Helen Agnes Jordan
Helen Agnes Jordan, 73, of Vienna, died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2001, at St. Joseph Hospital. She was born in Oakland, Md., daughter of the late Albert and Mary Zilinec Jordan. She graduated from St. Francis DeSales High School in Morgantown and later attended WVU. She worked in the College of Pharmacy. She was a member of the Parkersburg Toastmasters, Vienna VFW Post No. 8127 Ladies Auxiliary, and the Parkersburg American Legion Post No. 15 Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by her children and spouses, Treacy and Larry Engle, of Houston, Texas, Laurie Fossen, of St. Paul, Minn., and Terry and Peggy Woods, of Mankato, Minn.; three grandchildren, Brian Engle, of Houston, and Ashley and Tyler Woods, of Mankato; a sister, Libby Jordan, of Vienna. She was also preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters. Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, is in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation or service. Albert L. DeWitt
Albert L. DeWitt, 96, of Kingwood, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2001, in Kingwood. He was born Sept. 13, 1905, in Preston County, son of the late John Wesley and Sarah Jane Stump DeWitt. He was a railroad trackman and was Protestant. He is survived by his wife, Lela E. Duley DeWitt; a son, Everett DeWitt, of Quinlan, Texas; two daughters, Betty Walls, of Kingwood, and Rosalee Benson, of Brunswick, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by two sons, Danny and Albert Lee DeWitt; a daughter, Kathryn Strawser; three brothers; two sisters; and four grandchildren. Friends may call at Browning Funeral Home, Kingwood, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday. Service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, with the Rev. Terry Cumberland officiating. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery.

Lois Katherine Conner
Lois Katherine Conner, 79, of Haymond Road, Grafton, died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2001, in Merrillville Ind., following a long illness. She was born June 11, 1922, daughter of the late John and Lois Paddock Taylor. She moved to Grafton with her husband, 20-year U.S. Navy veteran Clyde A. Conner, in 1986. She was a member of Grafton Baptist Church, active in VFW Ladies Auxiliary Memorial City Post No. 3081. She is survived by three sons, Stanley H. Conner Sr., of El Cajon, Calif., Clyde A. Conner II, of Merrillville, Ind., and Michael P. Conner, of Grafton; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Warren and Bobby Taylor. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clyde A. Conner, on Jan. 1, 1999. Friends may call at Donald G. Ford Funeral Home, U.S. Route 50 West, Grafton, from 7:30-9 p.m. Sunday. Kimberly A. McCormick
Kimberly Ann McCormick, infant, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2001, at Ruby Memorial Hospital. She was the daughter of Jerry K. and Barbara Arnold McCormick. She is also survived by a brother, Jerry K. McCormick Jr., at home; paternal grandparents, Gerald and Shirley McCormick, of Morgantown; and maternal grandmother, Mary Hill Baker, of Morgantown. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, at Nicholson Chapel Cemetery, with the Rev. Bennie Moran officiating.

Clara Louise Arrowood
Clara Louise Arrowood, 53, of Terra Alta, died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2001, at Monongalia General Hospital, Morgantown. She was born March 26, 1948, in Oakland, Md., daughter of the late William and Ida Tasker Grace. She was Protestant. She worked for Bethlehem Steel for 17 years as a machinist, and recently worked for Wal-Mart in Oakland as a greeter. She is survived by her husband, Robert K. Arrowood Sr.; a son, Robert K. Arrowood Jr., of Oakland; a daughter, Robin Marshall, of Baltimore; three brothers, Calvin Grace, Bill Grace and John Grace, all of Baltimore; and two grandchildren, Tiffany Tracey and Matthew Arrowood. Friends may call at Arthur H. Wright Funeral Home, Terra Alta, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday, and from 11 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 30 until the 2 p.m. service, with Pastor Barry Adkins officiating.

