Edgar 'Mutt' Mercer
Edgar Thomas "Mutt" Mercer, 89, of Mannington, died Thursday, April 12, 2001, at Sundale Nursing Home, Morgantown. He was born Jan. 9, 1912, in Mannington, son of the late Edgar William and Rosa Mills Mercer. He had been a member and deacon of the First Presbyterian Church in Mannington for several years. He was also a member and past officer of AF&AM Masonic Lodge No. 31 of Mannington; State of West Virginia Order of the Amaranth; the Mannington Lions Club; the Order of the Odd Fellows and Grand Encampment; and Mannington Elks Lodge 338. He had been an Elk for more than 50 years and was well known for the many meals he had prepared for functions of the Elks. He had been chosen Elk of the Year and was presen ted with a plaque for his many hours of service. He attended Mannington High School and for many years operated Mercer's Service Station. He had also worked at the former Bower's Pottery, was a coal miner and a parts salesman for Mannington Auto Parts. Before his retirement, he served as bartender for the Elks Lodge of Mannington. During the Depression, he served as cook in the CCC Camp in California. He is survived by his wife of more than 65 years, Ruth Floyd Mercer; a son and spouse, Raymond and Karen Mercer, of Metz; two daughters and spouses, Rose Marie and Alfred Williams, of Wooster, Ohio, and Betty and Joseph Potoczny, of Farmington; a niece, Frances Barnhart Moore, of Spraggs, Pa., who was raised in the Mercer home; 11 grandchildren and spouses, Beverly Mercer and Israel VanSycoc, of Wadestown, Sandra Mercer, of Metz, Raymond Mercer II and Tammy Secreto, of Mannington, Diana and Larry Strong , of Shreve, Ohio, Joyce and Ron Campbell, of Grafton, Ohio, Michael and Kim Ballinger, of Smithville, Ohio, Tom and Melanie Ballinger, serving in the U.S. Army in Germany, Joseph and Kelly Potoczny, of Butler, Ohio, Lori and Gary Cunningham, of Philippi , Christopher and Kelli Potoczny, of Alma, and Malissa Potoczny, of Farmington; 15 great-grandchildren; a step-granddaughter, and a step-grandson; three step great-great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert William Mercer; five sisters, Irene Hagel, Jeanette Hite, Marjorie VanHorn, Helen Norris and Mary Sowers; and a step great-granddaughter, Brittany Cunningham. Friends may call at Dent Funeral Home, Mannington, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday. The Elks Lodge 388 of Mannington will hold a memorial service at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, with the Rev. Richard Krajeski officiating. Burial will follow at Mannington Memorial Park. Michael Timothy Mayle
Michael Timothy "Timmy" Mayle, 45, of Grafton, died Wednesday, April 11, 2001, at home. He was born Nov. 10, 1955, in Grafton, son of the late Mitchel and Imogene Mayle. He was employed as a tradesworker at West Virginia University Health Sciences Center. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and golf. He was Methodist. He is survived by his wife, Robin L. Yost Mayle; two sons, Jeremy Michael and Justin Timothy Mayle, both at home; six brothers and spouses, Eddie and Sharron Mayle, of Fairmont, Terry and Marge Mayle, Kenneth and Kim Mayle, Mitch and Tami Mayle, Mark and Joni Mayle, and Rob and Duretha Mayle, all of Grafton; three sisters and spouses, Marsha and Jack Mayle, of Louisville, Ohio, Christy and Dave Fawcett, of Grafton, and Shelly and John Clark, of Morgantown; his in-laws, Ruth and James Boyles, of Grafton, and Fred and Sharron Yost, of Ashland, Ky.; and a sister-in-law and spouse, Judy and Dwight Armstrong, of Whitier, N.C. Ethel M. Jones
