Ryan Loper
Ryan Michael Loper, 8, of Silverdale died July 21, 1999, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born April 19, 1991, in San Diego to Michael and Linda (Baldy) Loper.
Survi-vors include his parents; a brother, Kyler Loper of Silverdale; his maternal grandmother, Pauline Baldy of Allyn; and his paternal grandmother, Bertha Loper of Asheboro, N.C.
A memorial service will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the chapel of the Naval Submarine Base at Bangor. Cremation will take place at Cherry Grove Memorial Park with inurnment at Forest Lawn cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
Memorial donations may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 215 Sixth Ave. N, Seattle, WA 98115 or to Make A Wish Foundation of Washington, 400 E Pine St., No. 220, Seattle, WA 98122.

Edith White
Edith Lucille White, 84, of Port Orchard died July 20, 1999, at Sydney House Assisted Living in Port Orchard.
She was born March 28, 1915, in Elberfeld, Ind., to Hiram E. and Minnie B. (Dassel) Greer. She grew up in Elberfeld, graduating from Elberfeld High School in 1933.
She married Walter "Ray" White on June 12, 1943. He preceded her in death in 1991.
Mrs. White was a homemaker. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Port Orchard, the Golden Fellowship Bible Study and the OWLS Senior Group.
Survivors include two brothers, Russel Greer of Sacramento, Calif., and Wayne Greer of Evansville, Ind.; and a sister, Jean Hahn of Port Orchard. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Deloyd Greer, in 1995.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home in Colleyville, Texas. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, also at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home. Local arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Memorial donations may be made to First Lutheran Church, 2483 Mitchell Ave., Port Orchard, WA 98366.

Emily Buenaventura
Emily Lagdameo Buenaventura, 2, of Port Orchard died June 23, 1999, in Las Vegas.
She was born July 10, 1996, in Bremerton to Teodoro D. and Jocelyn (Lagdameo) Buenaventura. She had lived in Bremerton and in Subic, Zambales, Philippines.
She is survived by her parents; a brother, Alex; and her grandparents, Rosy Abeyta of Silver Spring, Md., and Jose and Liwayway Lagdameo of Subic, Zambales, Philippines.
Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and Friday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Port Orchard. Interment icon will take place at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Buenaventura family, 10433 Horizon Lane, Port Orchard, WA 98367.

William Walton
William A. Walton, 77, of Port Orchard died July 20, 1999, at his home of cancer.
He was born Oct. 20, 1921, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, to Thomas and Lily (Burrell) Walton. He grew up in Chicago, graduating from Senn High School there in 1941.
He married Evelyn Dunn on June 10, 1942, in Bremerton.
Mr. Walton served in the Army during World War II from 1941 to 1945. He saw duty in the Pacific Theater.
He worked as a driver and salesman for Puget Sound Distributors in Bremerton from 1949 to 1982, and as a bus driver for the Federal Way School District for six years, retiring in 1997.
Mr. Walton was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars 2669 in Port Orchard.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Patti Bassen of Federal Way; three grandchildren, Dana Belcher of Port Orchard, Daren Bassen of Auburn and Dean Bassen of Federal Way; and six great-grandchildren.
A private service will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Memorial donations may be made to Group Health Hospice, Group Health Co-op, 521 Wall St., Seattle, WA 98121.

Dorothy Chase
Dorothy M. Chase, 67, of Bremerton died July 19, 1999, in Bremerton of cancer.
She was born July 8, 1932, in Kalamazoo, Mich., to William R. and Ella L. (Eagan) Garrod. She grew up in Lawrence, Mich., graduating from Lawrence High School in 1951.
She married Edward Chase on July 6, 1956, at the family home in Lawrence. He preceded her in death in 1986.
Mrs. Chase was a homemaker. She was a member of the West Side Baptist Church in Bremerton, the West Side Seniors Club, the West Side Improvement Club and was a past member of the Rhododendron Society.
Survivors include a son, Charles of Seattle; two daughters, Donna Nelson and Connie Chase, both of Bremerton; a brother, William Garrod of Lawrence; two sisters, Donna Avery of Hartford, Mich., and Helen Fuller of Lawrence; and a grandchild, Chris Nelson of Bremerton. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Derek Nelson, in 1994, and by two sisters, Mary Garrod in 1967 and Loretta J. Chase in 1994.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Aug. 14 at West Side Baptist Church. Inurnment will take place at Ivy Green cemetery in Bremerton. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Lloyd Wilkins
Former Bremerton resident Lloyd Arleigh Wilkins, 81, of Olympia died July 20, 1999, in Hoquiam.
He was born June 17, 1918, in Tacoma to Lloyd Lee and Dora Belle Wilkins. He grew up in Bremerton.
He married Barbara Ann Gibson in Bremerton in
May 1940. She preceded him in death in 1995.
Mr. Wilkins worked at the Bremerton Naval Ammunition Depot from 1941 to 1948 and owned and operated a service station from 1949 to 1972. He was employed by the Aberdeen Water Department from 1971 until his retirement in 1984.
He was a volunteer with the North Perry Volunteer Fire Department from 1948 to 1973.
Survivors include a son, John of Bremerton; a daughter, Carol Ann Howell of Elma; a brother, George of Clarkston; three sisters, Lois Williams of Port Orchard, Kathleen Vorhees of Lake Mason and Edna Madison of Silverdale; three grandchildren, Chris Howell of Minnesota, Cheryl Graf of Olalla and John Wilkins Jr. of Bremerton; and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Wishka Valley Community Church in Aberdeen. Inurnment will take place at Fern Hill cemetery in Aberdeen.
Memorial donations may be made to Wishka Valley Community Church, 4281 Wishka Road, Aberdeen, WA 98520.

