She was retired from Pinecrest Hospital with 16 years of service, was a former cook at Sand Branch Elementary School and was a member of North Sand Branch Baptist Church. Surviving: son, Dale; daughter, Margaret Ann Davis; sister, Hallie Painter; brother, Damon Williams; caregiver, Debbie Lambert; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. Service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Prosperity, with Jerry Tyree and Dean Russell officiating. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Tommy K. McNew
Tommy K. McNew, 59, of Charleston, died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, at the home of his fiancee, Joanne Czeck. He was born Jan. 11, 1941, in Richmond, Ind., where he spent most of his life. A 1960 graduate of Richmond High School, he had been an employee of Wayne Corp., Stevens Wire Products, and formerly owned McNew's Boat Service. He was a former member of United Auto Workers Local 721, and Steel Workers of America Local 2156. He was a member of Cornerstone Assembly of God, Cross Lanes. Also surviving: children, Tomi "Bear" McNew of Richmond, Terri Reeves of Centerville, Ind., Tami Boyd of Dayton, Ohio, Toni McNew of Portland, Ind.; brother, Mike McNew of New Paris, Ohio; sisters, Vicki Comtois of Massachusetts; Nancy Sartain of Richmond; ten grandchildren; one great- grandchild. Services were Aug. 16, 2000 at Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Home, Richmond. Burial was in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, Boston. Elk Funeral Home, Charleston was in charge of local arrangements.

Destiny A. Miller
Destiny Annamarie Miller, infant daughter of Chip Niday and Tina Miller of South Charleston, was stillborn Sunday, Aug. 12, 2000, in CAMC Women and Children's Hospital. Also surviving: brother, Timothy Miller at home; sister, Brittney Miller at home; maternal grandparents, David and Sue Miller of South Charleston; paternal grandparents, David Casto of South Charleston, Pam Hathaway of Hurricane. Amie Newell, 78, of Dunbar died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000, in Valley Health Village, South Charleston, after a long illness. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Denver D. Newell and son, Roger D. Newell. Surviving: sisters, MaymeWalker of Columbus, Ohio, Arlene Price of Charleston; brothers, Troy Pauley of Alum Creek, SoderPauley of Florida, Billy Pauley of West Virginia; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Co., a member of Mountain State Baptist Church, Summersville, and Beta Sigma Phi, secretary and treasurer of the Summersville Optimist Club and president of the Summersville AARP chapter. Surviving: husband, Frank Phelps; sons, Bob of Albuquerque, Roger of Birch River; sister, Corrine Chris of Roanoke; five grandchildren; three great- grandchildren. He was a retired minister, a former employee of the Mason County Board of Education and had served in the Civilian Conservation Corps. Henry S. "Butch" Walker, 64, of Dunbar, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000, in Thomas Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. He was an employee of A&P Grocery stores for more than 30 years. He was a member of Allen's Fork Community Church, served in the Marine Reserves, and was a resident of Dunbar for 16 years. Surviving: wife, Patricia Walker; sons, Timothy S. of Sissonville, Terry Ray and Larry Lee of Dunbar; daughter Crystal Ann Walker of Dunbar; sisters, Norma Campbell of Cross Lanes, Wanda Legg of Charleston; four granddaughters; two step-granddaughters; two great-granddaughters. Surviving: daughters, Peggy Chambers of Cave Spring, Mary Ann Anderson and Marion Lee Black, both of Michigan; son, Robert Lee Anderson of Michigan; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Wilma G. Carte, 88, of Nitro died Friday, Aug. 18, 2000, in Thomas Memorial Hospital after a short illness. She was a homemaker, native of Crown Hill, Putnam County, and was a member of Nitro Church of God. Surviving: sons, Edward Carte of Beckley, David Lynn Carte of Nitro; sister, Emma Belle Call of Huntington; nephew, Lonnie "Brother" Kilgore of Nitro; several nieces and nephews. Marilyn T. Daniell, 64, of St. Albans died Friday, Aug. 18, 2000, at home from cancer. She was a music teacher in voice and violin, and was a member of Humphrey's Memorial United Methodist Church, Tornado. Surviving: husband, Dr. Paul L. Daniell; son, Dr. Paul T. Daniell of Tornado; mother, Thelma Butman of Toms River, N.J.; sister, Janet Butman of Toms River; two grandchildren. She was a retired schoolteacher with 33 years of service, having taught in Lewis, Roane and Kanawha counties in West Virginia. She was a graduate of West Virginia University and member of Phi Sigma Alpha. She was a member of Charleston and Kanawha City Homemakers Club.
