Mavis Guin age 83 of Guin, Alabama died Sunday, February 29, 2004 in the Ridgewood Health Care in Jasper, Alabama.

Born in Guin, Alabama. She is the Daughter of the late Ellis and Lydia Johnson Guin. She had lived in Guin all of her life and was a member of the Guin Church Of Christ.

She is survived by Three Nieces, Robbie Anderson of Birmingham, AL, Carolyn (Terry) Kerr of Hamilton, AL and Sue (Philip) Garrison of Guin, AL. Several Great Nieces and Nephews.

She was preceded in death by a Sister, Mamie Spann, a Brother, Hilton Guin and a Great Nephew, Dack Garrison.

Funeral Services held Tuesday, March 2, 2004 at 2:00 pm from the Norwood Funeral Home Chapel with Burial in the Guin City Cemetery. Bill Rayburn officiating.

Ida Ray Lay

Ida Ray Lay age 94 of Sulligent, Alabama died Friday, February 27, 2004 in the Beverly Health Care Center in Winfield, Alabama.

Born in Sulligent, Alabama. She is the Daughter of the late Felix and Leona Hester Merchant and the Wife of the late Fred Lay. She had lived in Sulligent the past 20 years and was a member of the Gattman Methodist Church.

She is survived by A Sister, Josie Henke of Smithville, MS, A Sister In Law, Annie Pearl Lay of Winfield, AL and Several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral Services held Sunday, February 29, 2004 2:00 PM from the Norwood Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Blair Cemetery. Bro. Edward Puckett and Bro. Darrell Sanderson officiating.

Vester Taylor

Vester Taylor age 96 of Guin, Alabama died Monday, February 23, 2004 in the Beverly Health Care Center in Winfield, Alabama.

Born in Fayette County, Alabama. He is the Son of the late Henry Walter and Susie Ann Berryhill Taylor and the Husband of the late Susie Flora Atkinson Taylor, mother of the children, and Husband of the late Eula Burnice Fowler Taylor. He had lived in the Mt. Willing Community most of his life and was a member of the Siloam Baptist Church.

He is survived by Two Daughters, Doris Robertson of Beaverton, AL and Imogene (Bruce) Eskew of Hot Springs, AR, A Son, Burgess L. "Joe" (Pat) Taylor of Guin, AL, 7 Grandchildren, Carolyn (Randy) Cook, Douglas Taylor, Lawanda (Roger) Cagle, Brett (Tena) Taylor, Michele (Tim) Taggart, Mark (Jenitta) Eskew and Patrick Eskew, 6 Great Grandchildren, Jeff (Ashley) Cook, Ryan Cagle, Erica (Jonathon)McKinney, Taylor Taggart, Carly Taylor and Cole Eskew, Two Brothers, B.A. Taylor and R.C. Taylor both of Winfield, AL and A Daughter-In-Law, Mary Jo Tayor of Lexington, SC.

He was also preceded in death by A Son, Ivy Paul Taylor, A Sister, Louvada Markham, and Two Brothers, L.A. Taylor and Basol Taylor.

Services held Thursday, February 26, 2004 2:00 PM from the Siloam Baptist Church with burial in the adjoining cemetery. Bro. Delbert Preuninger and Bro. James Wilson officiating.

Paul D. Markham

Paul D. Markham age 48 of Detroit, Alabama died Thursday, June 3, 2004 in the Baptist Medical Center - Princeton in Birmingham.

Born in Sulligent, Alabama. He is the Son of Pauline Danner Markham and the late Kermit Paul Markham. He had lived in Detroit most of his life, was a member of the Detroit Baptist Church, attended Bevill State and graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, and had retired from UPS.

He is survived by his Mother, Pauline Danner Markham, A Sister, Phyllis Markham, both of Detroit, AL, Three Brothers, Brooks (Rhonda) Markham of McCalla, AL, Rex (Carolyn) Markham of Toney, AL and Tim Markham of Detroit, AL, A Niece, Allison Markham and A Nephew, Nicholas Markham.

He was also preceded in death by a Brother, Stephen Reed Markham.

Funeral Services held Saturday, June 5, 2004 2:00 PM from the Detroit Baptist Church with burial in the Carter Cemetery. Bro. Danny Stanford, Bro. Billy Abrams and Bro. Eddie Davidson officiating.
