Aadrun Anderson
Aadrun Bernice Anderson, 86, of Port Orchard died Feb. 27, 2002, at Tacoma General Hospital of a massive stroke.
She was born Dec. 6, 1915, in Tacoma to Paul and Ruth (Wright) Solberg.
She married Donald G. Oass in Oakland, Calif., in 1936. He preceded her in death.
She married Lloyd J. Anderson on April 7, 1956. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Anderson worked in office administration with Rhodes Department Store and Prudential Life Insurance.
She also volunteered with the Red Cross and several presidential campaigns. She enjoyed travel, gardening, cooking, birdwatching, needlepoint, reading, camping and fishing.
Survivors include a son, Gene Brent of Los Angeles; three daughters, Donna A. Anderson of Auburn, Susan I. Vergason of Port Orchard, and Karen R. Tamborski of Petaluma, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are by Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 4414 Woodland Park Ave. N, Seattle, WA 98103.

B.J. Mitchell
Bobbee Jo "B.J." Mitchell, 60, of Port Orchard died of cancer March 3, 2002, in Port Orchard.
She was born Sept. 8, 1941, in Port Orchard to Alvin and Eloise (Christy) Jess.
She married George E. Mitchell on July 2, 1980, in Reno, Nev.
Mrs. Mitchell worked as a nurse for 15 years, retiring in 1980. She was a member of the Kitsap County Shrine Club.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Scott Mitchell and his wife, Liz, of Bothell, Gary Mitchell and his wife, Mary, of Seattle and Michael Mitchell and his wife, Mary Ruth, of Lawton, Mich.; two daughters, Kellee Matlock and her husband, Nathan, of Port Orchard and Roxie Harrison of Bremerton; a brother, Don Jess of Arizona; a sister, Patty Goodwin and her husband, Dave, of Hartline, Wash.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and a family friend, Sandy McMurray of Seattle. She was preceded in death by her parents and by a brother, John Jess.

Roger Rein
Roger Allen Rein, 71, of Port Orchard, formerly of Exeland, Wis., died Feb. 23, 2002, at the home of his son, Richard Rein, in Port Orchard.
He was born April 17, 1930, in Soldiers Grove, Wis., to Justin and Ingabor (Olson) Rein.
Survivors include children from his first marriage to Marjorie Wheelock Rein: two daughters Vickie Dearhamer and her husband, Jack of Radisson, Wis., and Jodie Taylor of Beloit; two sons, Gerald Rein and his wife, Jodie, of Ojibwa, Wis., and Richard Rein of Port Orchard; his wife, Marilyn Rein and son, Carl Rein, both of Beloit; two brothers, James Rein and his wife, Doris, of Beloit and Robert Rein and his wife, Rusty, of Watertown, Wis.; a sister, Nadine Dueffert and her husband, Floyd, of Shakopee, Minn.; 16 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son from his former marriage, Daniel Ray Rein.
Services are pending in Soldiers Grove.

'Dee' Paul
Dolores "Dee" Paul, 64, of Lakebay died Feb. 24, 2002, at the University of Washington Medical Center.
She was born Sept. 29, 1937, in Martinez, Calif., to William and Nesta (Cadwell) Clark.
She married James E. Paul, Sr. on May 5, 1952. He died in 1986.
Mrs. Paul worked as a bus driver with the Peninsula School District for 23 years. She retired in 1992 for medical reasons.
She enjoyed traveling, cooking, quilting, card games with her family, crossword puzzles and her cat, Jordy. She was a member of Key Peninsula Lutheran Church and Take Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS) in Vaughn.
Survivors include her stepmother, Flossie Clark of Holly; a son, James E. Paul J, . of Lakebay; four daughters, Carol Bischoff and her husband David of Lakebay; Debbie Holmes and her husband Ken of Bremerton; Lori McPhee and her husband Russ of Gig Harbor; and Terrie Paul of Pahrump, Nev.; two brothers, Roland "Bob" Clark, and his wife, Nancy; and William "Jerry" Clark and his wife Jaew, all of Tacoma; two sisters Kathy Barrett of Phoenix, Ariz., and Charlie Hooper of Tacoma; a stepbrother Leroy Bowman and his wife Dorothy, of Gig Harbor; a stepsister, Diana Tait of Holly; 10 grandchildren, Jennifer and Jeff Bischoff, Mariah Holmes, Martina Paul, William and Malyssa Dumbaugh, Jason Summers-Paul and Elisabeth, Sierra and Jacob Frye; a nephew, Eric Clark, of Tacoma; and a large extended family. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Cheryl Paul.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Key Peninsula Lutheran Church, 4231 Lackey Road in Lakebay.

