Roy Heater
Roy Heater, age 77 of Burnsville,WV departed life at 10:20 a.m., Friday May 21, 2004 at his residence following an extended illness. Born July 31, 1926 in Braxton County, son of the late Howard F. and Irene 'Sis' Helmick Heater. Mr. Heater was an Army Vet of the Korean Conflict, a former Construction worker, having worked on Interstate 79, and Burnsville Dam construction, a former Coal Miner, Telephone Co., and retired from T.A. Chapmans, and was a Methodist by faith. On January 1, 1955 Roy was united in marriage to the former Mary Carson Heater who survives at their Burnsville home. Surviving are 2 daughters and 4 sons: Charlene Messenger and husband Mike of Linn, W.V., Connie White and husband Geary of Sutton,W.V., Roy Junior Heater and wife Sandra of Orlando,W.V., Donald Heater and wife Bessie of Burnsville,W.V., Jamie Heater of Mineral Wells, W.V. 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren survive, also 1 brother and 2 sisters: Noah Junior Heater of Burnsville,W.V., Betty Colleen Nicholson of Burnsville,W.V., Edna Louise Heater of Burnsville,W.V. Mr Heater was preceded in death by 2 brothers Tom and Richard Heater and 1 great grandson Walter Robert Given. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, May 24, 2004 at the Ellyson Mortuary, Inc., Glenville,W.V. The Rev. Ronzel Roberts officiated. Burial followed the Canfield Cemetery on Sliding Run. Ellyson Mortuary, Inc., Glenville,W.V. assisted the family of Roy Heater with arrangements.

Gary Don Bosley
Gary Don Bosley, 59, of Burnsville,WV, died Saturday, May 22, 2004, at his home after a long illness. He was born Sept. 18, 1944, at Exchange, W.V., a son of the late Clyde & Waneda Blake Bosley. Gary was a timberman, oil man & construction worker. Surviving are wife, Elsie Cogar Bosley, daughters: Crystal Jarrett & husband Danny of Dry Branch, W.V., Sharon Berlo & husband Greg of Orlando, W.V., Shelly Dillon & husband Billy of Burnsville,W.V., sister; Vivian Ball of Tanner, WV, brothers; Windle Bosley of Burnsville,WV & Rondle Bosley of Corley, WV, half brothers; Shay Bosley of Clarksburg, WV, Jim Bosley of Arizona & Bill Posey of Linn, WV. 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Services were held Tuesday, May 25, 2004, at 1:30 p.m., in the Stockert-Gibson Funeral Homes. Burial followed in the Bosley Family Cemetery.

William Nicholas Wilburn, Sr.
William Nicholas Wilburn, Sr. 74, of Parkersburg, WV, formerly of Braxton County, died Thursday, May 19,2004, at the residence of his granddaughter in Parkersburg, WV. He was born on Thursday, December 19, 1929. He was a veteran of World War II and Korea. He also was the former owner of Braxton Exterminating. Mr. Wilburn was preceded in death by his wife, Joretta Wilburn and one brother and one sister. He is survived by sons; Edward Scott of Newark, DE, William 'Billy' Wilburn, Jr. of Sutton,WV, Allen Wayne Wilburn of Parkersburg, WV, Brian K, Wilburn of Flatwoods, WV, sisters; Loretta Bragg of Melbourne, FL, Dorothy Miller of Melbourne,FL, also 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Emma Ruth 'Doll' Marks
Emma Ruth 'Doll' Marks, 64, of Chapel Rt., Gassaway, died May 26, 2004 at St. Barbara's Memorial Nursing Home, Monongah. She was born September 2, 1939 a daughter of the late Clay and Ella Allen Marks. She was a homemaker and a member of the Crooked Fork Baptist Church. She is survived by brothers; Leonard Marks of Crooked Fork, Valgene Marks and Edward Marks both of Glenville; sisters, Goldie Hashman of Chapel Rt., Gassaway and June Evans of Glenville. Services were held on Friday, May 28 at the Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway. Elder Larry Fisher officiated the service, burial was in the Crooked Fork Church Cemetery.

