MALLORY -- Dewey Whitt, 67, of Mallory, Logan County, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 1998, at home after a long illness. He was a retired timberman, formerly employed by Hammer's Lumber Co., a Baptist and an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Myers, 49, of South Charleston was found murdered Thursday, Jan. 15, 1998, at home, said a spokesman for the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department. John Dudley "J.D." Blair, 71, of Charleston died Saturday, Jan. 17, 1998, at home after a four-year illness with prostate cancer. He was long associated with Smith-Hetzel and McDonough-Caperton insurance agencies and was a member of Village Chapel Presbyterian Church.
Surviving: wife, Jean Blair; sons, John Jr. and Richard, of Charleston; four grandchildren. The body was donated to the Human Gift Registry at West Virginia University Medical Center. RUPERT -- Joseph Edward Deitz, 88, of Rupert died Monday, Jan. 19, 1998, in Alleghany Regional Hospital, Low Moor, Va., after a short illness. He was the retired owner/operator of Joe Deitz Lumber Co., Nicholas County, and was a member of Beaver Creek Baptist Church, Keiffer, where he was a deacon, Sunday school superintendent and Sunday school teacher.

KERNERSVILLE, N.C. -- Charles J. Henderson of Kernersville, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 1998, in Forsyth Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Charleston, W.Va., attended Virginia Tech, was an Air Force veteran and an employee of RJR. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

William S. Johnson
William S. Johnson, 72, of Charleston died Friday, Jan. 16, 1998, in CAMC, General Division, after a short illness. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service with 20 years of service,was a Navy veteran of World War II and an Army Reserves veteran. He was a member of Mount Nebo Baptist Church, Carbon, American Legion Post 57, VFW Post 3812, National Alliance of Postal and Federal Employees and National Association of Letter Carriers. He was a native of Cabin Creek, a graduate of Garnet High School and West Virginia State College.
