Troy H. Pounders, Sr.
Mr. Troy Hester Pounders, Sr., age 77, died Monday April 5, 2004 in Grace Healthcare of Abingdon. Troy attended High Point Baptist Church, Meadowview, VA and was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He is survived by a son, Troy Pounders, Jr., Warren, Michigan, a grandson, Chad Pounders, two brothers, Major Pounders, Abingdon, VA and Paul Pounders, Troy, Michigan. A funeral service was conducted Tuesday April 6, 2004 at 8:00 p.m. in the Farris Funeral Chapel with Rev. David Critcher and Rev. Mahlon Wyatt officiating. A service will be Friday April 9, 2004 at 9:00 a.m. in Troy, Michigan. Interment will follow in White Chapel Cemetery in Troy, Michigan In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to High Point Baptist Church 18255 Limestone Dr. Meadowview, VA 24361. Aaron Nelson Griffith
Daniel James ' D.J.' Griffith, age 12 and Aaron Nelson ' Peanut' Griffith, age 5, and their dog Lucky, joined their grandparents in heaven Saturday, April 3, 2004 from injuries sustained in a house fire. D. J. was a fifth grade student at Saltville Elementary School. He bravely fought the fire to rescue his brother Raven and went back to save his brother Aaron before the smoke overtook them. They are survived by their mother Minnie Griffith and a brother Raven Griffith both of Glade Spring; their father, Daniel Griffith of Bristol, TN; their friend Scott Keller of Glade Spring and several Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. A memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 P.M., Friday in the Farris Funeral Chapel with Rev. Johnny Dillard and Rev. Louis Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service on Friday.

Earnest R. Thompson
Mr. Earnest Ray Thompson, 78, of Abingdon died Wednesday April 7, 2004 at his home. Mr. Thompson was born March 17, 1925 in Smyth County to the late Staley Dayton and Viola Hutton Thompson. He was attended First Church of God in Abingdon and was retired from the Virginia State Police after 39 years. He was a U. S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II where he was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal. He was preceded in death by a son: Jeffrey Lee Thompson. Survivors include his wife: Hope Rotenberry Thompson; three sons: Gerald Ray Thompson of Abingdon; Michael Wayne Thompson of Damascus; David Allen Thompson of Abingdon; two daughters: Pamela Kay Thompson and Karen Sue Thompson both of Abingdon; one sister: Viola Maxine McKinney of Marion; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Thursday April 8, 2004 from 6-8 P. M. followed by a service at 8:00 P. M. at Farris Funeral Chapel. Reverend Bob Neace will officiate. An 11:00 A. M. committal service will be held on Friday April 9, 2004 at West Cemetery in Marion, Virginia. Military rites will be given by the Highlands Honor Color Guard. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home at 9:30 A. M. Friday for the procession to the cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Jamie Thompson, Chad Thompson, Chris Manuel, Kyle Easterling, Jimmy Clark and R. L. Young.

Ernest W. Arnold, Jr.
Mr. Ernest William (Ernie) Arnold, Jr., 46, of Bristol, VA died Thursday April 8, 2004 in Mechanicsville, VA. A native of Saltville, Virginia, Mr. Arnold was a sales representative with All Midwest Sales. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He also enjoyed drag racing very much. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Katherine and Albert Cahill; James and Alice Arnold; father-in-law: Everett Neese, Sr.; brother-in-law: Kim Cannon and his infant brother: Stanley Arnold. Survivors include his wife: Jean Arnold; one daughter: Amy and husband Aaron Tobey of Bristol, VA; his parents: Ernest Sr. (Lefty) and Mary Arnold of Bristol; mother-in-law: Doris Neese of Bristol; brothers: Richie and wife Kim Arnold; Kenny and wife Misty Arnold all of Bristol; brother-in-law: Everett and wife Nan Neese of Marion; sister-in-law: Becky Cannon of Bristol; sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Frances and Jeff Linnen of Bluff City; nieces and nephews: Morgan Neese, Matthew Neese, Ashley Cannon, Cory Arnold, Tyler and Kaitie Arnold; many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. Henry L. McKemy, Jr.
