Naomi Linville Elkins, 83, of Rockwell, NC, formerly of Oceana, WV passed away on Saturday May 19,
2012 at the Laurels of Salisbury, Salisbury, NC. She was born May 3, 1929 in Man, WV a daughter of the
late Carl and Ida Osborne Linville. She was a homemaker and a member of the Clear Fork Valley Baptist
Church. In addition to her parents her loving husband of 50 years John Elkins, Jr. also preceded her in
death along with a sister Barbara Ann Stroupe and a brother Grover Linville. Survivors include two
daughters Marsha Lee Morgan and husband Bobby of Las Vegas, NV and Carolyn Woolwine and
husband Norman of Rockwell, NC; a brother Howard Linville of Oceana, WV; two grandsons Shane
Morgan of Las Vegas, NV and Tate Morgan of Seattle, WA; a granddaughter Alex Woolwine of Rockwell,
NC; a great granddaughter Sidnee Morgan of Ravenswood, WV; and a host of other loving family and
friends. Graveside services will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday May 25, 2012 in Palm Memorial Gardens
Mausoleum, Matheny WV with Pastor Erwin Gregory officiating. He will be laid to rest beside her
husband in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV. Friends may gather with the family on Friday May 25,
2012 from 11- 11:30 AM at the mausoleum. The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home,
Lynco, WV.

James Wyth Saylor, 67, of Ikes Fork, WV passed away May 20, 2012 in Charleston Area Medical Center
after a long illness. He was born July 28, 1944 in Accoville, WV, a son of the late Nancy Jane Brummette
and Radford Saylor. He was a retired coal miner and an Army Veteran. In addition to his parents he was
preceded in death by three brothers George Curtis Saylor, Radford Saylor, and Jerry Lee Saylor; two
sisters Betty Jean Goodman, and Nancy Carol Walker, and a grandson Mathew Walker. Those left to
cherish his memory are his loving wife Melody Saylor; three daughters Jamie Saylor (Marshall Reed) of
Ikes Fork, WV, Heather Vance (Mike Byrd) of Skin Fork, WV, and Jessica Smith (Mike Mathews) of Ikes
Fork, WV; two sons James Walker of Accorville, WV, and Radford (Kaitlyn) Smith of Keyrock, WV; a sister
Jeannette (Gene) Brummit of Virginia; seven grandchildren James Saylor and Nathanial Reed of Ikes Fork,
WV, Paige and Raylee Vance of Skin Fork, WV, Kandra Mathews of Ikes Fork, WV, Bentley Smith of
Keyrock, WV, and Corey Walker of Accoville, WV; two special friends Randy Cline of Ikes Fork, WV, and
Robert Rollins of Pence Springs, WV; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be
held at 1:00 PM on Friday May 25, 2012 in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV
with the Rev. James Cline officiating. He will be laid to rest in Paris Lester cemetery, Ikes Fork, WV.
Friends may gather with the family on Thursday May 24, 2012 from 6- 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Randy Cline, Mike Byrd, Mike Mathews, Mikey Byrd, Radford Smith, Alvin Vance,

Shelia Ann Carbaugh Daugherty, 45, of Kopperston, WV, went to heaven to be an angel with Nyrmal
on Tuesday May 22, 2012 at her home following a long illness. Shelia was born May 5, 1967 in Welch,
WV. She was a homemaker and a loving mother and daughter. Her daughter Nyrmal Ann Daugherty
preceded her in death along with two brothers Billy Odell Carbaugh and Gary Lee “Jack Rabbit”
Carbaugh; a sister Amanda Dawn Blankenship; maternal grandparents Elliott and Lena Rogers Carbaugh
and an uncle Eugene Carbaugh. Survivors include her loving husband Matthew “Matt” Daugherty; her
mother Dolly Carbaugh of Oceana, WV; three daughters Megan Daugherty of Beckley, Sarah Daugherty
and Marsha Daugherty both of Kopperston; three sons M.J. Daugherty of Kopperston, Timothy Sams, Jr.
of Oceana and Jacob Sams of Saulsville; three grandchildren Diego Mendoza, Amanda Daugherty and
Cynthia Daugherty; and another grandchild due to arrive in September of 2012; and a host of other loving
family and friends. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday May 26, 2012 at the Lynco
Pentecostal House of Prayer, Lynco, WV with Pastor Firg Proffitt officiating. Shelia will be laid to rest
beside her daughter in the Kopperston Community cemetery, Kopperston, WV. Friends may gather
with the family from 6 – 9:00 PM on Friday at the church. The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco,
WV.

