Doris Peterson
L. Doris Peterson, 92, of Silverdale died May 27, 2002, in Bremerton.
She was born Jan. 13, 1910, in Washington, Kan.
She married Walter Anton Peterson in Santa Ana, Calif. He preceded her in death in 1963.
Survivors include two nephews, Richard Huntington of Laguna Nigel, Calif., and Glen Norton of Carbondale, Colo.; four nieces, Joyce Wilson of Riverside, Calif., Sharon Peters of Las Vegas, Billie Lynn Lawson of Bremerton and Leota Weggner of Carbondale; and a sister, Gladys Highfill of Bremerton. She also was preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers.
Her memorial service is private. Interment icon is in San Jose, Calif.

Jan Perrone
Jan Lee Perrone, 43, of Bremerton died June 3, 2002.
She was born July 9, 1958, to Fenn and Mildred Newell.
Survivors include her husband, Frank Perrone; her father; a brother, Merton Small; and two sisters, Diana Rosendale and Christine Petersen. She was preceded in death by her mother and by a brother, Ricky Small.

Stephen Wyatt
Stephen A. Wyatt, 88, of Holly died May 22, 2002, at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle from injuries suffered in an automobile accident.
He was born Oct. 17, 1913, at the Wyatt homestead in Holly to Arthur and Laura Wyatt. He worked in his father's bakery on Bainbridge Island, graduating from Bainbridge High School in 1931 and completing a post graduate course in 1932.
He married Frieda H. Fiebeler on Nov. 26, 1937, in Seattle. The couple had been married nearly 65 years.
Mr. Wyatt had worked as a machinist at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in the early 1940s. He left government service and became a commercial fisherman for a few years.
He resumed government work later at the Naval Undersea Warfare Engineering Station at Keyport and at the Naval Submarine Base at Bangor, retiring in 1973 as a draftsman supervisor.
He had been an active member of the Bremerton Eagles for 60 years, serving as president of the organization twice. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and telling stories about his adventures.
Survivors include his wife of Claremont East Retirement Apartments in Bremerton; a son, Dayle Wyatt of Ravensdale and Bridgeport, Wash.; a daughter, Judy Wiedmann of Bremerton; a sister-in-law, Sheila Wyatt of Holly; three grandchildren, Dea Hershey of Vancouver, Wash., Darin Wiedmann of Bremerton and Tina Wyatt of Ravensdale; and one great-granddaughter, Cassie Wyatt of Ravensdale. He was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Warren, and a brother, Cyprian "Zip" Wyatt.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Bremerton Eagles, Sixth and Washington. Mr. Wyatt will be buried near his parents and his sister Joyce in the small cemetery donated to the Holly community more than 150 years ago by his grandfather, Charles Wyatt.
Memorial donations may be made to the Holly Community Club, 24283 Seabeck-Holly Road, Seabeck, WA 98380 or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Byron Higby
Byron Kirk Higby, 52, of Bremerton died June 1, 2002, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born March 14, 1950, in Koror, Palau, to Charles A. and Nobuko E. (Ichikawa) Higby Jr. He graduated from Bremerton's West High School in 1968.
Mr. Higby served in the Army. He later worked as a sheetmetal mechanic at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 13 years.
He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed classic cars and fishing.
Survivors include his fiancee, Sue Campbell; his mother, now of Bremerton; a brother, Charlie Higby and his wife, Gail Harriss, of Durango, Colo.; two sisters, Susanne Vaux and her husband David of Silverdale and Sandie Dickson and her husband David of Bremerton; six nieces, Felicity, Aimee, Sierra, Heaven, Israel and Ronnie Vaux; and two nephews, Jared Vaux and his wife Kathleen and Joseph Vaux. He was preceded in death by his father.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lewis Funeral Chapel, followed by a committal service at Ivy Green cemetery in Bremerton.

