Dorothea C. EIDE

Dot passed on Sept. 20, 2001. She was born July 20, 1913 to Ben and Audrey Schultz and was raised in Miles City, MT. She married Gil Eide in 1940 and the next year moved to Wrangell, AK, then in 1942 they moved to Juneau, AK. which was their home for the next 60 years. For health reasons, they moved to Federal Way, WA. in late 1999. While in Alaska, Dot worked as secretary for then Gov. Ernest Gruening and then spent 20 years working for school administrators. Grandma Dot is survived by her husband of 61 years, Gil, of Federal Way, her son Doc (Dolly) also of Federal Way, grandson Duke (Kristen) of Kirkland, WA. and granddaughter Dani of Des Moines, WA. Her sister Hazel McRae of Jordan, Mt, also survives her. Private family services will be held in Oct. Remembrances may be made to the Drew Haag Scholarship Fund, 608 S. 291st St. Federal Way, WA. 98003. (Obit dated 09/30/2001.)

Roberta Lynn EVELAND

passed away September 26 at her home after a long illness. Bobbie Lynn, as she was known to her family and friends, was born Roberta Lynn Kitts in Spokane, WA. on April 18, 1939. She graduated in dietetics from the University of Washington and served as head dietitian at Doctors and Swedish Hospitals. Later, she pursued her passion for food and reading by operating a small bookstore in Wallingford, A Cookbook Cottage. She is survived by her beloved sons, Mark Christopher and Kevin Patrick Vaughan, their father John Patrick Vaughan, three grandchildren, and her brother Daniel Kitts who resides in Connecticut. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, October 1st, at 12 Noon at St. Benedict Church, 1700 N. 49th St. Seattle. Interment, Calvary cemetery. Hoffner Fisher & Harvey (Obit dated 09/30/2001.)

Accountant; Passed suddenly on 10/01/01. Born in the Netherlands on 12/02/1930. Survived by his wife and his love Terrie, stepchildren Robert DeVelder & fiance Leiann Tunks, Kellie & Michael Mayo, his Son Jay, Daughters Audrey, Linda, & Dixie. Numerous grandchildren & great-grandchildren, friends & neighbors. Brothers Peiter (Holland), Simon (New Zealand), Albert (Australia), Sister Helen (Holland). preceded in death by Stepson Stephen. Memorial Services to be held at St. Mathews Lutheran Church, 8330 - 212th St. S.W., Edmonds on 10/06/01 at 2 p.m.

Dawn Hazel FOX
April 11, 1914 - September 14, 2001

Beloved mother, grandmother and great grand mother. Survived by two sons Irving and wife Jo Ann, and Bill and wife Pat; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was prede ceased by husband Myer (Mike) Fox, June 1980. She was a gourmet cook, a homemaker extraordinaire and loved to entertain family and friends. She loved the outdoors; skiing, fly fishing, gardening and clamming. She will be missed and remembered by all of her family. God bless her. Julia I. FREDELL

Julia I. FREDELL, 81, of Redmond, WA., died after a long illness July 17, 2001 at Evergreen Hospice Center. Julia was born May 16, 1920 in Minneapolis, MN. and moved to Renton, WA. in 1957 where she was employed at Boeing in Payroll. She enjoyed being with her grandkids and often took them places. She also played organ and piano in church when she was young. Julia was a very loving and giving mother. She is loved by many, and she will be missed here on earth but never in our hearts, She is survived by two sons, Wally (Linda) Fredell, Renton, WA. and Jack Fredell, Sequim, WA.; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Adelyne R. FREIBERG

passed away Sept. 20, 2001, at the Caroline Kline Galland Home. Adelyne Raban Freiberg was born in Louisville, KY. Dec. 31, 1907. She moved to Seattle as a child, and graduated from the first class at Garfield High School in 1924. She graduated from the Univ. of Washington in 1928. Married for 64 years to Jerome Freiberg, who passed away in 1997, Adelyne lived and raised her family in Seattle. She became an active member of the PTA when her children were young, and rose to become president of the Seattle Area PTA, and subsequently the Washington State Parents and Teachers Association. She was awarded a life membership in the State and National PTA. A lifetime supporter of public schools and education, she was appointed by Governor Daniel Evans as a Commissioner for Washington State to the Education Commission of the States, was a member of the Public School Committee of the Seattle and King County Municipal League, was a member of local, state and national committees for the support of public education. She was also president of the Anti-Tuberculosis League of King County. Always active in the Jewish community, Adelyne was a member of the Board of Trustees of Temple de Hirsch Sinai, was president of the Jewish Family and Child Service, Secretary of the Board at Caroline Kline Galland Home for the Aged, honored by the National Council of Jewish Women, and was active in the Pacific Northwest Region Anti-Defamation League. She was actively involved with the Jewish Federation, the Institute of Jewish Studies, and received both the "Woman of the Year" award and the Community Service Award from the Seattle Chapter B'nai B'rith. In more recent years, Adelyne was Parliamentarian for several organizations, including the Washington Association of Homes for the Aging and Temple de Hirsch Sinai. In her free time, she was a talented needle pointer, knitter and Cross-stitcher, and belonged to the Seattle Needle Arts Guild. She was a chaperone to Seattle Seafair Queens and Princesses for many years. She is survived by a son, Alan W. Freiberg of Bellevue (Janice), and a daughter, Carol F. Lang (Stuart) of Portland. Also surviving are three granddaughters and four great-grandchildren. Devoted mother and grandmother, she will be missed by all who knew her. 'Poppy' Oneal GAMBLE, Jr.

