Peggy L. Martin
ROWE - Mrs. Peggy Louise Martin, 66, passed away Friday, July 26, 2002, in a Tazewell hospital. Born April 19, 1936, in Russell County, she was a daughter of the late Casey and Hattie Hess Blankenship. She was a lifelong resident of the Russell and Buchanan counties areas and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence L. Martin; one brother, Isaac Blankenship; and one granddaugther, Megan Brown.
Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law, Anita and Billy Helton of Elk Garden, Nancy and Ricky Brown of Rowe, Jean and Bobby Street of Swords Creek and Connie and Johnny Brown of Honaker; two sisters, Betty Hess of Rowe and Dorothy Dotson of Honaker; two brothers, Fred Blankenship of Honaker and Lucas Blankenship of Rowe; seven grandchildren, Mark Helton, Matthew Helton, Chris Brown, Dustin Brown, Adam Brown, Brandon Street and Ashley Street.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Sunday in Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, with Rev. Ancil Childress and Rev. Clyde Lambert officiating. Interment will follow in Baldwin Cemetery at Drill.
Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may call at Honaker Funeral Home after 6 p.m. Saturday.

Tempie McGlothlin
CEDAR BLUFF - Tempie G. Kegley McGlothlin, 92, of the Baptist Valley area entered into eternal peace with her Savior Thursday, July 25, 2002, at Tazewell Community Hospital in Tazewell. Born April 11, 1919, in Hansonville in Russell County, she was a daughter of the late Charlie H. Kegley and Willie Price Kegley. She resided in Baptist Valley since 1934, where she owned and operated McGlothlin's Service Store for 50 years (1944-1994), retiring at the age of 84. She was a member of Yost Chapel Freewill Baptist Church in Baptist Valley. She will forever be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and wonderful friend to so many. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Frank McGlothlin; one daughter, Patty Love Surber; four sisters; and five brothers. Tempie was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth Guy and Hazel McGlothlin of Huntington,W.Va.; daughter and son-in-law, Dolly and Dewey Chapman of Tazewell; son-in-law, James Kenneth Surber of Castlewood; five grandchildren, Kenneth Surber and wife, Julia, of Kingsport, Kathy Cochran and husband, Jerry, of NorthTazewell, Gina Young and husband, Donnie, of Salem, Joe McGlothlin and wife, Nita, of Huntington and Phil McGlothlin of Charlotte, N.C. ; nine great-grandchildren, Aaron and wife, Carrie, Chad, Ashley and Allison Cochran, Justin and Kevin Young, Adam and Rebecca Surber and Craig McGlothlin; one great-great-granddaughter, Anna Rae Cochran; special friends and caregivers, Ruth and J.C. Altizer, Charlene Strouth, Betty and Ken Hurd and Eloise O'Quinn.
Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Saturday, July 27, 2002, at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 6-8 p.m. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Sunday, July 28, 2002, at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, Va.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Baptist Valley Fire Department, c/o Mark Bailey, Treasurer, Route 6, Box 94A, North Tazewell, VA 24630, or Yost Chapel Freewill Baptist Church, c/o Peggy Waddell, Treasurer, Route 5, Box 178, North Tazewell, VA 24630.

Robert B. Miller
BLOUNTVILLE - Robert B. Miller, 90, died Thursday July 25, 2002.
Mr. Miller was born in Albany, N.Y., and had been a resident of the Kingsport area since 1987, moving here from upstate New York.
He was co-owner of Bullingers, which prints Bullingers Guide. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army in Europe.
Mr. Miller was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Abingdon.
His parents, Robert E. and Lola Wellman Miller; and a sister, Madelyn Miller, preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife, Anna J. (Mildred) Miller of Blountville; three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert B. Miller II and Nancy of Kingsport, John Edward Miller and Lorraine of New High Park, N.Y, and Kenneth Paul Miller and Celia of Carrollton, Ga.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 27, 2002, at St. John Lutheran Church with Rev. C. Willam Howell officiating.
The family will receive friends following the memorial service at the church.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at National Cemetery in Mountain Home, Tenn., with military graveside rites conducted by Hammond Post 3 of the American Legion.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 657, Abingdon, VA 24212.

