Alvin Perry
EAST LYNN - Alvin Perry, 86, of Route 1, East Lynn, died Nov. 8, 2002, in St. Mary's Hospital, Huntington. Alvin was born March 27, 1916, at East Lynn, a son of the late Ira J. and Sarah Ann Finley Perry. He was also preceded in death by his wife of over 68 years, Ona Belle Simpkins Perry, on Sept. 5, 2002; a son, Eugene Thomas Perry; and brothers, Walter, Wetzel, Irvin and infant Marion Perry. Alvin was a farmer, a retired Wayne County school bus driver and a friend and neighbor to all in his community. He was a member of Wolf Pen Church of Christ. Surviving are four sons and daughters-in-law, Eldreth "Buddy" and Olive Perry and Eldon and Ilena Perry, all of East Lynn, Noah and Louise Perry of Buffalo, Henry Douglas and Ann Perry of Patriot, Ohio; two daughters and sons-in-law, Ella Mae and Harold Poindexter of Huntington, Erma Lee and Corney Lett of Proctorville, Ohio; sister, Ida Mae Adkins of East Lynn; sisters-in-law, Delsa Langhurst and Ella Johnson, both of Wayne; brother-in-law, Jeff Johnson of Wayne; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11, at Johnson Nichols Funeral Home, Wayne, with the Rev. Eddie McComas, the Rev. David Lee Adkins and Andrew Perry officiating. Burial will follow at the Alvin Perry Farm Cemetery, Route 1, East Lynn. Friends may call one hour prior to service at Johnson Nichols Funeral Home, Wayne. Grandsons and grandsons-in-law will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Wolf Pen Church of Christ, Rt. 1 Box 170, East Lynn, WV 25512, or to the charity of your choice. The family wishes to express very special thanks to Dr. Shawn W. Coffman for his excellent care of Dad. Special thanks also to the Rev. Gary Patton and the nurses and staff of St. Mary's Hospital for their love, concern and care for Dad and our entire family.

John Brian Price
John Brian Price, 41, of Charleston died Nov. 8, 2002, in Tarpon Springs, Fla., after a short illness. He had been employed by Syscan Inc. and was a 1979 graduate of Charleston High School. John enjoyed his life, especially his sports. He was a lifelong fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Pittsburgh Pirates, the West Virginia Mountaineers and most recently became a fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. John was most happy when he was watching or listening to a game. He was a special person to us all and he always was more concerned about others than himself. We should all strive to be more like John. He is survived by his sister, Karen Price of Charleston; brothers and a sister-in-law, Tom and Catherine Price of Tarpon Springs, Fla., Mike and Brad Price, both of Charleston, Randy Price of Elkins; sisters-in-law, Donna Price and Toni Estep, both of Charleston. Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, at Baptist Temple, Charleston, with Dr. Dennis Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Barlow-Bonsall Funeral Home, Charleston. In lieu of flowers and in memory of John, we have established the John B. Price Memorial Fund at Baptist Temple, 209 Morris St., Charleston, WV 25301. Contributions to this fund will go for improvements to the gymnasium where John and his brothers and his friends spent many hours of their youth playing basketball. John wanted to provide a safe place for the children of Baptist Temple and Charleston's East End to enjoy the sport that he so enjoyed during his life. Clara Mae Rife
Clara Mae Rife, 60, of Charleston died Nov. 9, 2002, in CAMC Memorial Hospital. She was retired from Blue Cross/Blue Shield and was a member of Living Word Christian Center, Charleston. Surviving are a son, Steven Rife of Charleston; daughter, Kimberly High of Carpentersville, Ill.; brothers, William, David and Dana Trimble, all of Tornado, Ellis Trimble of Arlington, Texas, John Mark Trimble of St. Marys; sisters, Mary Mandeville of Clinton, Ohio, Nancy Keith of Kansas City, Kan., Martha Landon of Tornado, Kay Angle of South Charleston; two grandchildren, Nicholas of Carpenterville, Ill., Jessica Angle of South Charleston. Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, at Good Shepherd Mortuary, South Charleston, with the Rev. Kay Lowther officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the mortuary.