Poppy was sent to us on Oct. 17, 2000 and he brought joy, happiness, love and a lot of smiles with him (and instilled them in everyone). Poppy left us on Sept. 30, 2001 with the same joy, happiness and love. He left a lot of smiles, too. We all have suffered a great loss in losing him but we also gained a lot of good memories of him. Visitation Thurs. 12 to 8 p.m. and the fami ly would like for you all to come join us (with your joy, happiness, love and smiles) at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 5th at Evergreen-Washelli, 11111 Aurora Ave. N., Seattle to thank him and the Lord for sharing this all with us.

Hazel Maxine (Fry) GARDNER

Hazel Maxine (Fry) Gardner, resident of Seattle since 1959, died September 22, 2001 at Virginia Mason Hospital following an extended illness. She was born October 8, 1917 at her parent's homestead in Dodson, Montana. She graduated from Dodson High School in 1936, and attended 2 years a Polytechnic College in Billings, Montana. Hazel was married to Donald Earl Gardner on June 11, 1938 at Malta, Montana; they celebrated 56 years of marriage together until Donald's death in 1995. Hazel is survived by her daughter, Leta M. Baker, and husband, Ikey of Entiat, WA; son, Donald R. Gardner and wife, Kathleen of Kent, WA. She was preceded in death by her first son, Sidney Earl Gardner at Malta, Montana in 1939. She has eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. The grandchildren include, Tena M. Baker and husband, John Kellams of Chelan, WA, Donald W. and David M. Baker of Entiat, WA, Cheryl Delgado and Jill R. Baker of Lawton, Ok, John Duane Gardner and wife Amanda of California, David Clark of Arizona, and Colin Clark of Bellingham, WA. Hazel enjoyed her family very much and this was the highlight of her life; many camping trips were spent together, she also like working in her garden and reading the newspapers. Services will be held Saturday, September 29, 2001 at 3 p.m. at Purdy & Walters at Floral Hills in Lynnwood. Visitation: Saturday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. (Obit dated 09/28/2001.)

Maynita Augusta Irvine GEHRING

Born: March 22, 1931 Seattle, Washington Died: September 22, 2001 Richmond, California. She was preceded in death by her parents Helen & Pickens Irvine and Leonard & Lorraine Gehring and her infant daughter. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Le. Daughters & sons Ann (Larry) Smith, Puyallup WA. Len (Coral), Covington WA; Steve (Laura), Hamilton MT; Dave (Terri), Gladstone OR; Grandchildren Beth (Bill) Serenbetz USAF Bitburg, Germany, September & Jeff Gehring, Lorraine (Kenny) Reynolds, Rosemary & Kathleen Gehring, Janell & Dani Gehring and great grandson Logan Serenbetz. Also, stepmother Rosa Irvine, Oxnard CA. Brothers & sisters and their families in WA, CA, ID, MS and Canada: Louise (John) Gogal, Katie (Al) Carlson, Bill (Chizako) Irvine, Chuck (Maggie) Irvine, Virginia (Marino) Rossellini, Dave & Greg & John Irvine, Jeff (Jackie) Irvine, Bill (Sharon) Gehring, Harold (Marky) Gehring. Many nieces, nephews and friends. Nita grew up in Seattle, attended West Woodland Grade School, Sacred Heart Orphanage & graduated from Lincoln High School class of '49. She attended beauty school in Seattle and worked at the Puget Sound Navy Shipyard until she met a handsome young soldier, Le. Their courtship was through letters written while he was on the front lines of the Korean War. They were married November 29, 1952. Mom enjoyed, camping, jeeping, bluegrass music and most of all her family. She was a long time member of the Seattle Rump Bumpers Jeep Club, ham radio operator KA7RQP, avid reader and a member of the Highline Type II Diabetes Support Group. Most of all she was a sister, a wife, a mother, grandma and friend. Until we meet again, you are in our hearts and prayers. Your handmade crocheted afghans will keep us close. Mass of Christian Burial will be held today Friday, September 28th, 12 noon at Saint Bernadette's Catholic Church, Burien. Interment icon following at Gethsemane cemetery, Federal Way. Reception following at the home. Arrangements made by Bonney Watson-Parker Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Diabetes Association 557 Roy Street, lower level, Seattle, WA 98109. (Obit dated 09/28/2001.)