Ethel M. Jones, 82, of Morgan Street, Rivesville, died Friday, April 13, 2001, at Wishing Well Health Center, Fairmont. She was born Oct. 19, 1918, a daughter of the late Harley and Anna Reed Hayhurst. She retired from the balcony shift of Owens-Illinois Glass Plant, Fairmont, with 28 years of service. She was Protestant and actively attended country music shows in Rivesville. She is survived by a son, Orval Jones, of Rivesville; a daughter and spouse, Louise and John Stevens, of Vermilion, Ohio; three grandchildren, Jennifer Jones, of Masontown, Robert Prather, of Norwalk, Ohio, and Roger Prather, of Elyria, Ohio; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, including Ed and Linda Hayhurst, of Fairmont. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, George and Earl Hayhurst; and a sister, Helen Myers. Hazel Pugh Schrader
Hazel Pugh Schrader, 64, of Route 2, Fairmont, died Thursday, April 12, 2001, at Fairmont General Hospital. She was born Oct. 24, 1936, at Hacker Valley, daughter of the late Lonnie and Sylvia Powers Pugh Wilson. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Monongah Baptist Church and the AARP. She is survived by her husband, Charles Schrader; two sons and spouse, Charles II and Susan Schrader, and Jeff Schrader, all of Fairmont; a brother and spouse, James and Mary Lou Pugh, of Halifax, Va.; a sister and spouse, Norma and Robert Hibbs, of Mannington; and two grandchildren, Christopher Schrader and Brett Schrader. She was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Lee Pugh, and a sister, Helen Garrett. Harold W. Breakiron
Harold W. "Wayne" Breakiron, 88, of Laurel View Village, Davidsville, Pa., formerly of Breakiron Hill Road, Morgantown, died Thursday, April 12, 2001, at UPMC Lee Regional Hospital, Johnstown, Pa. He was born Dec. 12, 1912, in Morgantown, son of the late William and Mayma Pixler Breakiron. He was a member of Mellons Chapel Church, Dellslow, and was an avid camper, former miner and retired security officer for West Virginia University. He is survived by three daughters and spouses, Betty and Michael Antonik, of Johnstown, Carole Clinger, of Morgantown, and Linda and Joseph Jordan, of Point Marion, Pa.; six grandchildren and spouses, Marnie and Nick Cayro-Rodriguez, Mark and Tracy Prater Antonik, Michael Antonik and fiancee, Audra Hagens, Carl and Sara Clinger, Chris and Chrissy Jordan, and Adrianne and Jeff Egnot-Jordan; four great-grandchildren, Kyli and Devon Cayro-Rodriguez, and Shawn and Nathan Antonik; special friends Sandy and J erry Keller, of Morgantown; and staff and friends at Laurel View Village. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Edith M. Luella Irene Stevens
Luella Irene Stevens, 62, of Maidsville, died Thursday, April 12, 2001, at Ruby Memorial Hospital. She was born July 30, 1938, in Port Huron, Mich., daughter of the late Justin Bradford and Elizabeth Ann Kennedy Vanwormer. She was a domestic engineer, retired from West Virginia University's department of housing and resident life. She was Protestant and an avid NASCAR and sports fan. She is survived by five daughters and spouses, Brenda and Ben Williams, of Halleck, Yvonne and John Demidovich, of Maidsville, Cheryl Musgrave and companion Al Young, of Rivesville, Heidi Stevens and companion Junior Price, of Bertha Hill, and Wilma Stevens, at home; a son, Charles E. "Chuck" Stevens, at home; five sisters and spouses, Barbara Ganaden, Charlotte and Dave Billbe, Betty Riggie and Tony Liuzzi, all of San Dimas, Calif., Sue Carol and Kenneth Kemp of Detroit, and Linda and Ronald Miller of Winnie, Texas; 10 grandchildren, Wayne Musgrave, Joe Musgrave, Scott Demidovich, Johnny Demidovich, Katie Demidovich, Benny Williams, Randy Price, Brad Price, Mandie Price, and Allison Stevens. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Gerald E. Lawrence DeBerry
