Orlando Smith, Jr.
Orlando Flye Smith Jr. of Charleston, S.C., died Monday, July 15, 2002. He was born in Spokane, Wash., the son of Orlando F. Smith Jr. and Mary Ann Sams Smith. He was a graduate of Woodbridge High School, where he was a High School All American and he played football for Clemson University. He was employed with Berkeley County Schools and he formerly owned and operated Charleston Fitness Attitude Training Facility for twelve years. Survivors include his wife, Donna Brown Smith of Charleston, S.C.; a daughter, Amy Diane Smith of Charleston, S. C.; a son, Orlando Flye Smith III of Charleston; his parents Lt. Col. and Mrs. Orlando F. Smith, of Johns Island, S.C.; a sister, Evita V. Smith of Atlanta, Ga. and his mother and father-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Steve E. Brown of Charleston. The family will receive friends at the J. Henry Stuhr's West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway, Charleston. Funeral services will be on Friday morning, July 19, 2002, at 11 a.m. at the Ashley River Baptist Church. Interment will be at St. Johns Episcopal Churchyard. Diane Hash
Diane Marie Hash, 57, of Woodbridge, died Sunday, July 14, 2002, at the Potomac Hospital. She worked for Atlantic Research Center as a cleaner. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend. She enjoyed operas, the beach, dancing and music. Survivors include her children, Melissa Hash of Dumfries, Melvina Ward of Woodford, Donna Ward of Washington, Richard Allan Ward Jr. of Washington, Norma Flippo, Amanda Hash, Darian Ward, Justin Hash and Dylan Flippo, all of the home; and four grandchildren. Friends may call from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday at Mountcastle Funeral Home, 13318 Occoquan Road, Woodbridge, where services will begin at 11:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Mount Comfort Cemetery.

Judith Casteel
Judith E. Casteel, 59, of Manassas Park, died Monday, July 15, 2002, at her home. She received her BS degree in Social Science from the University of Northern Colorado and her master',s degree in public administration from Troy State University, Ala. She was a contracting officer of the Defense Intelligence Agency with 30 years Air Force military and DOD civilian service. Survivors include her husband, Aubrey Gene Casteel of ManassasPark; her daughter, Susan E. (and Bart) Howell of Loudon, Tenn.; her granddaughter, Madison Dupree Howell of Loudon; her sister, Kristine Jennings of Sun City, Calif.; her brothers, Dennis Jacobsen of Los Angeles, and Christopher Jacobsen of Hemet, Calif. Services will be held Monday, Aug. 5 at 2:45 p.m. at Fort Myer Chapel in Arlington. Interment will follow at Arlington National Cemetery with Air Force honors. Dawn Rhodes
Dawn Woods Rhodes, of Rockwall, Texas, born Dec. 12, 1958, died Friday June 14, 2002, after a three-year battle with cancer. She was a graduate of Woodbridge High School class of 1977. She is survived by her husband of 24 years Rick Rhodes; daughters, Dana and Mykla; sons, Gabe and Cain; parents, Bartie Thomas Jr. and Dolores Woods; brothers, Dane and Bartie Woods; sisters, Stacy Danko, Mykla Gonzales and Ashley Burke. Services were held June 20 at The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 423 S. Broadway, Tyler, Texas. Interment was at Cathedral in the Pines, Tyler. Delphia McNeil
Delphia Lee McNeil, 83, of Woodbridge died Thursday, July 18, 2002, at her home. She moved to Woodbridge in 1968 and was a member of Our Lady of Angel's Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sherman W. McNeil; and her son James Davies. She is survived by her one daughter, Angela McNeil-Lambert of Montclair; two sons, Wyatt Wood and James Raymer both of Woodbridge; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Viewing is Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Mountcastle Funeral Home, 13318 Occoquan Road in Woodbridge. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Mountcastle Funeral Home. The Rev. Carr will officiate. Interment will follow at Mount Comfort Cemetery. Arrangements are by Mountcastle Funeral Home.

Samuel Thomas
Samuel Thomas, Sr., 87, of Haymarket died July 18, 2002, at Prince William Hospital, Manassas. He was a trustee of Olive Branch Baptist Church where he served as an usher. He also was on the Cemetery and Church Grounds Committee for many years. He is survived by five sons, Samuel R. L., Charles Haywood, Larry W. all of Haymarket, Greylin L. of Manassas and James of Centreville; one daughter, Delores T. Duffin of Centreville; four sisters, Mable Coleman, Margaret Dorsey, Christine Webb, all of Washington, D.C. and Hydine Terrell of Philadelphia; two brothers, Charles of Rector Town and Arthur of Falls Church; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Olive Baptist Church, 4203 Mountain Road, Haymarket. Friends will be received at 10 a.m. Dr. George W. Farmer, Jr. will preside. Interment will follow at the Olive Branch Cemetery. Arrangements are by AMES of Manassas.

