Chester Angle, 73, of Brenton, WV went home to be with the Lord on Saturday September 10,
2011 after a long illness. He was born October 21, 1937 in Covel, WV, a son of the late Hugh and
Mary Church Angle. He attended the Pineville Church of God. He was a loving husband, father,
grandfather and uncle who loved spending time with his family especially his grandkids. In addition
to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers Ted, Frank and Garland Angle; sisters
Pauline Miller, Lessie Pullin and Ona Bayne. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving
wife of 44 years who was by his side to the end, Wanda Angle; sons Chester D. Angle and
companion Kim Campbell of Beaver Creek, OH, Humphery E. Angle and companion Melissa Lynch
of Waynesville, OH; a daughter Gail Howard and husband Larry of McGraws; four grandchildren
that he thought the world of Alissa Angle and companion Chris Callison of Xenia, OH, Kimberly
Angle and companion Edger Lee of Xenia, OH, Lindsey and Jacob Howard of McGraws, WV and
a great granddaughter Payton Lee of Xenia, OH; four special nieces Phyllis New and Carol Stewart
of Wyoming, Janice Johnston of Baileysville and Jackie Klein; along with many other nieces,
nephews and other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held at noon on Wednesday
September 14, 2011 at the Pineville Church of God with Pastor Norman Gray officiating. He will
be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV. Friends may gather with the family from
6 – 9:00 PM on Tuesday September 13, 2011 at the church and one hour before service time on
Wednesday. The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV.

Wayne Ellett Acord, 51, of Corinne, WV, passed away September 12, 2011 at Raleigh
General Hospital. He was born January 20, 1960 in Mullens, WV a son of the late Roy Lee
Acord and Ruby Edith Patterson Acord. Wayne was a self employed chicken farmer and a
graduate of Mullens High School. Survivors include his loving wife Elaine Victoria Crouse
Acord; two daughters Jennifer Renna Acord of Corinne and Brianna Forrest of Beckley; his
mother Ruby Edith Patterson Acord of Gary, WV; a sister Carol (Ott) Kennedy of Jumping
Branch; three brothers Roger (Lavern) Acord of Mullens, Roy Randall Acord of Jumping
Branch and Douglas (Shirley) Acord of Corinne; and a host of other loving family and
friends. Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday September 17, 2011 in the
Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, with Bro. Butch White officiating. He
will be laid to rest in Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton, WV. Friends may call from
6 – 9:00 PM on Friday September 16, 2011 at the funeral home. The family is being served by the
Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV.

Charlotte Mae McLaughlin Hatfield, 82, of Skin Fork, WV, formerly of Marianna, WV,
passed away September 29, 2011 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was
born April 17, 1929 in Charleston, WV, a daughter of the late William and Edith Parker
McLaughlin. She was a homemaker and attended the Brenton Baptist Church. Also
preceding her in death was her husband Harold Lloyd Hatfield, Sr.; a daughter Shelia
Diane Hatfield; a son Eddie Hatfield and seven siblings. Survivors include a daughter
Brenda Kay (Phil) Moles of Elkview, WV; a son Harold Lloyd “Bubbles” (Linda) Hatfield,
Jr. of Skin Fork, WV; five sisters Mildred Hopping of Deland, FL, Faye (James) Cook of
Lebanon, TN, Maxine (Bob) Brantley of Deland, FL, Frances (Chester) Cantrell of
Brenton, WV and Shirley Shannon of Mt. Vernon, WV; a brother Ronald (Janet)
McLaughlin of Grandview, WV; six grandchildren Cindy (Cheynne) McLamb, Angela
(Sam) Juniper, Fred (Carla) Hatfield, Christy (Brian) Bailey, Rick (Mariesa) Hatfield and
Sabrina Hatfield; twelve great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren and a host of
other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held at noon Monday October 3,
2011 in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, with Pastor Tommy
Knotts officiating. She will be laid to rest in Hatfield cemetery, Baileysville, WV. Friend
may gather with the family on Sunday October 2, 2011 from 5 - 8:00 PM at the funeral
home. Pallbearers will be grandsons and great grandsons. A special thank you to the
Hospice Angels and the staff of Raleigh General Hospital SICU for their loving care of
mom. The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV.