Christopher Stewart Gray
Christopher Stewart Gray, 32, of Manalapan, N.J., died Tuesday, Sept 11, 2001, as a result of the World Trade Center tragedy. He was born Feb. 4, 1969, in Paterson, N.J., son of James and Janet Gray. He graduated from Manalapan High School in 1987 after serving as co-captain of the football team and as starter on the basketball team. He was awarded an athletic scholarship to West Virginia University, where he was a quarterback for the Mountaineers from 1987-1991. In 1992, he signed a free agency contract with the Miami Dolphins. Shortly thereafter, he returned to WVU to further pursue his studies. After obtaining a master's degree in education in 1994, he relocated to New Jersey and began a career as a foreign exchange broker for the New York City firm Lasser Marshall. He later took a position with Cantor Fitzgerald where he worked for three years. He is also survived by his brothers Jay and Tim, also of Manalapan, and his fiancee Kelly Gangwer, of Morgantown, whom he was to marry May 18, 2002. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 11 a.m. Oct. 4, at the Milan Puskar Center, Thomas Room, Willowdale Road, Morgantown. Donations: "Chris Gray Memorial Football Scholarship Fund" at WVU. Donations should be made payable to "MAC Chris Gray" and sent to: Mountaineer Athletic Club, P.O. Box 0877, Morgantown, WV 26507. All contributions will be used to fund a scholarship in his memory for a WVU football student athlete. Todd E. Dittman
Todd Edward Dittman, 26, of Wadestown, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, at home. He was born Oct. 14, 1974, in Morgantown, son of Wallace and Diana Shrout Dittman, of Blacksville. He worked at Hinerman Forest Products, in Blacksville. He is also survived by two brothers, Scott Dittman, of Marienville, Pa., and Randy Dittman, of Core; a sister, Becky Dittman, of Morgantown; his paternal grandfather, Charles "Chuck" Dittman, of St. Petersburg, Pa.; his maternal grandmother, Billie Lea Shrout, of Blacksville; a niece, Alexandra Dittman; and three nephews, Jacob Dittman, Bradon Dittman and Jesse Dittman. Charles Diaz
Word has been received of the death of Charles Raymond Diaz, 54, of Columbus, Ohio, and formerly of Clarksburg, on Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2001, at home. He was born April 5, 1947, in Clarksburg, son of the late Julie and Eleanor Moine Diaz. He worked 34 years as a letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the Flight Operations Division. He was a 1965 graduate of Notre Dame High School in Clarksburg, and attended Fairmont State College for three years. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Columbus, and was a former member of St. James Catholic Church in Northview, Clarksburg, where he was an altar server. He is survived by his wife, Linda Farnsworth Diaz, whom he married May 4, 1968; two sons, Christopher Matthew Diaz and his wife, Tina, of Columbus, and Andrew Nicholas Diaz, at home; a daughter, Amy Renee Allen and her husband, Michael, of Bozeman, Mont.; three aunts, Norma Diaz, Charlene Fahey and Daisy Diaz; five nephews, Roger "Ro" Gorby, Michael Gorby, Marcus Gorby, Ronald Moore and Billy Hawkins; two nieces, Erica Gorby and Lorri Dawn Moore Capps; a sister, Juliann Diaz Gorby, of Clarksburg; a grandson, Mason Stratton Allen; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. He was also preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Gloria Alonso and Ramon Diaz; and his maternal grandparents, Charles and Eupharasia Moine. Friends may call at Bartolo Funeral Home, 515 W. Ruth Clelland
Sarah Ruth Hanley Clelland, 89, of Fairmont, died Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, at Fairmont General Hospital. She was born Aug. 12, 1912, in Mannington, daughter of the late Daniel James and Ethel Webster Rogerson Hanley. She was a 1929 graduate of Mannington High School and also graduated from Fairmont Normal School, now Fairmont State College. She was a teacher and began her career in a one-room schoolhouse at Big Run, Mannington. She was a 60-year member of (Evangelical United Brethren) Christ United Methodist Church, where she served 42 years as church organist. She enjoyed miniature golf, bowling in the Senior Citizens Bowling League and doing volunteer work at Fairmont General Hospital, where she was honored for volunteering for more than 1,000 hours. She was an avid East Fairmont High School sports fan. She volunteered or held memberships