. 15 at Falcons Landing. Mrs. Ball was born in 1920 in Minter, Texas, and was formerly a branch manager for Bank of America. Survivors include one daughter, Ann Kepner of Gainesville; two sons, Frank E. Ball Jr. of New York, N.Y.., and David W. Ball of Charlottesville; five siblings; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Graveside services were today at Arlington National Cemetery. Margaret Phillips Shelton, 80,
of Manassas, died Feb. 19, at Loudoun Hospital Center in Lansdowne. Mrs. Shelton was born in 1921 in Florida, and was a vice president of Dominion National Bank. Survivors include one son, Michael P. Kelly of Manassas; two sisters, Jean Curtis and Mary E. VanHorne, both of Flomaton, Ala.; one brother, Fletcher C. Phillips Jr., of Alamagordo, N.M.; one granddaughter, and one grandson. James Franklin Addison, 62,
a communications specialist with AT&T for 33 years, died of cancer Feb. 14 at Reston Hospital Center. Mr. Addison was born in Leesburg in 1939, and was a life long resident of Arcola. He attended Loudoun County High School, later served in the National Guard and was one of the first members of the Arcola/Pleasant Valley Volunteer Fire & Rescue Co. 9. He was also a member of the Kaiser-Frazer Owners Club International, and collected and built Henry J cars. Survivors include one daughter, Lisa A. Fox of Bealeton; three daughters, Gertha L. Hancock of Burr Hill, Sheila Grimes of Lorton, and Sharon Bowen of Purcellville; and one grandson. Services were Feb. 18 at the National Funeral Home in Falls Church. Interment was at National Memorial Park.

Emory Lee Jenkins, 70,
of Harpers Ferry, died Saturday, Feb. 23, at the Loudoun Long-Term Care facility in Leesburg. Mr. Addison was born in 1931 in Jefferson County, W.Va., and worked for 15 years with the Aramark Corporation in Leesburg. He was a member of the Methodist faith. Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Susan D. Jenkins, of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; four daughters, Patricia A. Boyce of Ranson, W.Va., and Pamela S. Cline, Beverly L. Harder and Melisa B. Long, all of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; three sons, Michael L. Jenkins of Loretta, Pa., Richard W. Jenkins of Charles Town, W.Va., and Terry L. Jenkins of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; one stepdaughter, Patricia A. Shears of Ranson, W.Va.; one stepson, Thomas L. Kermit Vernon George, 82,
a retired heavy equipment operator, died Thursday, Feb. 21, at Warren Memorial Hospital in Front Royal. Mr. George was born in 1919 in Auburn, Ind., and was a resident of Front Royal. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II in Hawaii and was a Mason. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn George, of Front Royal; three sons, Keith A. George of New Hampshire, and Dwight H. George and Rick L. George, both of Front Royal; one daughter, Judy A. George of Front Royal; three sisters, Marjorie Baatz and Bonnie Hollman, both of Orland, Ind., and Mary E. Lichstinn of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Services were yesterday at 2 p.m., at Turner-Robertshaw Funeral Home, Front Royal, with Rev. William E. Hamilton, 74,
a police officer in Leesburg during the 1940s and 1950s, died Thursday, Feb. 21, at his residence in Manassas Park. Mr. Hamilton was born in 1927 in Virginia and was a member of the Moose Lodge No. 1041 in Leesburg for many years. He worked in the construction industry and was a fan of the Redskins football team. He also enjoyed gardening, hunting, and fishing. Survivors include his wife, Helen Hamilton of Manassas Park; two sons, Steve Hamilton of California, and Thomas L. Hamilton of Brunswick, Md.; and one granddaughter. Services were Monday at Colonial Funeral Home in Leesburg, with the Rev. Elijah B. White III officiating. Claudine Ellison Hutchison Gasch, 73,
formerly a legal secretary for the late Wilbur Hall in Leesburg, died Feb. 21 at Warrenton Overlook Nursing Center in Warrenton. Mrs. Hutchison was born in 1928 in Catharpin, graduated from Osborn High School in Manassas, and from Madison College in Harrisonburg in 1947. She worked at Fort Myer in Arlington and lived in Fairfax for many years before moving to Delaplane after retirement. She became a bluebird enthusiast on her farm in Delaplane, and had a nature trail with over 30 birdhouses. In later years she was active in the Rectortown Methodist Church, and other community events such as the Strawberry Festival. Survivors include her son, Lester D. Hutchison of Marshall; her late husband's son, Arthur E. "Skip" Gasch of Lincroft, N.J.; two sisters, Belva Light of Aldie, and Muriel E. Webb of Cabin John; one brother, Galen R. Ellison of Marshall; and two step-grandchildren. Services were Monday at Rectortown United Methodist Church. Interment was at Stonewall Memory Garden, Manassas. Alvin L. Ford Jr., 57,
of Oak Hill, died Feb. 21 at Reston Hospital Center. Mr. Ford was born in 1944 in Washington, D.C., and was a senior design engineer at Swales Aerospace in Beltsville, Md. Survivors include his wife Julie M. Turner Ford of Oak Hill; three daughters, Katrina Richardson, of Oxon Hill, Sharlita Ford of Riverdale, Md., and Rachelle Ford of Oak Hill; three sons, David Ford and Damon Ford, both of Gaithersburg, Md., and Anthony Ford, both of Oak Hill; his mother, Jeanette P. Mary E. Bowers, 86,
of Sterling, died Feb. 7, at Eastern Hospital Center in Williamsburg. Mrs. Bowers was born in 1915 in Martinsburg, W.Va. Survivors include one son, Bernard "Bud" Bowers of Sterling; three brothers, Harry Thorpe of California, B.C. Thorpe of Florida, and David Thorpe of Falls Church; 2 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. Services were Feb. 12 at Sterling United Methodist Church. Beulah McLaughlin, 81,
ex-Arlington County librarian
Beulah McLaughlin died July 21 at her home in Seminole, Fla., of myasthenia gravis complicated by diabetes. She was 81. She was an Arlington County resident for 40 years and worked for 25 years as a librarian for different county schools. She was a member of Mount Olivet Methodist Church, Mac's Class, the American Association of University Women, the Arlington County Teachers Union and past Bethel Guardian of Bethel 1 of Job's Daughters. Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Kenneth; two daughters: Karen Metzger of New Philadelphia, Ohio, and Linda Tyler of Treasure Island, Fla.; a granddaughter; and three grandsons. The memorial service was held July 25 at Freedom Square Town Hall in Seminole, with the Rev. Cliff Melvin officiating.

