ATHENS - Funeral for Arnold "Piggie" Lauderdale, 64, of Athens will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Dusty McLemore and the Rev. Dee Lauderdale officiating. Burial will be in Dement Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Lauderdale died Saturday, March 31, 2001, at home. He was born Aug. 14, 1936, in Limestone County. He was a brick mason for 40 years and a member of Lindsay Lane Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Faye Lauderdale; one son, Dewayne Lauderdale of Falkville; two daughters, Demetria Joines of Elkmont and Sandra Bryant of Ardmore; four stepdaughters, Judy Wells of Florida, Rita Thomas of Arkansas, and Penny Tucker and Tracy Daniel, both of Athens; four brothers, Homer Lauderdale and Donald Lauderdale, both of Athens, Robert Lauderdale of Elkmont and Howard Lauderdale of Florence; three sisters, Robbie Gozia of Athens, Ruth Webb of Elkmont and Ruby Doring of Springfield; eight grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one step-great-grandchild. Pallbearers will be David Lauderdale, Stanley Lauderdale, Virgil McBay, Danny Webb, Marty McBay, Larry Lauderdale, Steve Lauderdale and Dale Lauderdale.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Limestone County.

Tracy Leigh Letson
33, homemaker

Funeral for Tracy Leigh Letson, 33, of Hartselle will be Monday at noon at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Waymon Fike officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Letson died Saturday, March 31, 2001, at home. She was born Oct. 2, 1967, in Morgan County. She attended Austin High School. She was a homemaker and a member of Decatur Christian Church. Survivors include her husband, Randy Letson; two sons, Kaleb Letson and Blake Oliver, both of Decatur; her parents, Howard Walden and Wanda Burleson Walden of Decatur; and two sisters, Elesia Netherton of Decatur and Jennifer Good of Fayetteville, Tenn.

Pallbearers will be Howard Letson, Edward Hamm, Charles Stafford, Greg Hamm, Doug Letson and Billy Cox.

George Kyle Moats
98, retired farmer

MOULTON - Funeral for George Kyle Moats, 98, of Moulton will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Jones Chapel Congregational Christian Church with Toney Pepper and Robert Sanderson officiating.

Burial will be in Jones Chapel Cemetery with Elliott Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home. The body will be at the church one hour before the service, when Masonic rites will be performed.

Mr. Moats died Saturday, March 31, 2001, at Lawrence Baptist Medical Center. He was born March 14, 1903, in Lawrence County. He was a retired farmer and a member of Masonic Lodge No. 6 and Jones Chapel Congregational Christian Church.

Survivors include three sons, Benjamin Moats and Oneal Moats, both of Moulton, and J.P. Moats of Paw Paw, Mich.; two daughters, Ocille Thrasher and Odean Berryman, both of Moulton; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Annie Lou Nalley
83, private duty nurse

ATHENS - Funeral for Annie Lou Nalley, 83, of Athens will be today at 2 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with Phillip Babcock officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Pisgah Cemetery.

Mrs. Nalley died Friday, March 30, 2001, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born Sept. 24, 1917, in Limestone County. She was a private duty nurse and a member of Copeland Presbyterian Church. She was the widow of Cleveland Nalley and the mother of the late Brenda Faye Barnes.

Survivors include four daughters, Martha Morris, Clevie Nalley and Linda Isbell, all of Athens, and Estelle Krebs of Huntsville; three sisters, Reba Vaughn of Ethelville, Eunice Bass of Fayetteville, N.C., and Evelyn Delgado of Gary, Ind.; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Grandsons will be pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Limestone County or Copeland Presbyterian Church.

Linda Scott Schwan
52, homemaker, volunteer

Memorial service for Linda Scott Schwan, 52, of Decatur will be Tuesday night at 7 at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Don Wright and the Rev. Sherry Harris officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery with Roselawn Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church.

Mrs. Schwan died Saturday, March 31, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born Jan. 22, 1949, in Selma. A homemaker, she was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church and North Alabama Emmaus Community and a former board member of Tennessee Valley Outreach.

Survivors include her husband, Mark Schwan; two daughters, Laura Hopkins Farmer of Madison and Amy Hopkins McVay of Daphne; her parents, Allan and Laura Scott of Ocala, Fla.; two brothers, Larry Scott and Julian Scott, both of Griffin, Ga.; one sister, Cathy Scott Parker of Knoxville; and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Tennessee Valley Outreach.

Lillie Mae Terrell
86, homemaker

ARAB - Funeral for Lillie Mae Terrell, 86, of Albertville, formerly of Morgan City, will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Arab Memorial Chapel with Herbert Childers officiating.

Burial will be in Rescue Cemetery in Morgan City. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Terrell died Saturday, March 31, 2001, at Marshall Medical Center North in Guntersville. She was born Nov. 12, 1914, in Morgan County to George Brown and Suzie Barnes Brown. She was a homemaker. She was the widow of Buster Terrell and the mother of the late Tom Terrell and Mable King.

