OAK HILL -- William Edward "Bill" Meador of Oak Hill, died Thursday, May 7, 1998, at home after a short illness. He was a vice president and general manager for the Long Company. He was on the executive board of directors for the National Coal Association and was on the board of directors of One Valley Bank, Oak Hill, the American Mining Congress, the West Virginia Coal Association and the Kanawha Valley and Tug Valley mining institutes. He was a graduate of Mullens High School and Virginia Polytechnic Institute. He was a Baptist and an Army veteran, having been a member of the 101st Airborne Division. Surviving: wife, Wanda Cafego Meador; sons, William Edward Meador II of Birmingham, Ala., Eric D. Meador of Summersville; grandchildren; Jeremy, William and Ian Meador, all of Birmingham. She was former president of the Ladies Auxiliary of St. Albans American Legion Post 73, a member of the VFW Auxiliary 6318, St. Albans Women of the Moose Lodge 868, St. Albans Women's Club, Department of Community Service and the Ostemey Club.
