Ella May Creed
12/8/1916 - 4/16/2004

Ella May Creed, 87, of Bellingham,
born
December 16, 1916 in Gravesend, Kent,
England to John and Florence (Smith)
Tillman.
Ella death February 23,
2003. She is survived by two sons:
Kenneth R. Creed and wife June of
Pasco, WA and Robert M. Creed Jr. and
wife Andrea of Hat Island, WA. Also
surviving are 5 grandchildren,
including Christine Krell of
Bellingham, and 10 great-grandchildren;
plus nieces, nephews and good friends
in England and British Columbia, Canada.
Ella and Bob immigrated to British
Columbia following WWII with their sons
and then to the US in 1963, where they
lived in Bellevue, Oak Harbor and
Bellingham. During WWII, while her
husband served in the British Navy,
Ella worked as a conductress in the
English bus system. She was a
professional cook and household
supervisor; beginning her career at 15
in households in Kent, England. Bob and
Ella owned their own small café in BC
where fish and chips were the
specialty. Upon immigrating to the US
she was head of the household staff for
the Boeing family. She continued her
career in the hotel and service
industry until retirement in 1980.
Retirement was spent traveling and
settling into their home overlooking
Penn Cove on Whidbey Island. The last
few years were spent at Merrill Gardens
in Bellingham where Ella made many
friends and enjoyed Bingo and was
lovingly assisted by their staff.
Finally, she moved to Alderwood Park
where their caring attentive staff made
her remaining days happy and
comfortable.
A memorial service will be held Sunday,
April 25th at 4pm at the Community Room
at Merrill Gardens at Cordata, in
Bellingham. In lieu of flowers,
memorials may be made to a favorite
charity.

Robert Francis Eugene Thon
11/27/1920 - 5/9/2004

Robert F. Thon, age 83, born
November 27, 1920, in Bellingham, to
Jacob and Mildred Thon. He graduated
from Bellingham High School with the
class of 1940.
Bob was a World War II Veteran called
to active duty with the National Guard
in Bellingham on September 16, 1940.
He served as the Battalion Commo Chief
with HQ Co., 1st Battalion, 161st
Infantry in the campaigns at
Guadalcanal, New Georgia, and the
invasion landing of Luzon in the
Philippines. His decorations include
the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with
Three Stars, the Combat Infantry Badge,
and the Bronze Star. He was discharged
as a Staff Sergeant on August 25, 1945.
Bob was a fifty year member of the
International Brotherhood of Electric
Workers (IBEW), and he worked for Mobil
Oil Refinery for twenty years as an
Electrician Foreman for Mills Electric
Company. Prior to 1970, he was
employed as a Construction Electrician
and worked in the logging industry for
several years. He was a life member of
Veteran of Foreign Wars, Post 1585, in
Bellingham. Bob enjoyed music,
dancing, hiking, fishing, woodworking,
and traveling.
He was preceded in passed away May 8, 2004. Private
Family Services will be held at Bayview
death by grandson
Corey Downing. William is survived by
his wife, Vi Downing; son Dan (Kathi)
Downing; son Dave Downing and companion
Wendy; daughter-in-law Sue Downing;
grandsons Michael and Brian Downing.

Frances Maude (Mark) Trecker
11/14/1911 - 4/11/2004

On the most spectacular Easter Sunday
morning April 11, 2004, Frances Maude
(Mark) Trecker, age 92, went home to be
with her Lord and Savior. With the
songbirds celebrating a life well done,
and family gathered around, her gentle
soul passed into heaven.
As a lifetime resident of Bellingham,
WA, Frances was married Carl F. Trecker and
together they raised 3 children. She
once said that her favorite time in
life was when she had the honor of
opening their eyes to the wonder of all
of God’s creations.
Frances was preceded in death by her
husband, Carl; brother Chuck & wife
Wilma Mark; and grandson Brook
Trecker.
She is survived by her brother Raymond
& wife Jayne Mark, son Martreck (Marty)
and wife Diane (Dee) Trecker; daughters
Marlene & husband Del Wolf, and Diane
I. Trecker. Also survived by
grandchildren Sonja & husband Brad
Benjamin, Steve & wife Tanya Wolf,
Jennifer & husband John Young, Stanley
& wife Trina Wolf, and Mark Dawson; 10
great-grandchildren; and numerous
nieces and nephews.
Frances, a talented young lady, played
many musical instruments including the
ukulele, piano, church organ,
accordion, and many more. And her love
of singing expanded from church choir
as a child and ended with the Silver
Bells at the Senior Center.
When Frances was in her forties, she
went back to school and became a
Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked
at St. Luke’s Hospital until her
retirement at the age of 65. Her
caring and kindness of the patients was
exemplary.
In her fifties, Frances decided to
learn how to water and snow ski. She
was still water skiing at age 70, but by
then had gone back to 2 skis!
Memorials may be made to Hospice of
Whatcom County.
Visitation will be held at Westford
Funeral Home on Thursday, April 15 from
9 – 1. Please join us in celebrating
the wonderful life of our Mother and
Grandmother by attending a service
Thursday, April 15, 2004 at 2:00 p.m.
at Westford Funeral Home.