Marjorie Partlow
Marjorie Smith Partlow, 91, of Gainesville died Friday, July 19, 2002, at Fauquier Hospital, Warrenton. She was born May 22, 1911, in Gainesville. She is the daughter of the late Robert Ashton and Ida Pearson. She was a retired postmaster with the Gainesville Post Office. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Charles B. Smith and William C. Partlow; one daughter, Linda S. Ait; two sisters, Myrtle Griffith and Louise Davis; and three brothers, Willard Pearson, Raymond Pearson and Jack Pearson. Survivors include one daughter, Anne S. (Denis) Ayres of Gainesville; seven grandchildren, Chuck Ayres, Scott Ayres, Sheila A. Rollins, Rodney Ayres, Lisa A. Larson, Michele A. Anderson and John Ait; and 14 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at Price Funeral Home, 9609 Center St., Manassas. Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday. Interment will follow at Gainesville United Methodist Church Cemetery, Gainesville. Contributions may be made to The American Heart Association, P.O. Sakina B. Mitchell, 53, of Centreville, died Tuesday, July 23, 2002, at her residence. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Mitchell. Survivors include one daughter, Leslie Mitchell of Centreville. All services will be private. Arrangements are by Lee Funeral Home.

Harold Wright
Harold (Butch) Lorenz Wright, 41 of Gainesville, Fla., died July 20, 2002 at his residence. Survivors include his grandfather, Butch Wright of Post Lake, Wis.; his parents, Max and Janis Wright of Dumfries; brothers, John Wright of Riva, Md., Dwight Wright of Stafford and Chris Wright of Severn, Md. Services will be held at 2 p.m. July 27, at Forest Meadows Funeral Home, 725 N.W. 23rd Street, Gainesville, Fla.

Mary Edwards
Mary L. Edwards, 64, of Woodbridge, died Saturday, July 20, 2002, at Potomac Hospital. She was born in Petersburg and spent most of her life in Bronx, N.Y. She recently moved backto Northern Virginia and has spent the last two years in Prince William County. She was a devoted member of the Cornerstone Christian Center in Woodbridge. While in Bronx, she contributed much of her time donating clothing and food to the needy at the New Tabernacle Baptist Church. She retired from the New York City Department of Social Services as a social worker. She loved cooking, sewing and reading. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Lillian Higgs, Maud Higgs and Olivia Dickens; and five brothers, Edward Wilson, and Jack, Joe, Edward and James Higgs. She is survived by three daughters, Lisa R. Boathwright of Gaithersburg, Md., Regina Edwards of Bronx, and Monique Muldrow of Woodbridge; two sons, Neal J. Higgs of Bronx and Craig S. Higgs of Columbia, Md.; two brothers, Frank Batts of Brooklyn, N.Y., and William Higgs of Kissimmee, Fla.; 11 grandchildren, Nequiree Weathers, Quiana White, Lashana Weathers, India Weathers, Kia Higgs, Michael Saunders, Keyaira Saunders, Stevon Higgs, Darius Higgs, Sha-Niya Bailey, and Ka-Deva Higgs; and four great-grandchildren, Dejeanea, Destiny, Malicia and Aalya Weathers. The family will receive friends on Friday from noon until 2 p.m., with funeral services at 2 p.m., at Mountcastle Funeral Home, 4143 Dale Blvd., Dale City, with the Rev. Richard Pennington officiating. Interment will be private.

Robert Boxley
Robert Sylvester Boxley, 66, of Woodbridge died Monday, July 22, 2002, at Mary Washington Hospital, Fredericksburg. He is survived by his wife, Pearlene Boxley of Woodbridge; one daughter, Monique Edwards of Fredericksburg; one stepdaughter, Lucrecia Graham of Dale City; one stepson-in-law, Bob Graham of Dale City; four stepsons, Kelvin Craft, Ronnie Talley, Leander Talley and Phillip Talley, all of Dale City; two brothers, R. Lloyd Boxley and George W. Boxley, both of Fredericksburg; two sisters, Winnie B. Johnson of Silver Spring, Md., and Virginia B. Boxley of Greenbelt, Md.; one grandchild; and many other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Dale City Christian Church, 14022 Lindendale Road, Dale City, where services will be held at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Patrick Thomas officiating. Eulogy will be led by the Rev. Roland Harris. Interment will be held at Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle. Arrangements are by Ames Funeral Home Inc., Manassas.

Ronald Collins
Ronald "Butch" Collins, 61, died Thursday, July 25, 2002, at his home in Manassas. The son of the late Oscar F. and Audrey Muddiman Collins, he was born and raised in Manassas and attended Osbourn High School. He was a member of International Ironworkers Local 5, Washington D.C. and had received his 35-year pin. He also was a member of the Manassas Church of Christ and was later a member of the Warrenton Church of Christ. He was treated for lung cancer at Fauquier Hospital, the Cancer center of Virginia and Mary Washington Hospital. He was one of the first patients to undergo a Pericandiocentesis at Fauquier Hospital. He was under the care of Dr. Eric Maybach. He was preceded in death by his sister Janice Prudhomme. A list of survivors is forthcoming. The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Moser Funeral Home, Warrenton. Services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. by Tom Workman and Larty Houff. Internment will be held at Stonewall Memory Gardens, Manassas. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1749, Vienna, VA 22183.

Joann Olayinka
Joann Marie Phillips Olayinka, 43, of Manassas died Monday, July 22, 2002, at Georgetown University Hospital. She is survived by her husband, Festus Tunde Olayinka of Manassas; one daughter, Tasha Phillips of Manassas; two sons, Kelvin Tayo and Rodney O. Olayinka, both of Manassas; three brothers, Louis "Bud" Phillips and Kenneth "Mo" Phillips, both of Kansas, and James "Bucky" Phillips of Golden, Colo.; and many other friends. The family will receive friends noon Monday at Ames Funeral Home, 8914 Quarry Road, Manassas, where services will follow at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Lawrence Newman officiating. Interment will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery, Manassas.
