Frank L. BARBARICK

On October 29th, 2001 we said goodbye to a wonderful man. Frank L. Barbarick, born December 28th, 1931 in Bugscuffle, Texas, left his home on earth much too soon for those he left behind. A man who defined integrity, Frank, in his early twenties began an illustrious career in law enforcement by joining the United States Air Force and becoming an investigator for the 315th Air Police Squad. Then he joined the San Fernando Police Department where he was considered one of the top narcotic detectives in California. It was during this time that Frank also had a brief acting career that included an appearance in the Ed Wood classic "Plan Nine from Outer Space." Figuring John Wayne and Jimmy Stewart had all the good parts wrapped up, he went on to become the Chief of Police of West Linn, Oregon before moving on to study at the FBI Academy. He then had a twenty-year career serving his country as one of the most respected postal inspectors in the nation. Many of the men and women who worked with and trained under Frank are putting much of what they learned from him to good use in their pursuit of those who would attempt to destroy America's mail system. As gifted as he was professionally, it paled in comparison to who he was personally. Frank was a truly dedicated husband of 43 years to his wife Dodie, a loving and committed father to daughter Heidi and Traci, sons-in-law Tom and Dan, and the absolute perfect Papa to his sweet six "blondies" Britta, Brianna, Caitlin, Madeline, Abby and Olivia. There will never be a day that we won't miss this exceptional man. He handled his final challenge the same way that he did all the others in his life, with courage, more concern for those around him than himself, and a dignity that we will always try to emulate. The number of lives he touched and those he saved can never be measured. A Celebration of this man's wonderful life will be held on Sunday, December 2, 2001 at 5 p.m. at the Lake City Elk's Club, 14540 - Bothell Way N.E. (206) 364-1800.
