Charlie Eugene Acord, 85, of Glen Fork, WV passed on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 in Raleigh General Hospital after a short illness. He was born December 15, 1930 in Glen Fork, WV, a son of the late Walter and Thelma Adkins Acord. He was a faithful Christian, having served as a deacon and taught Sunday School for over 20 years. He was a retired Senior Master Sgt. with 30 years in the US Air Force and he retired from Harris Mine after 13 years. In addition to his parents three brothers preceded him in death Robert Harold, David Earl and Roger C. Acord. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Gwendolyn Sue Acord; two step sons Brandon Baldwin and (fiancé` Kelly Thorton) of Jesse and Michael (Tammie) Tolliver of Biloxi, MS; a sister Mable "Pat" Lambert and her son Chip Lambert of Glen Fork; a brother Dale (Mary) Acord of Glen Fork; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday April 9, 2016 at Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco with Rev. Michael Tolliver officiating. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV. Visitation will be from noon until service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers make donations to the Humane Society. The family is being served by Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV.

Pauline Turpin, 84, of Trace Fork, WV went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and her loving husband James Allan Turpin, Jr. of 67 years on April 6, 2016. She was born on March 17, 1932 in McDowell County a daughter of the late Hobert and Virginia Kenny. Pauline was a member of the Briar Creek Tabernacle. In addition to her parents and husband she is preceded in death by a daughter Francis Cornwell; a son-in-law Giles Cornwell; a sister Margaret Hosko; three grandchildren Tonya Turpin, Lisa Turpin and Ronald Hatfield, Jr.; and two great grandchildren Drema Walls and Jacob Fritz. Those left to cherish her memory are a son James E. (Drema) Turpin; three daughters Diana (Philip) Ritchie, Jacquetta (Kent) Vance and Rebecca (Ronald) Hatfield; a sister Willie Letner; grandchildren Kenny Vance, Amy (Chad) Sizemore, Ronnie Hatfield, Stephanie (Zach) Vance, Carol Dwyer, Allan (Nikki) Cornwell, Polly Turpin, Edward Turpin and Michael Turpin; great grandchildren Halen Sizemore, Caroline Sizemore, Brian Vance, Kailee Vance, Zoie Vance, Eli Vance, Ethan Vance, Courtney Dwyer, Zack Dwyer, Casey Dwyer, Emily Dwyer, Lea Kennedy, Katie Walls and Emily Fritz; a great great grandchild Kinze Reynolds; two expected grandsons; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1PM on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at the Briar Creek Tabernacle with Rev. Earnest Francis officiating. She will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV. Friends may gather with the family from 6-9PM on Monday, April 11, 2016 at the church. Pallbearers will be Zach Vance, Chad Sizemore, Jimmy Turpin, Kenny Vance, Alan Cornwell and Brian Vance. Virginia Belle Tilley, 90, of Mullens, WV passed away Friday, April 8, 2016 at her home. Where she was lovingly cared for by her grandson Alan Neely. Born June 18, 1925 in Jumping Branch, WV, a daughter of the late Glen and Edna Cole Cochran. Virginia was a homemaker, owner of Virginia's Fabric and was a member of Corinne First Church of God. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Calvin Graham Tilley; a sister Glenna Lemons and husband Connie; a brother Buel "Boone" Cochran and Wife Beulah "Boots"; great granddaughters Carson Elizabeth Patton and Mackenzie Erin Cardwell; and a daughter-in-law JoAnn Tilley Menefee. Virginia loved spending time with her family, talking on the phone, working in her flower garden, crafts, painting, playing playdoh and coloring with her grandchildren. Those left to cherish her memory are sons Robert "Bob" (Kathy) Tilley of Daniels, Terry (Tracy) Tilley; a daughter Tammy (Reece) Neely all of Mullens; granddaughters Christy (Raymond) Cardwell, Lauren (Brad) Kyer, Mary (Robbie) Patton, Amy (Ofer) Kooba, Leslie (Jarrod) Brewer and Augusta (Eric) Blanchard; grandsons Robert Jeremy (Allonna) Tilley, Derek (Becky) Brumfield, Alan Neely and Greg (Carrie) Neely; great grandchildren Jordan, Kelsey, Aidan and Addison Cardwell, Justin, Evan and Madelynn Kyer, Ethan, Tanner and Cameron Tilley, Levi Brumfield, Morgan and Grant Patton, Dylan Kooba, Colton, Olivia and Ryder Neely, Trevor Smith and Mykelle Wyatt; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; special daughter Tresa McGraw; beloved cousin Anna Stanley; special longtime friends Louise Thomas, Evelyn Williamson, Becky Fulford, Barbara Cook, Louella Wrenn, Edith Sturgeon and friends in Christ, her church family. Funeral services will be held at 1PM on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at the Corinne First Church of God. She will be laid to rest in Cochran cemetery, Mt. View Rd, Jumping Branch, WV. Virgie Jean Wyatt, 78, of Brenton, WV passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at her home. She was born on November 12, 1937 in Bartley, WV a daughter of the late Cecil and Corba England Steele. Virgie is a member of