SCOTT DEPOT -- Villa Riddle, 90, of Scott Depot, formerly of St. Albans, died Thursday, May 21, 1998, in Putnam General Hospital, Hurricane, after a short illness. She was a former restaurant cook in St. Albans and was a Baptist.

MADISON -- Corrine Touchberry Scott, 78, of Madison, Boone County, died Thursday May 21, 1998, in CAMC, Memorial Division, after a short illness. She was a Boone County Home Health Nurse a member of the Madison Baptist Church, where she served as a deacon and chairperson of the flower committee. She was a member of the Wildwood Garden Club, a graduate of Gallingher Hospital School of Nursing and a member of the Audubon Society. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. James Muncy Scott.
Surviving: son, James M. Scott Jr. of Beckley; daughters, Lynda Marie Scott of Princeton, Ruth Diana Scott Knabb of Madison; brother, Dr. Robert W. Touchberry of Ely, Iowa; sisters, Ester T. James E. Shered Jr., 74, of Charleston died Tuesday, May 19, 1998, in Sunshine Nursing Home after a long illness. He was a graduate of Simmons High School, a member of Firemen and Oil Workers Union, a retired offset printer from the state of West Virginia, a former C&O Railroad worker in Handley and a member and deacon of Handley Baptist Church.

CLAYTON, N.C. -- Opal Brooks Sizemore, 84, of Clayton, formerly of Pierpont, W.Va., died Thursday, May 21, 1998, in a Beckley, W.Va., hospital after a long illness. She was a former nurses aide at Wyoming General Hospital and a member of Maben (W.Va.) Methodist Church.

POINT PLEASANT -- Robert Okey Slayton, 82, of Point Pleasant died Friday, May 22, 1998, in Pleasant Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was a member of American Legion Post 23, Point Pleasant, and the Kentucky Colonels, a former diesel auto mechanic for Bobby Layman Chevrolet, Columbus, Ohio, former assistant pastor of Lilly Chapel Lighthouse Church, Lilly Chapel, Ohio, and an Army veteran of World War II, having served with the military police.
Surviving: son, Ralph Slayton of Columbus; brother, Randall Slayton of Fort Worth, Texas; sisters, Opal Dunn of Vinton, Ohio, Mary Hesson of Pliny; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. He was a graduate of Sissonville High School and West Virginia University, a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, a Protestant and an engineering consultant for a computer company.

BARTLEY -- Drexel Adkins Sr., 68, of Bartley, McDowell County, died May 22, 1998, in Welch Emergency Hospital. He was a 40-year resident of Bartley and a retired miner from Island Creek Coal Co. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of UMW and Bartley Fellowship Church of God, where he was also Sunday school teacher and in the Men's Fellowship.
Surviving: wife, Sue Carol Mann Adkins; son, Drexel Jr. of Bartley; daughters, Dana Kay Spainhour and Kimberly Sue Kay, both of Charleston; sister, Wilma Johnston of Salem, Va.; six grandchildren. William Karnes Bodell II
FRANKFORT, Ky. -- William Karnes Bodell II, 52, of Frankfort died May 23, 1998, at home. He was a partner in the law firm of Jackson & Kelly, Lexington, and Charleston, W.Va. He served as staff atorney for the Cabinets of Transportation and Finance and was assistant general counsel for Occidental Petroleum. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the American Bar Association and Fayette County Bar Association.
Surviving: wife, Nancy Carr Dunning Bodell; sons, William Karnes III and Benjamin Carr Bodell, both of Frankfort; mother, Ruth Mauk Bodell of Frankfort; brother, Robert Mark Bodell of Boyds, Md.; two grandchildren. Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at South Frankfort Presbyterian Church, Frankfort. An additional service will be 8 p.m. Tuesday at Rogers Funeral Home, Frankfort. James Kenneth Kingery, 80, of Sissonville died May 23, 1998, in Riverside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a long illness. He was retired from Cabot Gas and a lifelong resident of Sissonville.

He was a member of Forrest Burdette Memorial United Methodist Church, Hurricane, and was retired from Union Carbide, South Charleston Plant, with 33 years' service. He was a 32-year resident of Scott Depot, a graduate of Morris Harvey College, Charleston, and was a veteran of World War II.

HURRICANE -- Charles Dale Smith, 86, of Hurricane died May 22, 1998, in Putnam General Hospital, Hurricane, after a long illness. He was a charter member of St. John United Methodist Church, Scott Depot, a former employee of Baldwin Supply, Charleston, and was retired from John Amos Power Plant. He was a charter member of the West Virginia Horseman Association, a former Civitan, a 36-year resident of Teays Valley, and a Navy veteran of World War II.
Surviving: wife, Lula Cruikshank Smith; several nieces and nephews. Service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Chapman Funeral Home, Teays Valley, with the Rev. L. Frank Frye officiating.