Kenneth Moore
Kenneth "Ken" Moore, 69, of 82 Vance Tank Road, Bristol, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord Thursday, July 25, 2002, at his residence.
Born in Bristol Tennessee on Aug. 18, 1932, a son of the late James F. and Minnie Akers Moore, he lived most of his life in this area.
Mr. Moore was a truck driver and was retired from Arrow Automotive.
He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Moore attended Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Ruby Glennon Olsen Moore of the home; four daughters, Kimberly Moore and Lynn Moore, both of Bristol Tennessee, Stephanie Bass and husband, Mike, and Tracie Hudson, both of Pensacola, Fla.; grandsons Jordan Hudson and Timothy Bass; four sisters, Katie Rouse, Jean Love, Ann Rosenbalm and Lousie White, all of Bristol Tennessee; two brothers, Bobby Joe Moore and William "Bill" Moore, both of Bristol Tennessee; one very special family friend, Margie Moore; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 28, 2002, in Weaver Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. James Sproles will officiate. Burial will follow in Susong Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jamie Rosenbalm, Chad Love, Shane Rouse, Johnny Moore, Joe Moore and Jerry Moore. Honorary pallbearers are Ricky White, Kenneth "Bo" Moore, Timmy Rouse and Brian Rouse.
Military honors to be rendered by the Patton-Crosswhite VFW Post 6975.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, July 27, 2002, at the funeral home.
Weaver Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Miles H. Moore
MEADOWVIEW - Mr. Miles H. Moore, 98, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday evening July 24, 2002, at his residence.
Mr. Moore was the widower of Myrtle Rickman Moore and had lived and worked most of his life in Meadowview as a watch and clock repairman.
He was a son of the late Robert Taylor Moore and Nellie Rector Moore. Mr. Moore was also preceded in death by a sister, Gwendolyn Puckett, his brothers William, Carl and Alfred Moore; and a foster son, Jerry Cardwell.
Survivors include sons Gerald Moore and wife, Margaret, of Charlottesville, Va., Clyde Moore and wife, Patricia, of Aylett, Va., Bob Moore and wife, Linnay, of Dayton, Ohio, Paul Moore and wife, Phyllis, of Bristol Virginia and Butch Cardwell of Bristol Virginia; daughters Evelyn Barnett and husband, Pete, of Tullahoma, Tenn., Sylvia Flick and husband, Everett, of Bristol Tennessee, Nellie Jane Patrick of Kettering, Ohio, Mavis Snodgrass and husband, John, of Knoxville, Pauline Buckles and husband, Fred, of Meadowview; sister Lucille Wallace of Crossville, Tenn.; long-term caregiver, Louise Offield; 21 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The graveside service will be conducted Saturday, July 27, 2002, at 10 a.m. in Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Reverend Elden Bergen officiating. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. A memorial service will follow the graveside service at 11 a.m. in Pilgrim Baptist Church, Abingdon. Friends may assemble at the cemetery for the graveside service Saturday. There will be no public visitation in the funeral home. The family will meet at the funeral home one hour prior to the graveside service.

Michael K. Mullins
BLUFF CITY - Michael Kenneth Mullins, 47, of 558 Bunker Hill Road died Thursday, July 25, 2002, in the Hospice House of Bristol, Bristol Tennessee, following a brief illness. A native of Tampa, Fla., he was the son of Bernice Joyce Wilcox Mullins of Elizabethton and the late Cecil Kenneth Mullins, He was a member of Doe River Baptist Church, Elizabethton, and was self-employed. Mr. Mullins was an avid race car fan. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Marines and U.S. Army.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Belva E. Mullins of the home; four daughters and one son-in-law, Christine Hopson Webb, Ala., Karen "Missy" and Lee W. Jr. Mixon, Shaw Air Force Base, S.C., Tara Summer Timmons, Homstead, Fla., and Jessi Leigh Mullins, Bluff City; and two grandchildren, Kaylee Mixon and Nathan Mixon, both of Shaw Air Force Base.
The funeral service will be conducterd at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 27, 2002, at the Chapel of Peace, Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Mr. Ernie Depew, Minister, officiating. Private disposition will be conducted at a later date.
The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Saturday, July 27, 2002, at the Chapel of Peace, Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, or friends may call other times at the residence, 558 Bunker Hill Road, Bluff City, Tenn., or friends may also call at the residence of his mother, Bernice Joyce Wilcox Mullins, 136 Treadway St., Elizabethton, any time. Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton.

Vinton R. Pennington
MARION - Vinton Ray Pennington, 60, died Thursday, July 25, 2002, in Smyth County Community Hospital in Marion.
He was born in Smyth County to the late John Vinton and Hattie Rowland Pennington and was employed at Visador for more than 20 years. He was a member of Rowland Creek Church of the Brethren.
Survivors include wife, Agnes I. Pennington; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jeannie and Ken Hunt of Evington, Va., and Beverly and Lynn Stradinger of Isabel, S.D.; one son, David Allen Pennington of Marion; two sisters, Pearl Blevins of Harrison, Ark., and Linda McElhanon, ofPetersburg, Va.; two brothers, James W. Pennington of Chesapeake, Va., and R. Wayne Pennington of Prince George, Va.; three grandchildren; Heather Sturgill, Amanda Bradley and Amy McGrady; mother-in-law, Frances Bennett of Marion; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Sunday from Bradley's Funeral Home Chapel in Marion with Rev. Jack Garland and Rev. Mark Totten officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at South Fork Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home. Bradley's Funeral Home, Marion, is serving the Pennington family.

