Louise Marshall
Former Bremerton resident Louise O. Marshall, 90, of Valdez, Alaska, died Oct. 12, 2002, in Valdez.
She was born Feb. 12, 1912, in Winona, Miss. She lived most of her adult life in Bremerton, where she raised her children and worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.
She attended First Baptist Church of Bremerton for many years.
Survivors include a son, Thomas Marshall of Port Orchard; and a daughter, Margerete Hursh of Valdez; and other family members who reside in and around Mississippi.
She was interred at Forest Lawn cemetery in Bremerton. No services were held.
Memorial donations may be made in her name to a charity of the donor's choice.

John Ryan
John Newman Ryan, 82, of Port Orchard died Oct. 28, 2002, at Ridgemont Terrace in Port Orchard.
He was born March 27, 1920, in Newark, N.J., to John and Mildred (McQuavy) Ryan. He attended Sedro Woolley High School.
Mr. Ryan owned and operated a Standard Oil service station in El Cajon, Calif., and also repaired travel trailers while living in California. He retired in the late 1970s.
He was a member of the Port Orchard Eagles. His favorite pastime was flying.
Survivors include a son, John N. Ryan Jr. of Seattle; two daughters, Sharon A. Ryan of Seattle and Shirlee Toman of Auburn; a sister, Patricia Stone of Port Orchard; three grandchildren, William, Robert and Michael Toman; and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Nov. 9 at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard. Inurnment will be at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 4414 Woodland Park Ave. N, Seattle, WA 98103.

Marjorie Pope
Marjorie Pope, 74, of Belfair died Oct. 30, 2002, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Jan. 27, 1928, in Drumheller, Alberta, Canada. She graduated from Western Canada High School in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, in 1945.
She was a member of the Giggle & Hen Club in Belfair. She enjoyed sewing, bingo and anything having to do with the British royal family.
Survivors include three sons, Raymond J. Sperry of Belfair, Mark Bergin-Sperry of Lakewood and John Pope of Bremerton; three daughters, Lowleen Gail Denend and Robin Keehn, both of Belfair, and Arvita Melody Sperry of Eatonville; a brother, Jim Briggs of Calgary; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, May Briggs.
Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. today at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home in Bremerton. A graveside service will be at noon Monday at Twin Firs cemetery in Belfair. A celebration of life will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday at the Belfair Fire Hall on Old Belfair Highway.
Memorial donations may be made to the Belfair Fire Department.

Roger Booker Jr.
Roger Travis Booker Jr. 29, of Bremerton died Oct. 23, 2002, at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
He was born May 19, 1973, in Chicago to Roger and Earline (Fletcher) Booker. He attended Milligan High School in Long Beach, Calif.
Mr. Booker enjoyed spending time with the children in his family. Other favorite pastimes were fishing, football, basketball and model cars.
Survivors include his companion, Taunya Duzenski of Bremerton; his mother, Earline Johnson of Bremerton; two sons, Sean Booker of Bremerton and Keoni Posey of Marysville; a daughter, Laseantai Booker of Bremerton; two brothers, Jah'mal Johnson of Belfair and Douglas Parker of Bremerton; a sister, Tiffani Johnson of Bremerton; and his grandmother, Willi Fletcher of Downey, Ga.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home in Bremerton. A vigil follows the service.

June Zeitler
June B. Zeitler, 59, of Bremerton died Oct. 29, 2002, in Seattle.
She was born Nov. 16, 1942, in Blackwell, Texas, to Kelley and Bertha (Glasgow) Gaston.
She married Robert P. Zeitler on July 31, 1964, at Point Mugu Naval Air Station in California.
Mrs. Zeitler was a homemaker who enjoyed crafts and decoration. She was a member of Silverdale Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband; her mother and stepfather, Bertha and Charles Romano of Santa Paula, Calif.; two sons, John Gray and Robert A. Zeitler, both of Bremerton; a daughter, Kristine Cady and her husband, James, of Bremerton; two brothers, Donnie Gaston and his wife, Grace, of Ventura, Calif., and Corky Gaston and his wife, Peggy, of Santa Paula; three stepbrothers; two stepsisters; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her father and by a sister, Bessie Foster, in 2001.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Forest Lawn cemetery in Bremerton under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Burton Love
Burton Niles Love, 70, of Bremerton died of cancer Oct. 29, 2002, at Harrison Hospital. He had moved from Bremerton to the Ebenezer Residential Center in Poulsbo this year.
He was born Aug. 7, 1932, in Missoula, Mont., to Ross and Alma Love. He grew up in Bremerton, graduating from Bremerton High School, where he played varsity football.
Mr. Love went on to complete an apprenticeship at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. He worked as a machinist at PSNS for 30 years, retiring in 1989.
His career at the shipyard was interrupted by his service with the Army for two years during the Korean War.
Mr. Love was an avid sports fan. He faithfully followed the Mariners and Seahawks.
Survivors include his brother, David Love of Carmichal, Calif.; two sisters, Jeannette Fox of Bainbridge Island and Jeanice Green of Redmond; and 23 nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society.