Glenda Jean (McClain) Conley
Glenda Jean (McClain) Conley, 65, formerly of Arnoldsburg and Burnsville, went on her final journey to the lord on May 23, 2004. She was preceded to heaven by her husband Woodrow 'Woody' Clarence Conley, her son Woodrow Clarence Conley, Jr. her parents, Lovie Olive McClain and Schuyler Playford McClain and Brothers, Patrick, Delbert and Steve McClain. Surviving are two children, son, Gary Conley of Rockport,WV and daughter, Karen Conley-Dukes of Elizabeth,WV, sisters, Mae M. Johnson of Burnsville, WV and Eleanor L. Reese of Barberton, Ohio, brothers and sisters-in-law, Bert and Maxine McClain of Akron, Ohio, Roy and Peggy McClain of Cambridge,Ohio and sister-in-law, Madeline McClain of Akron, Ohio and Kim McClain of Barberton, Ohio. Surviving grandchildren are: Tiffany A. Conley, Jordie W. Brown, Jacob S. Conley, Mykaila Olive Dukes and Maddisyn M. Dukes all of Elizabeth, WV. There are too many to list who have been touched by her and called her 'mom' or 'grandma' and friend. Glenda was active in the Barnes Run Church and the Arnoldsburg Community Church for many years. Also, during her life, she attended the Trinity Church of God in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio and Weston Church of God in Weston, WV and visited many other churches in her lifetime service to God. Funeral services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, WV on May 27, 2004. Rev. Robert Johnson officiated. Interment was in the Husk Cemetery, Arnoldsburg.

Tonya S. 'Tammy' Davis Hissam
Tonya S.'Tammy' Davis Hissam, 39, of Birch River,WV died suddenly May 15, 2004 at her home. She was born December 26, 1964 in Gassaway, WV. She attended the Birch River Baptist Church, Birch River, WV. She was a homemaker and a classroom volunteer at the Birch River Elementary School. She was preceded in death by her mother, Wanda Lee Martin Davis, who died April 9, 1998. She is survived by her husband, Alvin E. Hissam; one son Matthew A. Hissam of Birch River, and his fiancee Shani Bragg; her father Vaughn L. Davis of Birch River; two brothers Timothy J. Davis of Birch River and Thomas V. Davis of Sutton, WV; one sister Teresa D. Conrad of Birch River. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 19, 2004 at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton,WV with Rev. Gary Walker officiating. Glenna Mae Taylor
Glenna Mae Taylor, 76, of Frametown, went home to be with the Lord on May 26, 2004. She was born May 25,1928 in Lincoln County, a daughter of the late Henry and Nancy Priddy Tudor. She was a seamstress and homemaker; a member of the Faith Missionary Baptist Church, Servia. Surviving are her husband of 56 years, Harold Joe Taylor; children, Brenda Walton and husband, Ron of Charleston, Billy Joe Taylor and wife, Nancy of Charleston, Debbie Mullins and husband, Robert of Huntersville, NC; grandchildren, Allan, Bobby, Eric, B.J., Melissa, Joel and Melody; great grandchildren, Nicklos and Kaleigh; sister, Anna Mae Breedlove of Lincoln County; her beloved dog, Cutter. Services were held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 29 at the Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Pastor Elder Robert Wood officiating. Burial was in the Sugar Creek Cemetery, Gassaway.

Lester F. Ellison
Lester F. Ellison, 79, of Sutton, WV, died June 16, 2004 in Braxton County Memorial Hospital, Gassaway, following a long illness. He was born March 1, 1925, in Braxton County, a son of the late Frank Ellison and Ada Jenkins. Mr. Ellison was a Baptist, U.S. Army veteran, retired coal miner and a past member of the UMWA. Also preceding him in death were two sisters. He is survived by his wife Marie Geraldine Ellison; 3 half brothers, Robert, Ralph and Roger Jenkins, all of Ohio; and 3 half sisters, Betty Butcher of Ohio, Alenell Baldwin of Morgantown, and Patty Grubb of Beckley. Funeral services were held Saturday, June 19, 2004 at 1 p.m. at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton, with Rev. Bobbie Harper officiating. Burial was in the Tinney Cemetery near Sutton. Funeral arrangements were handled by Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton.

