Athalee Haynes, 74, of Pocatalico died Tuesday, May 12, 1998, in St. Francis Hospital after a long illness. She was a native of Nicholas County, a member of Fenwick Mountain Freewill Baptist Church and a retired nurse. Surviving: son, Franklin Haynes of South Charleston; daughter, Nancy Griffith of South Charleston; two grandsons; one great-grandson. She was a student at Calhoun County High School and a Protestant. Surviving: stepfather and mother, Billy D. and Becky Dye King of Leatherbark; father and stepmother, Richard Lee and Leigh Hunt of Evans; sisters, Kathy Sue Hunt of Kentuck, Rhonda Kay Hively of Elizabeth; brothers, Elmer Brian of Ripley, Kenny Lee of Kentuck, Kevin Wayne of Hartville, Ohio, Richard Lee "Bub" of Denmar; maternal grandmother, Mina Rhodes of Charleston. He was a disabled coal truck driver and was of the Church of God faith. He was a retired coal miner, a member of the UMW and VFW Post 6942, Griffithsville, and was an Army veteran of World War II. Surviving: daughters, Anita Templeton, Wanda Woodrum and Vannessa Spence of Sweetland, Loreeta Gail Bowman of Buckhannon; sons, Larry Caudill of Uneeda, Lowell Woodrum Jr of Brooks, Ky., Eddie Vannater of Louisville, Ky.; sister, Lois Meadows of Bald Knob; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren. She was born in Amma, Roane County, was a retired vice president of Farmers and Citizens State Bank and a member of the Board of Directors. She was a member of Clendenin United Methodist Church where she served on the administrative board, member of Clendenin United Methodist Women and Merry Workers Circle, was a member of Clendenin Women's Club, a member and past Worthy Matron of Thelma Chapter 24 Order of the Eastern Star, a graduate of West Virginia School of Banking, Jacksons Mill, and a graduate of Marshall College, Huntington. She was preceded in death by husband, Mark "Bud" Young. Surviving: son, Phillip G. Young of Largo, Fla.; daughters, Karen Sue Buskirk of South Point, Ohio, Marsha Humphreys of Falling Rock; brother, James P. "Buck" Geary Sr. of Petersburg; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Clendenin United Methodist Church with the Rev. C. Harold Smith and the Rev. Robert Earl Blomberg, 77, of Dunbar died Wednesday, May 13, 1998, in CAMC, Memorial Division after a long illness. He was retired from Hall's Trucking, a member of the Teamsters Local 175 and a veteran of World War II. Surviving: daughter, Sharon Sydenstricker of Tierra Verde, Fla.; stepdaughter, Jo Ann Vealy of Charleston; brother, Willis Wilson of Ceredo; sister, Gladys Gibson of Chapmanville; granddaughter, Linda Ferrell Barnette of Seth; four stepgrandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The body was donated to the Human Gift Registry at West Virginia University. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
