Virginia Gold
Virginia Christine Gold, 62, of Bremerton died Oct. 1, 1999, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Nov. 12, 1936, in Yakima to Jacob Wilson and Ocella Christine (Petty) White. She was raised and educated in Bremerton, graduating with honors from Bremerton High School in 1956.
She married Donald Edward Gold of Tulsa, Okla., in Bremerton in 1956.
Mrs. Gold was a homemaker. She managed various fast food establishments earlier in her life.
Survivors include her mother; her husband; two daughters, Donna of Bremerton and Lisa of Tulsa; a sister, Barbra Jean White of Bremerton; and a granddaughter, Courtney Richelle Gold of Tulsa. She was preceded in death by her father and a sister, Betty Lou Caldwell.
A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. Friday at The Firs, 183 Russell Road in Bremerton, with a reception following. Cremation is under the direction of Tuell-McKee Funeral Home.

John Paul Jones III
Former Bremerton resident John Paul "J.P." Jones III, 51, who went on to a 28-year career in Olympia, died of conditions related to colon cancer Oct. 1, 1999, at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle.
He was born Oct. 16, 1947, in Bremerton to William and Lenora (Thayer) Jones.
From 1965 to 1969 he served in the Army as an intelligence analyst with a top-secret clearance. He served two years in Vietnam.
Mr. Jones earned an associate degree from Olympic College in 1971 and a bachelor's degree from The Evergreen State College in Olympia.
From 1974 to 1986, he served in a variety of staff positions with the state Senate in Olympia, including acting coordinator of the Democratic Caucus policy staff and senior analyst for the office of the majority leader.
Mr. Jones also was founding member and vice president of The Evergreen State College Alumni Association.
Since 1989, he had served as executive director of the Washington Refuse and Recycling Association, representing the state's solid-waste industry before the Legislature and the state Utilities and Transportation Commission.
Mr. Jones is survived by his wife, Jeanne M. Jones of Olympia; a daughter, Allison Lee Jones of Tempe, Ariz.; and a sister, Nora Prouse of Bremerton.
A memorial service will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Capitol Rotunda in Olympia. A reception will take place immediately after the memorial. Arrangements are under the direction of Mills & Mills Funeral Directors, Olympia.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Puget Sound Blood Center, 921 Terry Ave., Seattle, WA 98104-1256.

Anna Huebert
Anna M. Huebert, 81, of Port Orchard died of natural causes Oct. 3, 1999, at Ridgemont Terrace Assisted Living.
She was born Feb. 9, 1918, in Topeka, Kan., to John and Madglena (Lang) Kuhn. She grew up in Denver.
She married Henry D. Huebert on Jan. 24, 1937, in Fairplay, Colo. He preceded her in death in 1993.
Mrs. Huebert was a homemaker. She worked on the family dairy farm in Port Orchard.
She was a member of Kitsap Dairy Wives, the Long Lake Community Club and St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Port Orchard.
Survivors include two sons, Henry Jr. and Robert, both of Port Orchard; a daughter, Kathy Sandness of Wrangell, Alaska; a brother, Frank Kuhn of Lakewood, Colo.; two sisters, Helen Kuhn and Mary Nooning, both of Denver; seven grandchildren, David of Clatskanie, Ore., Susan Nelson of Neuman Lake, Jon of Silverdale and Michael, Kimberly Thompson, Lorinda Ludlow and Kristen, all of Port Orchard. She was preceded in death by three siblings.
Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel, followed by a rosary at 7 p.m. A Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Gabriel Catholic Church. Interment icon will take place at Haven of Rest Memorial Park in Gig Harbor.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Gabriel Catholic Church Pipe Organ Fund, 1150 Mitchell Ave., Port Orchard, WA 98366.

