Jack Stevenson
Laddie "Jack" John Stevenson, 80, formerly of Port Orchard, died Aug. 1, 2001, at Valley Medical Center in Renton.
He was born Oct. 17 1920, in Port Orchard to William and Jennie (Young) Stevenson.
He attended South Kitsap High School and went on to graduate from Central Washington University in Ellensburg.
He joined the U.S. Army on Sept. 16, 1942, and remained in service until Feb. 4, 1946. He attained the rank of Tec 4.
Mr. Stevenson was a school teacher in Renton and for the King County Senior Program.
He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge 145 in Bremerton.
He also was a deacon at Calvary Baptist Church in Renton.
He is survived by a sister, Agnes Taylor of Bremerton; and a niece, Patricia Bilden also of Bremerton.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Calvary Baptist Church.
He will be inurned in Port Orchard. Arrangements are under the direction of Greenwood Funeral Home.

Jacqueline Love
Jacqueline Love, 78, of Bremerton died Aug. 3, 2001 at Harrison Hospital.
She was born April 16, 1923, in Bismark, N.D.
She married James Love, who preceded her in death in 1986.
Mrs. Love worked for the Bremerton School District for 29 years before retiring in 1991.
Her hobbies included collecting antiques and gardening.
Mrs. Love is survived by two daughters, Karen Love of Bremerton and Betty Pruss of The Woodlands, Texas; and a brother, Roy Haas of Escondido, Calif.
A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Miller-Woodlawn.
Memorial donations can be made to Kitsap Humane Society, 9167 Dickey Road, Silverdale, WA 98383.

Joshua Ahart
Joshua Adam Ahart, 18, of Bremerton died following an automobile accident July 30, 2001, in Port Orchard.
He was born Nov. 15, 1982, in Bremerton to John and Becky Ahart Jr. He would have graduated from Olympic High School in 2002.
He enjoyed installing car stereos and taking care of his niece, Marie.
Survivors include his parents; three brothers, John, Jeremy and Joseph, all of Bremerton; two sisters, Rhoda and Carrie, both of Bremerton; and his grandparents, Carrie Dunkle and Harold Dunkle, both of Bremerton, and John Ahart Sr. of Grafton, Ohio.
Visitation will be at 3 p.m. today at Lewis Funeral Chapel with a memorial service following.
Memorial donations may be made to a memorial fund for Joshua Ahart at Kitsap Community Federal Credit Union.

James Willey Jr.
James W. Willey Jr., 68, of Port Orchard died of heart failure July 20, 2001, at his home.
He was born Nov. 17, 1932, in Bridger, Mont., to James and Penelope (Barr) Willey Sr. He graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1953 and attended Olympic College.
Mr. Willey served in the Army from 1952 to 1955, achieving the rank of private first class.
He worked as a shipfitter at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 37 years, retiring in 1988.
Mr. Willey loved nature and had a wide variety of interests.
Survivors include three daughters; Linda Willey of West Virginia, and Janice Thompson and Karen Oldham, both of Port Orchard; two brothers, Larry of Oregon and Charles of Everett; two sisters, Mabel Will of Olympia and Helen Pedrick of Kansas; and 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Burman; a brother, Byron; and a stepdaughter, Jeanne Bell.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Aug. 11 at South Colby United Methodist Church.

Ted Cobb
Former Port Orchard resident Forest "Ted" Cobb, 68, of Hemet, Calif., died July 6, 2001, of pulmonary arrest at Hemet Valley Medical Center.
He was born July 15, 1932, in Queens, N.Y., to Forest and Esther (Hill-Robbins) Cobb.
From 1949 to 1981, he served in the Navy, the Army and the Naval Fleet Reserve. He achieved the rank of lieutenant while serving in the Navy.
For the past 20 years, he worked as a nuclear electrical engineer at various nuclear power plants.
He was a member of Elks Lodge 1740 and Masonic Lodge 615.
Survivors include his former wife, Loa Ryan of Silverdale; a son, Randall of Prince Rupert, British Columbia; a daughter, Teresa Ryan of Silverdale; his mother of Venice, Fla.; three brothers, Jake Barter of Hemet, Paul Cobb of Maine and Chester Cobb of New Hampshire; a sister, Terry Gaudet of Nokomis, Fla.; and two grandchildren.
Services were held July 18 at Riverside National cemetery in California.
Memorial donations may be made to Elks Lodge 1740, 1305 W Florida Ave., Hemet, CA 92543.