Syonia Jean Smith, 44, of New Richmond, WV, passed away on Saturday
October 1, 2011 in Raleigh General Hospital following a long illness. She was born
October 7, 1966 in Mullens, WV a daughter of Margaret Ann Short Browning of
New Richmond, WV and the late Ricky Eugene Smith. Syonia was a CNA and a
homemaker. Her step-father William L. Blankenship also preceded her in death.
Survivors include her loving mother Margaret A. Browning of New Richmond; four
daughters April Tilley and husband Phillip of Bluefield, WV, Amy Hope Shumate
and companion Tony Fuller of Glen Rogers, WV, Samantha Shumate of Kentucky
and Christa Blankenship and husband Timmy of Oceana, WV; a son Gary Dean
Tilley, Jr. of McGraws, WV; her companion Jessie Lee Blankenship of New
Richmond, WV; eleven grandchildren; a sister Tammy Beckner and husband
Timmy of Holly Hills, WV; a brother Samuel Steven Browning and wife Andrea of
New Richmond, WV; and a host of other loving family and friends. In keeping with
Syonia’s wishes she will be cremated. There will be no public services. Burial of
her cremains will be in Pine Grove cemetery, Ravencliff, WV at a later date. The
family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV.

Vern F. Short, 91, of Clear Fork, WV, was swept away in the arms of angels to be with the
Lord on Wednesday October 5, 2011 at his home. Vern was born August 4, 1920 in
Mohawk, WV, a son of the late Walter and Hannah Mullins Short. His loving wife of almost
66 years Mary Reba Allen Short, a daughter Linda Lou Conley Lester, a daughter-in-law
Frances “Frankie” Short, and a son-in-law Robert Conley, also preceded him in death
along with his daddy Bert Short, three sisters Edith Short, Inez Cook and Juanita Morgan
Cook; and two brothers Bert Short, Jr and Fred Short. He was a member of the Clear Fork
Independent Church of God and a US Army WW II Veteran. Vern was a retired coal miner
having worked at Harris, Red Jacket, Lynco and Marianna Coal Companies. Survivors
include two daughters Carolyn Cline and husband Tony of Clear Fork, WV and Wilma
Short and husband Jackie of Waldorf, MD; a son Charles Short of Fredricksburg, VA; a son-
in-law Curtis "Sammy" Lester of Clear Fork, WV; two sisters Erdene Snider and husband
Howard of Princeton, WV and Verlee Stewart of Matheny, WV; two brothers Kermit “Dutch”
Short and wife Reva of Matheny, WV and Wonnie Short and wife Chestine of Clear Fork,
WV; six grandsons Tony Shane Cline, Johnny Short, Tommy Short, Bradley Short, Craig
Short and Mark Lester; two granddaughters Kathy Short and Alicia Beladi Mosavi; twenty
great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; and a host of other loving family and
friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday October 8, 2011 at Clear Fork
Independent Church of God with Rev. Hannibal Blankenship, Jr. officiating. Vern will be
laid to rest in the Vern and Mary Short Family cemetery, Elk Lick, WV, military
graveside rites will be conducted by Wyoming County Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may
call from 12 - 2:00 PM Saturday at the church. Pallbearers will be grandchildren. The family
wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Lao and staff, Hospice of Southern West Virginia,
PCH Home Healthcare, special caregivers Tony Cline, Shane Cline and daughters Carolyn
and Wilma, Eddie and Freda Aliff, his little buddy Tanda and Sammy Walker of Mountain
Heart for all the hours she set and read to dad. The family is being served by the Stafford Family
Funeral Home, Lynco, WV.

Virginia "Sis" Grace Harris Allen, 85, of Lillydale, WV went home to be with the Lord on Saturday
February 5, 2011 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 27, 1925 at
Lookout, WV, a daughter of the late James Harris and Thuries Proctor Harris Mullins. She was a
homemaker, member of the Lynco Pentecostal House of Prayer, and a mighty servant of God. Her
husband Henry Allen also preceded her in death along with a son Roger Dale Allen; three brothers Mike,
James and Leonard Mullins; and a sister Margaret Harvey. Survivors include four daughters Darlene
Francis Allen of Lillydale, Ruth Ann Allen of Ashland, KY, Arlene Faye Al-Younis of Oceana, and Retha
Carol Allen of Oceana; grandchildren Tiffany Nicole Allen, Natasha Ryan Walls and fiancée Michael
Osborne, Zachary Kyle Bailey, Austin Tyler Allen and Roger Dale Allen, Jr.; great grandchildren Logan
Skylar Dale Allen, Dillon Slade Cordell Allen, and Ethan Ray Lusk; two sisters Gloria Roberts and husband
Johnny of Laurel Branch and Teresa Toler and husband Harry of Simon; two brothers Billy Mullins and wife
Leann of Meadow Bridge and Paul Mullins of Las Vegas, NV; and a host of other loving family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday February 8, 2011 in the Lynco Pentecostal House of
Prayer with Pastor Firg Proffitt and Rev. Timmy Kennedy officiating. She will be laid to rest in Palm
Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV. Friends may gather with the family from 6 – 9:00 PM on Monday
February 7, 2011 at the church. The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV.