Mary More
Mary L. More, 83, of Bremerton died Oct. 3, 1999, at her daughter's home in Grapeview.
She was born Feb. 21, 1916, in Ellensburg to James F. and Emma R. (Brown) Shaw. She lived in Ellensburg until her teens, when her family moved to Gorst. She graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1934.
She married Robert T. More on Sept. 13, 1936, in Seattle. He preceded her in death in 1970.
She worked at Mark's Flowers from 1969 until her retirement in 1990. Previously, she had been a homemaker.
She was past president of the South Kitsap School Board and had been a member of Summit Avenue Presbyterian Church in Bremerton since 1956, serving the church as editor of its newsletter for 25 years, as an elder and deacon, as a Sunday school teacher and as a member and past president of the church's woman's association. She also had been a Girl Scout leader when her children were participating.
Survivors include a son, Jim of Bartlett, Tenn.; two daughters, Judy Mastick of Grapeview and Bobbi Baurick of Bremerton; seven grandchildren, Tristan Baurick of Olympia, Mike Honsowetz of Indiana, Scott Honsowetz of Port Orchard, Jennifer Nichols of Memphis, Tenn., Stephanie Burns of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Robert Ford and Ged Honsowetz, both of Bremerton; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Shaw of Ellensburg, in 1998.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday at Summit Avenue Presbyterian Church, followed by a memorial service at 4 p.m. Interment icon will take place at 2 p.m. Friday at the International Order of Odd Fellows cemetery in Ellensburg. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Ted Balter
Ted K. Balter, 72, of Bremerton died of heart disease Oct. 3, 1999, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Feb. 26, 1927, in Peabody, Kan., to Clarence E. and Mildred L. (Schulte) Balter. He grew up in Kamiah, Idaho, and in Kingston. He graduated from Kamiah High School in 1945 and attended Olympic College.
Mr. Balter served in the Army from 1946 to 1947. His military honors include a World War II Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal Japan.
He married Jean R. Balcom on July 31, 1954, in Silverdale.
Mr. Balter worked as a sheet metal mechanic at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 32 years, retiring in 1982. He also worked as a security guard during registration at Olympic College; as an instructor's assistant for mountaineering, backpacking and skiing at OC; as assistant director of the OC camp craft summer classes and trips; and as a ski instructor for Kitsap Northwest Ski School and Ski Masters of Bellevue at Snoqualmie Summit.
He was a member of Bremerton Cruisers Motorcycle Club, Olympic Mountain Rescue, a charter member of Evergreen Classic American Clipper Club, a member of West Side Baptist Church in Bremerton, a trustee and member of the Missions Committee at West Side Baptist Church and a five-year member of the choir at West Side Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Linda White of Olympia, Sally Coppinger of Port Orchard and Kimm Bryan of Ventura, Calif.; a brother, Richard of Silverdale; two sisters, Rosemary Burnett of Hoodsport and Alice Mickelberry of Memphis, Tenn.; and eight grandchildren, Andrea White of Seattle, Amanda White of Olympia, Caleb White of Chehalis, Emilie Bryan and Conor Bryan, both of Ventura, and Katie Coppinger, Levi Coppinger and Kyle Coppinger, all of Port Orchard.
A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. Saturday at West Side Baptist Church. Inurnment will take place at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Gloria Ehlert
Gloria E. Ehlert, 71, of Port Orchard died Oct. 3, 1999, at her home.
She was born May 8, 1928, in St. Paul, Minn., to Ivar and Agnes Vera (Schmidt) Green. She grew up in St. Paul.
She married Donald S. Ehlert on March 31, 1944, in St. Paul. He preceded her in death in 1994.
Mrs. Ehlert worked as a title clerk with Bremerton Area Chamber of Commerce for 12 years, retiring in 1985. Previously, she had been office manager at Thomas Motors in Bremerton from 1961 to 1973, and had been a caregiver for a number of years.
She was a member of the Sunnyslope Community Association.
Survivors include five sons, Robert of Allyn, Donald Jr. of Richland and William, Harold and Danny, all of Port Orchard; two brothers, Sonny and
Norman Green, both of St. Paul; a sister, Dorry Shulhatis of Fullerton, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Ivar, and four sisters, Margie, Lola, Virginia and Joanne.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. Interment icon will take place at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard following the service.

Audrey Freemantle
Audrey L. Freemantle, 77, of Bremerton died Oct. 5, 1999, at her home.
She was born June 14, 1922, in New London, Conn., to Iva McFee. She grew up in New London, graduating from high school there.
She married Frederick W. Freemantle on Aug. 12, 1944, in New York City.
She was a member of Bremerton Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Ted of Mill Creek and Larry of Olympia; two daughters, Helene Dietzman and Dianne, both of Bremerton; a brother, Richard McFee of New London; a sister, Beverly McFee of New London; six grandchildren, Scott Dietzman and Jason Dietzman, both of Bremerton, Drew of Lacey, Lori Flanagan of Tumwater, Kyle of Mill Creek and Angela of Seattle; and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is planned for 1:30 p.m. Friday at Bremerton Church of the Nazarene. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
Memorial donations may be made to Kitsap Humane Society, 9167 Dickey Road NW, Silverdale, WA 98383.

Linda Babich
Former Port Orchard resident Linda L. Babich, 51, of Federal Way died Sept. 26, 1999, at her home.
She was born Dec. 28, 1947, in Tacoma to Gisela and Thomas Patrick Power Jr. She graduated from high school in Europe.
She was employed as a legal secretary in the law offices of Holm, Mogren, Glessner and Roti in Renton.
Survivors include two sons, Dennis and Tony, both of California; three sisters, Betty Tamble of California, Vicktoria Keene of Salkum and Maggie Plush of Port Orchard; and a brother, Patrick Power of Purdy.
A memorial service is planned for 2:30 p.m. today at the Washington Veterans Home in Retsil.

Edward Hill III
Edward Sirlow Hill III, 59, of Port Orchard died Sept. 29, 1999, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Feb. 25, 1940, in Wilmington, Del., to Edward and Barbara (Drake) Hill.
He was raised in Wilmington, graduating from P.S. DuPont High School in 1957.
He served four years in the Navy, then attended college at Chico State in California and several other colleges, including Western Washington University in Bellingham.
Mr. Hill worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard as a systems analyst, retiring in 1997.
He is survived by his father, Edward S. Hill Jr. of Tucson, Ariz.; a daughter, Aubre Hill of Bellingham; and two brothers, Donald of Atlanta and Richard of Newark, Del.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Bremerton. Cremation will be at Cherry Grove Memorial Park in Poulsbo, with inurnment to be in Delaware.