Mr. Gordon Lyle Sayre
Mr. Gordon Lyle Sayre, 87, of St. Albans died Nov. 8, 2002, at his residence. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, St. Albans and was retired from Union Carbide, Institute Plant with 27 1/2 years of service. He was a member of the WBCI-Airstream Club. Mr. Sayre was born Feb. 17, 1915, in Iowa, a son of the late Edgar and Lattie Sayre. He is also preceded in death by his brothers, Dwight and Dorn, as well as his sister, Grace Crawford. Surviving are his wife, Virginia Sayre; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Linda Sayre of Scott Depot; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11, at Bartlett-Chapman Funeral Home, St. Albans with the Rev. Allen Stewart officiating. Burial will be in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans. C. A. "Tom" VandeLinde
MADISON - C. A. "Tom" VandeLinde, 87, of Madison died Nov. 8, 2002. Born April 27, 1915, in Madison, he was the son of the late Henry C. and Annie Miller VandeLinde. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Nellie G. Camp VandeLinde. Mr. VandeLinde was a retired heavy equipment operator from the Engineers Union in Washington, D.C., and was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater. Survivors include his son, Tommy Allen VandeLinde of Virginia Beach, Va.; stepson, Lawrence Vincent of Columbia, S.C.; daughter, Anna Mae Furman VandeLinde of Daleville, Va.; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two adopted grandchildren. Service will be 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, at Stevens Funeral Home, Madison, with the Rev. Tom Bias officiating. Burial will follow in Boone Memorial Park, Madison. Arnold Lee White
GORDON - Arnold Lee White, 72, of Gordon died Nov. 8, 2002, at home. He was the son of the late Belle and Elwood White. He was also preceded in death by sister, Ellie White; and brothers, Willie "Buddy" and Terry White. He was an equipment operator and an Army veteran of the Korean War. Surviving are his wife, Shirley Jean White of Gordon; children, Louise Sharp of Lynchburg, Va., formerly of Williams Mountain, Diann Guy of St. Petersburg, Fla., Dorina Young of Paris, Tenn., Arnold L. White Jr. and Kimberly White, both of St. Petersburg, Timothy White of New Jersey, Steven Baitoe of Dallas, Texas; stepchildren, Donna Roe and Ricky Gunnoe, both of Gordon, Dianna Deal of Wharton, Bill Gould and David Booth, both of Williams Mountain; sister and brothers, Nellie Cook of Van, Sesko White of North Carolina, Willard White of Wharton, Reford White of Pennsylvania, Carson White of North Carolina, Kyle White of Van, Davey White of Alabama; 17 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Service will be 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, at Gordon Union Church, Gordon, with the Rev. Phil Rowe and the Rev. Patty Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Green Cemetery, Bandytown. Charles Allen White
ELYRIA, Ohio - Charles Allen White, 63, of Elyria, Ohio, died Nov. 7, 2002, in Elyria Memorial Hospital. He was born March 7, 1939, in Ovapa, W.Va., son of the late Walter Charles and Olive Marie White. He was a retired maintainer from Continental Plastics, Brook Park, Ohio. He is survived by his wife, Linda Joyce Thompson White of Elyria; son, Robert Allen White of Elyria; daughters, Janet Christine Cornell of Lagrange, Ohio, Tammy Dawn Ruse of Elyria; brothers, Richard and Jerry White, both of Ovapa, Jim White of Florida; sisters, June McCracken of Akron; sue Thomas of Welle, W.Va., Sandy Potasnik of Ovapa, Linda Boggs of Rupert, W.Va.; five grandchildren and four stepgrandchildren. Service will be 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, at Carl Wilson Funeral Home, Clay, W.Va., with Minister Larry Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Hall Cemetery on Grannies Creek, Ovapa. Elma E. White
Elma E. White, 81, of Alum Creek went home to be with the Lord Nov. 8, 2002, in CAMC Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Cobbs Creek Missionary Baptist Church, Sod. She was a homemaker and a loving mother and grandmother. Surviving are two daughters, Janis Moore of Alum Creek, Jean Elkins of Alkol; three sons, Jerry White of Portsmouth, Va., Jackie White of Palatka, Fla., Joey White of South Charleston; 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Service will be 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with Pastor Clarence Hutton and Pastor Mike Kordusky officiating. Burial will be in Midkiff Cemetery, Sumerco. Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Myrtle Gallagher Williams
HOUSTON, Texas - Myrtle Gallagher Williams passed away Oct. 30, 2002, in Houston, Texas. Myrtle was born July 11, 1922, in Deepwater, W.Va. Myrtle became a registered nurse in 1943. She was a school nurse and later entered the Army Nurses' Corps. After honorable discharge, Myrtle then earned her master's degree in hospital administration. Later, she became president of Mayflower Moving and Storage in Augusta, Ga. Myrtle loved to play golf and bridge at the Atascocita Country Club. She was a member of the Altar Guild of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd. Myrtle was also a member of the Republican Women's Club. She is survived by her husband, Milton B. Williams; sister, Eunice G. Evans of Montgomery; sister-in-law, Claudine B. Williams of Las Vegas, Nev.; nephew, Michael S. Williams of Scottsdale, Ariz.; niece, Sandra Robertson of Darien, Ga.; and her much-loved Yorkshire Terrier, Jonas P. Williams. She shall be greatly missed by her husband and all who knew her. Services were held at The Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, Nov. 2, 2002. Burial was in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, Houston, Texas. Information was provided by B.C. Kenneth M. Wood
GERRARDSTOWN - Kenneth M. Wood, 45, of formerly of Odd, died Nov. 6, 2002. Service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11, at Rose & Quesenberry Funeral Home, Shady Spring. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Cline Wood Cemetery, Odd.