in several organizations and civic groups, including the United Methodist Womens Society, Womens Club of Fairmont, AARP, Penavalen, Owens-Illinois auxiliary, the Girl Scouts of America, Union Mission auxiliary and United Methodist Rummage Sale Committee. She was known affectionately as "Gubby" by her grandchildren. She is survived by three children and spouses, Bill and Jackie Clelland, of Lake Elsinor, Calif., Sally and Marty Johnson, of Fairmont, and Susan and Gary Ryan, of Parkersburg; a daughter-in-law, Linda Clelland, of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; a sister, Ethel Jenkins, of Buckhannon; 15 grandchildren and spouses, Joy and Steve Heil, Brenda and Bill Rundle, Terry Clelland, Michael Scott and Odalis Clelland, Andy Gutierrez, Pauline and Tim Tyree, Joe Clelland, Cheri and Bob Catalano, Kathleen and David Hilyer, Debbie and Martin Garcia, Susa and Craig Rogers, Dianna and Rick Kimble, Bill and Gina Johnson, Sally and John Massey and Missy Ryan; and 30 great-grandchildren. Virginia H. Warner
Virginia H. Warner, 71, of Brunswick Court, Morgantown, died Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, at Ruby Memorial Hospital. She was born April 3, 1930, in Binghampton, N.Y., daughter of the late Norris B. and Pluma F. Haywood Harding. She worked 20 years at Sprint Communications in North Carolina. She was an avid bowler and member of the "Early Risers" bowling league. She was an active volunteer with the American Red Cross and local recycling projects. She is survived by a daughter and spouse, Cheryl and Michael Perone, of Morgantown; a son and spouse, James and Terry Warner, of Jacksonville, N.C.; three brothers and spouse, Charles and Beverly Harding, of Binghampton, William Harding, of California, and Thomas Harding, of Carbondale, Pa.; a sister, Eva White, of Michigan; three grandsons and spouse, Nicholas Perone, Dustin and Leslie Warner, and Daniel Warner; and a granddaughter, Nora Perone. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Glenn W. Warner; and a brother, Frank Harding. The body will be cremated. Emma Belle Lee, 81, of Terra Alta, died Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, at home. She was born June 19, 1920, in Buckhannon, daughter of the late Frank and Rickie Bennett Knight. She was retired from Hopemont, where she had worked in food services. She was Baptist. She is survived by her husband, Ora O. Lee; a daughter and spouse, Patricia Ann and Tim Hurley, of Chardon, Ohio; two cousins, Basil Lake, of Orwell, Ohio, and Daisy Burg, of Clarksburg; a nephew and spouse, Earl and Karen Bennett, of Jefferson Hills, Pa.; three nieces and spouses, Cathy and Charles Crowl, of Fuquay Varina, N.C., Kim and Jerry Mazza, of Cleveland, Tenn., and Elizabeth Pierce, of Akron, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Rebecca Bennett, of Hepzibah; a close friend, Cliff Likens, of Terra Alta; two grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Coleman King
Coleman Franklin King, 70, of Melvin Fields Road, Cheat Lake, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, at Monongalia General Hospital. He was born Dec. 20, 1930, at Cheat Lake, son of the late Ray and Vernie Eckert King. He retired from the street department of the City of Morgantown with 20 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was Pentecostal. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mildred Ann Metz King; two brothers, William R. King, of Cheat Lake, and Melton Lewis, of Uniontown, Ohio; a sister, Kathleen Kyer, of Cheat Lake; and a sister-in-law, Margaret C. Teasdale, of Morgantown. Dale F. Morris
Dale Franklin Morris, 55, of Newburg, died Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, at United Hospital Center, Clarksburg. He was born Nov. 27, 1946, in Grafton, son of the late Frank Morris and Margaret DeMoss. He worked several years as a miner for Consolidation Coal Co. He was a member of the United Mine Workers and Moose Lodge in Grafton. He is survived by two sons and spouses, David and Tricia Morris, of Pensacola, Fla., and Dana Shane and Julie Morris, of Tucson, Ariz.; two brothers, Don Morris, of Newburg, and Skippy Morris, of Philippi; a sister, Joyce Jennings, of Fellowsville; two grandchildren, Seth and Aidan Morris; and a companion, Joyce Adams, of Newburg. A private visitation for the family will be at Hastings Funeral Home, Morgantown, from 9 a.m. Monday, Oct. 1, until the 11 a.m. service, with the Rev. Delbert Lyons officiating.