Mr. Henry Lewis (H.L.) McKemy Jr., 61, died Friday, April 9, 2004, at UVa Hospital in Charlottesville. Mr. McKemy was a native of Roanoke and had lived in Abingdon for the past 30 years. He was the son of the late Henry Lewis McKemy Sr. and Frances Vickers McKemy. He was of the Presbyterian faith, but attended Greendale United Methodist Church. He was retired from Jewel Coal and Coke. He enjoyed fishing. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and neighbor. Survivors include his wife, Beulah McKemy; two sons, Henry Lewis (Hank) McKemy III and wife Debbie of Abingdon and James William (Willie) McKemy and wife Shannon of Bristol Tennessee; three granddaughters that were special to him, Christiane McKemy, Samantha McKemy and Charlie McKemy; one brother, James Edward McKemy of Fisherville; one sister, Rebecca Crawford of Roanoke; three aunts, Bessie Oyler, Salley Turner and Anna Gibson, all of Roanoke; a very special cousin, Priscilla, and his faithful dog, Cody. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 12, 2004, at 3 p.m. at Farris Funeral Service. Reverend Larry Linkous and Reverend Joseph Baker will officiate. Katherine "Kathy" Rosser McElroy, age 49, died Sunday, April 11, 2004. Kathy was a graduate of Virginia High School and attended Wingate College and Georgia Southern University. She had been employed as a flight attendant with U.S. Airways for 25 years. She was preceded in death by her father, James Craig Rosser. She is survived by a son, Justin Craig McElroy of the home; her mother, Betty M. Rosser of Bristol Virginia; two brothers, James Lee Rosser of Bristol Virginia, and John M. Rosser and wife Jo C. Rosser of Bristol Virginia; a special niece, Leah C. Rosser of Bristol Virginia; an aunt, Mrs. Ann R. King of Bristol Tennessee; and an uncle, Dr. George Rosser of Charlotte, N.C. A memorial service will be conducted at 7:15 p.m. Thursday, April 15, 2004, in the Chapel of State Street United Methodist Church, with Rev. Fred Dearing officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. before the memorial service. Muriel M. Prather
Mrs. Muriel Moyle Prather, age 85 died Tuesday, April 13, 2004, at her home. She was born in Mattawan, Michigan to the late Harry and Julia Moyle. She lived there until she and her husband, Olin moved to Midland Texas where they lived for fifteen years. They then returned to Mattawan for ten years; following that they lived in Prestonsburg, Kentucky where they stayed until moving to Abingdon in 1980. Muriel was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed doll making, crafts and card playing with her friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Olin; three brothers, Richard Moyle, Larry Moyle and Dan Moyle and Joyce Widener who was a loving caregiver and friend. She is survived by: A sister in law, Ramona Moyle Wright of Vicksburg, Michigan Nieces and nephews, Linda Schuring, Marykay Boven, Daniel Moyle, David Moyle, Richard Moyle, Carolyn Solomon, and Harry Moyle. Also surviving are her loving caregivers she considered as family, Bruce Prather, Betty Blevins, Sandra Cook, Patty Roberts, Audrey Neal, Mary Neal, Eula Grant, Sabrina Cannon. The family would like to extend a heartfelt appreciation to ' her girls' for all the love, kindness, and dedication given to Muriel over the years. William L. Adkins
Mr. William Larry (Bill) Adkins of Bristol, VA went to be with the Lord April 12th 2004 at Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley, West Virginia following a tragic automobile accident. He was born on April 22, 1932 in Harts, West Virginia to Mose and Kearnie Carter Adkins who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Smith Adkins on October 12, 2003. He was employed by Sears as a regional Consultant. He later owned a Sears Catalog Store in Lebanon, VA for fourteen years prior to retirement. He was of the Baptist faith and attended Lebanon Baptist Church, Lebanon, VA. The family wishes to acknowledge his ' walking buddies' at Bristol Mall. Survivors include his son, David Boice Adkins of St. Charles, Mo; a granddaughter, Amy Adkins; twin grandsons, Adam and Anthony Adkins; their mother: Dianne Adkins. He is also survived by two brothers: Virgil Adkins and wife Donna, Raymond Adkins and wife Thena; two sisters: Alice Marcum of Charleston, W. VA.; Pansey Toler of Oceana, W. VA.; one half-brother: Phillip Kelly Adkins of Ravenswood, W. VA.; Two stepbrothers: Nathan and Vernon Marcum of Greenview, W. VA.; one step-sister: Brookie Burgess of Greenview, W. Brenda Kay France, age 42, formerly of Maryville, TN died the morning of April 14, 2004 after a brief battle with cancer in Virginia. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Cleo McKee, William and Lola Waters and her late husband, Jimmie Thatcher. She is survived by her loving husband, George France of Virginia, loving sons, Landry and Jacob Thatcher, loving mother, Patsy Bailey, father, Bobbie Waters and wife, Judy Waters, grandmother, Ruth McKee, grandparents, Gene and Jo LeQuire, sisters, Kimberly Beasley, Melissa Daniel and husband Ronnie Daniel, brothers, Eddie Waters, Robbie Waters and Joy Waters, nieces and nephews, Amanda Beasley, Matt Burchfield,Chelsey Daniel, Ronnie Daniel and Ezra Waters, many special aunts, uncles and cousins, many special extended family and friends in both Virginia and Maryvillle, TN. MR. EMMETT BUFORD MONK, 77, went to be with our Lord, Friday, April 16, 2004. He was born November 2, 1926 in Russell County, Virginia to the late John Fine and Maggie Hicks Monk. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Philippines in World War II. He attended the Gospel Tabernacle Church and was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Martin Monk of 42 years on July 2, 1994. Tammy C. Morelock
Mrs. Tammy Carrier Morelock, 42, went to be with her Lord Friday, April 16, 2004, in Johnston Memorial Hospital after a four year courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Bristol and lived there until 1972, when her family moved to Abingdon. Tammy accepted Jesus as her Savior at the age of twelve, and she was a member of Abingdon Baptist Church. She was a 1979 graduate of Abingdon High School and a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Western Carolina University in 1983. Tammy moved to Greeneville, Tennessee following college, and she and her husband Roy married on May 20, 1989. Tammy was employed as Director of Medical Records at Laughlin Memorial Hospital. In 2001, the family moved to Abingdon where Tammy was working as site manager and medical coding specialist for Health Information Associates at Johnston Memorial Hospital. She was a member of American Health Information Management Association. Tammy enjoyed tennis and watching her daughter Lauren play sports. Tammy was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James Scott, Sr., and Mr. and Mrs. E. L. ' Pete' Carrier, Sr. She is survived by her husband, Roy D. Morelock, of Abingdon; one daughter, Lauren Danielle Morelock of the home; her parents, E. L. ' Buddy' , Jr. and Betty Jo Carrier of Abingdon; one brother and sister-in-law, Brian and Colleen Carrier of Purcellville, Virginia; three nieces and nephews, Joshua, Ellie and Daniel Carrier of Purcellville; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Rev. John J. Cooper
Rev. John J. Cooper, age 83, died Friday, April 16, 2004 at the Valley Health Care Center in Chilhowie, VA. He was born on March 14, 1921 in Coshocton, Ohio and was a son of the late John Dell Cooper and Lora Smith Cooper. Rev. Cooper received his doctorate degree from the University of Colorado. Before he became ordained in the Lutheran Church, Rev. Cooper was a professor of choral music and a college administrator. He was a former instructor at Tennessee Technological University, Louisiana Tech University and Virginia Western Community College. He was a U. S. Army Veteran of WW II and had served as a teaching missionary in Thailand for the Lutheran Church In America. After becoming ordained, he served as the pastor of Christ Lutheran Church in Radford and at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Konnarock, VA. Survivors include his wife, Marcia Cooper; a daughter and son-in-law, Holly and Tommy Hughes of Blountville; a grand daughter, Katie Fulton; mother-in-law, Margaret Lambert of Blountville; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Russell and Jean Lambert of Blountville, Richard and Sallie Lambert of Kingsport and Mark And Judy Lambert of Virginia Beach, VA and a cousin, Constance English of Ohio. A Service of Celebration of the Resurrection of Rev. John J. Cooper will be held at 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, April 21, 2004 in St. John Lutheran Church, 807 E. Main Street, Abingdon, VA with Bishop James A. Mauney officiating. In place of flowers, the family asks that those wishing to honor Rev. Harold Price