Arden Lee Mollohan
Arden Lee Mollohan, 76, of Little Birch, WV, died at home on June 17, 2004. He was born in Lost Creek, WV, the son of the late Richard B. & Rosa Lucinda Dilly Mollohan. Mr. Mollohan was a Christian, a member of the Stump Chapel Church, and a veteran of the US Army Corp Occupational Forces in World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Post 15, former member of the Murphytown Lions Club, member of the Community Outreach Program and a 1946 graduate of Parkersburg High School. He worked for The Home Dairy of Parkersburg, then for Pure Milk and Fairmont Foods for most of his working years. He retired from Chemical Leeman Tank Lines in 1986. Also preceding him in death was one brother Dana Mollohan. He is survived by his wife, Anna Faye Mollohan of Little Birch; two sons, Gregory Schauble of Hickory, NC, Marvin Mollohan and wife, Anita, of Williamstown, WV; one daughter, Donna Hedrick and husband, Larry, of Green Hill; five sisters, Ruth Masters, Mildred Shock, Naomi Daugherty, Dorothy Heater, and Betty Consigli; grandchildren, Michael Mollohan and his wife, Mellissa, Alicia Mollohan and fiance Jay Morris, and Zachary and Jonah Congrove. Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 22, 2004 at 11 a.m. at the Stump Chapel Church, Tesla, WV, with Rev. Marvin Given officiating. Burial was in the Braxton County Cemetery near Sutton, WV, with military graveside rites by Post 33 of the American Legion. Funeral arrangements were by Greene-Robertson Funeral Home.

Russell R. Huffman
Russell R. Huffman, 79, of Cedarville, WV, passed away Monday, June 14, 2004 at Sunbridge Nursing Home, Glenville, WV after a long illness. He was born June 15, 1925 in Braxton County, WV. A son of the late Ernest C. and Ida Riffle Huffman, he was a coal miner, member of the U.M.W. and a Methodist by faith. He was preceded in death by: wife, Ethel I. Huffman in 1987. Also preceding him was son Donnie Huffman, brothers: Junior, Carl, Roy & Ralph Huffman, sister: Rena Godfrey, and 2 grandchildren. He is survived by: 3 daughters: Edith & husband Ed Perrine of Buckhannon, WV, Lula Belle & husband Larry Long of Gassaway, WV, Barbara & husband Mike Hoder of Baltimore, MD; 7 sons: Harlen & wife Rosalea Huffman of Gallipolis, OH, Delbert & wife Carol, Robert & wife Delma, Ralph & wife Kendra, all of Wheeling, WV, Bill & wife Debbie of Linn, WV, Denzil & wife Debbie of Coxs Mill, WV, Paul & wife Beth of Gassaway, WV; 3 sisters: Martha Godfrey of Burnsville, WV., Mary Keller of Linn, WV., Bonnie Riffle of Copen, WV; 3 brothers: Raymond Huffman of Copen, WV., Chester Huffman of Gem, WV, Jimmy Huffman of Cedarville, WV; 21 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Thursday, June 17th at the Stockert-Gibson Funeral Home, Flatwoods, WV, with Rev. Ronzel Roberts officiating. Burial followed in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Burnsville, WV.

Nellie Ware
Nellie Ware, age 87, of Ireland, WV, passed away Monday June 14, 2004 at Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital, Weston, WV. She was born Nov. 10, 1916 in Gilmer County, WV, a daughter of the late John & Lenora Yoak Williston. On July 19,1933 she married French 'Bill' Ware who preceded her in death on April 7, 1981.She was also preceded in death by 2 daughters, 1 sister, and 3 brothers. She is survived by her sister, Ruth Cannon of Ireland, WV, daughter, Joy Wimer of Ireland, WV, 2 sons: Billy and Danny Ware of Ireland, WV, 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. She was a Christian and a member of the Fall Run United Methodist Church, where she attended for over 80 years. Funeral services were Friday, June 18, 2004 at the Fall Run United Methodist Church, Ireland, WV., with Rev. Doug Smailes officiating. Burial followed in the Fall Run Cemetery, Ireland, WV.

Lester Williams
Lester Lee Williams, 65, a retired civil service electrician died Sunday, June 6, 2004 at his home. Lester was born in Glendale, California. He came to Brevard County in 1964 from Sutton, West Virginia. He was a graduate of Sutton High School class of 1959, attended Green Briar Military School, and retired from the U.S. Army in 1963. Lester worked as an electrician at Kennedy Space Center working with the Apollo Program, worked at the Mayport Naval Station, was a private pilot and he love boating and sailing. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Merritt Island. He was married to his high school sweetheart for 33 years. Lester is survived by his sons, David W. Williams, and Christopher Lee Williams: daughter, Tracy Lee Singer: mother, Mary Whitefield Williams: brothers; Kenneth J. Williams and Steven Williams; sister; Cheryl Houghton; two grandchildren, Jenna Williams and Anthony Williams. Funeral services were held Friday, June 12th, at the First Baptist Church of Merritt Island. Burial followed at Brevard Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Merritt Island.