Hilmer Nordby
Hilmer Edolph Nordby, 89, of Bremerton died Oct. 28, 2002, at Forest Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center in Bremerton.
He was born June 18, 1913, in White Earth, N.D., to Ole and Beataa Nordby. He lived in North Dakota until 1936, when he moved to Montana.
Mr. Nordby left Montana for Bremerton during World War II. He was employed by the Bremers at the Delux Tavern and later at the Olympic Restaurant on Pacific Avenue (working there 30 years as a bartender).
He also was a musician. For 14 years, he played the accordian and organ at the Eagles.
Mr. Nordby was a member of the Sons of Norway, the Musicians Union and Fraternal Order of Eagles 192. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, travel and playing with model trains.
Survivors include his wife, Beatrice (Geiser) Nordby; a stepson, Robert Bell and his wife, Ginnie, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lewis Funeral Chapel with a reception following for family and friends. Inurnment will be at Forest Lawn cemetery in Bremerton.

Betty Panzica
Betty Panzica, 74, of Bremerton died Oct. 26, 2002, of congestive heart failure at her home.
She was born July 15, 1928, in Missouri to John and Kathleen (Moylen) Barber. She was raised and educated in California, having attended John Garfield High School in Los Angeles.
She married Harold Ohlund on May 16, 1946. They were divorced, and he preceded her in death.
She married Fred Panzica on April 10, 1954, in Las Vegas.
Mrs. Panzica was a homemaker who enjoyed singing and playing the guitar. She was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 239 in Bremerton.
She is survived by her husband; two sons, Eddie Ohlund of Wichita, Kansas, and Bobby Ohlund of Irvine, Calif.; two daughters, LeeAnn Choate of Bremerton and Helen Kay Brown of Bly, Ore.; seven grandchildren, Meredith, Dustin, Cindy, Richard, Andrea, Sarah and Molly; and one great-grandchild, Morgan.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at VFW Post 239, 190 S. Dora Ave. in Bremerton.

Daniel Weston
Daniel Weston, 72, of Grapeview died Oct. 21, 2002, following a lengthy illness and surgery in Olympia.
He was born June 20, 1930, in Seattle. He was a veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Weston had been an elementary school teacher in Kent and Richland. After his retirement, he worked in personnel management for several years.
He had been a resident of Grapeview for the past 18 years and had volunteered with his favorite charity, the North Mason Food Bank, for the past nine years. He had served as president of the food bank's board of directors and, at the time of his death, was vice president of the board.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly; two sons, David of Grapeview and Dale of Seattle; a daughter, Vickie of Gig Harbor; an infant grandson, Daniel of Gig Harbor; and two granddaughters Rhiannon and Angela, both of Bellingham.
Memorial donations may be made to the North Mason Food Bank, P.O. Box 421, Belfair, WA 98528.

Marjorie Stone
Marjorie C. Stone, 72, of Bremerton died Oct. 28, 2002, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Nov. 25, 1929, in Seattle to Ralph and Cleora Loss. She graduated from Bremerton High School in 1947 and from Washington State University in 1951.
She married Norman "Rocky" Stone on April 14, 1953, in Seattle. He died in 1991.
Mrs. Stone was a member of the Bremerton Central Lions Club and had served as executive director of the Lions Sight Foundation. She also was a volunteer at the Kitsap County Museum.
Survivors include a son, Brad Stone and his wife, Carmon, of Everett; a daughter, Debi Carrier and her husband, Dan, of Everett; a brother, Jim Loss and his wife, Jean, of Richland; six grandchildren, Shana, Jason and Julie Carrier and Richard, Sean and Casey Stone; and two great-grandchildren, Matt and Gabe Carrier.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home in Bremerton.

Vivian McMurry
Former Bremerton resident Vivian Francis McMurry, 76, of Auburn died Oct. 23, 2002, in Auburn.
She was born Oct. 3, 1926, in Bremerton.
She was a retired elementary school teacher, having taught in Tenino for three years and in the Tahoma School District for 24 years. She also served as a docent with the White River Valley Historical Society Museum and tutored in the Maple Valley School District.
She loved her cats. She also enjoyed learning, art and travel.
Her survivors include a son, Tim McMurry of Lexington, Ky.; a daughter, Pamela Larsen of Seattle; two brothers, Alvin and Eugene Harris, both of Bremerton; two sisters, Dorothy Minger of Kent and Beverly Helck of Bremerton; and a grandson, Andrew Larsen.
A funeral service was held Sunday at Yahn & Son Funeral Home in Auburn with interment at Evergreen Memorial Park in Enumclaw.
The family suggests remembrances to the Virginia Mason Foundation, P.O. Box 1930, D1-MF, Seattle, WA 98111.

Mani Arp
Magnhild Charlotta "Mani" Arp, 77, of Port Orchard died of a femoral aneurysm Oct. 25, 2002, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Nov. 23, 1924, in New Westminster, B.C., to Gustav and Hulda Nilsson. She graduated from high school there.
She married Roy L. Arp on July 12, 1976.
Mrs. Arp enjoyed crochet, Swedish cooking and her two dogs, Cutie and Cuddles.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Mikael P. Glaze and his wife, Carol, of Mountlake Terrace; a daughter, Mariana Harris and her husband, Brian, of Bothell; two grandsons, Kristoffer Glaze and his wife, Stephanie, and Aron Harris; three granddaughters, Jeniffer Leathers and her husband, Shawn, Mandy Glaze and Adina Harris; and seven great-grandchildren.
No services will be held. Cremation is under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
