Max Manore, 73
BAY CITY - Max Joseph Manore, age 73, of Red Wing died Sunday, Sept. 26, 1999, at his home.
He was born June 8, 1926, in Arkansaw to Floyd and Genevieve (Holden) Manore and attended schools in Arkansaw. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Ann Schober July 3, 1946, in Eau Galle. They moved to Red Wing in 1947. He worked at S.B. Foot Tannery for many years and took early retirement due to disability. He also drove school bus for Lee Lines for several years. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, where he was an usher; Leo C. Peterson American Legion and Burnson Lillyblad VFW posts; and Red Men Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking.
He is survived by: his wife; four daughters, Gloria (Michael) Dingley of Crystal, Minn., Gail (Wayne) Irvin and Gay (Jerry) Larson, both of Red Wing, and Gwen Barker (Earl Hipp) of Minneapolis; two sons, Mark (Denise) of Ogden, Utah, and Rodney (Edna) of Valley Center, Calif.; 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Wayne of Rock River, Wyo., and Elwyn (Yvonne) of Bay City; nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were one sister, Marion Smigla, and one brother, Lynn.
Funeral services were Thursday, Sept. 30, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with the Rev. Thomas Walker officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Michael Dingley, Earl Hipp, Wayne Irvin, Aaron, Jerry and Trevor Larson. Memorials are preferred to Fairview Red Wing Hospice or the American Lung Association.
Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, handled arrangements.

Vernon Shellito, 74
EL PASO TOWNSHIP - Vernon L. Shellito, age 74, Cambridge, Minn., and formerly of Pierce County, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999, at Cambridge Health Care Center, where he had been a resident since earlier this year.
He was born July 4, 1925, in El Paso Township to Thomas Porter and Nellie (Bush) Shellito and grew up in Pierce County. He married Winijean Jameison Sept. 16, 1943, in Durand. He worked for many years for the Prospect Foundry and Cosel Foundry, both in Minneapolis, until retiring in 1979. They moved in 1985 to Brooklyn Park, Minn. She died June 6, 1997, and he then lived with family members in that area.
He is survived by: nine sons, Jesse of Minneapolis, Vernon (Bonnie) of Moorhead, Minn., Charles (Helen) of St. Joseph, Minn., Samuel (Diane) of Granstburg, Phillip (Diane) of Wyoming, Minn., Donald of Minneapolis, Ronald of Braham, Minn., Timothy (Michelle) of Minneapolis and Manny (Amy) of Braham, Minn.; two daughters, Mary (James) Oswald Sr. of Litchfield, Minn., and Patricia "Jennifer" (Jeffrey) Sullivan of Dassel, Minn.; 32 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; two brothers and one sister; nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were: his wife; one daughter, Gloria; five sisters; and one brother.
Funeral was to be Tuesday, Oct. 5, at Abbott Funeral Home, Wabasha, Minn., with the Rev. Bill Steinke officiating. Burial was to be in Nelson Cemetery, Nelson. Pallbearers were: Vernon Shellito Jr., Phillip and Timothy Shellito, Sheila Tilander, Christopher Shellito, Jason Oswald, James Oswald Jr. and Jeffrey Sullivan Jr.

Teddy Traynor, 71
ELMWOOD - Patrick Theodore "Teddy" Traynor, age 71, of Elmwood died Thursday, Sept. 16, 1999, at United Hospital in St. Paul.
He was born March 10, 1928, in St. Paul to Edward and Mary (Barnes) Traynor and attended Woods Country School and high school in Spring Valley.
He married Catherine Brookshaw Nov. 25, 1950, in Clayfield. He worked for Sweeney Brothers Construction and at the stockyards in South St. Paul, Minn. He also worked on the Wisconsin Gas pipeline and farmed most of his life in El Paso and Rock Elm townships. He sold his cows in 1995 and then continued to farm the land. He traveled to Ireland in 1982 and fulfilled his dream of kissing the Blarney Stone. He enjoyed horses, riding his three-wheeler and working with his herding dogs.
He is survived by: his wife; four sons, John (Helen) of River Falls, Phillip (Debbie) of Beldenville, Peter (Karen) and Michael of Ellsworth; seven grandchildren; one brother, Norman Bjornson of El Paso; and several nieces.
Funeral was Sept. 20 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Spring Valley. Burial was in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, El Paso Township. His grandchildren were pallbearers.

