Frances Ojima
Frances Hisako Ojima, 83, of Bremerton died Nov. 13, 2000, in Seattle.
She was born Aug. 7, 1917, in Seattle.
Mrs. Ojima was relocated to the Minidoka, Idaho, internment camp during World War II.
She owned Soo Hoy Restaurant for 37 years, receiving a Community Service Award from Lt. Gov. John Cherberg, inducting Soo Hoy into the Washington Restaurant Hall of Fame.
She enjoyed gardening and the outdoors.
Survivors include three sons, David of Bremerton, Fred of Bellevue and Robert of Port Orchard; a brother, George Yamamoto of Port Orchard; a sister, Tomiko Ueno of Seattle; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry, in 1983.
A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. Saturday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Jack Brock
Jack Marion Brock, 49, of Port Orchard died of a heart attack Nov. 8, 2000, in Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii.
He was born March 27, 1951, in Bremerton to Lloyd and Clara (Moore) Brock. He graduated in 1969 from South Kitsap High School, in 1971 from Olympic College and attended Washington State University.
He married Terry Walberg on March 30, 1974, in Port Orchard.
Mr. Brock served in the Air Force from 1974 to 1980, achieving the rank of staff sergeant.
He was a marine machinist at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 20 years.
Mr. Brock enjoyed fishing and gardening. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Port Orchard.
Survivors include his wife; his mother of Port Orchard; two sons, Wayne of the family home and Ian of Port Orchard; a daughter, Brianna Carlson of Port Orchard; and a sister, Paula Walker of Port Orchard.
A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. Saturday at Bethany Lutheran Church.

Jeff Lillybridge
Jeff L. Lillybridge, 19, of Port Orchard died as a result of an automobile accident Nov. 11, 2000, in Port Orchard.
He was born Aug. 12, 1981, in Tacoma to Mark and Marla (Halvorson) Lillybridge. He graduated in 1999 from South Kitsap High School.
He was a landscaper with Austin Landscapes for more than a year.
He enjoyed sports and cars.
Survivors include his parents of Port Orchard; a brother, Justin, of Port Orchard; and his grandparents, Jim and Marilyn Lillybridge and Manley and Delores Halvorson, all of Port Orchard.
Visitation is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. A funeral service is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday at Rill Chapel. Interment icon will take place at Sunset Lane cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 4414 Woodland Park Ave. N., Seattle, WA 98103-7499.

Bill McLaren
William Melvin "Bill" McLaren, 68, of Bremerton died following an extended illness
Nov. 4, 2000, at his home.
He was born Dec. 27, 1931, in Portland, Ore., to William A. and Frances M. McLaren. He graduated in 1950 from Bremerton High School. He also graduated from Olympic College and the University of Washington.
He married Carolyn Mitchell on Dec. 17, 1955, in Bremerton.
Mr. McLaren served in the Air Force from 1950 to 1952. He later worked in a number of jobs that involved teaching and helping young people.
He had been a member of the Boy Scouts and a scout master, earning the Eagle Scout award with Bronze Palm. He had also been a YMCA camp director.
Mr. McLaren was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife.
At his request, there will be no service. Inurnment is under the direction of Miller Woodlawn Funeral Home.
Memorial donations may be made to Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 1015 Veneta Ave., Bremerton, WA 98337.

Kerry Highland
Kerry V. Highland, 41, of Port Orchard died of melanoma cancer Nov. 11, 2000, at Port Orchard Care Center.
He was born Feb. 6, 1959, in Bremerton to Howard and Patricia (Hathaway) Highland. He graduated in 1979 from South Kitsap High School.
He married Vicki A. Griffin on June 9, 1984, in Port Orchard.
Mr. Highland was a subcontractor for 12 years.
He enjoyed carpentry and gardening.
Survivors include his wife; his parents of Port Orchard; three sons, Kerry, Robert and Kevin, all of Port Orchard; a daughter, Wendy of Port Orchard; two brothers, Robert of Port Orchard and James of Aberdeen; and three sisters, Patricia Floyd and Judy Floyd, both of Port Orchard and Mary Chilton of Grapeview.
A graveside service is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Stephanie Cordall
Stephanie B. Cordall, 52, of Port Orchard died of ovarian cancer Nov. 12, 2000, at Swedish Hospital.
She was born March 13, 1948, in Tooele, Utah, to Daniel and Edna Bryson.
Survivors include her companion, Mike Carslund of Silverdale; her mother; two sons, James and Ryan; a daughter, Nicole; and four brothers, Lonnie, Charles, Michael and Jody; a sister, Margaret; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Tweten's Lighthouse restaurant in Port Orchard.
Memorial donations may be made in her name to any Key Bank branch for the Washington Veterans Home at Retsil or to the American Cancer Society, Ovarian Cancer Research, P.O. Box 2383, Bremerton, WA 98310.