Nellie Lea Jarvis
Nellie Lea Jarvis, 69, passed away on Saturday, May 22, 2004 at Barberton Citizens Hospital after a long illness. Nellie was born on January 15,1935 to Virgil & Freda Carr in Braxton County, West Virginia.She married Ordie Ray Jarvis on October 25,1953 and then moved to Akron, living there for 5 years before moving to Barberton. Nellie was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was very devoted to her family and friends. The thing that made her the happiest was helping raise her grandkids. She never turned down a chance to watch her grandchildren over night. She spoiled them with love and always told them how proud of each and everyone of them she was. Nellie fought to the bitter end but her body tired out and now she will be with the parents once again. Preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Charles Thornton; sister, Betty Flanders. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Ordie Ray Jarvis; son, Steven Jarvis of Sardis, Ohio; daughter, Cheryl (Tony) Catalanotto of Manchester; daughter-in-law, Karen Jarvis of Sardis, Ohio; grandchildren, Stacey (Andy) Beery, Charles Thornton, Sarah Jarvis; great grandson, Byrce Beery; siblings, Roy Carr & Ernie Carr of Barberton, Mary Smith of Newcomerstown, Eugene Cole & Patty Lockner of Florida; special cousin, Audrel (Bill) Brown of Springfield Township and also leaves numerous nieces nephews & friends. May she rest in peace. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, with Pastor Robert L. Webb officiating. Burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery.

Clifford Singleton
Clifford Singleton of Clarksburg, departed this like July 14. 2004 at the age of 90 years old. He was born at Heaters September 8, 1913. The son of the late Doce Singleton and Mamie Allen Singleton of Heaters. He was a mechanic by trade. He was proceeded in death by his wife, Juanita, 6 brothers, Delos, Percy, Basil all of Heaters, Dale of Flatwoods, Richard of Leavittstown, PA., Randal of Florence, S.C., 1 sister, Marie of Heaters. Surviving is 1 son , Thomas of Clarksburg, 1 sister, Biddie Duckworth of Gassaway, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. No visitation, he was cremated. Burial was in Floral Hill Cemetary at Clarksburg.

Jeffrey Alan Brown
Jeffrey Alan Brown, 38, of Tahelquah, OK, died October 1, 2004. He was born November 6, 1965 in Honolulu, Hawaii. He worked in the restaurant industry, enjoyed fishing and the outdoors, and loved visiting West Virginia. He is survived by sons, Jerry L. Brown and Michael W. Brown both of Marietta, GA; Mother and stepfather, Donna Seal Romriell and Gary Romriell of Tahlequah, OK; brother, Michael V. Brown of Hiram, GA; sister, Robin C. Brown of Tahlequah, OK. He was preceded in death by his father, Warren W. Brown. Services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 8 at the Pleasantdale United Methodist Church, Riffle. Burial was in the Riffle Cemetery.

James Henry Morris
James Henry Morris, 46, of Birch River died at home on October 6, 2004. He was born in Braxton County on September 30, 1958. Mr. Morris was a member of the Birch River Baptist Church, was a U.S. Army Veteran and was a carpenter. He loved to hunt, fish and go to church. He was preceded in death by his father Henry Gaylord Morris. He is survived by his mother Marcalene Shaver Morris of Birch River; 3 sons Phillip Ray Morris at home, Matthew James Morris and Christopher Nathan Morris of Virginia; 1 brother Gaylord Wayne Morris and wife Beth of Birch River, West Virginia; 1 sister Marsha Gail Rader and husband Douglas of Summersville, West Virginia; and four nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 10:00 am Saturday, October 9, 2004 at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton, West Virginia with Rev. Kenneth Adkins and Rev. Marshall Crowder officiating. Burial was in the Morris Family Cemetery, Morris, West Virginia.