Lawrence Junior DeBerry, 69, of Reedsville, died Tuesday, April 10, 2001, at home. He was born May 3, 1931, in Masontown, son of Aldona P. Sisler DeBerry, of Masontown, and the late Lawrence Edgar DeBerry. He was a graduate of Masontown High School. He began his U.S. Marine Corps career on Jan. 18, 1950, and retired as a master sergeant Dec. 11, 1971, with 22 years of active service, and eight years in the reserves. He served in the Korean War and the Vietnam War with honors. He trained reserve units at Parris Island, S.C., and he was an instructor for the Crash Crew at the U.S. Naval Station, in Millington, Tenn. He was also the commander of the Marine Security Guard at the U.S. Naval Hospital in St. Alb ans, N.Y. He was a lifetime member of Masontown VFW Post 1589 and the Marine Corps Association. He was a member of the Aircraft Fire Fighting, the Rescue Association and the St. Zita Catholic Church, in Masontown. He is also survived by his wife, Arlene E. "Rusty" DeBerry; two daughters and spouses, Deborah L. and Ronald G. Lemasters, of Stephens City, Va., and Denise D. and Brian D. Trickett, of Arthurdale; four brothers, Rodney A. DeBerry, of Greensboro, Pa., Roger F. DeBerry, of Buena Vista, Va., Larry E. DeBerry and Thomas Lee DeBerry, both of Kingwood; a sister, Betty Wanta Martin, of Terra Alta; and four grandchildren, Andrew G. Lemasters, Jennifer A. Lemasters, Brian D. Trickett Jr., and Brandis D. Tricket t. He was also preceded in death by a son, Lawrence Jay DeBerry, on Dec. 20, 1989. Margaret June Toothman
Margaret June Toothman, 72, of Fairview, died Thursday, April 12, 2001, at home. She was born Jan. 2, 1929, in Fairmont, daughter of the late Okey Russell and Rose Haught Cook. She was a homemaker who spent much of her time making quilts. She was a member of the Interdenominational Church -- Ireland Chapel, Farmington. She is survived by a daughter and spouse, Mary Frances and Lt. Joseph Longwell, of Fairview; a grandchild, Joseph Dewey Longwell, of Fairview; three sisters and a spouse, Ruth and Dallas Parker, of Fairview, Rosemary Parker, of Plum Run Community, Mannington, and Anna Carol Gooch, of Toronto, Ohio. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Dewey Toothman. There will be no funeral home visitation. Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 16, at the I.O.O.F. Melvin Ray Jolliff
Melvin Ray Jolliff, 65, of Catawba community, died Friday, April 13, 2001, at home. He was born June 23, 1935, in Mount Harmony, son of the late Raymond H. and Thelma D. Drummond Jolliff. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He loved hunting and watching sports. He enjoyed singing and was a regular at Bunners Ridge Sagebrush Round-up for the past 24 years. He was a member of the Country Music Association and the Catawba Community Association. He was a truck driver and last worked for W.S. Thomas Transfer in Fairmont. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Donna Mae Herndon Jolliff; a son and spouse, Dave and Lorraine Jolliff, of Fairmont; two daughters, Mary Hilling, of Meadowdale, and Dianna Jolliff, of Baxter; a sister and spouse, Marlene and Herb Betz, of Del Rio, Texas; seven grandchildren, Christal Brummage, Bobby Hilling, Michelle Heldreth, Mark David Jolliff, Angela Morris, Joe Dotts and Dave Dotts; four great-grandchildren, Lindsey Brummage, Hannah Morris, Cameron Morris and Brooklyn Morris; and his mother- in-law, Margaret Herndon, of Newburg. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Harold Jolliff; a grandchild; and a great-grandchild. Florence Brewer
Florence Brewer, 81, of Wishing Well Manor, formerly of Route 2, Fairview, died Thursday, April 12, 2001, at Wishing Well Manor. She was born Aug. 24, 1919, in Fairview, daughter of the late Wash and Mary Del Sine Brewer. She was retired from Westinghouse Corp. and was a member of the Pumpkin Center Church of Christ. She is survived by a sister, Prudie Devine, of Ohio; and a niece and caretaker, Nancy Stover, of Grant Town. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Clydy Brewer and Stacey Brewer; and four sisters, Martha Polansky, Essie Chisler, Marie Lough, and Sudie Lough. There will be no visitation. Following the wishes of the deceased, she was cremated. Domico Funeral Home, Curry Chapel, Fairview is in charge of arrangements.