Survivors include three sons, Terry Terrell of Guntersville, Perry Terrell of Florida and Robert Terrell of Indiana; eight daughters, Barbara Walls of Albertville, Hazel Shavers of Arab, Betty Reliford and Audrey Tapscott, both of Scant City, Zelma Brooks of Union Hill, Frances Deflippo of Mobile, Paulette Willis of Tennessee and Sue Fellows of Florida; 57 grandchildren; 115 great-grandchildren; and 55 great-great-grandchildren.

Margaret Aycock
Graveside funeral for Margaret Aycock, 93, of Decatur will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham with the Rev. Brad Walker officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Aycock died Sunday, April 1, 2001, at her home.

She was born Oct. 24, 1907, in Birmingham to John C. O'Dell and Ella Roberts O'Dell. A resident of Decatur since 1991, she was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She was the widow of W.F. "Red" Aycock.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Malcolm Prewitt Jr. of Decatur.

Pallbearers will be Dr. Lloyd Nix, Gordon Christiansen, Allen Hamilton and Bob Harris.

Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Decatur, 701 Oak St. N.E., Decatur, AL 35601.

Lyndal 'Red' Davis
65, retired mechanic and gunsmith

ATHENS -- Graveside services for Lyndal "Red" Davis, 65, of Prospect, Tenn., was to be today at 3 p.m. at Myers Cemetery with Gloria Watts officiating and Spry Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Davis died Saturday, March 31, 2001, at his home.

He was born Aug. 31, 1935, in Limestone County. He was a retired mechanic and gunsmith. He was the brother of Grace Daniel.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel Davis; two sons, Jeff Davis of Falkville and James Davis of Prospect, Tenn.; two daughters, Melanie White of Falkville and Terry Levasseur of Madison; one stepson, Brent James of Linden; 18 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were to be Dale Blakely, Joshua Garner, Bobby Newman, Ryan Cook, Tige Davis and Hugh Lynn Daniel.

Sarah Virginia Johns
85, homemaker

ATHENS -- Funeral for Sarah Virginia Johns, 85, of Athens was to be today at 1 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with Rodney Britton, Lowell Blankenship, Bobby Robinson and Carl Witty officiating. Burial was to be in Bottom Cemetery.

Mrs. Johns died Sunday, April 1, 2001, at her home. She was born May 7, 1915, in Tennessee. She was a homemaker and a member of Sardis Springs Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, James Johns; one son, Charles Johns of Athens; one daughter, Margaret Schrimsher of Athens; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Grandsons will be pallbearers.

Annie Malinda Lanier
91, homemaker

Funeral for Annie Malinda Lanier, 91, of Monteagle, Tenn., formerly of Decatur, will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Wiley Kitchens officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Lanier died Saturday, March 31, 2001, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Monteagle. She was born July 5, 1909, in Morgan County to John W. Holliday and Theodocia Lively Holliday. She was the widow of Sidney Allen Lanier and the mother of James Allen "Pete" Lanier.

Survivors include one grandson, Grant Lanier of Madison.

Nephews will be pallbearers.

George Kyle Moats
98, retired farmer

MOULTON -- Funeral for George Kyle Moats, 98, of Moulton was to be today at 2 p.m. at Jones Chapel Congregational Christian Church with Toney Pepper and Robert Sanderson officiating.

William Arthur Root

ATHENS -- William Arthur Root, 76, of Athens died Saturday, March 31, 2001, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. McConnell Funeral Home will announce arrangements for a memorial service in Michigan.

Mr. Root was born March 16, 1925, in Otisville, Mich., to Merritt Root and Leila Grant Root. He was a resident of Limestone County for the past 10 months. He was a World War II Navy veteran and a member of the American Legion.

Survivors include one son, William M. Root of Flint, Mich.; two daughters, Joanne K. Olds of Millington, Mich. and Cheryl L. McGraw of Athens; one sister, Marie Secord of Otisville, Mich.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Annie Jane Speake
59, homemaker

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Annie Jane Speake, 59, of Danville will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Sparks officiating.

Burial will be in Speake Family Cemetery in Lawrence County with Peck Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home. Mrs. Speake died Saturday, March 31, 2001, at Decatur General Hospital.

She was born Dec. 17, 1941, in Tennessee to Woodrow Wilson Fincher and Nella Mae Moore. She was a member of Bible Baptist Church. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Carl E. Speake; her stepfather, Artis L. Moore of Walla Walla, Wash.; her mother of Walla Walla, Wash.; one daughter, Onna Speake Sparks of Danville; and one grandson.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Cook, Josh Cook, Jason Cook, Dewayne Moland, Greg Curtis and Dean Erwin.