Wes Martindale, 63
HAGER CITY - Marvin "Wes" Wesley Martindale, age 63, of Hager City, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999, at Fairview University Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 25, 1936, in Cloquet, Minn., the son of Marvin and Leora (Plante) Martindale. He attended school in Cloquet and served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
In 1958, he married Bonnie (Robinson) in Russell Springs, Kan. They lived in Cloquet and in 1963 moved to Red Wing. He worked at Meyers for 14 years, and then for Flueger Construction.
In 1984, they moved to Hager City. Retiring from Holst Construction in 1998, he enjoyed restoring motorcycles and working on other fabrication projects.
He is survived by: his wife, Bonnie, Hager City; two sons, Guy (Kathy) of Hager City and Tony of Red Wing; one daughter, Robin (Dave) Yarrington of Hager City; one sister, Patricia Martindale of Cloquet; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: one brother, Francis; one son, Clayton; one daughter, Carolyn Crotteau; and one grandson.
Funeral was Saturday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, with the Rev. Eugene Hasselquist officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Guy and Tony Martindale, Earl, Travis and Adam Crotteau, Dave Yarrington. Honorary pallbearers were: Tara Crotteau, Jamie and Jessie Yarrington.

Teddy Traynor, 71
ELMWOOD - Patrick Theodore "Teddy" Traynor, age 71, of Elmwood died Thursday, Sept. 16, 1999, at United Hospital in St. Paul.

Robert G. Geiger, 49
SPRING VALLEY - Robert 'Bob' George Geiger, age 49, of Lafayette, La., died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 1999, at Lafayette General Medical Center from cancer.
Born Aug. 25, 1950, in Baldwin, he was the son of Eugene and Audrey (Russell) Geiger. He grew up on a farm at Spring Valley, and was baptized and confirmed at Gilman Lutheran Church. He graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1968 and attended UW-Stout. He was presently self-employed as an independent construction contractor.
He married Marlene Wieman in Menomonie in 1969 and separated in 1979. They had one daughter, Josephine Ann. He married Donna Quellhorst in Lafayette in 1995. They have one son, Nicholas Connor.
Survivors include: his wife, Donna Geiger, a son, Nicholas of Lafayette, a daughter, Josephine Geiger, and a granddaughter; his parents, Eugene and Audrey Geiger of Spring Valley; sisters, Linda (Wayne) Miklian of River Falls, Christine (Bill) Hingman of Spring Valley, Sandra Bock of St. Joseph, Minn.; a brother, Gary Geiger of Sandwich, Ill.; also, several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Robert and Marthine Geiger, and George and Astrid Russell.
Services were held at Delhomme Northside Chapel on Sept. 25 with Rev. Spiller Milton, Pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Internment was at Calvary Cemetery in Lafayette. Pallbearers were: Larry Sikes, Emile Henley, Todd Ragburn, Gary Geiger, Eugene Geiger and David Quellhorst.

Elaine N. McCann, 74
RIVER FALLS - Elaine N. McCann, age 74, of Chandler, Ariz., formerly of River Falls and Webster, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999.
She was born in El Paso, Oct. 23, 1924, the daughter of George and Hilda (Nelson) Holden.
She was a bank teller at the First National Bank for many years.
She is survived by: her husband, Richard of Chandler; daughters, Rose Mary McCann of Hudson, Pat (Bruce) Wisse of Wausau; son, Jack (Jayne) McCann of Chandler; five grandchildren; one sister, Rosalie Meier of Arizona.
Funeral was to be Tuesday, Oct. 12, at St. Bridget's Catholic Church in River Falls. Burial was in the Martell Methodist Cemetery, Martell.
Cashman Mortuary handled arrangements.

Gladys Meyers, 88
PRESCOTT - Gladys (Koenig) Meyers, age 88, of Woodbury, Minn., and formerly of Red Wing, died Saturday, Sept. 25, 1999, at Woodbury Health Care Center.
She was born April 8, 1911, in Oronoco, Minn., and lived in the Rochester, Minn., and Oronoco areas before moving to St. Paul. She was a Kahler Hotel employee and waitress. Her husband was Hans Meyers.
She is survived by: three daughters, Virginia "Ginny" (Joe) DeGidio of Prescott, Janet (Bob) Opsahl of White Bear Lake, Minn., and Betty (Mike) Holcomb of League City, Tex.; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marcella Amundson of Rochester and Katherine Johnson of Wausau.
Preceding her in death were her husband, four brothers and three sisters.
Funeral was Oct. 4 at Ranfranz Funeral Home in Rochester with burial in Oronoco Cemetery.