Claudia Ross Lofland
Claudia Ross Lofland, 79, of Dale City, Va., died Thursday, April 12, 2001, at Potomac Hospital in Woodbridge, Va. She was a resident of Lake Ridge Fellowship house for eight years and past president of the Seniors Club at Holy Family Catholic Church and Lake Ridge Fellowship House. She was a retired LPN from West Virginia University Hospitals, and was an avid bingo player. She is survived by two daughters, Betty Ann Spear, of Dale City, and Janet Mae Friend, of Morgantown; a son, David John Ely, of Dale City; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Service will be at noon Saturday, April 14, at the Mountcastle Funeral Home, 4143 Dale Blvd., Dale City, with the Rev. David Berg officiating. Private burial will follow. Robert S. Hartley
Robert S. Hartley, 81, of Wayne Avenue, Morgantown, died Friday, April 13, 2001, at Morgan Manor Nursing Facility. He was born Dec. 23, 1919, in Kitzmiller, Md., son of the late Harry Henry and Emma Flanagan Hartley. He was Methodist. He was educated in local schools and was a graduate of Morgantown High School. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, having served in the South Pacific aboard a command heavy cruiser. He was a life member of the VFW Post 548. He was also a member of the U.S.S. Montpelier Association. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He owned and operated Hartley's Cleaners on Spruce Street in Morgantown for 24 years until he retired early, due to illness. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ethel M. Walters Hartley; a son and spouse, Larry R. and Sheila Hartley, of Morgantown; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren, all of the Morgantown area. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Helen G. Hindman; a half sister, Irene Doerr; and a son, Harry Lee Hartley, on April 13, 1997. Cremation services will be provided by Hastings Funeral Home. Inurnment will be at a later date at the Veteran's National Cemetery, Pruntytown.

Bronwen Maust
Bronwen Olivia Jones Maust, 79, of Westover, died Friday, April 13, 2001, at Monongalia General Hospital. She was born Jan. 28, 1922, in Morgantown, daughter of the late Robert H. and Elizabeth Sarah Williams Jones. She was a 1940 graduate of University High School. She was a longtime member of the Spruce Street United Methodist Church and a former member of the Ruth Circle. She was a retired seamstress, having worked at Thomas Cleaners for many years. She was active in the community, was a member of the Westover Women's Club and the Fairheights Garden Club. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She is survived by a daughter, Janice Cyzick, of Westover, with whom she made her home; a son, James W. Maust, of Westover; two grandsons, J. Bradley Maust, of Atlanta, and Derick Cyzick, of Westover; a granddaughter and spouse, Rami and Michael Bloniarz, of Morgantown; her sister-in-law, Helen Jones, of Morgantown; 14 nieces and nephews; and 30 great-nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles J. Maust, on Jan. 9, 1981; four brothers, Thomas, Robert H. Jr., Emrys and Hayden Jones; two sisters, Violet Kaelin and Elizabeth DeFere; and two infant brothers. Friends may call at Hastings Funeral Home from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Monday. James W. Strawser
James W. "Cowboy" Strawser, 56, of Ramp Hollow Road, Shriver community, Osage, died Friday, April 13, 2001, at home. He was born June 21, 1944, in Morgantown, son of Helen Criff Strawser, of Tunnelton, and the late Ellworth "Tom" Winfield Strawser. He was previously employed by Frank Volk Trucking Co., a social member of the Masontown VFW and the CB Radio Club. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and NASCAR fan. He is also survived by his wife, Dorothy Jean Haun Strawser; two sons and spouses, James and Dorothy Strawser Jr., of Waynesburg, Pa., and Robert and Eloise Husner, of Carmichaels, Pa.; three daughters and spouses, Patsy and Jack Massie, of Mather, Pa., Tina and Robert Barber, of Schweinfurt, Germany, and Rebecca Blake, of Mather; a sister, Sue Merrill, of Cheat Lake; a good friend, Gary Walters, of Cincinnati; 21 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Gay Kennedy
Iva Gay Carter Kennedy, 98, of Fairmont, died Friday, April 13, 2001, at Sundale Nursing Home, Morgantown. She was born Jan. 15, 1903, at Gip, Braxton County, daughter of the late William and Ida Hill Carter. She was a homemaker and member of Valley Chapel United Methodist Church. She was known for her work as a seamstress. She is survived by several nieces and nephews, including Charles and Wanda Carter, of Meadowdale. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Kennedy, on Jan. 7, 1995. The couple married in 1935. Also deceased are five brothers, Newton Carter, Robert Carter, Albert Carter, Hobert Carter and Walter Carter; and a sister, Cora McCumbers. Olive V. Brown