Harold Duryea
Harold Raymond Duryea, 83, of Bremerton died March 1, 2002, at Belmont Terrace Convalescent Center in Bremerton.
He was born April 28, 1918, in Lexington, Neb., to Raymond and Bertine (Smith) Duryea. He graduated from Lexington High School in 1935.
Mr. Duryea served in the Navy from 1936 until 1940, participating in the search for flyer Amelia Earhart while aboard the USS Colorado.
In March 1940, he settled in Bremerton and started his career at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. He worked there as a sheetmetal mechanic and a design division engineering technician, retiring in 1973 with 37 years of federal service.
On January 14, 1942, he married Loretta Gabriel Bly.
Mr. Duryea enjoyed land speculation (a road off the Seabeck Highway was named after him), farming, raising cattle and dairying on his farm in Lewis County near Ethel.
Survivors include his wife; six sons, Gary and Ronald, both of Ethel, Brent and Roger, both of Silverdale, and Robert and Paul, both of Bremerton; a daughter, Joan Marie White of Tracyton; three sisters, Marjorie Christensen of Long Beach, Calif., JoAnne Slobodney of Escondido, Calif., and Catherine Reader of North Platte, Neb.; 23 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a son, John Michael Duryea, in 1972, and by two sisters, Dorothy Jones and Lavere Sieg.
A memorial Mass of celebration will be at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Bremerton at 11 a.m. Thursday, preceded by a rosary at 10:30 a.m. A reception follows in Camerman Hall. Private family inurnment will be at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic School.

Helen Lee
Helen Willadene Lee, 80, of Bremerton died Feb. 28, 2002, at Forest Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born April 28, 1921, in Garden City, Mo., to David Emery Schrock and Pearl Mae Kauffman. She graduated from Garden City High School.
She married Elvin Lee on Nov. 18, 1951.
Mrs. Lee worked for 14 years as a proofreader with The Sun. She retired in the late 1980s.
She enjoyed knitting and sewing.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, David and his wife Carole of Seattle, and John and his wife Kathy of Lancaster, Calif.; a daughter, Julie Carter and her husband Gary of Port Orchard; a sister, Zella Staley, of Garden City; and 10 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four sisters.
Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at Lewis Funeral Chapel, followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. Wednesday. A committal service at Forest Lawn cemetery follows the service.
Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association 12721 30th Ave. NE, Suite 101, Seattle, WA 98125.

Katharina Hart
Katharina Elisabeth Hart, 79, of Port Ludlow died of cancer Feb. 27, 2002, at her home.
She was born Aug. 20, 1922, in Alsfeld-Hessen, Germany, to Andreas and Anna Elizabetha Reinhardt.
She married Frank L. Hart on April 26, 1953, in Bremerton.
Survivors include her husband; a cousin, Gertrud Hermann, her husband, Rudi, and their daughters, Bettina and Barbara Hermann, all of Germany; and other German relatives.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Sandy Sugzda
Former Bremerton resident Alexander "Sandy" Sugzda, 62, of Tucson, Ariz., died Feb. 19, 2002, at the Veterans Administration hospital in Tucson of heart disease.
Mr. Sugzda served three tours of duty in Vietnam before retiring from the Army.
He enjoyed golf and was affiliated with the Ladies Professional Golf Association, serving as a caddie and traveling extensively with the organization.
He is survived by his mother, Anna Stanis Sugzda; a son, Kenneth Sugzda; three daughters, Barbara Jean D'Amato of New Jersey, Patricia Mutek and Amy Winter, both of Washington; a brother, John Sugzda of New Jersey; two sisters, Patricia Heyer of Massachusetts and Linda Jarvis of North Carolina; eight grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and dear friends associated with the LPGA.
A private memorial celebration will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Junior Golf Association of America.

