Caroline Timm
Caroline S. Timm, 85, of Bremerton died Dec. 27, 2001, at Belmont Terrace Convalescent Center.
She was born Aug. 8, 1916, in Aneta, N.D., to Arthur and Bertha (Aspen) Sundquist. She graduated in 1934 from Aneta High School. She also graduated from nursing school in North Dakota.
She married Alvin Timm in 1948 in Bremerton. He preceded her in death in 1993.
Mrs. Timm was a nurse at Harrison Hospital, retiring in 1977.
She was a member of the Sons of Norway and the Paws & Taws Square Dance Club.
Survivors include a son, Alvin Jr. of Bremerton; three daughters, Beverly Christiansen of Bremerton, Mary Williams of Gig Harbor and Alice Timm of Seattle; two brothers, Norman Sundquist of Auburn and Robert Sundquist of Seattle; two sisters, Thelma Grossman of San Francisco, Calif., and Joanne Sundquist of Renton; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Lincoln Avenue Bible Church, 1250 Lincoln Ave., in Bremerton. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel with cremation at Cherry Grove Crematory in Poulsbo and inurnment at Forest Lawn cemetery in Bremerton.

Rian Schwarberg
Rian Cristofer Schwarberg, infant son of Ruth Schwarberg of Olalla, died on the day of his birth, Dec. 28, 2001, at Tacoma General Hospital.
He is survived by his mother, and his grandmother, Myra Hess of Olalla.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Haven of Rest Memorial Park in Gig Harbor.

Oscar Swope
Oscar L. Swope, 91, of Centralia died Dec. 21, 2001, of pneumonia at Providence Hospital in Centralia. He was a former resident of both Bremerton and Silverdale.
He was born Oct. 7, 1910, in Mount Vernon, Ark., to William and Mary (Casteel) Swope. He was educated in Colville.
He married Melba Fleming on April 9, 1934, in St. Maries, Idaho. She preceded him in death in 1990.
Mr. Swope served in the Army from 1943 to 1945 in the 1637th Engineering Battalion as a motor vehicle operator, technician fifth grade.
He worked at an early age in the woods in Idaho and throughout the years owned a grocery store in Bremerton and a tavern in Moclips. He also owned heavy equipment used in road building. He retired in 1972.
Mr. Swope was a Mason, a member of Steadfast Lodge 216 and of the Philathea Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
In retirement, he enjoyed traveling, fishing and spending time with friends and family.
Survivors include one daughter, Danielle Chapple of Poulsbo; one grandson, David Chapple of Missoula, Mont.; one granddaughter, Kristin Carr of Renton; and one great-granddaughter, Kayla Chapple of Missoula. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill of Colville and Everett of Post Falls, Idaho.
A celebration of his life will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the home of Danielle Chapple. Inurnment will be at Forest Lawn cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to American Diabetes Association, 557 Roy St. Suite L1, Seattle, WA 98109.

Velma Dayton
Velma M. Dayton, 92, of Port Orchard died Dec. 16, 2001, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Oct. 28, 1909, in Kansas City, Mo., to Frank and Mattie (Dawson) McKenzie.
She had been an artist throughout her life.
She is survived by one daughter, Patricia Mulhausen of Tigard, Ore.; and two grandchildren.
Services are private with inurnment at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Wilhelmina Jefferson
Wilhelmina Marie Jefferson, 77, of Bremerton died of cancer Dec. 28, 2001, at her home.
She was born Nov. 21, 1924, in Hilo, Hawaii, to Jacob and Josephine Keliiaua (Pa) Victor. She graduated in 1944 from Hilo High School.
She married Richard F. Jefferson on Aug. 9, 1947, in Honolulu.
Mrs. Jefferson was a housekeeper for the Seabeck Conference Center.
She enjoyed working with young people and was a two-time winner of the Central Kitsap School District's Golden Acorn Award. She was a member of Chico Alliance Church in Bremerton.
Survivors include her husband; one son, George of Bremerton; two daughters, Helen Metta and her husband, Rod, of Fleming, N.J., and Joyce Chambers and her husband, David, of Lake Stevens; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a son, Paul.
A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Chico Alliance Church, 3670 Chico Way NW. Inurnment will be held later. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Wayne Wineman
K. Wayne Wineman, 66, of Belfair died from complications of diabetes Dec. 30, 2001, in Bremerton.
He was born April 2, 1935, in Oak Harbor to Kenneth and Gertrude (Bradstad) Wineman. He graduated from West Seattle High School in the early 1950s.
Mr. Wineman served in the Coast Guard for three years in the early 1950s.
He later was a truck driver with Burlington Northern Railroad in Tukwila for 25 years, retiring in 1990.
He enjoyed fishing and boating.
Survivors include his companion, Von Borders of Belfair; his mother, Gertrude Wineman of Federal Way; three sons, Jim, Jerry and Mike, all of Seattle; his sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Larry Cornish of Federal Way; four grandchildren; and his companion's daughter, Stacy Makar. He was preceded in death by his father.
Services are pending.