Olive V. Brown, 98, formerly of Masontown, and of St. Petersburg, Fla., died Saturday, April 7, 2001, at Northside Hospital, St. Petersburg. She was born April 5, 1903, in Masontown, daughter of the late James Allison and Louisa Cobun Stuck. She was Methodist and attended the Masontown United Methodist Church when she lived in Masontown. She is survived by a daughter, Mary L. Brown, of St. Petersburg; a son, Gene B. Brown, of Midland Park, N.J.; a granddaughter, Anne B. Naramore, of Upper Saddle River, N.J.; a grandson, Mark William Brown, of Midland Park, N.J.; a great-grandson, Eric William Naramore, of Upper Saddle River; and a granddaughter, Allison Lynn Naramore, of Upper Saddle River. She was preceded in death by her husband, William B. Brown, in 1958; and a brother, Guy Stuck. Friends may call at Hastings Funeral Home from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Monday. Dr. Robert E. McCafferty
Dr. Robert E. McCafferty, 81, of Morgantown, died Thursday, April 12, 2001, at Monongalia General Hospital. He was born April 30, 1919, in Butler, Pa., son of the late William Eugene and Cornelia Landis Biehl McCafferty. He was a 1943 graduate of Grove City College with a bachelor's degree, double majoring in zoology and chemistry. From 1943-46, he served in the United States Navy in the Philippine Theater and Am Phib Com Pac. From February 1946 to July 1946, he served with the United States Coast Guard Mothballing Fleet. After World War II, he completed master's degree and Ph.D. studies at the University of Pittsburgh in 1949 and 1952. While a graduate assistant and instructor at Pitt, he instructed weekly classes in P rinciples of Radar and Soning Equipment at Neville Island Reserve Training Center. He retired from the Naval Reserve in 1954. After seven years as an instructor of anatomy and a research assistant in obstetrics/gynecology at the University of Maryland, h e was asked to help in the formative stages of the anatomy department at the new University of Kentucky Medical Center. In 1965, he came to West Virginia University as an assistant professor of anatomy and attained full professorship in 1974. He was granted Emeritus Professorship upon his retirement in 1985. He was a member of numerous scientific societies and a researcher and author of many published papers. He was a member of Suncrest United Methodist Church Drummond Chapel Campus. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Helen Connell McCafferty; a daughter and spouse, Carolyn and John Moses, of Louisville, Ky.; a brother and spouse, Victor Kenneth and Leah Rae McCafferty, of Butler, Pa.; four nephews and spouses, Brian and Ruth and Kevin and Sandra McCafferty, all of Butler, Robert Allen McCafferty, of Slippery Rock, Pa., and David M. Patterson, of Barrington, R.I.; a niece, Margaret Patterson Leous, of Clarence, N.Y.;and a sister-in-law, Betty Connell Patterson, of Kenmore, N.Y . and Englewood, Fla. He was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Maurice R. Patterson. Edith E. 'Jean' Snider
Edith E. "Jean" Snider, 68, of Sabraton Avenue, Fairmont, died Saturday, April 14, 2001, at United Hospital Center, Clarksburg. She was born July 22, 1932, in Cranesville, daughter of the late Rev. Charles Hawkins and Eugenie Clark Hawkins. She was a cook at the former Parkett and the Barbara Joyce Restaurants. She is survived by her husband, Richard Arlen Snider; two sons and spouses, Richard II and Nora Snider, of Fairmont, and Billy E. and Julia Snider, of Fairmont; a daughter and spouse, Jeanette Rose and Brian Thompson, of Fairmont; two brothers and a spouse, David and Paulie Hawkins, of Meadowdale, and Robert Hawkins, of Washington, D.C.; a sister, Lottie Jo Mundell, of Morgantown; five grandchildren, Billy Michael, John Richard and Charity Snider and Daniel Edward and Elizabeth Marie Snider; and three g reat-grandchildren, Blaine, Sebastian and Riley. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Darlene Snider; a sister, Bertha Mazzie Carr; and three brothers, Lawrence, Richard and George Hawkins. Angeline Scalise
Angeline Scalise, 88, of Route 3, Box 544, Lost Creek, died Saturday, April 14, 2001, at United Hospital Center, Clarksburg. She was born Sept. 18, 1912, in Lost Creek, daughter of the late John and Mary Fratto. She and her husband owned and operated the Righter Grocery Store in Lost Creek for many years. She was a former member of St. Jon's Catholic Church and a present member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Clarksburg. She is survived by her husband, Mike Scalise, of Lost Creek, whom she married in November 1930; a daughter, Mary A. Scalise Wright, of Lost Creek; five grandchildren, Dr. Mario Serafini, of Clarksburg, Rose Marie Johnson, of Wisconsin, Michael A. Wright, of Lost Creek, James Joseph Wright, of Lost Creek, and Joseph Vincent Wright, of Virginia; eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by an infant son; a daughter, Carmie Scalise Serafini; three brothers and four sisters. Bartolo Funeral Home, Clarksburg, is in charge of arrangements, which are incomplete.