Kate Bernardo
Kate Bennett Bernardo, 85, of Bremerton died July 18, 1999.
She was born Jan. 8, 1914, in Olongapo, Zambales, Philippines to Charles and Manuela (Cresini) Bennett. She grew up in the Philippines.
Survivors include two sons, Carlos Jr. and Bienvenido; four daughters, Ofelia, Lourdes, Minerva and Soledad; 25 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carlos Bernardo Sr., and a son, Pablo.
A funeral service took place Wednesday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Lester Burhoop
Lester Burhoop, 83, of Bremerton died July 20, 1999, at Vencore Hospital in Seattle.
He was born June 9, 1916, in Waco, Neb., to Gustav and Anna (Gallagher) Burhoop. He grew up in Nebraska.
He married Fern Ayers on June 15, 1954, in Reno, Nev. She preceded him in death July 16, 1997.
Mr. Burhoop served as a machinist's mate in the Navy during World War II. He was a Pearl Harbor survivor and participated in all the major battles in the Pacific.
Following the war, he worked as a machinist at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, retiring in 1972. He later worked at Harrison Hospital for 10 years.
Mr. Burhoop was a member of the Kaiser/Fraser Auto Club.
Survivors include a son, Charles of Bremerton; a stepson, John Mitchell of Poulsbo; a stepdaughter, LeeAnn Mitchell of Port Orchard; three sisters, Virginia Friesen, Grace Bondegard and Helen Tripplet, all of Nebraska; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be at noon Saturday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Burial will take place at Island Lake cemetery.

Bud Johnson
Former Bremerton resident Arvid Fillmore "Bud" Johnson, 80, of Arlington died July 5, 1999, at his home of natural causes.
He was born Feb. 14, 1919, in Bellingham to Truman Fred and Neva Lee (Lay) Johnson. He grew up in Bremerton, graduating from Bremerton High School.
He married Fay Hansen in 1942. She preceded him in death in 1976.
He married Dorothy Hulbert in 1980. She also preceded him in death in 1995.
Mr. Johnson enlisted in the Navy on Dec. 8, 1941, the day after the attack on Pearl Harbor. He served in Cold Bay, Alaska, and on Indian Island. He was selected for naval pilot training and was sent to Muhlenburg College in Pennsylvania.
After World War II, he served as a deputy sheriff in Kitsap County. He later moved to Seattle where he was Northwest manager for Arrow-Lifschultz Trans-Air Freight System. He retired in 1977.
Mr. Johnson was very supportive of veterans organizations throughout his life.
Survivors include two sisters, Mildred Peterson of Redding, Calif., and Edna Smith of Silverdale. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Allen, and by a sister, Shirley Gates.

Art Orejudos
Art Orejudos, 91, of Port Orchard died July 16, 1999, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Nov. 8, 1907, in Bacnotan, Launion, Philippines to Felix and Isabel (Dacanay) Orejudos.
He married Marion Lowenstein on May 31, 1947, in Tacoma. She preceded him in death in 1993.
Mr. Orejudos had worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and was a cook at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. He was employed for over 40 years with Pacific Fisheries Inc. in Petersburg, Alaska, retiring in 1984.
He had been vice president of the Filipino American Community, a member of the Port Orchard Eagles and was involved in the Caballeros De Dimas-Alang Gen. Tini No. 67.
Survivors include two sons, Lowell Daugherty of Silverdale and Leo Daugherty of Port Orchard; a daughter, Rita Matthews of Port Orchard; and four grandchildren, Todd and Sean Daugherty, both of Seattle, Casalee Taylor of Seabeck and Kamala Matthews of Port Orchard; and three great-grandchildren.
Private services will be held. Inurnment will take place at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