Harry Rodstol
Former Port Orchard resident Harry E. Rodstol, 86, of Wenatchee died May 25, 2002, at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee.
He was born Aug. 15, 1915, in Harper to Ole and Pernille (Sather) Rodstol. He graduated from Vashon High School in 1934.
He married Betty Jean Stoecker. She died in 1950.
He married Dorris Teeter. She died in 1992.
Mr. Rodstol served in the Army during World War II in the European Theater with the 10th Armored Division.
He later worked for Van De Camp's Bakery in Seattle for 25 years, retiring in 1980 and residing again in Harper.
Mr. Rodstol enjoyed gardening and working outdoors on his property in South Kitsap. He attended the Christian Life Center in Port Orchard.
Survivors include a son, David Rodstol and his wife Marcia of Wenatchee; two brothers, Laurence Rodstol of West Seattle and Leonard Rodstol of Southworth; and three grandchildren, Erik Rodstol of Southworth and Brandon and Alena Rodstol, both of Wenatchee. He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Henry Rodstol, on May 20, 2002; by two other brothers, Olaf and Oswald; and by a sister, Margaret Westlund.
A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at South Park Assembly of God, 1522 Baby Doll Road SE in Port Orchard. Interment icon follows at Sedgwick cemetery in Port Orchard. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Grant Olive
Former Bremerton resident Grant P. Olive, 46, died at his home in Florida on May 31, 2002.
He was born in Texas and traveled extensively throughout his life. He was employed as a carpenter at the time of his death. He also held a degree as a computer programmer.
He was a Vietnam veteran, having served with the Marine Corps.
Survivors include his parents, Pete and Jo Olive of Dunnellon, Fla.; two children, Vern and Shannon of San Diego; three sisters, Cindy Pierson of Warrenton, Ore., Martha Aguirre of Las Vegas and Toni (Olive) Stuart-Almirol of Dunnellon; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Interment will be at Webster National cemetery in Bushnell, Fla., at 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Gladys Batt
Gladys Helen Batt, 82, of Bremerton died May 29, 2002, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born May 30, 1919, in Scandia to Charles and Belle (Strathe) Carlson. She graduated from Union High School in Poulsbo in 1937.
She married Emerson Batt on Feb. 2, 1940, in Yuma, Ariz. They were later divorced, and he preceded her in death.
She worked for 40 years as a music teacher and as an Avon representative. She was retired.
She was devoted to her family. She also enjoyed music, gardening and golf.
She was a member of Chico Alliance Church.
Survivors include two sons, Alvin Batt and his wife, Linda, of Port Orchard and Steven Batt and his wife, Jan, of Bremerton; a sister, Beatrice Phelps of Bremerton; five grandchildren, Jeff Batt, Stacey Eslick, Don Kent, Janica Sanderson and Jim Hyde, all of Washington; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She also was preceded in death by brothers, Bernard, Carl and Ralph Carlson, and by a sister, Orlene Ericksen.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. June 9 at Chico Alliance Church, 3670 Chico Way NW in Bremerton. Inurnment will be at Mountain View cemetery in Poulsbo. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Jo Campbell
Josephine Elizabeth "Jo" Campbell, 89, a resident of Ashley Gardens at Dyes Inlet in Bremerton, died May 29, 2002, from complications of heart and lung disease at Harrison Hospital.
She was born June 1, 1912, in Belt, Mont., to Tony and Anna Spall. She graduated from Great Falls High School in Great Falls, Mont., in 1930.
She married James F. Campbell on Jan. 27, 1940. He died in 1972.
Mrs. Campbell was a homemaker. She had worked as a professional housekeeper, caterer and ranch cook.
She was a member of the Catholic church. Her interests included camping, gardening, fishing and sewing.
She is survived by her son, Dr. James A. Campbell (Capt. MCUSN Ret.) and his wife, Sandra, of Silverdale; a brother, Tony Spall of Kalispell, Mont.; a sister, Rose Healy of Reno, Nev.; three grandchildren, Anna Campbell Miller and her husband, Joe, of Benicia, Calif., Paul Campbell and his wife, Carri, of Seattle, and Dr. James Campbell Jr. and his wife, Shannon, of Denver; two great-grandchildren, Karenna Miller of Benicia and Emma Campbell of Denver; and three nieces, Deanna Nelson of Reno, Mary Beth Honaker of Fredricksburg, Texas, and Terry Rae Richburg of Whitefish, Mont. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Steve Spall, and a sister, Sophie Bann.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Holy Trinity Parish Chapel, 4215 Pine Road NE in East Bremerton.