Lettie ``Mickey'' Roberts, 89, retired Safeway employee
Lettie ``Mickey'' Roberts, of Dale City, a longtime resident of Washingtonand Alexandria, died Sunday at her home. She was 89. Mrs. Roberts retired from Safeway in 1978 after 28 years of service. She worked at the Wisconsin Avenue store in the District. She and her husband were avid square dancers during their retirement. They danced with the B's and B's. As a member of Western Presbyterian Church in Washington, she taught Sunday school for 25 years. She is survived by three daughters, Henrietta Lindsay, of Warrenton, Natalie Carlson, of Dale City, and Bonnie Smith, of Lake Gaston, N.C.; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, John ``Johnny'' Roberts, and her son, William ``Bill'' Roberts. Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. at Mountcastle Funeral Home, 4143 Dale Blvd., Dale City, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday. Interment will be at Ft. Lincoln Cemetery, Brentwood. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Northern Virginia, Attn: Donation Processing, 9300 Lee Highway, 5th floor, Fairfax, VA 22031-1207.

Clement E. Conger, 91 White House curator
Clement E. Conger of Delray Beach, Fla., formerly a longtime resident of Alexandria, died Sunday at a Delray Beach hospital. He was 91. Mr. Conger was born in Rockingham County in 1912. He graduated from Strayer College in 1932, George Washington University in 1934 and Adjutant General Officers Candidate School, in Fort Washington in 1943. He was curator of the diplomatic reception rooms, Department of State, from 1961 to 1992. In addition, he was curator of the White House from 1970 to 1986 and curator of Blair House from 1976 to 1992. He joined the State Department in 1947 and served in many capacities, including two tours of duty as assistant chief and deputy chief of protocol from 1955 to 1961 and from 1969 to 1970. When he was assistant chief of protocol, he recommended the inclusion of official reception rooms in the new State Department building. After 30 years (having directed this program in his spare time in addition to his official State Department duties from 1961-1970) the collection of fine period American furniture, historic American paintings and decorative arts in the diplomatic reception rooms are now valued at $100,000,000. The collection of American period furniture of the 18th and early 19th centuries is acknowledged to be the most important in the Washington area, and third greatest in the nation. From 1970 to 1986 Mr. Conger raised the White House collection from a medium level of quality to the pre-eminent collection of Americana of the 19th century. With the help and direction of Mrs. Nixon, Mrs. Ford, Mrs. Carter and Mrs. Reagan he refurbished 27 rooms. These rooms were furnished with the finest examples available of late 18th and early 19th century American art and antique furniture. Mr. Conger's maternal ancestor was William Ramsay, the founder of Alexandria in 1724 and its first and only lord mayor in colonial days. His son, Col. Dennis Ramsay, was one of Washington's principal officers at the surrender of Yorktown. He also was mayor of Alexandria after the Revolution. Mrs. William Ramsey was a second cousin of George Washington. Mr. Conger is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lianne Hopkins Conger of Delray Beach; three children, William Conger of Mauretown, Jay Conger of Manhatten Beach, Calif., and Shelly Conger of Sherman Oaks, Calif. Also surviving are two grandchildren.

Sue S. Sperry, 66,
real estate agent
Sue Sanderson Sperry of Port Charlotte, Fla., died on Feb 10, at Bon Secours-St Joseph's Hospital, Port Charlotte. She was 66. Mrs. Sperry was born in Saxton, Pa., in 1937 to Edward E. and Mary Belle Mears Sanderson. She was a 1955 graduate from Holland Patent Central High School in New York, then attended Endicott College in Beverly Farms, Mass. A mother of five, she was an avid equestrian, painter and successful real estate agent. Following her husband, Frank T. Sperry's career of more than 35 years with the Federal Government, they retired from their home in Lorton and moved to Port Charlotte 10 years ago. Besides her husband of 46 years she is survived by five children: Frank T. Sperry, Jr., of Pattersonville, N.Y., Karin Mulligan of Jefferson Md, Laurel Pearson, of Saco, Maine, Elizabeth Sperry, of Chantilly, and Edward Sperry of Woodbridge; eleven grandchildren; her mother, Belle Sanderson; brother, Dick Sanderson of Falls Church; two sisters, Sally Thomson of Paupack, Pa., and Linda Bell of Concord, N.H. A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Sperry's residence in Port Charlotte. Interment will be at Townsend Cemetery, Stittville, N.Y. Mrs. Sperry participated in the cornea organ donor/research program. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the National Diabetes Society. Arrangements are by Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, Punta Gorda, Fla.
