Mary J. Giddings
LITTLE HOCKING - Mary J. Giddings, 87, of Little Hocking died Wednesday, March 12, 2003, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
She was born Jan. 23, 1916, in Decatur Township, Washington County, daughter of the late Simeon and Mattie Wilmoth Mellon. She was a homemaker and retired form the Washington County Children's Home in Marietta. She was a member of the Decatur United Methodist Church.

Mary Hersman
LAKELAND, Fla. - Mary Hersman, 96, of Lakeland, Fla., died Tuesday, March 11, 2003.
She is survived by her son, Frederick "Jack" Ash; two brothers, James H. Yoho and his wife, Betty, and Blondia; two sisters-in-law, Leona Yoho and Thelma Yoho; and several nieces and nephews.

Vivian E. Manson
PARKERSBURG - Vivian E. Manson, 78, of Parkersburg died March 10, 2003, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Grantsville, a daughter of the late Tillman and Pansy Trippett Starkey. She was a graduate of Calhoun County High School, Marietta Beauty College and Charleston Beauty Academy. She was a beautician and retired from the V.I.P. Hair Salon in Grantsville. She most recently enjoyed volunteering her time and services for the MOVRC at the Family Crisis Intervention Center where she was a foster grandparent. She attended Parkview United Methodist Church and was a member of Knott's Memorial United Methodist Church in Grantsville.

Charles McNemar
PARKERSBURG - Charles A. McNemar, 93, of Parkersburg died March 12, 2003, at his residence.
He was born Aug. 18, 1909 in Harrisville, a son of the late Joseph Arron and Laura M. Harden McNemar. He was retired from Ideal Box Company after 28 years of service.

Jacob F. Otto
COLUMBUS, Ind. - Jacob F. "Jake" Otto, 89, of Columbus, Ind., formerly of Parkersburg, died Wednesday, March 12, 2003, at Silver Oaks Health Campus, Indiana.
He was born May 10, 1913, in Wheeling, W.Va., a son of the late Jacob H. and Marie (Fletcher) Otto. He was a 1931 graduate of Linsly Military Institute, a 1935 graduate of Washington Jefferson College, and a member of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. He retired in 1978 as plant accountant for American Cyanamid Company. In 1982, he became the founder and president of Worthington Senior Men's Golf Association in Parkersburg. He served as first vice president of Ohio Valley Shrine Club and was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 3 Mt. Olive AF and AM, Nemesis Temple of the Shrine, Ben Bey Grotto, Elks Lodge 198 and Stout Methodist Church, all in Parkersburg.

James A. Piggott Jr.
PARKERSBURG - James A. Piggott Jr., 46, of Parkersburg died March 11, 2003, at his residence.
He was born in 1958, a son of James A. Sr. and Roberta Riddle Piggott of Parkersburg. He was a self-employed carpenter and a member of the Church of Christ.

Flo L. Starcher
SPENCER - Flo Laughlin Starcher, 81, of Spencer died Tuesday, March 11, 2003.
She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Florence Hall; two brothers, Brice and Gene Laughlin; four grandchildren, Kevin Carr, Ron Carr, John Carr, and Lisa Whytsell; six great-grandchildren; and a monumental ex-daughter-in-law, Mrs. Patricia Wayne.

Walter Taylor
PARKERSBURG - Walter "Bud" Taylor, 67, of Parkersburg died March 12, 2003, at his residence under Hospice care.
He was born in Troy July 31, 1935, a son of the late Ralph and Freda Cole Taylor. He retired from Weirton Steel after 35 years of service with the company. He was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church.

James M. Waldron
PARKERSBURG - James Matthew Waldron, infant son of Amy Beth Waldron of Parkersburg, passed away March 10, 2003, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
He is survived by one brother, Joel Waldron of Parkersburg; maternal grandparents, Chris and Marcella Waldron of Belleville, and Karen and John Cayton of Vienna; great-grandmothers, Betty McCleary and Wilma Starcher.

RAYMOND GEORGE WEST
CAIRO - Raymond George West, 78, of Nutter Farm Community, Cairo, departed this life and entered his eternal life Friday, March 14, 2003, at Parkersburg, after a brief illness.

Lillian J. Ball
FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Lillian J. Ball, 86, died Monday, March 10, 2003, at University Park Nursing Center in Fort Wayne, Ind.
She was born in Parkersburg and was a secretary with Fort Wayne Community schools for 30 years, retiring in 1985. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church.

Ruth Basham
WAVERLY Hall, Ga. - Ruth Sutherland Basham, 76, of Waverly Hall, Ga., died March 10, 2003, in Warm Springs, Ga.
She was born in Charleston, a daughter of the late Floyd and Flossie Keeney Sutherland.

Alvin E. Patterson
NEW MATAMORAS - Alvin Eugene "Gene" Patterson, 69, of New Matamoras died Monday, March 10, 2003.
He is survived by his mother, Marie; his wife, Marilyn, three stepsons, Brian, Todd, and Mark; two grandchildren; and his faithful dog, Princess.

Dorothy Walter
Dorothy "Jo" Walter, 77, of Belpre, died March 11, 2003, at the Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Cheshire, Ohio and was the daughter of the late Ralph Listen and Gusta Jane Tipton Burnette. She was a member of the Mullen Memorial Baptist Church. She volunteered for St. Joseph's Hospital for several years and spent a lot of her free time at the Belpre Public Library. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Middleport, Ohio.

Janet M. Williams
CHARLESTON - Janet Marie Williams, 60, of Charleston died March 10, 2003.
She is survived by three sisters, Trudee Kondos of Gambrills, Md., Donna Davidson of Gambrills, Md., and Karen Lawson of Ravenswood.

Frank B. Willis
WAVERLY - Frank B. Willis, 74, of Waverly passed away March 11, 2003, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
Frank was born in Waverly, a son of the late Marion B. and Della Haines Willis. He was a 57 year member of the Carpenters Local Union No. 899 and enjoyed farming.

Fannie M. Davis
PARKERSBURG - Fannie Marie Davis, 82, a resident of the Willows Nursing Center in Parkersburg, died Monday, March 10, 2003, at the nursing facility.
She was born Dec. 19, 1920, in Campbellsville, Ky., a daughter of the late Robert and Pearl (Dudgeon) Morrison. Mrs. Davis had retired from the Sylvania Electric Company of Winchester, Ky., where she was an operator. She enjoyed a good game of bingo and playing the horses. She was a Baptist by faith.

Mazie F. Elliott
WALKER - Mazie F. Elliott, 67, of Walker died March 9, 2003, at her residence.
She was born in Sistersville, a daughter of the late James and Mary Shuman. She attended the Church of Christ and was a homemaker.
