Alabama, U.S., County Marriage Records, 1805-1967 - 1814-1935

Mary A. Salter

EVERGREEN - Mary Alice Salter, a resident of Evergreen, died Thursday at a hospital in Evergreen. She was 58.

Survivors include her husband, William Salter; her mother, Alice Salter; a daughter, Deborah Ealum; and a son, Ricky Salter, all of Evergreen; four sisters, Sue Hawsey and Ethel Wiggins, both of Evergreen, Dorothy Salter of Biloxi, Miss., and Margie Urquhart of Monroeville, Ala.; and two grandchildren.

Services are set for 2 p.m. today at Cope Funeral Home in Evergreen, with burial in Lone Star Cemetery.

Hettie Boswell

DUBLIN, Va. - Hettie Ann Mabel Boswell, who had worked as a nurse for many years at several hospitals in the Mobile area and as a private-duty nurse, died Wednesday.

Mrs. Boswell, 88, a native of Millry, Ala., was a resident of Dublin.

Survivors include a daughter, Ann Bolt of Dublin; a son, William Boswell of Huntsville; a sister, Clara M. Donelly of Mobile; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Services are set for 11 a.m. today at Barnwell Baptist Church in Barnwell, Ala., with burial in Pine Rest Memorial Park in Foley. Pine Rest Funeral Home of Foley is handling arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Barnwell Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 918, Point Clear, AL 36564.

Charles M. Grimes

SEASIDE, Calif. - Charles Marion Grimes, 79, a native of Mobile who played on Spring Hill College's 1939 football team, died of congestive heart failure Monday.

Grimes graduated from Murphy High School in 1937 and attended Spring Hill and the University of Detroit before enlisting in the Army, from which he retired after about 30 years of service.

He served in Germany during World War II and in Vietnam during the Vietnam War.

Survivors include his wife Chris Grimes of Seaside; two sons, Charles and Mark Grimes; and numerous cousins.

Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday in Seaside.

Josephine A. Brown

Josephine Angelo Brown, a Pensacola, Fla., native and longtime Mobile resident, died Friday at a local hospital. She was 79.

Mrs. Brown was a member of Little Flower Catholic Church, the ACCW Dothan Deanery, the Women's Auxiliary of VFW Post 49 and a mystic society.

She is survived by three daughters, Vicki Reeves, Georgia B. Gartman and Mary Jo Wilder, all of Mobile; one brother, Harry Gordon Angelo-Grellia, and one sister, Cora Louise Angelo Lee, both of Pensacola; and nine grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. Monday until services begin at 1 p.m. at Little Flower Catholic Church in Mobile. Burial will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Little Flower Catholic Church.

Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street is handling the arrangements.

Ruby Pugh Jones

CHUNCHULA - Ruby Pugh Jones, a Chunchula resident, died Thursday in a local hospital. She was 68.

She is survived by her husband, Marshall E. Jones of Chunchula; her daughter, Jennifer J. Rockwell of Mobile; three sisters, Elvia Pugh of Pensacola, Fla., Erma Wyrosdic of Mobile and Virgie Mae Ackridge of Lillian; and a grandson.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. this evening at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland and at 1 p.m. Monday at Kushla Baptist Church. Services will begin at 2 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.

Archie W. Koblas

Archie W. Koblas, a Lesterville, S.D., native and longtime Mobile resident, died Saturday in a local hospital. He was 89.

Koblas was a retired electrical engineer from Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. and was a veteran of World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Irene Koblas of Mobile; one son, James Koblas of Mobile, six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the services at 11 a.m. at St. Mark United Methodist Church in Mobile. Burial will in Mobile Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to St. Mark United Methodist Church.

Wanda E. Stoops

Wanda E. Stoops, a Kennett, Mo., native and longtime Chickasaw resident, died Saturday at a local health care facility. She was 64.

Mrs. Stoops was a homemaker and a member of Saraland Kingdom Hall.

She is survived by her husband, David L. Stoops; two sons, David I. Stoops and John D. Stoops; one daughter, Betsy Jackson; two brothers, Billy Wridings and A.I. Wridings; three sisters, Kathleen Bairefield, Margie McLaughlin and Kay S. Wridings; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services will be announced at a later date. Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street is handling arrangements.