Mr. Harold E. Price, age 65, died Sunday April 18, 2004 in the Johnston Memorial Hospital. Harold was a lifelong resident of Washington County and attended the Barnes Chapel Church. He was employed with Baker Construction for the past fifteen years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Emily Harless Price, a sister, Charlotte Price and a brother, Keith Price. Survivors include his wife, Faye Price, a son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Kim Price, a sister, Nancy I. Musick, grandchildren, Austin Price and Nikki Price all of Abingdon, VA, two special aunts, Mary Belle Price and Helen Price, several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, April 20, 2004 at 8:00 p.m. in the Farris Funeral Chapel with Rev. Roger Hearl and Rev. John W. Price officiating. The committal graveside service will be conducted Wednesday, April 21, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. in Knollkreg Memorial Park. George R. Mullins
Mr. George Reece Mullins, age 64, died Tuesday, April 20, 2004 in the Welmont Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN. Survivors include his wife Brenda M. Mullins; two sons, Tim Mullins of Piney Flats, TN and Daniel Mullins of Lake Ridge, VA; a brother, David Mullins of Honeypath, SC; three grandchildren and one great grandchild. Robert W. Gibson, Jr.
Mr. Robert W. Gibson, Jr., age 84, formerly of Grundy, Virginia went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, April 20, 2004. He was born in Bluefield, West Virginia and later moved to Grundy, Virginia where he spent most of his life before moving to Abingdon in 1991. He was a World War II veteran and attended Peabody College in Nashville, Tennessee. He was a retired businessman beginning in the oil business and becoming the founder and President of Bob Gibson Powder Company in Grundy, which grew into two other explosive companies, Gibson Explosives in Duffield, Virginia and Lily Explosives in Beckley, West Virginia. While living in Grundy he served on the town council, the water commission, Chamber of Commerce and he was the Chairman of the Democratic Party. He was an active member of the American Legion and was a member of the Sandy Valley Masonic Lodge in Grundy. He also served on the Board of Directors at Dominion Bank. While in Abingdon, he enjoyed being a member of the Virginia Highlands Society, Abingdon Historical Society and Glenrochie County Club. He was a member of the Gundy Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday School teacher and attended Highlands Fellowship in Abingdon. He was a supporter of the university of Virginia Athletic Foundation. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He was the son of the late Robert W. Gibson, Sr. and Nannie Linkous Gibson and preceded in death by two wonderful sons, Robert W. Gibson, III and Steven Frazier Gibson. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Martha Lee Gibson; one daughter, Nancy Witt and husband, A.D. of Abingdon; six grandchildren, Meredith and Kevin Heneshaw, Jill Gibson, Alex and Emily Gibson, Robin and Ben Harrell, Allison Witt and Rebecca Gibson and was blessed with four special great-grandchildren and one special nephew, Brandon T. White. A funeral service will be conducted Friday, April 23, 2004 at 11:00 AM in the Farris Funeral Chapel at 427 East Main Street with Pastor Jimmie Davidson and Rev. John Stapleton officiating. Entombment will follow in the Colonial Chapel Mausoleum at Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Genola L. Edwards
Mrs. Genola Lane Edwards, age 90, died Thursday, April 22, 2004 at Johnston Memorial Hospital. She was born on July 15, 1913 in Dickenson County, VA and was a daughter of the late Cleophas Lane and Alice Reedy Lane. Mrs. Edwards was also preceded in death by her husband Lonzo Edwards. Mrs. Edwards was a Charter member of Yates Chapel Freewill Baptist Church and had attended Jackson Memorial Church prior to her death. . She is survived by her daughters, Ann Orr and husband Thomas of Abingdon; Rita Salyers and husband Mark of Meadowview, VA; Carol Morisette of Madison Heights, MI and Sharon Rhudy of St. Cloud, FL; a sister, Leola Markland of Morristown, TN; 16 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren. The funeral service will be conducted at 2 P.M., Saturday, April 24, 2004 in the Farris Funeral Chapel with Brother Gary Harless and Brother Gary Stanley officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Casket bearers will be selected from family members. Honorary casket bearers will be Dr. Andrew Rhinehart and the deacons of Yates Chapel Freewill Baptist Church and Jackson Memorial Church. Annie B. Rushing
