Mrs. Melva "Brodie" P. Frazier:
A native of Mobile, AL and a resident of Daphne, AL died on Saturday, November 27, 1999. She retired from Shaw H.S. She is survived by husband, Lee Frazier, Jr.; father, Melvin Packer; sisters, Ranetta Wilson and Melita Anderson; five step-children, cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 1, 1999 at 10AM from Shrine of the Holy Cross Catholic Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the church. Interment will be in Whispering Pines Cemetery. Arrangements by PINE CREST FUNERAL HOME, 1939 Dauphin Island Parkway, Mobile, AL 36605. (334) 478-5227.

Glover Ludgood:
Age 77, a resident of Mobile, AL passed this life Friday, November 26, 1999 at his residence. A life of living and toiling, through faith and prayer, prepared him for this great celebration. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Rebecca Bush Ludgood, parents, Hayward Ludgood and Willie Mae Ludgood, two brothers, Mack and Hayward, Jr.; one sister, Ivory L. White. He leaves to cherish his memories, a loving and very devoted daughter, Margie Ludgood Lee; a devoted son-in-law, Dr. Joe A. Lee, and the love of his life, a grandson, Joseph M. Lee and his wife, Luanda Woods-Lee. He also leaves to mourn, three devoted sisters, Queen Burrell, Teresa Partee, Willie Mae Adams; sisters-in-law, Katie (Pearl) Lockett and Myrtle Bush, two devoted sisters-in-law, Marsetta Plummer and Bernice (Jake) Ludgood; two devoted nieces, Linda W. Jones and Daisy W. Spraglin; a devoted nephew, Charles Ludgood, a devoted neighbor, Eileen Hose, a host of other devoted nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, December 1, 1999 at the Apostolic Faith Church, 969 Weinacker Ave. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Albert Golston officiating. Interment will follow at the Pine Crest Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are by JOHNSON-ALLEN MORTUARY, 600 Chestnut St., Mobile, AL.

Mr. James Vincent McNamara, Sr.:
A native of Jersey City, NJ and a resident of Mobile, AL since 1939, died Sunday, November 28, 1999 in a local health care facility. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Janice McNamara; one son, James V. McNamara, Jr., Mobile; two daughters, Teecie Kynes Cozad, Little Falls, NJ, and Jane English, Mobile; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Johnson and Veronica Tillman, both of Mobile; one great grandchild, Alexandria Tillman. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 2, 1999 at 10:00 a.m. from the chapel of Pine Crest Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the ALS Foundation. Mrs. Christine Moorer-Malone:
Was born August 5, 1940 to Mr. Leroy Gradford and the late Mrs. Bessie Reed, departed this life at her home on Saturday, November 27, 1999. She will be sadly missed by her children, Jessie (Katherine) Moorer, Sharon Jackson, Edward (Cheryl) Moorer, Carl (Princess) Moorer; a brother, sisters, aunts, uncles, and other family members and friends. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 1, 1999 from the El Bethel Primitive Baptist Church, 1200 Gayle St, Mobile, AL from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral hour with the Rev. Jonathan Yates officiating. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery. Sympathetic and professional services are by MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 1302 Viaduct Street, Prichard, AL.

Mrs. Ora C. Negus:
Funeral services were held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home, Dauphin St., on Monday, November 29, 1999 at 11:00 A.M. Officiated by Rev. Bill Whitfield and Rev. John Mathieu. Pallbearers were Jon Largue, Harry Rischer, Scott Baker, Bill Sibley, Burke Baker, and Michael Miller. Interment was in Pine Crest Cemetery West, Snow Rd. Funeral arrangements are by RADNEY FUNERAL HOME, 3155 Dauphin Street, Mobile, AL.

Mrs. Velma Lyle Orange:
Passed Saturday, November 27, 1999 at a local hospital. She was a native of Meridian, MS and resident of Chatom, AL since 1930. She leaves to cherish her memories, a loving and devoted family, one daughter, Mrs. Iola (David) McMillan Sr.; son, Mr. Sylvester Orange, Chatom, AL; granddaughter, Ms. Velma Maharaj, Mobile, AL; grandson, Mr. David McMillan, Jr., Chatom, AL; three great grandsons, Michael, Richard and Withroe of Mobile, AL; 12 great great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Clara Smith, Chatom, AL and Mrs. Dora Thomas, Cincinnati, OH; one brother, Mr. Elridge (Ruby) Jones, Montgomery, AL; several devoted friends and other relatives. Visitation will be held at Hodges Funeral Chapel, Tuesday, November 30, 1999 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and at Lily Grove Baptist Church, Chatom, AL on Wednesday, December 1, 1999 at from 11 a.m. until the 2 p.m. funeral hour with Rev. J.E. McCarty, Pastor and officiant. Interment will be held in Hillcrest Cemetery, Chatom, AL. Funeral arrangements are by HODGES FUNERAL HOME, 701 Dr. M. L. King Ave, Mobile, AL

Mrs. Rubye Norman Philpot:
105, died in Spanish Fort, AL retirement community on Thursday, November 25, 1999. She is survived by one son, James D. Philpot, and wife Caroline, Mobile, AL; one sister, Mrs. D. E. Willingham, Clarksville, Ind., five grandchildren, Adelia (Charles) Pittinger, Cincinnati, OH, Emily (Barnett) McAnally, Houston, TX, David (Elizabeth) Philpot, Birmingham, AL, Anne Beasley, Pace, FL, Claire (Mark) Dryden, Heflin, AL and ten great grandchildren. Mrs. Philpot was born in Fulton, KY to a family who were early settlers of Western Kentucky/Tennessee. She was educated in Fulton Public Schools and received a teachers certificate from what is now Murray State University. After teaching several years in a one room school on her father's farm, she married the late Daniel Elwin Philpot and moved to Jackson, TN where she lived for many years. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Jackson and a charter member of the Evelyn Hurt Sunday School Class. Graveside services will be held in Fulton, KY at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 1, 1999 at Greenlea Cemetery, Dr. Jack Acree officiating. Funeral arrangements are by HORNBEAK FUNERAL CHAPEL, Fulton, KY.