Brenton Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by two brothers Luther Steele and Everette Steele; and two sisters Lola Lester and Shirley Roberts. Survivors include her loving husband of 58 years Carl B. Wyatt; a son Stevie Carl (Paula) Wyatt of Rockwell, NC; two daughters Sandra Marlene West and Karen Denise (Eugene) Johnston all of Brenton; two brothers Clarence (Brenda) Steele of Statesville, NC, and Donald (Gladys) Steele of OH; a brother-in-law George Lester of Steels; four grandchildren Amanda Fischer, Danielle Scarlett, Stephanie Wyatt and Alyssa Boring; six great grandchildren; Emma and Wyatt Boring, Carleigh Suttles, Bentley and Brantley Fischer, and Ian Fischer due in June 2016; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1PM on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV with Rev. Lee Fisher and Rev. Tommy Knotts officiating. Albert James Lusk, 66, of Matheny, WV passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at his home after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. He was born March 15, 1950 in Mullens, WV, a son of the late Robert and Mary Belle Mullens Lusk. He was a member of the UMWA. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four sisters Pearl Steele, Gladys Morgan, Arbutus Mullins and Opal Warren and a brother Coy Lusk. Albert will always be cherished in the hearts of his loving wife and forever soul mate of 43 years Linda Biggs Lusk of Matheny; his two sons Hayden Lusk and Robert Lusk; his two daughters Angela Lusk and Milissa Henery; grandchildren Austin and Noah Fields, Dakota, Hunter, Logan and Samantha Lusk, Brooke Toler and Brayden Henery and many beautiful great grandchildren; a sister Betty Smith and four brothers Boyd, Dale, Robert and Ralph Lusk; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday April 14, 2016 in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home with Bro. Timmy Brown officiating. Johnny Mack Toler, 69, of Charlotte, NC passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at CMC Carolina Medical, Concord, NC. He was born on February 14, 1947 in Cyclone, WV a son of the late Homer G. "Jud" and Margaret McComas Toler. John was a United States Army Veteran who served during the Vietnam era. He then worked for many years for McJunkin Corporation in both Charleston and Marietta, OH. John retired and worked in construction so he would not be bored. He had two favorite things to do fish and watch football. He moved to Charlotte, NC when his first grandchild was born and loved being called papaw John by all five of his grandkids Madison Ann, Mason James, Tatum Jolee, Carly Rae and Faith Marie. John was a 1964 graduate of Oceana High School, attended Beckley College and a member of Lacoma Baptist Church. He is survived by three sons James P. (Missy) Toler of Charlotte, NC, John C. (Lynette) Toler of Charleston, SC and Matthew A. (Shawnacy) Toler of Lancaster, OH; a daughter Amanda J. Toler of Ashland, KY; a brother Homer G. (Becky) Toler of South Charleston; three sisters Connie Long of St. Albans, Margie J. Toler of Sutton and Dolly J. Toler; a host of nieces, nephews and family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 PM on Sunday, April 17, 2016 at the Lacoma Baptist Church, Cyclone, WV with Rev. Jerry Cook officiating. He will be laid to rest in Toler cemetery, Cyclone, WV. Friends may gather with the family from 11:30 AM until time of service on Sunday, April 17, 2016 at the church. The family is being served by Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV.

Charles Raymond "Charlie" Blessard, 69, of Fairmont, WV formerly of Oceana, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2016 at his home. He was born on October 25, 1946 in Welch, WV, a son of the late Bob and Edna Speaks. Charlie proudly served his country during the Vietnam War as a chaplain’s assistant and a helicopter gunner. He was a member of Wyoming-McDowell DAV Chapter 56, VFW and the Wyoming County Veterans Honor Guard. He worked as a coal miner and owned a Barber shop serving the Oceana community for nearly 30 years. He had a love for most any sport and enjoyed playing softball in his younger days. In his later years he enjoyed traveling the country with his wife Nancy and seeing the sites. He was survived by his spouse Nancy Ramsey-Blessard; two daughters Shae (Fred) Morales, and Martha "Marty" (Shawn) Beverly; son Charles Robert "Bobby" Blessard; step-children Charlie (spouse Valerie), Shane and Cindy Davis; Eleven grandchildren, Kara, Jessica, Tiffany, Brittney, Nikki, Lezlie, Shane, Whitney, Austin, Lydia and Ryan; five great-grandchildren; two sisters Pamela Brogan and Karen Speaks. Funeral service will be held at 7:00PM on Monday April 18, 2016 in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home with Rev. Lewis Lester officiating. Burial will follow in Grafton National Veterans cemetery, Grafton, WV. The Wyoming County Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military rites. Friends may call from 5 - 9:00PM on Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the funeral home. The family is being served by Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV.