Linda Hoyt
Linda Mae Hoyt, 55, of Bremerton died as a result of an automobile accident Nov. 8, 2000, in Bremerton.
She was born Jan. 9, 1945, in Tacoma to Robert and Hazel (Bottiger) Nickolet. She graduated from South Kitsap High School.
She worked at Myhre's Restaurant in Port Orchard for 12 years and was a guardian ad litem in Kitsap County for three months.
Ms. Hoyt was a rockhound.
She is survived by two sons, Danny and Merrill, both of Port Orchard; a daughter, Theia Hoyt of Port Orchard; a brother, Lyle Nicolet of Graham, Wash.; two sisters, Lenore Winton and Bobbie Eicher, both of Spanaway; and a grandson.
A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. Friday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. A reception will follow at the home of Danny Hoyt, 12029 William Heights Lane in Port Orchard.

Lora Gudbranson
Lora E. Gudbranson, 67, of Port Orchard died Nov. 11, 2000, at her home of pancreatic cancer.
She was born April 6, 1933, in Bellingham to Arlo and Louise Snider. She graduated from Helen Bush High School in Seattle in 1951, Cleveland State University in Cleveland in 1977, and Antioch College in Seattle in 1988.
She married Larry Gudbranson on Sept. 13, 1952, in Bellingham.
Mrs. Gudbranson was a physical therapist in Port Orchard and Silverdale for 22 years, retiring in 1999.
She was a member of the Port Orchard Yacht Club and enjoyed genealogy.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Brian of Bellingham; a daughter, Lory Haggerty of Gig Harbor; two brothers, Jack of Portland, Ore., and Howard of Mankato, Minn.; and one granddaughter.
A memorial service is planned for 3 p.m. Sunday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. A reception will follow at the Port Orchard Yacht Club.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Kitsap County, P.O. Box 3416, Silverdale, WA 98383-3416.

Velma Bell
Velma G. Bell, 98, of Silverdale died Nov. 10, 2000, at her home.
She was born June 27, 1902, in Smithfield, Mo., to Hugh and Henrietta (Hulbert) Briggs.
She married William Bell on Feb. 19, 1921, in Wallace, Idaho. He preceded her in death in 1976.
Mrs. Bell had worked at the Naval Ammunition Depot in Bremerton during World War II.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed watching sports, especially baseball.
Survivors include a daughter, Jeanette Jenks of Tiller, Ore.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Carole Belleci, in 1998.
At her request, there will be no services. Cremation will take place at Cherry Grove Crematory in Poulsbo. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Ann Finlay
Ann Finlay, 91, of Poulsbo died Nov. 11, 2000, at Harbor House of kidney failure.
She was born Jan. 23, 1909, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, to Hugh and Harriet (Baskerville) Blair.
She married Robert Finlay on Sept. 2, 1936, in Winnipeg. He preceded her in death in 1997.
Mrs. Finlay was a business school instructor and bookkeeper for 47 years, retiring in 1972.
She was a member of a Protestant church in Glendale, Calif., and Irish organizations in Manitoba and California.
Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Flagg of Bremerton; a grandson; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Friday at St. Antony's Episcopal Church in Silverdale. Arrangements are under the direction of Tuell-McKee Funeral Home.

Walter Blank
Walter P. Blank, 83, of Port Orchard died of natural causes Nov. 9, 2000, in Port Orchard.
He was born April 12, 1917, in Voezco, Germany, to Franz and Ida (Kleinschmidt) Blank.
On Aug. 7, 1943, he married Hilda Pront in Bunde, Germany.
Mr. Blank was a cabinet maker for the Anaheim, Calif., School District for 20 years, retiring in 1982.
He enjoyed watchmaking and fishing.
Survivors include his wife at the family home; a son, Hans of Trabuco Canyon, Calif.; two daughters, Margaret Perea of Anaheim and Eda Snodgrass of Port Orchard; a brother, Gunter of Langhagen, Germany; two sisters, Elli Rutsatz and Elfride Horn, both of Munster, Germany; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Hans.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Harper Evangelical Free Church in South Kitsap. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