Harvey “Hoppy” Lawson, Jr., 59, of Pineville, WV passed away on Sunday May 27, 2012 at his home.
He was born February 14, 1953 in Tazewell, VA a son of the late Harvey and Elizabeth Baldwin Lawson,
Sr.. He was a licensed Minister. Also preceding him in death were two brothers Jerry and Frank Lawson.
Survivors include three sisters Carol Shumate of Glen Fork, Marie Lawson of Oceana and Darlene
Brayton of Florida; five brothers Kenneth Baldwin and Tommy Baldwin both of Bishop, VA, Alfred Lawson
and Johnny Lawson both of Pineville and William “Bill” Lawson of Oceana; A special niece Elizabeth
Cook; many nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM
on Friday June 1, 2012 in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco with Pastor Ricky
Proffitt officiating. Hoppy will be laid to rest beside his mother in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV.
Friends may gather with the family from 6 - 9:00 PM on Thursday May 31, 2012 at the funeral home.

Mary Jane Halsey Lambert, 72, of Sophia, WV formerly New Richmond, passed away on Friday June
15, 2011 at Bowers Hospice House, Beckley, WV. She was born July 3, 1939 in Pineville, WV, a daughter
of the late Lacy and Eva Buchanan Halsey. Also preceding her in death were her husband Edward Preston
Lambert, a son Jerry Douglas Lambert, an infant daughter Rhonda Jane Lambert, a sister Jean Wallen,
and two brothers Alvin and Larry Halsey. She was a loving mother and wife. Survivors include a daughter
Debra Jennings of Mooresville, NC; two sons Bobby Lambert and wife Kay of Mt. Hope, WV and Wayne
Lambert and wife Diane of Kegley, WV; six grandchildren Bobby (Stephanie) Lambert, Misty (Wesley)
Palmer, Brandon Lambert, Ashley Jennings and Donnie Jennings; seven great-grandchildren Bryson
Jennings, Aiden Lambert, Alyssa Lambert, Devon Palmer, Cameron Palmer, Dustin Palmer and Allie Mae
Smith; three sisters Linda (Clinton) Hamilton of Pineville, WV, Sharon (Jimmy) Johns of China Grove, NC
and Karen (Doug) Lattie of Bluefield, WV; a brother-in-law Howard H. Lambert of Mullens, WV; two
daughters-in-law Debbie McGraw Lambert of Mooresville, NC and Pamela Lambert of Sophia, WV and a
host of other loving family and friends. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday June 17, 2012
at the Jackson Curve cemetery, New Richmond, WV, with the Bro. Doug Thorn officiating. She will be
laid to rest in the Jackson Curve cemetery. The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home,
Lynco, WV.

Nona M’Lane “Tiny” Altizer Thomas Whitten, 82, of Fanrock, WV passed away on Sunday June 17,
2012 in Bowers Hospice House, Beckley, WV. She was born October 21, 1929 in Fanrock, WV a
daughter of the late John and Virginia Christian Altizer. Tiny was a member of the Briar Creek Tabernacle
and a retired Postmaster for 33 years at Fanrock, WV. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in
death by her first husband Jake Thomas and two sisters Helen Lusk and M’Ledge Altizer. Those left to
cherish her memory include her husband of 27 years Rev. Ralph Whitten; three sons Leonard Thomas
and wife Barbara of Hampton, VA, Lloyd Thomas of Virginia Beach, VA and Rick Whitten and wife Joyce
of Hurricane, WV; two daughters Debbie Sheets and husband Ron of Hurricane, WV and Pati Schwake
of Alpharetta, GA; two brothers Doug Altizer of Barboursville, WV and David Altizer of South Williamson,
KY; two sisters Frankie Short of Manassas, VA and Juanita Lusk of Fanrock, WV; eleven grandchildren
Sara, Aaron, Elisabeth, Drew, Curtis, John, Courtney, T.J., Erin, Justin and Natalie; fifteen great
grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and a host of other loving family and friends. Special thanks to
Jimmy, David and Linda Epperhart for all your help. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on
Thursday June 21, 2012 at the Briar Creek Tabernacle, Fanrock with Rev. Mervin Smith and Pastor
Ernie Francis officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Rose cemetery, Briar Creek, WV. Friends may
gather with the family from 6 – 9:00 PM on Wednesday June 20, 2012 at the church. In Lieu of flowers

