He was a retired electrician, formerly employed by Amherst Coal Co., Shamrock Coal Co. and Arch Mineral Coal Co., was a member of Becco United Baptist Church where he was a deacon and trustee, was a member of the UMW District 17 and was an Army veteran of World War II. Surviving: wife, Dorothy Gilliam Crawford; sons, Kenneth and Danny of Amherstdale, Roger of Wise, Va., David III of Accoville; sister, Mary McNeely of Newport, Wash.; brothers, Tommy of Virginia, Herbert ofOklahoma; four grandddaughters, one great-granddaughter. Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Becco United Baptist Church, Becco, with the Rev. Denver McClellan Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Pecks Mill. WIDE -- Orval Hobert Dodrill, 72, of Widen died Wednesday, April 29, 1998, in Summersville Memorial Hospital after a long illness. He was a retired miner and bulldozer operator from Margaret-Peerless coal Co., an Army veteran and a recipient of the Purple Heart. Surviving: daughters, Rebecca Jones of Gassaway, Cindy Davis and Tammy Nester of Charleston, Ramona Farley of Widen, Kitty Thaxton of Looneyville, Kathy Smith of Dille; brother, Lloyd Dodrill of Bridgeport; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. Robert Edmonds, 78, of Charleston died Thursday, April 30, 1998, in St. Francis Hospital after a short illness. He was an Army veteran of World War II, a former employee of Fletcher Enamel and Birch Transfer Co., and retired from the Kanawha County Board of Education. Surviving: wife, Betty Edmonds; son, Ronald of Charleston; stepson, Jimmy Arehart of Charleston; daughter, Carolyn Legg of Charleston; stepdaughters, Evelyn Hamilton and Faye Stover of Charleston; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren. She was born in Summers County, was a retail salesperson, a member of First Baptist Church of Beaver, and worked in Detroit, Mich., for many years before returning to Beckley. Surviving: sister, Sadie Barker of Beckley; brother, Clyde Meadows of Hinton; several nieces and nephews. Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, with the Rev. Roger E. William George Hager, 62, of Charleston died Tuesday, April 21, 1998 in a Glasgow nursing home after a long illness. BECKLEY -- Faye Taylor Hall, 91, of Beckley died Thursday, April 30, 1998, in a Beckley hospital after a long illness. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and was a social worker during the Depression, making her rounds by horseback. She served in the Army during World War II as a surgical technician, retired from the West Virginia Tuberculosis Association, was a member of Beckley First Baptist Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, Flowering Hills Garden Club and Beckley Woman's Club. Surviving: half-sisters, Norma Stump of Beaver, Pearl Crews of Winston-Salem, N.C.; several nieces and nephews. Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Melton Mortuary, Beckley, with the Rev. Earl D. He was born in Minnora, was owner of Jarvis Radio and Television Repair in Madison, retired in 1986 as manager of Bettervision Cable System with 10 years of service, was a member of Madison United Methodist Church, Madison Rotary Club, Boone Lodge 170 of Independent Order of Odd Fellows, VFW Post 5578 and Charleston Ostomy Association. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. She was a former cook at the Governor's Mansion, a member of Riverview Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a former president and member of the Hymnal Choir, and was a member of the Elks Club. He was born in Organ Cave, lived most of his life in Sinks Grove, was a farmer and a member of Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church, Sinks Grove, where he was an elder and Sunday school teacher. Surviving: wife, Sue Canterbury Miller; daughters, Patty M. Dunbar of Sinks Grove, Pamela L. Miller of Alderson; brother, Robert C. of Sinks Grove; two grandsons. He was a retired railroad brakeman for C&O Railroad for more than 47 years, a member of United Transportation Union and of the Church of God faith.