Nora E. Moore Lester
Nora E. Moore Lester, 69, of Buckhannon, West Virginia died October 6, 2004 in United Hospital Center, Clarksburg, West Virginia following a brief illness. She was born January 7, 1935 in Little Birch, West Virginia the daughter of the late Conley and Cora Criss Harris. She was a Baptist by faith. Mrs Lester was formerly employed by Ben Franklin Store and owned Nora’s Fabrics in Sutton, West Virginia; and retired from Walmart in Buckhannon. She enjoyed sewing, being with friends and family, playing music and singing. She loved the ocean. Also preceding her in death were two husbands, William Moore and John Lester; one brother Oscar Harris and 2 sisters Esel Smallwood and Ethel Dennison. She is survived by her son Eugene E. Moore of Buckhannon, West Virginia; 1 brother Jearl Harris of Sutton; 4 grandchildren Mac Harris and wife Sarah of Clarksburg, Christopher E. Moore, Jonathan E. Moore and Brandy E. Moore of Buckhannon; and 2 great grandchildren Josh Flesher and Kelsey Flesher of Clarksburg. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 8, 2004 at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton, WV with Rev. Bobbie Harper officiating. Burial was in the Braxton County Cemetery near Sutton, WV.

Marvel M. Browning
Marvel M. Browning, 90, of Strange Creek, WV went home to be with her Lord, Thursday, October 7, 2004 at her home, following a long illness. She was born August 17, 1914 in Braxton County, a daughter of the late Cleo and Leota Helmick Teets. Marvel was an active member of the Strange Creek United Methodist Church with many years of loyal service as a teacher of the Nursery Class, where she touched many young lives for the Lord. She also served as Sunday School Superintendent, filling in the position her husband vacated upon his death. Surviving are three daughters; Glenda Bogges and husband, Doyle of Nitro, Wanda Woods and husband, Darrell of Leroy, WV, Judy Hughes and husband, John of Port Washington, OH; three sons, Terry BRowning and wife, Nona and Larry Browning and wife, Jewel of Strange Creek; brother, Medford Teets and wife, Thelma of Strange Creek; sister, Marjorie young of Strange Creek; 29 grandchildren, 68 grandchildren and 18 great great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Tessa Shawver and husband Roy of Nitro. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by husband, Denver Browning in 1975; daughter Joretta; son, Gary and infant son, Donnie. Marvel is also survived by a host of relatives and friends and was loved and admired by all those whose lives she touched by her kind and gentle ways and especially her testimony of her loving Lord and Savior. Service will be 11 A.M. Monday, October 11 at the Strange Creek United Methodist Church with Rev. Roger Dunlap and Rev. Johnny Ray Conrad officiating. Burial will be in the Walker Cemetery, Strange Creek. Friends may call from 6 to 9 P.M. Sunday at the Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway and one hour prior to the service a the church.

Audrey Joyce Moore
Audrey Joyce Moore, 56, of 199 Boon Robinson Road, Patriot, Indiana and wife of Frank Moore, died of natural causes Friday, October 8, 2004 at 9:05 P.M. Mrs. Moore was born in Charleston, West Virginia onSeptember 23, 1948 by mother Dorothy Inez (Adams) Nobleand father Ned Noble. She married Frank Moore, a pastor of Grant’s Creek Baptist Church, on November 9, 1968. Mrs. Moore graduated from East Bank High School in West Virginia and studied two years in Beauty school. Mrs. Moore’s primary occupation was as a homemaker though also worked and volunteered for the Pregnancy Care Center in Lawrenceburg, Indiana and worked as a hairdresser. Mrs. Moore was a member of the Alzheimers Support Group BoardMarvel M. Browning and Grant’s Creek Baptist Church in Rising Sun, Indiana where she formerly taught Sunday school and headed the church’s Lady’s Group. A Religious Funeral Service was held on Monday, October 11, 2004 at 8:00 P.M. at the Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, Indiana. Officiating he Funeral service was Brother Dean Gooch. Audrey Joyce Moore’s burial was at Harper Cemetery in Little Birch, WV where graveside services were held Tuesday, October 12, 2004 at 2:00 P.M. All arrangements were made by Markland Funeral home of Rising Sun, Indiana. Donations can go to Grant’s Creek Baptist Church.