Billy Price
ABINGDON - Billy Price, 45, died Friday, July 26, 2002, at home. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. Farris Funeral Service is serving the family of Billy Price.

Sarah E. Price
Mrs. Sarah E. Price, 88, of 829 Page St., Bristol, Va., died Friday, July 26, 2002, at Bristol Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.
Mrs. Price was a native of Sullivan County and a daughter of the late Millard and Bertie Blevins White. Mrs. Price was a member of Bradley Street Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward B. Price; six brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors include one daughter, Sharon Cresong of Bristol Virginia; one sister, Ruby Lyon of Bluff City; one sister-in-law, Edell White of Bluff City; one granddaughter, Beth Pullon of Piney Flats; one grandson, David Cresong of Bristol Virginia; three great-grandchildren, Mandy Cresong and Crystal Cresong, both of Bristol Virginia, and Ashley Pullon of Piney Flats; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday, July 28, 2002, in Tetrick Funeral Home, Bluff City Chapel, with Rev. Bill Pealer and Rev. E.W. Ely officiating. Graveside service and interment will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Shipley Cemetery. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 2 p.m. Monday to go in procession to the cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
Honorary pallbearers will be nurses and staff of the 4th and 3rd floors West of Bristol Regional Medical Center and the staff and nurses of Cambridge House.
To those who desire, memorials may be made to Bradley Street Baptist Church, 2218 Bradley St., Bristol, VA 24202.
The family will receive friends in the Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday prior to the service. Friends may call at the residence of the daughter, Sharon Cresong, 612 Page St., Bristol, Va., at any time.

Mary H. Smith
LEBANON - Burial for Mary Ohlene Hubble Smith will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 27, 2002, in Russell Memorial Cemetery. Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers. Those wishing to go in procession to the cemetery are requested to meet at the funeral home by 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 27, 2002.
Mrs. Smith, 75, died Thursday, July 25, 2002, in Maple Grove Health Care Center.

Edgar W. Vance
LAKELAND, Fla. - Edgar William Vance, 85, of 51 Inman Drive died Monday, July 22, 2002, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, Lakeland. He was a native of Abingdon and the son of the late Issac and Mary Kinnick Vance. He was a former owner/operator of Burger King in Bristol Virginia. He was a Navy veteran, having served in World War II. He was a member of the Masonic Temple of Bristol Virginia, a member of the Shriners of Bristol Virginia, a member of Knights Templers of Bristol Virginia and a member of VFW Post of Lakeland. Mr. Vance was a member of Edgement Presbyterian Church of Bristol Tennessee.
He is survived by wife, Mrs. Gladys Vance of Lakeland; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday, July 28, 2002, in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Talmadge Brown will officiate and Masonic Rights will be rendered. Vocal selection will be provided by Sabrina Silvers. The family will receive friends Sunday at Valley Funeral Home from 6 until service time and other times at the residence of a nephew, Bill Bowman, 1800 Jonesborough Highway, Erwin. Interment will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 29, 2002, with miltiary graveside honors conducted by the VFW Post 2166, in the National Cemetery, Mountain Home, Tenn. These arrangements are made especially for the family and friends of Edgar William Vance through Valley Funeral Home, 1085 N. Main Ave., Erwin.

Patricia L. Vaughn
The funeral service for Patricia L. Widner Vaughn will be conducted at 11 o'clock Saturday morning, July 27, at the graveside in Barker Cemetery, Livingston Creek Road, with Pastor Tom Hicks officiating. Burial will follow.
Mrs. Vaughn, 55, of Bristol Tennessee, died Thrusday, July 25, 2002, at Bristol Regional Medical Center.
Arrangements especially for Mrs. Vaughn have been made through Blevins Funeral Home.

Ruth B. Waddell
Ruth Burwell Waddell, 81, of 310 Pink Dogwood Circle, Bristol, Tenn., died Friday, July 26, 2002, at Wellmont Hospice House. She was born in Leoma, Tenn., a daughter of the late Fred and Cornelia Alcorn Burwell, and had lived in Bristol since 1986. She and her late husband, Clyde Wilson Waddell, operated Waddell Grocery Store in Concord, N.C., prior to retiring in 1983. She was a member of Addilynn Memorial United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Bolling of Bristol Tennessee, and Rebecca Tulloch of Odessa, Del.; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a niece and a nephew.
The funeral service will be conducted at 5 o'clock Sunday afternoon in the Chapel of Oakley-Cook Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Brown and Rev. L.G. Widener officiating. Entombment will follow in the Heritage Chapel of Memories Mausoleum at Glenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rusty Hagy, Jamie Upchurch, Stacy Hawthorne, Ray McRae, Jerry Sproles and Ralph Callahan.
The family will receive friends from 4 until 4:50 p.m. Sunday at Oakley-Cook Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Addilynn Memorial United Methodist Church or Wellmont Hospice House. Arrangements especially for Mrs. Waddell have been made through Oakley-Cook Funeral Home.