Edgar M. 'Eddie' Ide, 87
Edgar M. "Eddie" Ide, age 87, of Red Wing died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 1999, at St. Mary's Hospital.
He was born Aug. 22, 1912, in Plainview, Ia., the son of Edward and Martha (Bearwald) Ide. The family lived several places including Rush City, Minn., where he attended school. They lived in Hager City. He worked on farms while growing up, then as a pile driver on the Red Wing/Hastings (Minn.) Dam. He continued to farm and moved to Red Wing in 1945. He worked at Yellow Cab and Bus Company, then Red Wing Implement, retiring from there 25 years ago.
He married Virginia Graham in River Falls, Jan. 27, 1934. He was a confirmed member of United Lutheran Church, he was a member of Redman Club. He enjoyed fishing, watching baseball, bowling and playing euchre.
He is survived by: his wife, Virginia; two sons, Roger (Caroline) and Gary (Eileen) Ide, both of Red Wing; one daughter, DeMaris (Bill) Johnson of Luck; one sister, Eleanor (Elmer) Swanson of Ellsworth; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Dennis; one brother, Conrad; and one sister, Elvera Wagner.
Funeral services were Saturday, Oct. 26, at United Lutheran Church with Rev. Andrew Smith officiating. Burial was in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Red Wing.

Amanda Duff, 79
BELDENVILLE - Amanda Florness Duff, age 79, Red Wing, died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 1999, at her home.
She was born Nov. 9, 1919, in Beldenville to Lars Pedersen Florness and Inga Alfine Dahl. Her father was born in Hegra, Norway, in 1884 and emigrated to this country in 1902. Her mother was born in Wanamingo, Minn., in 1898. She grew up on a farm overlooking Lake Pepin just outside Bay City. She graduated from Ellsworth Senior High School in 1937 and from UW-River Falls in 1941. She taught eighth grade English in Maiden Rock, Trempealeau and Carleton, Minn., before coming to teach in Red Wing in 1948. She married Philip Sheridan Duff June 16, 1956, at United Lutheran Church. He died Jan. 9, 1997.
She is survived by: three children, Philip (Amy) of Greenwich, Conn., Anne of St. Paul and Sarah (Mark) Halvorson of Eden Prairie, Minn.; six grandchildren; one brother, Palmer of Bay City; two aunts, three nieces and two nephews.
Preceding her in death were one brother, Kenneth Florness, and one nephew.
Funeral was Saturday, Oct. 16, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Beldenville, with the Rev. Richard Ulvilden officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the church.

Earl H. Lemler, Jr., 60
BAY CITY - Earl H. Lemler, Jr., age 60, of Bay City died Sunday, Oct. 17, 1999.
He was born Sept. 15, 1939, the son of Earl and Alma Lemler. He was married to Marjorie Westerberg on July 7, 1965, in Sioux Falls, S.D. He was a welder by trade, and spent 25 years working for Thomas and Betts. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by: his wife, Marjorie; son, Earl III (Lisa) of Hager City; daughter, Allyce (Richard) Southerton of River Falls; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, June Johnson of Knapp; brother, Almont (Pat) Lemler of Great Falls, Mont.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Oct. 21, at 5 p.m. at Swandby-Murphy Funeral Home in Maiden Rock. Visitation will be Thursday from 2-5 p.m. at the funeral home.

Courtney A. Peterson, infant
SPRING VALLEY - Courtney Ann Peterson, infant daughter of Troy and Barb Peterson of Woodville, died prematurely on Wednesday, Oct. 13, 1999, at the Hudson Medical Center, Hudson.
Private graveside services were held on Friday, Oct. 15, at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Spring Valley. Pastor Kevin Humphrey of River Falls officiated the service.
She is survived by: her parents Troy and Barb and her sister Tara, all of Woodville. Other family members include: maternal grandparents, Richard and Barb Mann of Hudson; paternal grandparents, Albert and Yvonne Peterson of Spring Valley; paternal great grandmothers, Blythe Pierce of Spring Valley and Martha Peterson of Beldenville; aunts and uncles, Todd and Carol Peterson, Rick and Donesa Mann, Julie and Eric Stroh, and Mike and Kimberly Mann, and other relatives.
Keehr Funeral Home, Spring Valley, assisted the family.