Raymond L. Allen
Raymond L. Allen, 74. of Cleveland, OH, passed away Sunday November 21, 2004 at Lutheran Hospital in Cleveland, OH. He was born September 20, 1930 a son of the late Charlie Allen and Edna Marie (Riffle) Allen. He was retired from General Motors Corp., a Korean war army veteran with a Purple Heart and Bronze Star, he was a Protestant, and a member of the V.F.W. He is survived by; his wife, Noretta Patty Allen of Cleveland, Ohio, 2 daughters, Patricia Williams and husband Ernie of Cleveland, Ohio, Edna K. Hock of Cleveland, Ohio. 3 sons, Rev. Paul Allen & wife Shirley of Cleveland, Ohio, Jerry Allen of Cleveland, Ohio. Step daughter Doretha Collins of Oakhill, West Virginia. 2 sisters, 6 brothers, 7 grandchildren, & 1 great grandchild. He was preceded in death by 1 sister and 3 brothers. Funeral services were 10:00 am Wednesday, November 24, 2004 at the Stockert-Gibson Funeral Home, Flatwoods, West Virginia, with Rev. Delmas Singleton officiated. Burial was in the Little Kanawha Memorial Gardens, Heaters, West Virginia.

Sylvia Belle Batton
Sylvia Belle Batton, 93, of Fairmont died on Friday, November 19, 2004 at Wishing Well Health Center. She was born in Braxton County on September 19, 1911 a daughter of the late Charles and Alice Evans McNemar. She was a loving mother and homemaker. She was a member of Colfax United Methodist Church. Sylvia loved flowers, gardening and watching her birds. In earlier years she was well known for the potato salad, homemade bread and her sewing. Most of all Sylvia loved her family and friends. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and Shannon Braddock of Silver Spring, Maryland and Karen and Lawrence “Buck” Criss of Fairmont, two grandchildren Michael Criss of Fairmont and Jennifer Falcon and her husband Carlos of Olney, Maryland; four great grandchildren Nikki Criss, Brandon Criss, Kristina Falcon and Carlos Falcon II and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Wayne O. Batton who died January 21, 1994; five brothers Guy McNemar, Earl McNemar, Dorsey McNemar, Lawrence McNemar, and Harvey McNemar and three sisters Pearl Leaseburg, Mary Robinson and Olive Godfrey. Funeral services were held at the Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, Fairmont, West Virginia on Monday, November 22, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jim Zinn officiating, with burial at Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Pete Blake, Jr.
Pete Blake, Jr., 64, of Burnsville, WV., passed away Monday November 22, 2004 at home after a short illness. He was born September 9, 1940 at Burnsville, WV. A son of the late Pete Edward Blake and Fannie (Riffle) Blake. He is survived by: His wife, Connie J. Blake of Burnsville, WV. Daughter, Suzanne Blake Ratliff and husband Steve of Fort Howard MD. Son, Glen Edward Blake and wife Racheal of Burnsville, WV. 3 sisters, and 3 brothers. 3 grandchildren, Andrew Ratliff, Olivia Yeomans, & Grace Blake. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Wednesday November 24, 2004 at the Stockert-Gibson Funeral Home Flatwoods, WV., with Rev. Tim Kelley officiating. Burial will be in K. of P. Cemetery Burnsville, WV., and friends may call 2 hours before service time at the Funeral Home.

Jerry C. Singleton
Jerry C. Singleton, 45, of Burnsville, West Virginia, died November 24, 2004, in the Cleveland Clinic, at Cleveland, Ohio, after a long illness. He was born April 17, 1959, at Sutton, West Virginia, the son of Lester Singleton of Burnsville, and Lillian Marie Conley Singleton of Cleveland, Ohio. He was a disabled construction carpenter. In addition to his parents his survivors are; wife; Deana Fox Singleton, children; Casey & Dustin Singleton & Michelle, Joanie & Stephanie Wilfong all of Burnsville, West Virginia, grandmother; Doll Singleton of Burnsville, West Virginia and brother; Rick Singleton of Cleveland, Ohio, grandchildren; Joey, Julie & Jacie Wilfong & Desirae Thomas. The funeral services followed visitation on November 28, 2004, at the Stockert-Gibson Funeral Home at Flatwoods, West Virginia, with Pastor Johnnie Verton officiating. Following the service the body was cremated.

Alma Brohard
Alma Brohard, 92, of Cross Lanes, formerly of Gassaway, died November 24, 2004 at Thomas Memorial Hospital. She was born November 18, 1912 in Braxton County, a daughter of the late William and Rosa Showalter Brohard. She was a beauty shop owner for 30 years in Gassaway and a Methodist. Surviving a brother, Dayton Brohard of Cross Lanes; and several nieces and nephews. Services were held Monday, November 29 at the Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Rev. Larry Conrad officiating. Burial was in the Sugar Creek Cemetery, Gassaway.