Elskar Lee Hurley, 46, of Simon, WV passed away on Wednesday June 20, 2012. He was born March
28, 1966 in Welch, WV a son of the late Alda Robert and Hester Cline Hurley. He was a logger. In addition
to his parents he was also preceded in death by a granddaughter Zoey Graham, a sister Alice Faye Hurley
Cline, three nephews Dennis Cline, Jake Hurley and Quinten West. Survivors include two daughters
Lasosha Belcher and companion Joshua Graham and Natosha Belcher and companion Robert Graham all
of Oceana; a son Coby Lee Hurley and wife Alyssa of Oceana; four grandchildren Ethan Graham, Morgan
Graham, Collin Graham and Kynlee Hurley; seven sisters Judy Hurley and husband Arland of Rockhouse,
Betty Ann Hatfield and husband Arnold of Gilbert, Mrylene Hatfield and fiancé Donnie Lane of Hanover,
Brenda Cline and husband Dennie of Long Branch, Dreama Walls and fiancé Junior Bennett of Long
Branch, Bertie West of Hanover and Beatrice Toler and husband Arnold of Man; five brothers Dennie
Hurley, Bill Hurley and Randy Hurley all of Rockhouse, Benny Hurley of Bull Creek and Bobby Hurley and
wife Jo of TN; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on
Monday June 25, 2012 at the Long Branch Freewill Baptist Church, Simon, WV with Bro. Andy Bo
Kennedy officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Hurley cemetery, Long Branch, WV. Friends may call
after 6:00 PM on Saturday June 23, 2012 and Sunday June 24, 2012 at the church. Pallbearers will be
family and friends. The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV.

Earl Glenn McGarvey, 74, of Mallory, WV went home to be with the Lord on Saturday June 23, 2012 at
his home following a long battle with cancer. He was born November 12, 1937 in Cleveland, OH a son of
the late Earl Glenn and Dorothy Clark McGarvey. Earl was a disabled Navy veteran and a retired
mechanic of the White Motor Truck Corp. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to
many. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a sister Maddie McGarvey and a
brother Wallace McGarvey. Survivors include his loving wife of 41 years Helen Marie McGarvey; four
daughters Shelia (Walter) Rakes of Davin, WV, Carol (Steve) Adkins of Cyclone, Sandy (Kenneth B.)
Adkins of Cyclone, WV, and Melissa (Thurman) Burns of Mallory, WV; a son Darrel McGarvey of Michigan;
two brothers William McGarvey of Arizona, and Edward McGarvey of Ohio; 10 grandchildren Sarah
McGarvey, Ronnie McGarvey, Matthew Burns, and April McGarvey all of Mallory, Brandon (Kim) Adkins,
Sandra (James) Harrison, Brandie Adkins, Steve (Connie) Adkins, Jessica (Chad) Adkins all of Cyclone,
WV, and Kayla (Joey) Ratliff of Greenup, KY; 9 great grandchildren and 2 on the way; and a host of other
loving family and friends. Services will be from 6- 9:00 PM on Friday June 29, 2012 at the Davin Baptist
Church, Davin, WV with Rev. Paul Tomblin officiating. In keeping with Earl’s wishes his remains will be
cremated. The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV.

Betty Jean Griffith, 68, of Wyco, WV passed away on Thursday June 21, 2012 at her home following a
long illness. She was born June 1, 1944 in Glen Fork, WV a daughter of the late George and Minnie Allen
McMillion. She was a homemaker and attended the Allen Junction Church of God. In addition to her
parents, a granddaughter Amber Nicole Sweeny also preceded her in death along with three brothers
Emery, Elmer and Don Ed McMillion. Survivors include her loving husband of 53 years Benny Luther
Griffith; four daughters Edna (Jerry) Sergent of Rockview, Barbara (Larry) Blevins of Pineville, Rachele
(Travis) Cantley of Welch – Pineville Road and Maxie (Fred) Monk of Mullens; three sons John (Tina)
Griffith of Princeton, Benny (Kitti) Griffith Jr. of Wyco and Shawn Griffith of Wyco; four grandsons Dusty
Monk, Damon Hall Jeremy Sergent and Kenneth McMillion; eight granddaughters Lydia (Raymond) Hall,
America (Trey) Dodd, Sarah Hall, Layla Blevins, Courtney Hall, Salena Monk, Cheyenne Griffith and
Santana Griffith; six great grandchildren Tarrah Hall, Braylynn Hall, Jonah Dodd, Bentley Cline, Mila Monk
and due any day Noah Sargent; two sisters Sylvia Browning of Jesse and Sue (Mike) Belcher of Glen
Fork; two brothers Leroy (Julie) McMillion of Saulsville and John “Greely” McMillion of Glen Fork; and a
host of other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 on Tuesday June 26, 2012 in
the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco with Rev Ernie Francis officiating. She will be laid
to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV. Friends may call from 6 – 9:00 PM on Monday June
25, 2012 at the funeral home. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home,
Lynco, WV.