Sarah T. Roveto
Sarah T. Roveto, 84, of 2026 Gould Ave., Clarksburg, died Saturday, April 14, 2001, at Continuous Care, after a long illness. She was born Feb. 22, 1917, in Clarksburg, daughter of the late Frank Roveto and Louisa Scalise Roveto. She is survived by two sisters, Catherine Brown, of Clarksburg, and Mary L. Mazzie, of Clarksburg; and a brother, James Roveto, of Fresno, Calif. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph H. Roveto, of Clarksburg, and Louis J. Roveto, of Carlton, Mich.; and two sisters, Virginia Nardella and Rose Roveto, both of Clarksburg. Friends may call at Bartolo Funeral Home, 515 W. Pike St., Clarksburg, from 9 a.m.- 9 p.m. Monday, with a Scriptual Wake Service at 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 17, at St. James Catholic Church with Father Robert A. Irene Antonelli
Irene Antonelli, 94, of Unity Manor, Morgantown, died Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at Monongalia General Hospital. She was born April 1, 1907, in Sunshine, Pa., daughter of the late John and Agnes Mangino Bartley. She was a member of St. Theresa Roman Catholic Church for more than 50 years and was retired from the Morgantown Glass Factory after 30 years of service. She is survived by two daughters and a spouse, Rita Hawkins, of Morgantown, and Jane and Douglas Deusenberry, of Star City; five grandchildren, Dennis Deusenberry, of Grafton, Cindy Miranov, of Harmony Grove, Robert Allan Hawkins, of Clayton, Ga., Alfred R. Hawkins, of Bethelham, Ga., and Michael W. Hawkins, of Viola, Tenn.; and eight great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Antonelli; five sisters; three brothers; and a son-in-law, Percival Hawkins. Friends may call at Hastings Funeral Home from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m Thursday, with a Scripture Wake service at 8:30 p.m, and from 10 a.m. Friday, April 20, until the 11 a.m. service at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Star City, with the Rev. Colombo Bandiera as celebrant. Burial will be in Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.

Beverly Ann Jenkins
Beverly Ann Jenkins, 44, of Springfield, died Monday, April 16, 2001, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Cumberland, Md. She was born Dec. 28, 1956, in Morgantown, daughter of the late James A. and Mary McKinney Jenkins. She worked for Anjon Repair Center and was Protestant. She donated her time to the Deaf and Blind School in Romney. She is survived by a son and spouse, James Andrew and Christy Javosky, of Blacksville; two brothers and a spouse, Bill and Barbara Jenkins and David Jenkins, all of Morgantown; a grandson, Andrew Skye Javosky, of Blacksville; four nieces, Christy Smallwood, of Fairmont, Jennifer Jenkins and Connie Jenkins, both of Westover, and Mary Jenkins, of Cassville; and a great-niece, Gabrielle Jenkins. Friends may call at McCulla Funeral Home from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday. Service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 19, with the Rev. Jim Troy officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery.

Ray Nicholas
Ray Nicholas, 89, of Mon Pointe Personal Care Home, formerly of Clarksburg, died Sunday, April 8, 2001, at Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born Sept. 8, 1911, in Harrison County, son of the late Silas and Mandy Virginia Williams Nicholas. He was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church and loved to attend church wherever and whenever he could. He is survived by a brother, Troy Nicholas, of Gainesville, Fla.; a brother-in-law, John Mitchell, of Clarksburg; and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Dale, Terry and Clyde Nicholas; and four sisters, Flossie Nicholas, Faye Nicholas, Goldie Nicholas and Edith Mitchell. There will be no public visitation. A graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family. Davis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