On Sunday morning, April 17, 2016, Elmer Goodman, 66, departed this life at Raleigh General Hospital. Born on September 22, 1949, he was the son of the late Mike and Elsie Goodman. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his 16 year old baby girl Megan; brothers James, Ralph and Benny; and mother-in-law Babe Toler. A retired coal miner and barber, Elmer had served on the Oceana City Council and served his country in Vietnam. With a great fondness of gardening and fishing; and making new friends when he sold apples, Elmer enjoyed watching the WV Mountaineer games. Left to cherish 27 years of everlasting and precious memories shared with Elmer is his loving wife Rita Toler Goodman, who was his constant and devoted companion. Also survived by daughter Ashley Shannon Goodman and grandchildren Harlow Osborne and Ledger Bailey; three biological children Larry Goodman, Michael and Altar Sheppard; brother Johnny (wife Rita); two sisters Mary Bishop Acord (Husband Bob) and Betsy Bailey; father-in-law Ray Toler; two brothers-in-law Rayvon Toler (Wife Betty) and Stacy Toler; several nephews and nieces; his little buddy Cameron Morgan; and so many friends made over the years. Per Elmer's wishes there will be no visitation. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV. The Wyoming County Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military rites. The family is being served by Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV.

Haford Hurley, 58, of Jumping Branch, WV passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2016 at his home. He was born on March 28, 1958 in Pike County, KY a son of Gertrude Justice of Brenton and the late Buford Hurley. In addition to his father he is preceded in death by a granddaughter Danielle Hurley; a sister Betty Correll; two brothers Dale and Hassell Hurley; a nephew Mickey Hurley; and a brother-in-law Maxwell Correll. Survivors include his wife of three years Marisa Cline Hurley; two sons Roger Hurley and Dusty (Melissa) Hurley all of Jumping Branch; a daughter Destiny Mitchell of Lenore, NC; five brothers Timmy Hurley, Jimmy Hurley, Harrison Hurley, Thomas Hurley and Max Hurley all of Brenton; seven grandchildren; and a host of other loving family and friends. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at the Lester cemetery, Indian Creek, WV. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Debbie Jean Brown Keck, 56, of Oceana, WV, passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Bowers Hospice House. She was born on September 22, 1959 in Welch, WV, the daughter of the late Ronnie Lee and Lola Claire Lusk Brown. She was a member of the Christian Fellowship Center in Pineville and a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of sixteen years Robert Keck; two sons Jimmie "Tig" Daniels and wife Michelle of Harrisville and Richard Daniels and wife Melisha of Glen Fork; two step daughters Shannon Keck of Gillman Bottom and Shawnna Gollihue and husband Pete of Davin; a step son Eric Mullins and wife Amy of Mallory; two brothers Darrell Brown and Jimmy Brown; a granddaughter Kylie Daniels; seven step grandchildren Lauren and Jessica Turner, Mattae, Tyler and Haley Keck, Shawn Mullins and Jeremiah Gollihue; several special children in her life; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV with Pastor Bill Goode officiating. Hazel Hawks, 84, of Pineville, WV went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 27, 2016. She was born on October 3, 1931 in Brenton, WV a daughter of the late Curtis Henry and Bertie Vay "Babe" Dameron Hawks. Hazel was a member of the Pineville Church of God. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a great niece Kayla Nicole Hawks. Hazel never met a stranger and loved everyone. Survivors include a sister Phyllis (Neil) Blankenship of Pineville with whom she made her home; a brother Harold (Nancy) Hawks of Brenton; nieces and nephews Larry (Kim) Blankenship, Belinda (Tim) Stewart, Christopher "Chris" Blankenship, Dean Hawks, Michael Hawks, Kevin Hawks and Chris Hawks; great nieces Megan Stewart (Cody) Crosby, Anna Paige Stewart and Devan Blankenship; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 30, 2016 in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV with Pastor Timmy Brewster and Kay Fields officiating.