Larry Gene Marcum, 68, of Kopperston, WV, left this world after a courageous battle with cancer on
Thursday February 3, 2011 in the Beckley Veterans Administration Medical Center. Larry opened his
eyes in heaven and heard the Lord say to him “Well done thou good and faithful servant”. He was born
November 16, 1942, at Peach Creek, WV a son of the late James Harrison and Ruth Aliene Thornhill
Marcum. He was a retired coal miner, member of the Joseph Baptist Church, and a US Air Force
Veteran. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother Rebecca
Marcum, grandfather George Riley Marcum; and a grandson Brian Joseph William Marcum. Larry loved
going to nursing homes and spreading God’s word. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving
wife of 46 years Jane Bernice Fisher Marcum; two sons Harry Gene Marcum and wife Tammy and Riley
Waitman Marcum and wife Angela; two daughters Martha Jane Marcum and companion Thomas
McKinney and Mary Ruth Marcum and companion Kenny Acord; a brother Geroge Marcum; a sister
Faye Marcum and husband Paul; Larry’s most precious gift grandchildren Rebecca, Kanisha, BreAnna,
Joey, Kaila, Dana, Katie, Megan, Kathy, Zachary and Tommy; and a host of other loving family and
friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday February 6, 2011 at Joseph Baptist
Church, Lynco, WV with Pastor William Cook officiating. Burial will follow in the Brooks Marcum
cemetery, Crany, WV. Military rites will be conducted by the Wyoming County Veterans Honor Guard.
Friends may gather with the family from 11:00 AM until service time at the church. The family is being served by the
Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV.

Thomas Chad Maynard, 24, of Crany, WV went home with the Lord to heaven on Monday January 31,
2011 at his home. He was born March 28, 1986 in Beckley, WV a son of the late James Harold Maynard,
Jr. and Tammy Lynn Velos Maynard. He was a 2004 graduate of Westside High School and loved to fish
and work with computers. Survivors include a brother James Harold Maynard, III and companion Rebecca
Lamb of Crany, WV; a niece Tammy Ann Maynard of Crany, WV; grandparents Charles Fredrick and
Nancy Lee Johnson Havert of Fairdale, WV and James Harold and Georgina “Gina” Ferrari Maynard, Sr.
of Lillyhaven, WV; aunts and uncles Darlene Blankenship of Fairdale, WV and Trina Cline and husband
Jeff of Pineville, WV, Tina Maynard Redden and husband Billy of Oceana, WV, Louie James Velos of
Beckley, WV, Johnny Josef Maynard and wife Regina of Fayetteville, WV and Donald Maynard and wife
Charlene of Oceana, WV; cousins Misty Willard, Christy Plumley, Danelle Perez, John Maynard, Jr.,
Ashley Clark, Shannon Redden, Taylor Cline and Clifford Blankenship; a special cousin Kody Blackburn;
and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday February
4, 2011 in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV. He will be laid to rest beside his
mom in Cook cemetery, Lynco, WV. Friends may gather with the family from 11:00 am until service time
at the funeral home. The
family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV.

Tammy Lynn Velos Maynard, 50, of Crany, WV went home with the Lord to heaven on Monday January
31, 2011 at her home. She was born January 12, 1961 in Chicago, IL. She was a loving mother. She was
preceded in death by a son Thomas Chad Maynard. Survivors include a son James Harold Maynard, III
and companion Rebecca Lamb of Crany, WV; a granddaughter Tammy Ann Maynard of Crany, WV; her
dad and mom Charles Fredrick and Nancy Lee Johnson Havert of Fairdale, WV; two sisters Darlene
Blankenship of Fairdale, WV and Trina Cline and husband Jeff of Pineville, WV; a brother Louie James
Velos of Beckley, WV; niece and nephew Clifford Blankenship and Taylor Cline; a very close friend Ruth
Cook; and many uncles, aunts, and other family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on
Friday February 4, 2011 in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV with Pastor Bill
Goode officiating. She will be laid to rest in Cook cemetery, Lynco, WV. Friends may gather with the
family from 11:00 am until service time at the funeral home. The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home,
Lynco, WV.
