Claude E. Keenan GAULEY BRIDGE -- The Rev. Claude E. "Fisher" Keenan,75, of Gauley Bridge, Fayette County, died Friday, Aug. 4, 2000, in Thomas Memorial Hospital after a short illness. He retired from the Fayette County Board of Education, was a former member of the Fayette County Democratic Executive Committee, an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and a member and deacon at Swiss Missionary Baptist Church. He was a Baptist minister having formerly pastored Sycamore Community Baptist Church, Indore, Swiss Missionary Baptist Church, Blakely Community Church, Cunard Baptist Church, Kanawha Falls Baptist Church, Evergreen Baptist Church, Romont, and Lyonsville Baptist Church.

Lanty R. Scott Lanty Roy Scott, 80, of Cottle, Nicholas County, died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2000, in Summersville Memorial Hospital after a longillness. He was a coal mine machinist, a mechanic for Craigsville Texaco, a member of Craigsville VFW, an Army veteran of World War II and a graduate of Nicholas County High School. He was a member of Cottle Church of God, where he was a Sunday school teacher and Sunday school superintendent for several years.
Surviving: wife, Beatrice J. Scott; daughters, Sherrell Walker of Cottle, Karen McClure of Nettie; sons, Lanty Homer of Cottle; 10 grandchildren; six great- grandchildren. Richard O. Spurlock POINT PLEASANT -- Richard Oxley Spurlock, 77, of Point Pleasant died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2000, in Pleasant Valley Hospital. He was retired from the Asbestos Workers Union, was an Army veteran of World War II, a recipient of the Bronze Star and a member of American Legion Post 23, Point Pleasant.

He was a former five-term mayor of Richwood, a retired probation officer from the 28th Judicial Circuit of West Virginia, a former employee of Richwood Bakery and a member of the Isaac Walton League, Richwood Presbyterian Church and Richwood Chamber of Commerce.

She was born in Sharon, Kanawha County, W.Va., and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by parents, George and Virginia Colley Falin.

Thomas R. Bronz HOLDEN -- Thomas R. Bronz, 64, of Holden, Logan County, died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000, in St. Mary's Hospital, Huntington. He retired from the Air Force and was a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America.

John D. Charnabay SCARBRO -- John Daniel Charnabay, 66, of Scarbro, Fayette County, died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000, at home after an apparent heart attack. He retired from the Air Force and from the Fayette County Sheriff's Department. He was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Oak Hill, Moose Lodge 1664, Masonic Lodge 120, Oak Hill, Royal Arch Masons Chapter 13, Charleston, Knights Templar Commandry 4, Beni Kedem Shrine, Charleston, Scottish Rite Bodies, the International Shrine Clown Association, Charleston, the Fayette County Shrine Club, the Fayette County Sportsmen's Association, the VFW and the American Legion.

She was a former teacher at Camden-on-Gauley Elementary School, a 4-H leader, past president of Webster County Senior Citizens and the Methodist Women's Association and was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, Camden-on- Gauley.
Surviving: sons, Steven, Brit and Daniel of Camden-on-Gauley; daughters, Angela Frye and Kay Cobb of Camden-on-Gauley; brothers, Edsel "Skipper" and Keith Roberts of Boggs, Wayland Roberts of Valley City, Calif.; sister, Kay Vannost of Ravenswood; two granddaughters. Lucille H. Fain Lucille Horn Fain, 81, of St. Albans, formerly of Clifton Forge, Va., died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000, in Valley Health Village, South Charleston, after a short illness. She was a homemaker, a licensed minister with Appalachian District of The Assemblies of God and was a member of Clifton Forge Assembly of God. She was a one-year resident of St. Albans.
