Ava McClintock
Ava Jean McClintock, 50, of Port Orchard died Sept. 5, 1998, of cancer.
She was born May 26, 1948, in Anchorage, Alaska, to Herbert C. and Catherine (Clark) McClintock.
She was raised in Port Orchard, graduating from South Kitsap High School in 1966, and Olympic Community College in 1969.
She made her living working for Naval Undersea Warfare Engineering Station in Keyport and the Fleet and Industrial Supply Center, Puget Sound, for a total of 30 years civil service.
She was a member of M.O.M.
Survivors include her parents; a daughter, Benicia of Port Orchard; three sisters, Paula of Port Orchard, Dale of Vacaville, Calif., and Gail Alagna of South Colby; and a brother, Gary of Redmond.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Sept. 11 at Rill Chapel.
Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Brian Rusk
Brian Rusk, 34, of Port Orchard died Sept. 6, 1998, at his home, of cancer.
He was born Jan. 2, 1965, in Seattle to Frank and Barbara (Bunge) Rusk.
He was raised on Vashon Island, graduating from Vashon High School in 1983.
Mr. Rusk served in the Air Force from 1983 to 1992. He achieved the rank of sergeant. He later made his living for eight years as a power plant operator.
Survivors include his parents; a brother, Jack of Seattle; a sister, Cheryl Bowen of Suquamish; and a paternal grandmother, LaVina Rusk of Port Orchard.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 11 with memorial services immediately following, both at Rill Chapel.
Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Memorials may be made to the Harrison Memorial Hospital Foundation with Cancer Care, 2520 Cherry Ave., Bremerton, WA 98310.

Henry Gardner
Henry Lewis Gardner, 62, of Payette, Idaho, died Aug. 20, 1998, at home of a heart attack.
He was born Nov. 20, 1935, in Gordon, Neb., to William and Grace (Parks) Gardner. He was raised in Oregon City, Ore.
Mr. Gardner served in the Navy from 1955 to 1961.
On Nov. 29, 1959, he married Marie Ellen Parks in Edgemont, S.D.
Mr. Gardner worked for the Army Depot as a welder on the railroads in Igloo, S.D., from 1961 to 1965 and at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard as a welder in shop 26 from 1965 to 1990. He also worked four years for West Wind Orchards near Ontario, Ore.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, twins Connie and Kristi, both of Payette, and Shirley White and Debbie Eklof, both of Bremerton; three brothers, Charles and Jerry of Shoshone, Idaho, and Earl of Glenns Ferry, Idaho; sisters, Mildred Closson of Ontario, Ore., and Maxine Burke of Rogers, Ark.; and eight grandchildren, Talia, Cheree and Robert White Jr. and Lindsay and Joel Eklof, all of Bremerton, and Ashley Gardner and Christopher and Autumn Russell, all of Payette. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Cecil and Richard, and a sister, Anna.
Services were held in August.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Gardner family c/o Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, P.O. Box 730, Payette, ID 83661.

Leita Pruitt
Leita Irene Pruitt, 69, of Belfair died Sept. 7, 1998, in Bremerton.
She was born Aug. 3, 1929, in Ketchikan, Alaska, to Gilbert and Beatrice (Mackie) Vanborg. She was raised and educated in Alaska.
Mrs. Pruitt was a volunteer dispatcher for the Mason County Sheriff's Office for many years and also was an employee for the North Mason School District Lunch Program as well as the Belfair Valley Nursery.
She was a 12-year member of the Wednesday night pinochle group.
Survivors include three sons, James of Chehalis and Mike and Steven, both of Belfair; a daughter, Sandi Miller of Belfair; a brother, Bert Vanborg of McGrath, Alaska; eight grandchildren, Frederick Alan Pruitt of Molalla, Ore., Terry Pruitt of Chehalis, Glenn, Davin and Kyle Miller, all of Belfair, Mathew and Ryan Pruitt, both of Belfair, and Jessica Pruitt of Port Orchard; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick A. Pruitt.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon at Lewis Funeral Chapel with funeral services following at 1 p.m., also at Lewis Funeral Chapel. There will be a committal service following at Forest Lawn cemetery, Bremerton.
Memorials may be made to Olympic Peninsula Kidney Center, 2740 Clare Ave., Bremerton, WA 98310.

