Tangee Carol Paynter, 45, of Oceana, WV passed away on Monday April 28, 2014 at her home. She was born July 29, 1968 in Welch, WV a daughter of Benjamin and Nancy Acord Paynter of Oceana. Tangee Received her Heavenly Reward when she departed her home surrounded by her loving Family here on Earth And joined her Heavenly Family & Home that were so glad her trials and strife as she had battled Cancer for so long on this earth were finally over and she had made it to her Heavenly Home. Although born in West Virginia Tangee grew up and was educated in Detroit, Michigan and came back home to West Virginia to be With her Family several years ago. Tangee attended the Joseph Baptist Church of Lynco WV; she loved her Pastor William Cook and Church Family. Tangee loved Life she loved her Family, and her Children & Grandchildren were her pride, She loved Family Reunions was always so glad to see everyone, and she loved Races and Race Cars, Crossword Puzzles. She was in Love with Life and all it had to offer. She is preceded in death by a sister Tera Mischele Paynter, paternal grandparents Arnold M. Paynter, and Martha H. Paynter Paynter ; and maternal grandparents Robert Acord JR, and Myrtle L. Hager Acord. Those left to cherish her memory are her parents Benjamin Thomas and Nancy Carol Acord Paynter; two sons Thomas Benjamin Paynter and (fiancé’ Christa Blankenship), and Tyler Brian Peach all of Lynco; a grandson Trystyn Paynter; one step- grandson Noah Blankenship of Lynco; a precious step-daughter Mariah Jane Ianni of Novi, Michigan that she loved dearly; two brothers Robert (Tina) Paynter, and Dakota Paynter of Oceana; three sisters Lisa Ann Paynter and companion Michael Morgan of Simon, Tonja Laramie of Lynco, and Betina Paynter and fiance’ Robert Burton of Oceana; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins that loved her dearly. Memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday May 1, 2014 at the Joseph Baptist Church with Pastor William Cook officiating. Friends may gather with the family from noon – 4:00 PM on Thursday May 1, 2014 at the church. The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV.

Kathryn Diane “Kathy Dee” Harper Cox, 42 of Lynco, WV passed away on Friday May 2, 2014 at Raleigh General Hospital following a short illness. She was born May 5, 1971 in Beckley, WV, a daughter of Pamela Elaine Hall Worrell and husband Darrell who was her rock of Oceana, WV and the late Melvin Craig Harper. In addition to her father she was preceded in death by her grandparents Melvin and Loretta Harper, James and Elaine Hall and Lawrence and Lorene Worrell and a special aunt Susie Hall. Kathy Dee was a member of Lillyhaven Baptist Church. Survivors include her loving husband Steven E. Cox, Jr.; a daughter Jade Cox of Lynco; four sons J.C. Cook of San Diego, CA, Timothy Osborne III of Cyclone, Steven “Boo” Cox, III of Lynco and Brian; a grandson Silas Cook; three sisters Duwan (Pat) Whitten of Glen Daniels, Amanda (John) Henry of Daniels, Jessica (Ryan) Balsley of Davisville, and Lynn (James) Tilley of Oceana; a brother Billy (Amy) Harper of Sammanish, WA; mother and father-in-law Ruby and Steven E. Cox of Lynco; three aunts Diane “D” (Jerry) Wolfe of Hurricane, Kathy (Pat) Martin of Morgantown, Dottie (Larry) Lilly of Batesville, AR; uncles Sam Hall of Beckley and Dennis (Carolyn) Worrell of Oceana; Special uncles and friends Tracy Cox of Lillydale and Charles Morgan of Lynco; nieces and nephews Sarah, Evan and Macy Harper, Lila, Maggie and Jenson Whitten and MacKenzie and Korbin Henry; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday May 6, 2014 at the Toneda Missionary Baptist Church, Kopperston, with Rev. Algie Cook and Pastor James Hamrick officiating. Kathy Dee’s cremains will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV at a later date. Friends may gather with the family on Monday May 5, 2014 from 6 – 9:00 pm at the church. Teresa Lynn Ford, 38 of Matoaka, formerly of Brier Creek, WV, passed away. She was born December 25, 1974, a daughter of Vera Potter of Helen and the late Buddy Ford. Teresa was a 1993 graduate of Baileysville High School. In addition to her father she was preceded in death by her grandparents Lewis and Inez Ford and Ott and Margaret Stafford; a brother Basil Shields; and a special aunt Dorothy Clay. Survivors include her mother Vera Potter of Helen; step-father Russell Potter of Helen; two sons Ryan Chase Allen of Mullens, and Mykal Andru Key of TN; two sisters Marilyn Shields (Brad) Toler of Clear Fork, and Lesa Ann Ford (Shawn) Cook of Fayetteville; three brothers Robert Shields of Haymarket, VA, Randy (Carol) Shields of Beckley, and Buddy (Jackie) Ford of Severville, TN; and a host of other loving family and friends. Memorial services will be 6:00 PM Saturday May 10, 2014 in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV. Friends may gather with the family from 5:00 pm until service time at the funeral home. Special thanks to Matoaka Chief of Police Tommy Anderson, and the WV State Police for all their help! Judy Gail Compton Cook, 63, of Wyoming, WV passed away on Friday, May 9, 2014 in Welch Community Hospital. She was born March 20, 1951 in Pikeville, KY a daughter of late James Edward and Esteleen Akers Compton. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years Garland Franklin Cook; five brothers Lucien, Carl, Hershell, Donald Ray and Mark Compton; two sisters Fayetta Compton, and Vicky Lambert; and an infant daughter Judy Ann Cook. Survivors include three sons James (Kecia) Cook of Coal City, Joe (Melinda) Cook of Mt. Airy, NC, and David (Natalie) Cook of IN; five sisters Lou Hawks Baker of Brenton, Patricia Ramsey of Bud, Faye Sturgill of Coal City, Glenda Of Raliegh, NC, and Rosemary Haynes of Brenton; three brothers Edward Dean Compton of Allen Jct., David Compton and Lee “Punkin” Compton both of Wyoming; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held at Noon on Tuesday April 13, 2014 at the Brenton Community Church, Brenton, WV, with Rev. Paul Compton officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Compton Family cemetery, Skin Fork, WV. Friends may gather with the family from 6-9: 00 PM on Monday May 12, 2014 at the church. Minnis Osborne, 73, of Cyclone, WV departed this life on Monday, May 12, 2014 at his home. He was born July 17, 1940 in Lorado, WV a son of the late Wavy Osborne Daniels. Minnis was a member of the Bright Prospect Missionary Baptist Church. He was the Sunday School Superintendant for 40 ½ years, and Sunday School Teacher for 43 years. Minnis worked for Eastern Associated Coal Corp. at Kopperston, WV for 26 years and was a member of Local Union #7604. Minnis enjoyed the outdoors, camping, and hunting, but his main priority was his church and family. In addition to his mother he is preceded in death by his grandparents Landy and Lessie Osborne Bostic, and Charlie Bostic who raised him from birth; his daughter Betsy Osborne Garvey (his Ten-Ten); a brother Vester Osborne; two sisters Letha Webb and Cindy Price. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 54 years Charlotte Lusk Osborne; two sons Dean and wife Eva, and Rex and wife Norma all of Cyclone; two daughters Bonnie and husband Jed, and Dolly Osborne all of Cyclone; nine grandchildren Brandi, Zac, Logan, Chelsie, Carli, Casey, Brooklyn Osborne, Cody Tolliver, and Brittany Miller and husband Adam all of Cyclone; two great grandchildren Dason Griffey and Adalynn Miller; two sisters Brookie Lusk, and Juanita Toler all of Cyclone; four brothers Willis and Wannis Daniels of Cyclone, Eugene Daniels of NC, and Braden Daniels of Greenville, WV; special brother-in-law James Lusk and his wife Beulah of Cyclone; special nephew Carlos Webb and his wife Joyce; and special niece Donna Toler and husband Ran all of Cyclone; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday May 15, 2014 at the Bright Prospect Missionary Baptist Church, Cyclone, WV, with Pastor Jackie Lusk officiating. Kermit E. Browning, 61, of Matheny, WV passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at his home. He was born April 4, 1953 in Pineville, WV a son of the late Kermit Rice and Zida Faye Spence Browning. Kermit worked at Gilbert Lumber for 28 years as a log loader and truck driver, for 14 years and for Georgia Pacific. Survivors include Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 38 years Havanna June Graham of Matheny; a son Timothy Rice Browning and companion Lisa Counts of Matheny; a grandson Timothy Eugene Browning of Matheny; two sisters Peggy (Glenn) Laxton, and Vicky Marie (Lee) Pack all of Matheny; two nieces Crystal Laxton, and Shannon Laxton all of Matheny; a special cousin Valurie Stewart of Matheny; special friends Mandie Haught, Rebecca Kirk, and Prisilla Stewart all of Matheny; and a host of loving family and friends. Funeral service will be held at11:00 AM on Sunday May 18, 2014 at the Matheny Church of God, Matheny, WV, with Rev. Tommy Perry, and Rev. Darrell Stapleton officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Browning cemetery, Jesse Mountain, WV. Friends may gather with the family 10:00 AM on Sunday May 18, 2014 until time of service at the church. David Keith May, 75, of Ceredo-Kenova, WV went to be with the Lord on Saturday May 17, 2014 at Emma Jean Dolin Jones Hospice House. He was born January 29, 1939 in Huntington, WV, a son of the late Russell and Gladys Riggs May of Huntington. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, a dear brother Arnold Russell May, Jr., his angel granddaughter Allison Ann May and a dear nephew “Eddie” Dyer. He was a US Air Force Veteran. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-three years Juanita Faye Thacker May; their five children Pamela May of Ceredo-Kenova, David Jr. and Helen May of New Haven, IN, Robert and Brenda May of Huntington, Russell and Jennifer May of Huntington and Thomas and Angela May of Huntington; nine grandchildren Keifer May, Joe May, Bobby May, Jared May, Edan May, Daniel May, Justin Hogsett, Zac May and Kaitlin May; seven brothers and sisters Don and Carolyn May of Ashland, KY, Daniel and Elaine May of Huntington, Sylvia and Bobby Fortner of Huntington, Grace and Gary Scarberry of Huntington, Florence May of Chesapeake, OH, William and Sandy May of Cannonsburg, KY and Darlene and Jim Dyer of Chesapeake, OH; a host of loving family and friends. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday May 20, 2014 at the Sunshine Freewill Baptist Church, Huntington, WV, with Rev. Jody Fortner and Rev. Willie May officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Kilgore cemetery, on German Ridge. Military graveside rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 93 in Kenova, WV. Friends may gather with the family from 1 – 3:00 PM on Tuesday until time of service at the church. The family would like to give thanks to the caregivers of in home hospice and the staff and members of the Hospice House. The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home, Oceana, WV.

