MASCOUTAH, Ill. -- Herbert Lee "Herb" Carr, 67, of Mascoutah died Saturday, Feb. 7, 1998, in Illinois after a short illness. He was a 1947 graduate of Garnet High School, Charleston, W.Va., was a former Civil Service employee and a retired Air Force veteran with 31 years of service, serving in the Korean War and Vietnam War.
Surviving: companion, Joyce Carter; sisters, Agnes Williams and Patricia Sanders of San Diego, Calif., Phyllis Carr of St. Albans, W.Va.; brothers, Everett Carr of Flint, Mich., Charles Carr of South Charleston, W.Va. Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Scott Air Force Base Chapel II with the Rev. Ed Banks officiating. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Jefferson Barracks, Mo. MADISON -- Venia E. Caruthers, 79, of Madison died Sunday, Feb. 8, 1998, in Boone Memorial Hospital after a long illness. She was a former cook for Boone Memorial Hospital and a retired cook from Boone County schools. Surviving; sons, David Caruthers of Charleston, Charles Harvey Caruthers of Madison; daughters, Shirley Justice of Barrett, Doris Casto and Brenda Caruthers of Madison; sisters, Orpha Nelson of Bob White, Thelma Barker of Uneeda; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Boone Memorial Park, Madison, with the Rev. Tom Price officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Stevens Funeral Home, Madison. The procession will leave the funeral home at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday for the cemetery.

Janie L. Clark, 79, of South Charleston died Monday, Feb. 9, 1998, in St. Francis Hospital after a long illness. She was a homemaker and a member of Mallory Chapel Church of Christ.

Amber Beam Coble, 43, of Sissonville died Saturday, Feb. 7, 1998, at home after a short illness. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.

WAVERLY HALL, Ga. -- Willie Mae Davis, 94, of Waverly Hall, formerly of Charleston, W.Va., died Saturday, Feb. 7, 1998, in Medical Center, Columbus. She retired from Coyle and Richardson, Charleston, and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Surviving: son, Gordon Davis of Salem, Ala.; sister, Alma Woods of Webbville, Ky.; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. MOCKSVILLE, N.C. -- Viola Faye Drake, 55, of Mocksville, formerly of Duck, W.Va., died Friday, Feb. 6, 1998, in North Carolina after a short illness.
Surviving: husband, Everett Drake Jr.; son, Everett F. Drake of Mocksville; daughters, Mista M. Harrison, Rosie V. Drake, Trena L. Drake and Tammy A. Brock of Mocksville, Patricia D. AKRON, Ohio -- Aretta K. Dye, 89, of Akron died Saturday, Feb. 7, 1998, in Ohio. She was a native of Riverside, W.Va., and a retired restaurant cook.

Delores J. Gibson, 62, of Charleston, formerly of Moonachie, N.J., died Sunday, Feb. 8, 1998, in CAMC, General Division, after a long illness. She was a Pentecostal and member of the Church of God. She was a former employee of Plastic Reel Co., Moonachie, with 15 years of service. She was preceded in death by husband, Harold Lee Gibson.

MILTON -- Jennie Estep Harshbarger, 74, of Milton died Monday,Feb. 9, 1998, in Heartland of River-view, South Point, Ohio, after a long illness. She retired from the Cabell County Board of Education and was a member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church, Milton.

NEW MILTON -- Joseph Leopold Hinter, 90, of New Milton, Doddridge County, died Monday, Feb. 9, 1998, at home after a long illness. He was a farmer and a member of St. Johannes Lutheran Church, St. Clara.

H. Curtis Hudson, 62, of Charleston died Sunday, Feb. 8, 1998, in Thomas Memorial Hospital after a short illness. He was a management employee at Sears, Roebuck and Co. with 39 years of service, a foreman for Two Points Construction Co. and a former member of the Army National Guard. He was a lifelong resident of Charleston.
Surviving: wife, Donna Hudson; sons, Terry Lee Hudson of South Charleston, Roger Curtis Hudson of Sissonville, Roger Lee Hudson at home; sister, Patricia Cheney Hudson of Crestline, Ohio; five grandchildren. HARPER -- Isaac Jennings, 78, of Harper, Raleigh County, died Friday, Feb. 6, 1998, in a Beckley hospital after a long illness. He was a retired miner with 40 years of service, a member of the UMW and an Army veteran of World War II.

Jimmie L. "Rocky" Jumper, 39, of South Charleston died Saturday, Feb. 7, 1998, in the West Penn Burn Center, Pittsburgh, from injuries received in an explosion at his home Jan. 31, said a spokesman for the state medical examiner's office in South Charleston. An autopsy was to be performed, the spokesman said. He was a self-employed construction worker.
Surviving: wife, Patty R. Keen Jumper; daughters, Jessica L. and Stacey L. Jumper at home; sisters, Becky Desrosiers of Punta Gorda, Fla., Jeannie Magoune of St. Albans, Regina Elkins of Charleston. RANDALLSTOWN, Md. -- Robert Carson Magnuson, 39, of Randallstown died Friday, Feb. 6, 1998, in Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, after a short illness. He was born in Charleston, W.Va., and was a 10-year resident of Randallstown. He was an administrative officer with the Hazards and Solid Waste Management Administration for the state of Maryland with 10 years of service, a graduate of West Virginia University with a B.S. degree and received a master's degree from the University of Colorado.
Surviving: mother, Eleanor G. Glaser of Palm Springs, Calif.; father, Robert E. Magnuson of Snowshoe, W.Va.; sister, Ann Magnuson of Los Angeles, Calif. A memorial service will be held in Charleston at a later date.