Beulah Hanson
Beulah Edna Hanson, 80, of Poulsbo died Dec. 29, 2001, at Harbor House in Poulsbo.
She was born Nov. 2, 1921, in Seattle to Edward and Borghild Wall.
She married Jack Hanson on Feb. 8, 1941. He preceded her in death in 1984.
Mrs. Hanson enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She also was interested in antiques.
Survivors include two sons, Leroy and Don, both of Poulsbo; two daughters, Barbara Martin of Bremerton and Phyllis Diehl of Poulsbo; two sisters, Doris Holden of Poulsbo and Esther Slayton of Seattle; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Wall, and a sister, Florence Swanson.
At her request, no service is planned. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Virgie Marvin
Former Bremerton resident Virgie Lera Marvin, 96, of Milwaukie, Ore., died Jan. 1, 2002, in Milwaukie.
She was born April 20, 1905, in Jack County, Texas, to John Allen and Allie Thompson.
She married William Marvin in 1929. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Marvin was a homemaker.
Survivors include a daughter, Sandy Pember; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home. Interment icon will be at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Robert Lawrence
Robert Edward Lawrence, 67, died Dec. 29, 2001, at his Poulsbo residence.
He was born May 10, 1934, in St. Maries, Idaho, to William and Dorothy (Aikman) Lawrence. He graduated in 1952 from Bremerton High School and attended college for two years.
Mr. Lawrence served in the Army.
He and his father owned Lawrence and Sons Construction Co.
He enjoyed woodworking and the time he spent outdoors as a fishing guide.
Survivors include his companion, Jane Grover of Poulsbo; one son, William of Poulsbo; one daughter, Bobbie Franklin of Camby, Ore.; one sister, Billie Paine of Lakeland, Fla.; and two grandchildren.
At the family's request, no service is planned.
Arrangements are under the direction of Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel, with cremation at Cherry Grove Crematory.

Margaret Scully
Margaret Susan Scully, 84, died Dec. 30 at her Port Orchard home.
She was born June 1, 1917 in Double Springs, Ala. to William and Mary (Downs) Marable.
She married Frances Gerald Scully in January 1941 on Staten Island, N.Y. He preceded her in death in 1989.
She graduated from Double Springs High School and Peninsula College of Port Angeles with a nursing degree.
She was a beautician in Traverse City, Mich., and was a licensed practical nurse at Olympic Memorial Hospital and Tacoma General Hospital until her 1983 retirement.
She was active in a Port Orchard senior citizens group and was an avid quilter.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia M. Sawyer of Milford, Mich. and Margaret Pennington of Fresno; two brothers, Ellis Marable of Knoxville and Leon Marable of Indiana; one sister, Nell Marable of Knoxville; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. today. The rosary service will be at 9 a.m. Thursday followed by a funeral at 11 a.m.
Arrangements are by Pendleton-Gilchrist at Rill Chapel.

Dorothy Fischer
Port Orchard resident Dorothy M. Fischer, 84, died of natural causes Dec. 30, 2001, in Bremerton.
She was born in Portland, Ore., on Oct. 29, 1917, to Isaac and Ruby (Lytle) Thomas. She was a high school graduate.
She married Eugene Fischer on April 17, 1985, in Reno, Nev.
She owned the Hi Tides in Port Orchard for 18 years, retiring in 1985.
She enjoyed crocheting and was a member of the Port Orchard VFW Auxiliary. She was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Port Orchard.
Mrs. Fischer is survived by her husband; a son, Bill Quinn of Port Orchard; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard. Interment icon will be at Sunset Lane cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