Peggy Ann Toler, 73, of Glen Fork, WV, passed away on Friday May 16, 2014 in Bower’s Hospice House. She was born January 30, 1941, a daughter of the late Paris Herndon and Virginia Stewart. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Earl Edward Toler, Sr.; a son James Bruce Toler; eight sisters Arbadella Stewart, Lana Halstead, Katherine Dishmon, Juanita Toler, Bethel Davis, Mary Lou Hart, Wanda Grindstaff, and Arita Toler; and three brothers Paris Herndon Stewart, Jr. Rufus Stewart, and Robert Lee Stewart. Survivors include four sons Earl Edward Toler, Jr. of Glen Fork and his son Derek, Tracy DeWayne Toler of Sabine and is children Eva, Nicole, Bradley and Jessica, Mark Steven Toler of Claremont, NC and his children Steven and Ashli, and Calvert Richard (Melissa) Toler of Sophia and their children Megan and James; two brothers Calvert Clinton Stewart of Matheny, and James Frank Stewart of GA; two special friends Sherry Pennington, and Rosalee Wyatt; nine great grandchildren; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday May 19, 2014 in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV, with Jerry Graham officiating. Charles Leonard Birchfield, 65, of North Spring, WV went home to be with the Lord on Saturday May 17, 2014 at Bowers Hospice House, Beckley, WV, following a long illness. Charles was born July 8, 1948 in Bull Creek, WV, a son of Ethel Allen Birchfield and the late Everett Birchfield. Charles loved attending his church Gilbert Church of God. He also enjoyed fishing, riding motorcycles and spending time with his family. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 14 years Patty Birchfield; a son Charles “Chuck” (Tabby) Birchfield, Jr. of Selah, WA; a daughter Shawna Sexton of Princeton; his mother Ethel Allen Birchfield of Mohawk; two brothers Steve (Freda) Birchfield of Bull Creek and Tommy (Becky) Birchfield of NC; a sister Carol Jones of NC; five grandchildren Jordan and McKensie Birchfield and Erica, Savannah and Terrence Sexton; a special cousin Andrew Birchfield of Bull Creek; a very loved dog Lucy; and a host of other loving family and friends. church on Wednesday May 21, 2014. Elizabeth Imogene Short Daniels, 63, of Matheny, WV passed away on Monday May 19, 2014 at Kopperston, WV. She was born March 15, 1951 a daughter of the late Verlin and Flora Belle Foster Short. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Freddie Franklin Daniels; a sister Verlean Bradford; two nieces Debbie Foder and Sherry Lawson; a sister-in-law Imogene Short; and the father of her children Harry D. Cook. Survivors include a daughter Holly Cook and fiancé Adrian B. Collins of Charlotte, NC; two sons Darrell Cook of Crany, and Jeff Cook of Crany; a sister Janet Hope Spears of Matheny; two brothers Larry Short and wife Dixie of Pineville, and Burns “Bobie” Short of Brenton; two grandchildren Aiden and Noah Collins; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday May 23, 2014 in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV, with Bro. Mike Stewart officiating. She will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV. Friends may gather with the family after 11:00 AM on Friday May 23, 2014 at the funeral home. Reddie Bell Tolliver, 87, of Glen Rogers, WV passed away on Wednesday May 21, 2014 at her home. She was born April 21, 1927 in Bolt, WV, a daughter of the late Chris and Icie Wesley Snuffer. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 51 years Tressie William Tolliver. Survivors include two daughters Thresia Ann Fleeman and husband Norman of Glen Fork, and Velva Mae Tolliver of Glen Rogers; a sister Ova Jean Overstreet of Apopka, FL; a brother Sebert James Snuffer of Glen Rogers; a granddaughter Shelia Marie Bailey and husband Mike of Glen Fork; two great grandchildren Ryan Bailey and Brianna Bailey all of Glen Fork; and a host of other loving family and friends. Graveside services will be held at Noon Saturday May 24, 2014 at the Pine Grove cemetery, Ravencliff, WV, with Rev. Earnest Francis officiating.