Annie Naomi Byrum Rushing, 84, died Saturday, April 24, 2004 at Valley Health Care Center in Chilhowie, VA. She was born in Charlotte, NC and later lived in Baltimore, MD. She retired to Bristol, VA in 1981. Her husband, Phillip Rushing, parents Fulton and Sarah Byrum, brothers Lewis and Pressley Byrum, and sisters Luella Stevens, Viola Phillips, and Hazeline Hudson precede her in death. She is survived by three sons, Wayne & wife Anne of Hampstead, MD, Larry & wife Cynthia of Bristol, VA, Donald & wife Patricia of Parkville MD; one grandson: Larry Rushing II of Blacksburg, VA; five granddaughters, Angela Kelly of Baltimore, MD, Belinda Rushing of Sweet Briar, VA, Melissa Zahn of Hampstead, MD, Jeni Rushing of Jonesborough, TN, Holly Rushing of Hampstead, MD; two sisters, Gertie Collins of Charlotte NC, and Blanche McAllister of McLeansville, NC; and one brother, F. W. (Dub) Byrum of Stanley, NC. She had four great-grandchildren: Maria, Emma, Ella, and Devin. She had five stepchildren: Mary Miller of Annapolis, MD, Betty Jo Kiima of Parkville, MD, Judy Lovell of Arbutus, MD, William Rushing of St. Petersburg, FL, Phillip Rushing, Jr. of Florida. A graveside funeral service will be held Tuesday April 27, 2004 at 11:00 A. M. at Knollkreg Memorial Park. Reverend John Massey will officiate. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6-8 P. M. at Farris Funeral Service in Abingdon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society P. O. Robert Delapp, Jr.
Mr. Robert ' Bob' Delapp, Jr. 84, entered into eternal rest on April 21, 2004. He was the son of the late Jannie Shoemaker Clouden and Robert Delapp, Sr. Bob was a veteran of the United States Army where he served in France, Rhineland, Scotland and England. He received the Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon and the World War II Victory Ribbon. After the military, he became a certified diesel mechanic and was employed by Pope' s Ready Mix Company until he retired. He was preceded in death by his stepparents: Signora Delapp and William ' Bill' Clouden as well as two infant sons. Bob was united in marriage to Laura Belle Stigger Delapp, and to this union he leaves to cherish his memory: Andrew Allen of Charlotesville; Diane Key and son-in-law: Howard Key of Schuyler, VA; William Delapp of Bristol, VA; Joanne Delapp-Rumsey of Charlottesville and friend Joe Cannon of Norfolk; Rebecca Newton, stepsister of Abingdon; Robert Stigger, brother-in-law of New River; Hazel Miller, sister-in-law of New River. He was blessed to have 16 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews as well as other relatives and friends. A graveside service will be held at Forest Hills Memory Gardens on Tuesday April 27, 2004 at 2:00 P. M. Reverend H. L. Long and Deacon Howard Key will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Farris Funeral Service Forest Hills Chapel. Callie J. Short
Mrs. Callie Jane Sells Short, 81, of Abingdon died Saturday April 24, 2004 at Johnston Memorial Hospital. A native of McDowell County, West Virginia, Mrs. Shortt was the daughter of the late Roby and Lucy Jane Hash Sells. She was of the Pentecostal faith and was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Lee (Junior) Shortt. Survivors include two daughters: Barbara Doss-Fernbaugh and friend Mack Dishner of Bristol, VA; Elaine and Kenneth McVey of Abingdon; one step-son: Thomas E. Shortt, III and wife Shirley of Thomasville, NC; two step-daughters: Phyllis Helton and husband Teddy of Bristol, VA; Nancy Bailey and husband Roger of Abingdon; one brother: Hubert Sells of Abingdon; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A crypt side service will be held on Tuesday April 27, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. at the Chapel of Memories Mausoleum in Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Pastor Thomas Shortt of From Behind The Veil Ministries in Thomasville, NC will officiate.