Earl Green
Former Port Orchard resident Earl Leo Green, 67, of Fredericktown, Mo., died Feb. 26, 2002, at Madison Medical Center in Fredericktown.
He was born April 10, 1934, in Mine LaMotte, Mo., to Rufus and Naomi (Smith) Green.
Mr. Green served in the Air Force from 1954 to 1955. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal.
He had been self-employed as an electrical contractor in the Seattle area. He was a member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Eagles.
Survivors include his companion, Pat Jones of Fredericktown; a son, Keith Green of Port Orchard; two daughters, Michele Olsen of Spokane and Barbara Powelson of Safford, Ariz.; two brothers, Donald Green of Bismarck, Mo., and Edward Green of Oak Grove, Mo.; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. today at Huffman-Wilson Funeral Home in Fredericktown. Interment icon will be in Marcus Memorial Park in Fredericktown. Memorial donations may be made to the Earl Leo Green Memorial Fund.

Walter Dasho
Walter Richard Dasho, 78, of Bremerton died Feb. 23, 2002, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Nov. 7, 1923, in Portland, Ore., to Peter Joseph and Anna Mary (Schaffer) Dasho. He graduated from Bremerton High School in 1942.
He married Marilyn Ruth Foran on April 23, 1946, in Fresno, Calif.
Mr. Dasho served in the Army Air Corps from 1944 to 1945.
He later worked as an electrician at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, retiring as a planner and estimator in 1979. He also owned and operated Dasho TV and Appliance Store in Bremerton.
Mr. Dasho enjoyed dining out, reading, trips to Reno, Nev., and crossword puzzles. He was a member of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Randy Dasho; a daughter, Kathy Dasho; a brother, George Dasho of Bremerton; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Dianne Dasho Mawson.
Inurnment will be at Forest Lawn cemetery in Bremerton under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel. At his request, there will be no services.
Memorial donations may be made to Harrison Hospital, 2520 Cherry Ave., Bremerton, WA 98310.

Nema Haymaker
Nema Pearl Haymaker, 86, of Port Orchard died Feb. 26, 2002, at Port Orchard Care Center after a long-term illness.
She was born Sept. 8, 1915, in Bolivar, Mo., to Walter and Cordia (Smith) Wells. She attended elementary school in Bolivar. Her family moved from Missouri to Belfair in 1939.
She married Francis Haymaker on July 20, 1940.
Mrs. Haymaker had been a homemaker all of her adult life. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking and camping.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Richard Haymaker of Lakewood and Eddie Haymaker of Whidbey Island; two daughters, Sue Jackson and Lonnie Foote, both of Yellville, Ark.; a brother, Richard Wells of Shelton; a sister, Jolene Bevis of Shelton; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Jensen; a grandchild, Collena Carr in 2000; and a brother, Bud Wells.
A graveside service is planned for 1 p.m. Tuesday at Twin Firs cemetery in Belfair. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Frederick Rinehart
Frederick Gene Rinehart, 66, of Suquamish died Feb. 19, 2002, in Bremerton of complications from emphyzema.
He was born Dec. 30, 1935, in Fort Scott, Kan., to Dale Rinehart and Addie (Swartz) Fink. He graduated from high school in Battle Creek, Mich., in 1954 and from the University of Washington in 1974. He had also attended Black Hills Teachers College in Spearfish, S.D.
He married Katheryne E. Sohn on Sept. 18, 1960, in Deadwood, S.D.
Mr. Rinehart served in the Army from 1958 to 1960. He later worked in the office of minority affairs at the University of Washington and as a counselor at the Monroe Reformatory.
He had been a board member of the Washington State Council on Crime and Delinquency and the Governor's Task Force on Crime and Delinquency. He was a member of the Methodist church.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Conrad J. Rinehart of Suquamish; two daughters, Lora A. Rinehart of Suquamish and Cara Ann Yates of Kent; and seven grandchildren.
A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. Saturday at The Church of the Living God in Tacoma. Interment icon will be at Oak Ridge cemetery in Deadwood.