Mona Payne
Mona L. Payne, 81, of Port Orchard died July 29, 2001, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born July 18, 1920, in Seattle to Alfred and Carla Pederson. She graduated from high school in Seattle and received a degree in nursing from the University of Washington in Seattle.
She was a registered nurse for many years at Harrison Hospital. She also had been employed as a bartender in Kitsap County for 32 years. She was retired.
She enjoyed crocheting.
She was a member of the Lutheran church and a past member of the Eagles in Port Orchard.
Her survivors include a daughter, Mary Patterson of Port Orchard; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Melvin Lee Payne Jr.
A private family gathering in Hansville is planned. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, Kitsap Unit, P.O. Box 2383, Bremerton, WA 98310 or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Loyd Bryant
Loyd C. Bryant, 74, of Bremerton died Aug. 2, 2001, in Bremerton.
He was born Dec. 7, 1926, in Parkin, Ark., to Eddie and Gladys (Ligon) Bryant. He attended high school in Parkin.
He married Myrna Shipley on Nov. 10, 1952, in Bremerton.
Mr. Bryant served in the Navy from 1944 to 1965, achieving the rank of damage controlman second class. He was awarded a Bronze Star and the World War II Victory Medal.
Following his naval career, Mr. Bryant worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard as a shipwright, retiring in 1981. His years in the Navy and with PSNS totaled 37 years in civil service.
Mr. Bryant was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Fleet Reserve Association.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, James of Bremerton, Blair of Kent and Dennis of Gresham, Ore.; a daughter, Deborah Gage of Amarillo, Texas; a brother, E. Jackson of Harold, Calif.; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother,
V.H. Bryant and a sister, Juanita Addington.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Tahoma National cemetery in Kent. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Bud Journey
Ewing William "Bud" Journey, 79, of Port Ludlow died July 30, 2001, at his home.
He was born Dec. 31, 1921, in Ancon, Panama (the Canal Zone), to Ewing and Marion (Kenny) Journey.
He married Harriet Johnson on Dec. 31, 1953, in Juzgado, Panama.
Mr. Journey served in the Navy during World War II. After the war, he returned to Panama, helping to establish the shrimp fishing, processing and shipping industry.
He later owned Journey Heating on Bainbridge Island for 32 years. He retired in 1986.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Andy of St. Mary's, Alaska, and Hays of Poulsbo; a daughter, Molly Sullivan of Atlanta; and
11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lucille Davis.
No services are planned. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Kosec Funeral Home in Port Townsend.

David Jones Jr.
Former Bremerton resident David Jones Jr., 80, of Fairfield, Calif., died July 27, 2001, at his home.
He was born Feb. 2, 1921, in Milford, Utah, to David and Suzie May Johnson.
Mr. Jones served in the Navy during World War II as an aircraft weapons instructor.
He worked as a chief planner and estimator at the Mare Island Naval Shipyard in Vallejo, Calif., and at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for a total of 34 years. He also owned Davey Jones Consulting Firm for 10 years.
Mr. Jones enjoyed golf and boating. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn (Nelson) Jones; two sons, Curtis of Silverton, Ore. and Brent of Salem, Ore.; a brother, Guy of Elkridge, Utah; two sisters, Corrine Hathaway of Santa Maria, Calif., and Barbara Forsyth of Lebanon, Ore.; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elsie, and a son, Michael.
A funeral service was held Wednesday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Fairfield, with interment at Lehi cemetery in Lehi, Utah. Arrangements are under the direction of Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.
Memorial donations may be made to Kaiser Hospice Program, 975 Sereno Drive, Vallejo, CA 94589.