Louis Rostad
Louis Harman Rostad, 92, of Bremerton died May 25, 2002, at Forest Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born Jan. 22, 1910, in Norway to Christian and Marie Rostad.
Mr. Rostad served in the Navy during World War II from 1942 to 1945. He participated in the Pacific Theater.
Mr. Rostad worked at a variety of occupations throughout his life. These included employment with the Merchant Marine, an Army transport operation, the Corps of Engineers, the U.S. Postal Service and The Boeing Co.
He also was a logger and a machinist. He retired in 1969.
Mr. Rostad was a member of the World Wide Church of God in Poulsbo. He enjoyed reading his Bible, being with animals and working outdoors.
He is survived by his son, Joe Rostad of Bremerton; and a niece, Dianne Kienholz of Seabeck. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Alfred (in 2000) and Edward (in 1933).
A memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. June 22 at the World Wide Church of God in Poulsbo, 16748 Scandia Road NW (Scandia Bible Church). Burial will be at Tahoma National cemetery in Kent under the direction of the Kitsap Cremation & Burial Society.

Ruth Estep
Mary "Ruth" Estep, 83, of Belfair died May 29, 2002, at her home of complications from a severe stroke suffered in 1998.
She was born Jan. 30, 1919, in Wilcox, Neb., to Eber and Mary "Mamie" (Hopkins) Cory. She graduated from high school in Arriba, Colo., in 1936.
She married Arthur Ray Estep on Sept. 2, 1938. The Esteps had lived on Cedar Road in Port Orchard since 1942. Mr. Estep died in 1986.
Mrs. Estep worked as a Tupperware representative for 38 years, retiring as a manager in 1994. She was honored as a "Tupperware Lady" in 1956.
She also participated in her husband's career as minister of the Church of God Seventh Day in Port Orchard. She enjoyed church activities and involved herself in this "secondary career" for more than 40 years.
After the age of 75, Mrs. Estep took senior computing classes, quilting classes and worked as an office assistant for four years with her daughter Lillian's Port Orchard law office. Other interests were sewing, gardening and baking.
Survivors include four sons, Darrell Allen Estep and Paul Alvin Estep, both of Port Orchard, and Harold "Hal" Estep and Virgil Arnold Estep, both of Puyallup; a daughter, Lillian Ruth Schauer of Port Orchard; a brother, Marvin Cory of Auburn; 18 grandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by siblings, Vera Cory Brittain and Fred, Fleet and Marion Cory.
A memorial service will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. Inurnment will be at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Memorial donations may be made to Daughters of the King, 1827 W. Third St., Meridian, Idaho 83642-1653.

George Hentz Jr.
George Roger Hentz Jr., 48, of Silverdale died July 21, 2002, at his home.
He was born Nov. 14, 1953, in Bremerton to George and Virginia (DeMers) Hentz Sr. He graduated from Bremerton High School.
He married Emmie M. (Taylor) Hentz on Feb. 14, 1999. She preceded him in death in 2001.
Mr. Hentz worked at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Keyport as an electrical engineer until his retirement.
He enjoyed golf and bowling. He was affiliated with the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his father; two sons, Jeffrey Hentz of Bremerton and James L. Pruitt Jr. of Houston; three daughters, Sherley Pruitt and Lillian Horn, both of Port Orchard, and Laura Wheeler of San Diego; three brothers, James Hentz of Bremerton, Ronnie Hentz of Port Orchard and Earl Hentz of Texas; two sisters, Ann Marie Hentz of Bremerton and Lotus Parkstone of California; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Sinclair Missionary Baptist Church, 4900 Auto Center Way in Bremerton. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