Dorothy M. Larsen
Dorothy M. Larsen, 88, of Southworth died Sept. 4, 1998, at Ridgemont Terrace Convalescent Center in Port Orchard.
She was born March 19, 1910, in Seattle to William and Bessie (Sanders) Harrison.
In 1983, she married Arthur Larsen in Bremerton.
She retired from the city of Bremerton in 1970 after 20 years.
She was the Past Worthy Matron of the Olympic chapter of Eastern Star, and also was a member of Amaranth, where she was Past Grand Royal Matron of the State of Washington and Past Royal Matron of the Bremerton Court.
Survivors include her husband; four daughters, Barbara Springer of Homer, Alaska, Betty Breeding of Anchorage, Alaska, Alice Matz of Covington, and Marilyn Tuttle of Craig, Alaska; a brother, Melvin Harrison of Friday Harbor; two sisters, Lorraine Hansen and Neoma Duford, both of Seattle; 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Her first husband, Scott Meacham, died in 1982.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Sept. 9 at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard with interment at Greenwood cemetery in Renton.
Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Keith L. Beaver
Keith L. Beaver, 83, of Port Orchard died Sept. 5, 1998, at his home.
He was born March 1, 1915, in Clark's Ridge, Ark., and was raised in Mountain Home, Ark., and Harper, Kan.
On April 19, 1975, he married R. Aline (Owens/Head) in Fairbanks, Alaska.
He retired from the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard after 28 years. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie #2338, in Port Orchard.
He is survived by his wife; six sons, Darrell Beaver of Everett, Leon Beaver of Port Orchard, Larry Beaver of Bremerton, Gerrald Head of Port Orchard, Larry Head of Charlotte, Vt., and Kenneth Head of Fairbanks, Alaska; a brother, Harold of Orangevale, Calif.; two sisters, Florence Weiland of Aberdeen and Ruby Smith of Olalla; seven grandchildren, Scott and Sarah Beaver of Everett, Linda Head of Seabeck, Ruth Vinegar of Bremerton, George Head of Port Orchard, and Thad, Anna, Benjamin and Emily Balivet of Charlotte, Vt.; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sept. 10 at Rill Chapel. Interment icon will be at Sunset Lane cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Dona Kaufman
Dona Wilma Kaufman, 62, of Bremerton died Sept. 2, 1998, of cancer.
She was born March 24, 1936, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho to Charles and Minerva (Dionne) Blumberg. She was raised in Bremerton.
On July 12, 1953, she married Lawrence Kaufman in Las Vegas, Nev. He preceded her in death in 1978.
Survivors include four sons, Lawrence of Oak Hills, Calif., Robin of Belfair, Marty of Bremerton and David of Union; three daughters, Laurie Brassfield of Bullhead City, Ariz., Diana Couch and Karen Crookshank, both of Bremerton; a sister, Caroline Hall of Stanton, Calif.; 15 grandchildren, Melanie, Danny, Michael, Angela, Amanda, Kenny, Sheena, Wendy, Charlee, Bradley, Jennifer Dona, Kayla, Cheleace, Brandon and Lisa; and five great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Munson and Donald.
Memorial services will be at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 4 at 1212 Veneta, Bremerton.

Esther Spence
Esther Mae Spence, 84, of Poulsbo died Sept. 1, 1998, on Bainbridge Island.
She was born April 26, 1914, in Mukilteo to Edward and Stella (Herren) Wilson. She graduated from Mary M. Knight High School in Matlock in 1932.
On Aug. 10, 1946, she married Clifford C. Spence in Everett. He preceded her in death in 1988.
Mrs. Spence was a homemaker. She was also a member of the North Kitsap Baptist Church, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Past Royal Matron of Agate Court Order of Amaranth, and Past Matron and Past Deputy Instructor of Priscilla Chapter Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include a stepson, Robert of Port Arthur, Texas; two daughters, Wanda Stanley of Bainbridge Island and Helen DuBois of San Diego, Calif.; a brother, Joseph MacRae of Vancouver, Wash.; three sisters, Edith Baudry of Edmonds, Ruth Smith of Snohomish and Violet Ziebell of Oregon; six grandchildren, Gail Nakata and Ted Stanley, both of Bainbridge Island, Paula Stanley of Seattle, Patricia Perez of Edmonds and Nicole and Michael Currie, both of San Diego; a stepgranddaughter, Mary Kile of Bremerton; and numerous great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Bernard Homan in 1940, and a stepson, William Spence, in 1987.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Sept. 12 at North Kitsap Baptist Church.
Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home and Memorial Park.

J.A. Cominetti
J. A. "Tony" Cominetti, 93, of Poulsbo died Sept. 1, 1998, in Bremerton.
He was born May 1, 1905, in Jersey City, N.J., to Pasquale Cominetti and Faustina Monteleoni. He was raised in Vancouver, British Columbia.
In November of 1967, he married Margaret Bolan.
Mr. Cominetti worked for 15 years with Prudential NW Real Estate in Poulsbo. He retired in 1989 at the age of 85 with more than 40 years in real estate.
He was a member of the University Masonic Lodge No. 83, the Scottish Rite and the Nile Temple, all in Seattle.
Survivors include his wife; a son, William Simonton of Poulsbo; a daughter, Catherine Simonton of Seattle; three brothers, Dominic of Vancouver, British Columbia, Albert of Edmonds and Frank of San Diego, Calif.; two sisters, Charlene Gullback of Vancouver, British Columbia, and Francis Marxsen of Seattle; four grandchildren, William Simonton and Michele Simonton, both of Poulsbo, Won Jac Simonton of Austin, Texas, and Jin Kyong Simonton of San Antonio, Texas; and one great-grandchild.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Sept. 5 at the Cedar Glen Club House, 16300 State Hwy. 305, Poulsbo.
Arrangements are under the direction of Poulsbo Mortuary, "The Stone Chapel".
