Cornelius "Neil" Hodges, 76, of Dawes died Tuesday, May 6, 1997, in CAMC, Memorial Division, after a short illness. He was a retired store manager from Carbon Fuel Company Store, a member of Cabin Creek American Legion and an Army veteran of World War II. He was a lifelong resident of Kanawha County. SAN ANTONIO -- Catherine Arnold Midelburg, 82, of San Antonio, formerly of Charleston, W.Va., died Tuesday, April 22, 1997 at home. She was a graduate of Mary Baldwin College and American University. She was employed in the Administrative Department of Randolph Field Air Force Base with more than 20 years of service until her retirement. Surviving: nephew, Kelley E. Reed III of Charleston, Ronnie W. Midelburg of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday at B'nai Israel Cemetery with Rabbi Israel B. Koller officiating. William T. Milleson
SPRINGFIELD -- William T. Milleson, 89, of Springfield, Hampshire County, died Monday, May 5, 1997, in Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md. He was a lifelong resident of Hampshire County and a lifelong livestock farmer. He was a member of Springfield Presbyterian Church, Romney Lions Club and a 50-year member and past master of Clinton Lodge 86 AF&AM. He was director of First National Bank of Romney for 56 years, where he also served as president, vice-president and Chairman of the Board and also served 12 years as a delegate in the Legislature. Surviving: son, William J. Sr. of Springfield; daughter, Mary French Barbe of Romney; sister, Mary Sue DuVall of Fort Ashby; five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter. Service was to be 2 p.m. today at Springfield Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Sue Lowcock Harris and the Rev. Sumner D. Sawyers officiating. Burial was to be in Springfield Hill Cemetery. He retired from Union Carbide Corp., Institute Plant, with 41 years of service and was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a 50-year resident of Hurricane, a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church, Teays Valley, a member of Putnam Masonic Lodge 139 AF&AM and the West Virginia Bee Keepers Association, Charleston. Surviving: wife, Virginia B. Hutchinson Phillips; daughters, Joan Boggess of Cary, N.C., Patricia Phillips of Atlanta, Ga.; son, Zack Phillips III of Cool Ridge; sister, Betty Bell of St. Albans; brother, Joe Phillips of Ycolt, Wash.; one granddaughter.