David W. Hale, III
David Wayne Hale, III, age 6, died Sunday, April 25, 2004 from injuries sustained in an accident. He was born and had lived in Princeton, West Virginia until moving to Abingdon two years ago. He was kindergarten student at Abingdon Elementary School. David was an avid reader and had shown an interest in becoming a paleontologist. He had an outgoing personality and never met a stranger. Eula M. Moore
Mrs. Eula Mahona Martin Moore, 93, passed away, Monday, April 26, 2004 at Johnston Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Campbell Moore; a daughter, Mildred Moore; sons, Norman Moore and Glenn ' Whick' Moore; a grandson, Kevin ' Blue' Moore. She was the last living member of the Martin family. She is survived by her daughters, Shirley Menzies and husband, John, Mechanicsville, VA; Virginia Tedder, Abingdon; Nancy Moore, Meadowview; her sons, Sherman Moore and wife, Sheila, Meadowview; Ike Moore, Meadowview. Eleven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Billy Cook, Mike Moore, Mike Hoback, Randy Moore, Chris Moore, John Moore and Jason Moore. Honorary pallbearers will be Ralph Scott, David Hill, Ken Davenport, Jack Snavely, George Hockett, Allen Duncan and Shorty Caudill. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 28, 2004 in the Farris Funeral Chapel. Pastor Scott Spence will officiate. Interment will be in Blackwell Chapel Cemetery. Margaret M. Kelly
Mrs. Margartet Maxine (Sam) Kelly, 73, of Abingdon died Tuesday April 27, 2004 at Johnston Memorial Hospital. A native and lifelong resident of Washington County, Mrs. Kelly was a retired proctor with Virginia Highlands Community College. She was a member of Smyth Chapel United Methodist Church. Survivors include four sons: Edward McCray, Jr. and wife Mary Ellen of Doylestown, Pa; Henry Richard Lohoefer, III of Texas; David McCarl Lohoefer and companion Bobby Rivera of Dallas, TX; Jeffrey Craig Lohoefer of Abingdon; two daughters: Cynthia Dawn Weinrich and husband Carl of Sarasota, FL; Linda Diane Bible and husband Jimmy of Laurens, SC; two sisters: Mary Owens and husband George of Meadowview; Sylvia Golightly and husband Frank of Fredericksburg, VA: eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday April 30, 2004 at 2:00 P. M. at Farris Funeral Chapel. Reverend Tim Kobler will officiate. Cornelia L. Cruise
Mrs. Cornelia Lamont Cruise, age 98, passed away April 29, 2004 in Westhaven Retirement Living. Mrs. Cruise was a member of the Greendale Chapel and a former charter member of the Abingdon Presbyterian Church. She was a past Postmaster of the Clinchco Post Office and was preceded in death by an infant son and her husband, G. W. Cruise. Survivors include three sons, William L. Cruise, Hawaii, Robert F. Cruise, Sr. and wife, Donna, Abingdon, VA, John A. Cruise and wife, Sandy, Boise, Idaho, four grandchildren, Cathleen Thompson and husband, Phil, Ann Arbor, Michigan, Karen McMackin and husband, Jim, Johnson City, TN, David T. Cruise, Grass Valley, California and Robert F. Cruise, Jr., and wife, Jennifer, Meadowview, VA, now serving in Iraq, five great grandchildren. The funeral service will be conducted Sunday, May 2, 2004 at 8:00 p.m. in the Farris Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jerry Eggers officiating. The committal graveside service will be conducted Monday, May 3, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. in Temple Hill Memorial Park. Those attending are asked to meet at the cemetery. Pallbearers will Dr. Robert C.
