SISSONVILLE -- Herbert E. Meeks, 79, of Sissonville died Friday, Jan. 23, 1998, at home after a short illness. He was an Army veteran of World War II, a field maintenance worker for Cabot Gas, and a lifelong resident of the Kanawha Valley.

Edith Estep Pile of Dunbar died Friday, Jan. 23, 1998, at home. She was a homemaker and a pollster, a member of Humphrey's Memorial United Methodist Church, Dunbar, National Market Research Association and Pioneer Woman's Club. She was a 52-year resident of Dunbar.

POCA -- Richard Allen Rowlands, 72, of Poca died Friday, Jan. 23, 1998, at home after a short illness. He was a 3-month resident of Poca and a former 29-year resident of Mount Vernon, Ohio. He retired from United Telephone Company of Ohio, was a former employee of Western Electric and a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a charter member of Seventh-day Adventist Church, Charleston, and a member of Mount Vernon Seventh-day Adventist Church. He was a caregiver and resided in the home of Ronnie and Juanita Burford.

He was a member of American Textile Workers AFL-CIO, IOOF Lodge Putnam 85, and Forrest Rose Rebekah Lodge 143. He was a Christian.
