May 6 2003 Mrs. Dollie E. Lyons, 71, of Maysel went home with the angels to be with our Lord May 4, 2003, after a long illness. She was surrounded by her loving family who will miss her deeply.
Dollie was born November 10, 1932, at Sycamore Creek to James and Locie Osborne. Today she is in Heaven with her parents. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sisters, Vernia Pritt, Reba Wyant, Beverly K. Wyant, and Mildred Brown; brother, Roscoe Gibson; and her step-father, Edward Wyant.
She was a homemaker, formerly a driver for Anwar Eye Clinic, and also drove people back and forth from doctor's appointments. She was always readily available if any one needed her assistance, and was known by most people in and around Clay County for her willingness to help others any way she could. Survivors include: Husand - Ronald Lyons, married 49 years Daughter and Son-in-law - Peggy and Billy Grose of Procious, Grandchildren - Billie Jo and Bill Baird of Barberton, OH, Billy Jr. and Judy L. Grose of Procious, Cindy and Pete Hess of Barberton, Mindy and Scott Eckberg of Barberton, and Misty and Josh Taylor of Bickmore; 11 Great-grandchildren, l great-great-grandaughter, Elexis Kulcsar; sisters, Sandy Samples of Wallback, Judith Coffrey of Sandford, NC, Brenda Summers of Kent, KY, and Madge Mullins of Bickmore; 24 nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 2 pm on Thursday, May 8, 2003, at Carl Wilson Funeral Home Chapel, Clay, with Rev. Jack Long and Rev. Bobby Webb, Jr. officiating. will follow in the Wyant Cemetery, Ovapa. Friends may call from 6 to 9 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Master Sergeant USAF Ret., Alfred Carl Triplett,73, of Clay, passed away May 3, 2003, at his residence after an extended illness. He joined the Army Air Force in January, 1946, and served 26 active years and 4 years in the Reserves. He retired July 1, 1972, after serving in France, Germany, England, and Thailand. He was a veteran of WWII, Korean, and Vietnam Wars. He was the son of the late Lee "Poppy" Triplett and Lula Rose Triplett. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 4 sisters. Survivors include: Wife - Zola Triplett, married 21 years Son - Carl Jr. of Paris, France Daughters - Tracy Aslanian of Voorhees, NJ Theresa Welch of Voorhees, NJ Stepsons - A. J. Funeral service will be held at the Carl Wilson Funeral Home Chapel, Clay, Wednesday, May 7, 2003, beginning at l p.m. with Minister Ralph Davis officiating. will follow at the Triplett Cemetery, Clay, WV. Friends may call from 6 to 9 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home.

MAY 5 2003 Cloe Cottrell, 81, of Newton, died Thursday, May 1, 2003, at Roane General
Hospital, Spencer. She was born on Janury 24, 1922, in Oka, WV, to the late Barney and Mary Truman. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Clay; son, Shirley; grandson, Nolan, Jr; and granddaughters, Kim and Janet. She was a homemaker. She is survived by her daughters, Betty Sorrell of Newton, Jean Grose of Left Hand, Loretta Truman of Uler, and Evelyn Lowers of Spencer; sons, Nolan Cottrell of Jonesville, NC, Delmer Cottrell of Wooster, OH, Roy Cottrell, Kenny Cottrell, and Richard Cottrell, all of Newton; 21 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral Service will be l p.m. Sunday, May 4, 2003, at Carl Wilson Funeral Home Chapel, Clay, with Minister Homer Hensley officiating. will follow in the Cottrell Cemetery, Oka. APRIL 26, 2003 Janis Lou Burkhamer, 69 of Duck, WV. Died, April 26, 2003 at Laurel Nursing & Rehabilitation, Big Otter, WV. She was a member of the O'Brien Advent Christian Church, a 1951 graduate of Clay County High School and a Homemaker. She is survived by: Mother: Ella McCracken Drake - Ivydale, WV Sons: Carl, Robert Keith, and Phillip Duffield all of Duck, WV Thomas Duffield - Spencer, Ohio Sister: Bonnie L. She was born December 29, 2003 at Bickmore, WV to the late Clark Ezra and Margaret Verna Neal. She was preceded in death by her Husband, Samuel Burkhamer. She was the owner-operator of the U-can Restaurant. Two Run, and a Member of the Fairview Baptist Church. She was born January 3, 1926, in Charleston to the late Clarence and Ora Young. She was a homemaker, a member of the American Legion, the Clay Lions Club, and a member of the Clay VFW Post 4419 Ladies Auxillary. March 29 2003 Rose Ann Taylor, 83, of Creston, died Wednesday, March 26, 2003, at Mile Tree Health Care Center, Spencer. She was born on March 29, 1919, in Clay County to the late Charlie and Genetta Cummings. Survivors include her sons, Dale Starcher of Stinson and Joe Starcher of Leroy; daughters, Idice Conway of Saint Maries, Idaho, Juanita McCumber of Orma, Mary Durfee of Ellisville, MS, Jane Parker of Laurel, MS, and Kathleen Cash of Cremo, WV; brother, Robert Cummings of Looneyville; sister, Emma McKinney of Wallback; 42 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at a later date at Carl Wilson Funeral Home, Clay, with Minister Fred Patterson officiating. will be in the Elswick Cemetery, Clendenin.

