childhood in Sacramento, California.
Always ambitious, Jim was able to
maintain two large paper routes for the
Sacramento Bee while attending school.
After graduating from Sacramento State
in California, he decided to pursue a
calling for the Priesthood. Jim spent
six years in the seminary, earning a
degree in the Bachelor of Arts from

dangerous part of town, for which he
was awarded “Employee of the Year”.
While maintaining a career in law

under his brokerage. Retiring to
Bellingham in 1995, he immediately
joined John L. Scott Real Estate,
later establishing his own real estate
company, Jim Neal and Associates, PS.

Investigator in the State of Washington
doing business as Neal Detective
Agency. He also co-owned Marc-James
Manor Bed & Breakfast. Jim was active
with the Alabama Hills Association for
many years, serving twice as

Mayor’s Advisory Council and on the
Multiple Listing Board. Jim hosted
many fundraisers for different
charities in his beautiful home. He
tried to balance his busy professional
life with his love of animals and
photography. Recently, he began to
pursue a dream of kayaking and was
planning to learn to sky dive.

brother Pete and sister-in-law Sheila
of Valley Springs, California, his
sister Mary and brother-in-law Jon

Dorothy (Valentine) Oakley in
Bellingham.
Bonnie spent her childhood with her
mother and sisters, Rose, Nancy, and
Janice. During her adolescent years she
acquired the nickname, “Bony Bonnie
with the Knobby Knees.” She had her
sister to thank for that one. She
graduated from Sehome High School in

career. Bonnie has been a manager of

was a Realtor with Coldwell Banker for
7 years. Despite her outstanding
devotion and commitment to her
employment, being the best mother and
wife she could became the most
important to her. She sure did
accomplish that. Bonnie was a
generous, outspoken individual who was
well respected by her family, friends,
and those with whom she associated. Her
love and devotion could be heard from
KPUG Radio mornings to the stands of
her son's baseball games. From PTA
meetings to her husband’s company
picnics, Bonnie kept her commitment to
her son, and “Hung in there and never
gave up.” In return her sisters would
say that she was a “Tough ol’ Bird.”
Bonnie was preceded in death by her
mother Dorothy Valentine; brother Tommy
Oakley; and father-in-law Kenneth
Strode. She is survived by her husband
John Strode of Bellingham; son Kyle
Strode of Bellingham; three sisters,

Celebration of Bonnie's Life will be
held Friday, August 6th at Westford
