Warren G. Jackson, 69, of Belle died Saturday, Jan. 31, 1998, in Thomas Memorial Hospital after a short illness. He was a retired lab analyst for DuPont, Belle, with 34 years of service, a volunteer instructor and tax preparer for AARP Programs and was a private pilot. He was a 1946 graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School, attended West Virginia University and West Virginia State College, was a Protestant and a member of Charleston Elks Club 202.
Surviving: wife, Mary H. Jackson; daughter, Cynthia Thompson of South Charleston; stepdaughter, Linda Jonas of Hurricane; two grandchildren. Julia A. Kanakanui
BECKLEY -- Julia Ann Kanakanui, 65, of Beckley died Thursday, Jan. 15, 1998, in Greensboro, N.C. She graduated with honors from Mary Washington College in 1964 with a B.A. in arts and music and taught in public schools for 20 years. She received a master's degree in church music, choral conducting from Scarritt Graduate School in Nashville, Tenn., in 1966, served as music director at Beckley Presbyterian Church from 1969-1980 and again from 1989 until her death. She co-founded Children's House Montessori School in 1969 where she served as administrative director and music teacher, was a member of the Presbyterian Association of Musicians and the American Guild of English Handbell Ringers.
Surviving: husband, Richard D. Kanakanui of Beckley; daughters, Karen Ann Kanakanui of Los Angeles, Calif., Julia Lane Kanakanui of Greensboro, N.C.; sons, David G. Kanakanui of Beckley, Samuel S. He was a 1985 graduate of Point Pleasant High School and an employee of Point Pleasant Housing Authority.

She was a retired real estate agent from Estille and Greenlee/Cardinal Realty Co., Charleston, a member and past worthy matron of Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 45, grand representative of the state of West Virginia Order of Eastern Star and a member of the American Business Women's Association.

High School, a volunteer with the Red Cross, rolling bandages during World War II and helping manage kitchens for doctors and nurses in Cheshire, Conn., and assisting with various blood banks. She was a member of Westfield (N.J.) Presbyterian Church.
Surviving: daughter, Julie Calvert Taylor, with whom she made her home; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