March 28 2003 Lee W. Rhodes, 88, of Charleston, formerly of Hartland, died Wednesday, March 26, 2003,in Charleston. He was born on September 25, 1914. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia; a grandson, Lenden Jeffers, Jr.; brothers, Oscar and Weldon, and sisters, Blanche and Inez. Survivors include his children and their spouses; Lorena and Garrett Jeffers of Massillon, OH; Jewel Boyd of Canton, Robert Rhodes of Germany, Eddie Rhodes of Clay, Clarice and Howard Williams of Ohio, Roy and Patricia Rhodes of Canton, Ray and Janet Rhodes of Charleston, Randal and Bobbie Rhodes of Lizemores; 24 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Warren Rhodes, and sisters, Maysel Walker, Madlyn Gardner, and Chessie Brown.
Funeral service will be 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2003, at Carl Wilson Funeral Home, Clay, with his grandson, Rev. Christopher L. Rhodes, officiating. will follow in Sunset Cemetery, Bickmore. Friends may call from 6 to 8 pm on Friday at the funeral home.

March 26, 2003
Eva Stewart, 85, of Bickmore, died Tuesday, March 24, 2003,.
She was born on December 19, 1917, in Dry Branch, WV, to the late John and Lucinda Carton. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Loring Stewart. She was a homemaker and a member of the Laurel Fork Missionary Baptist Church, Adonijah Road, Lizemores.
She is survived by her sons, Arthur L. Stewart of Smithers, and Harold G. Stewart of Montgomery Heights; daughters, Margaret Lucas and Sharon Ramsey, both of Bickmore, and Arbutus Nottingham of Salisbury, NC; sister, Lillian Chapman of North Ridgeville, OH; 22 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 27, 2003, at Carl Wilson Funeral Home, Clay, with Minister Naaman Moore officiating. will follow in Sunset Cemetery, Bickmore. Friends may call two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.

March 13, 2003
Velma R. "Did" Osborne, 91, of Bickmore,
died Tuesday, March 11, 2003, in Montgomery General Hospital.
She was born on November 17, 1911, in Standard, WV, to the late James and Nettie Nelson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Sam Taylor and Johnny Osborne, son, Freddie Taylor, grandson, Michael Shane, and granddaughter, Christina Lynn. She was a homemaker, a loving mother and grandmother, and a friend to all who knew her. Survivors include her sons, Elmer Taylor of Bickmore, Shirley Taylor of Reynoldsburg, OH, Teddy Taylor of Tucson, AZ, and James Taylor of Courtland, NY; daughters, Connie Lane of Bickmore, and Roberta Saletko of Naples, FL; 23 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Wallace Ray Hannah, 68, of Duck,
died Thursday, March 6, 2003, at Braxton County Memorial Hospital.
He was born on March 23, 1934, in Clay County to the late Everett and Prunie Young Hannah.
He is a retired timberman. Survivors include a brother, Jim Hannah of Duck; sisters, Jean Copeland of Duck, June Moore of Indore, and Emily Razor of Michigan.
Funeral service will be 2 pm Saturday, March 8, 2003, at Carl Wilson Funeral Home, Clay, with Minister Darius Arnold officiating. will follow in the Cadle Cemetery, Duck.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

March 3, 2003
Mr. Denver Lee Jeffers, 92, of Bickmore,
died Wednesday, February 26, 2003, at Blue Skies Elderly Care, Cannelton Hollow Road.
He was born in Fola on September 13, 1910, to the late Norman and Arie Jane Jeffers, also preceded in death by wife,Ina Mae Jeffers. He was a retired coal miner, and self-employed carpenter. He was also a deacon and member of the Fola Missionary Baptist Church for over 70 years. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Mark Jeffers of Bickmore, Garrett and Lorena Jeffers of Massillon, Ohio, and Teddy and Charlotte Jeffers of Canton, Ohio; sisters, Mildred Holcomb of Bickmore, Dorothy Brown of Summersville, Alma Moore and Jane Bennett, both of Albion, NY; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2003, at Fola Missionary Baptist Church with Minister John Osborne officiating. will follow in Sunset Cemetery, Bickmore. Friends may call from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Friday, February 28, 2003 at Carl Wilson Funeral Home Chapel, Clay, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
