Jeanette Monohan Glancy, 77, of Chesapeake died Monday, May 12, 1997, in CAMC, General Division, after a short illness. She retired from the state Workers' Compensation Fund with 24 years of service and was a member of Chelyan Nazarene Church. Surviving: sons, Charles William of Louisville, Ky., Michael Louis of Uniontown, Pa.; daughter, Marquita Miller of South Charleston; seven grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Robert E. Greenleaf, 95, of Charleston died Sunday, May 11, 1997, in Marietta, Ohio. He retired from Persingers Inc., was a member of Charleston Lions Club, a recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellow Lifetime Achievement Award and was a 50-year member of St. Marks United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by wife, Nora E. Greenleaf. Surviving: son, Robert E. Greenleaf of Williamstown; grandson, Jeffrey A. Greenleaf of Granville, Ohio; two great-grandchildren. Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Wilson Funeral Home, Charleston, with the Rev. Richard Work officiating. Burial will be in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens. He was a retired coal miner, member of Moose Lodge 1094, UMW District 29 and was a Protestant. Surviving: daughter, Grace Ruth Johnson; daughter, Terri Lynn Johnson of North Carolina; son, Basil Lee Johnson Jr. of Itmann; two grandchildren. She was an independent distributor for Starlight International and was a former medical billing clerk for CAMC. She was a member of the Cancer Support Group at Thomas Memorial Hospital and held an associate degree from University of Charleston. HURRICANE -- James V. Lane, 70, of Hurricane, formerly of Swiss, died Sunday, May 11, 1997, in Columbia Putnam General Hospital from complications of Lou Gehrig's disease. He retired from Montgomery College, Germantown, Md. Surviving: wife, Mary F. Lane; stepchildren, Carolyn Malashevich of Hurricane, Cynthia Brubaker, Ralph Koontz and Dana E. Koontz, of Fayetteville; seven stepgrandchildren; several nieces and nephews. There will be no service. The body was donated to the Human Gift Registry at WVU to further the study of Lou Gehrig's disease. Friends may call at the residence. She was a former secretary at DuPont High School, a native of Randolph County and lived most of her life in Dunbar. Surviving: sister, Nell Adams of Lake Placid, Fla.; brother, Charles M. WESTON -- Mrs. Midget H. Mick, 96, of Criss Manor, Weston, died Monday, May 12, 1997, in Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital, Weston, after a long illness. She was born in Gilmer County, was a homemaker and a member of Stonecoal United Methodist Church. He was a retired chemical operator from Union Carbide, Institute, and a former employee of DuPont Chemical Co., Morgantown. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and was a member of First Baptist Church, Dunbar. He was a graduate of Grafton High School and a 41-year resident of Cross Lanes. Surviving: son, David L. of Cross Lanes; daughter, Suellen Lowe of Huntington; brother, Ed of Morgantown; four grandchildren; one great-grandson. He was born in Clothier, W.Va., was a member of Clifton Forge Presbyterian Church and the Men's Bible Class. He was a veteran of the Korean War, a graduate of Morris Harvey College, Charleston, W.Va., and Lynchburg College. He was a retired schoolteacher from Alleghany County, taught in West Virginia and was principal of Ashwood School, Bath County, Va. Surviving: wife, Darlene Marie Nielsen Pauley; daughters, Lynette Lewis of Covington, Va., Rachelle Nicely of Clifton Forge, Pamela Bradley of Whitman, W.Va.; sister, Ova Jean Schultz of Clothier; brother, Bill Pauley of Clothier. She was a retired office manager with Teamsters Joint Council Health and Welfare Pension Fund and was a member of the Ladies Oriental Shrine, Bridge Club and Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church. Surviving: daughter, Cathy Mildren of Charleston; son, F. Bruce Perry Jr. of Vienna, W.Va.; four grandchildren. There will be no service. He was a member of Putnam Lodge 139 AF&AM, Hurricane, charter member and former chief of Culloden Volunteer Fire Department and chairman of Culloden Public Service District for many years. He was born in Seth. Surviving: wife, Ruth Backus Rhodes; daughter, Barbara Fake of York, Pa.; son, Bruce of Cincinnati, Ohio; six grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren. He was born in Oak Hill and was a salesman for Little Valley RVs and Boats, Prosperity. He was a Marine Corps veteran and a Protestant. Surviving: parents, Ray F. Jr. and Ruth Berry Singer of Oak Hill; sister, Sara Hill of Oak Hill. Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, with the Rev. Bill Skeldon and the Rev. SANDUSKY, Ohio -- Elizabeth Fisher Slater, 93, of Sandusky, formerly of Dunbar, W.Va., died Friday, May 9, 1997, in Providence Care Center, Sandusky, after a short illness. She lived most of her life in the Charleston, W.Va., area, studied music at Denver Conservatory, Chicago Conservatory of Music and Detroit Conservatory. She taught piano at Mason School of Music, which is part of the University of Charleston, was an organist in the Charleston area, served as organist for Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was a member of the American Guild of Organists. She served as president of the PTA, was a charter member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Charleston, past president of St. Paul's Ladies Guild, a charter member and past president of Pioneer Womens Club of Dunbar, served as parliamentarian of the State Federation of Women's Clubs and volunteered many hours at the Barboursville Home for Polio Widows and the Well Baby Clinic of Dunbar. Surviving: daughters, Jane Masciola of Sandusky, Sara Murray of Alexandria, Va.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Charleston, with Pastor J.D. Fodrliak officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Charleston. He was a retired miner from Central Appalachian Coal Co. with more than 40 years of service and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church, Chelyan Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Bodies of Charleston and Beni Kedem Shrine Temple. He was former owner/operator of Blue Kitchen Restaurant, Cedar Grove. Surviving: wife, Bertha M.
